Okay. So I was like, really really bored today. And I upgraded my drivers, tweaked my ssytem, and cleaned stuff up a few weeks ago. I decided out of the blue to run BCM for the hell of it. And thus began my revival adventure. Hell. I got in, with the new patch and all, and I was like, "how do I work this?" I'm so damn used to running the external camera at least 1/4 of the time, and I even friggen forgot how to move the camera stuff. (N00B!) Yeah. Then there were the controls and stuff. At least I remembered how to run TacOps, Tactical, and Logistix. Still didn't feel like using autopilot so much; never really did use it heavily in the ol' days. Anyway, at one point I like accidentally used my favorite tactic of having my shuttles tow me, forgetting about the patch that nuked that little speed cheat. (N00B!) Bleh. I've n00bed myself several times tonite already. But guess what--my system's been rock solid enough for me that I haven't had a crash in Windows and BCM for ages. Lol. My box's had such a bad track record of not being able to play for more than 1.5 hours of BCM. But I hold strong. Anyway, I seem to have the ropes back in me. I await multiplayer. And I'm catching up on boards. Lol, right after taking a break off the game, I'm all hyped up about BCM. So what's the ETA on BCM Gold & MP? I heard late-November around here somewhere a couple weeks ago. Anyway, I'm back. And I've been honing my other skillz on the net during my little shore leave. d00ds, Nova's back in town. /me does a little dance. EDIT: OMFG POST 1337!!! WH05 l33t B4BY?!?!?! w00t. Comms and some surface combat questions

Detonator 40.72 is out. This is the third Detonator 4 beta release so far. Link: http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=winxp-2k_40.72 Getting it right now, so I can't really say much about it. Most likely just like the other v4 release, just more stable; the "release highlights" list is the same as before.

Er... He might also be talking about forum avatars. Get your pic. You should size it down to 48x48 pixels, because it's sized to that anyways. Save it as a jpg or gif. Upload it to some webhost or file server place, and then head to the My Profile ┬╗ View/Update Profile page. Scroll down to "Avatar Image", and hit "Select a different Avatar Image". It'll pop up a new window. At the bottom, you'll see "Use Custom URL:". Type the URL to your image in that box, and hit the "Set URL" button. Your avatar should appear in the top left corner of that box. If it's the way you want it, then hit "Select This Avatar" right underneath the Avatar pic. Note you have to upload your avatar. You can't have a URL pointing to a file on your computer. Here's an example: Good URL: http://members.aol.com/htmljedi/avatar.gif Bad URL: C:My DocumentsMy Picturesavatar.gif Hope I was of any help. If you've got any more questions, just ask; the Newbie Welcome Wagon is always free to help--unless I'm not. Later.

Do you want fries to go with that P4, sir?

Hm... Product placement in games. That'll be interesting. I dunno. It kinda breaks some of what The Sims Online promises. You're supposed to turn your house/lot into a place of business to attract other users (Sims). You get cash for 1) having people buy things at your lot from you (like the McDonalds burgers from the so-called kiosk), and 2) having people on the lot period (you get a lump sum every 24 hours from Maxis for the amount of users you've had on your lot for how long). You're supposedly turning your lot into your business. It doesn't really help to have an already-existing brand name on top of your business; takes away from that imagination/creativity factor. This will be very interesting to see how it plays out. (Edit: I actually took the time to write a decent sized post, lol. 5 posts til post 1337. r0x0r.) Hey Genken. If you're absolutely up for making a mod, and would like to buddy up, I'd love to make this a group project. I may be a vet, but I'm sure as hell a n00b at GBS/GBS-II. Would be a good time to learn. IMO, solo mod projects don't work that well, because they end up getting forgotten or left behind. If we could assemble a team for a mod, I'd be sure it'd work.

XeroZohar called me in here, telling me I had a ship named after me...... ÜBER W00T!!!! VERY nice job on the ship (besides the name ). Impressive. Makes me want to go out and create my own ship class for the Supremacy.....

H3h3, Ep5. Taking my logbot idea. (From the chatrooms I use for a clan I webmaster for. irc.webchat.org, #coldwinds,#arcticwinds,#fgofa.) Man, my logbot's been an ongoing scripting project that I've started (in March), given up, picked back up, left idle, worked on, and left alone for a while, only to do some tweaking to it a couple days ago. Yeah, and I'm using the nick "mtigas" in chat. Sorta tired of using an alias everywhere I go. Not like it really matters. Anyway, I'll try to be active in the chat. In the clansite that I worked on, after I set up and advertised chat, the chat became a lot more active than the boards. I don't expect that to happen here, but I'd love to see some good traffic; today was a pretty good day in those respects. l8r. (I've outgrown the ol' "Over and out" phrase. )

Are you jumping ship? - The nVidia vs ATI debate (again)
Cmdr Nova replied to fraXis's topic in General Chatter
The 9700's drivers appear nearly bug-free, according to several places I've checked up. Which completely blew me away, as well. It appears that ATI is pushing forward their next-gen technology, and working with it all the way, whilst leaving older models (like the 8500) in their own dust. Here's a couple of the articles I've read on it. These are just the ones I could find quick links to. Sharky Extreme Review Tech TV Review -
Lol, you don't have to upgrade if you don't want. If you really don't care, and your current stuff works, then just let it sit until DirectX9 comes out (if you don't have DX9 compatible drivers). And about ATI, they've extensively improved their driver quality, but with their newer technology, they've left their older cards in the dust; so older ATI cards won't get the constant driver updates that the rest of us will get. Anyway, the new driver is kickin' perfectly. There's also a few more features to tweak and play with in the NVidia Control Panel (Display->Settings->Advanced).

Detonator 40.41 is officially out (not leaked), as of today. Yeah, they're already chugging out their next-generation Detonator drivers; probably getting ready for their future next-gen GPUs coming out. It's not WHQL Certified (it's pending), and NVidia claims these improvements/features: [*]Up to a 25% increase in performance [*]nViewÔäó 2.0 multi-display technology increases productivity and provides the necessary tools to control the way users access and view applications. [*]NVRotateÔäó enabling image rotation on todayÔÇÖs advanced flat panel displays. [*]NVKeystoneÔäó allows for real-time image correction on portable projectors and heads-up displays. [*]Digital Vibrance ControlÔäó allows users to adjust color controls to achieve accurate, bright colors under all conditions. [*]New control panel streamlines user interface and enables faster and easier access to all video settings [*]Robust Channels enables higher faster performance and better stability for all applications through fail-safe paths in the drivers [*]CineFX Simulator allows developers to use CgÔÇöÔÇ£C for graphicsÔÇØÔÇöto write complex shaders in a high level language faster and more easily than before. [*]NVIDIAÔÇÖs patented Unified Driver Architecture (UDA) ÔÇô supports all products in a single driver binary Will try them out later today. LOL! Nice little adventure, there, SC. Hm... The only experience I've had even remotely similar to this was when my old (well, bleeding edge, at the time) 133mhz Pentium Packard Bell computer got all f***ed up, and our restore CD was corrupted. Yeah... Had to order another restore CD... Twice. lol.

Give me a break, will ya! There's a thing called school that just started yesterday for me. I was pretty friggin' tired, and went to sleep before the time he even posted. (08-19-2002 10:20 PM) Well... Welcome Aboard. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. quote:He's MIA Consider me under cloak right now. I read the boards frequently, but don't really post. I am here. Hm... Need to re-install BCM. Been forever since I've played, and I'm itching to try out the new patches. I'll probably be rusty as hell when MP comes around. Laterz.

Galaxian homeworld, eh? Look for Obsidia. Pretty creepy out by those parts. Wormholes that lead to null areas, that lead to strange, empty zones. You might find something of interest over there. Be sure to save before planetfall, if you're planning on exploring.
-
Supernovas are like "in-between" zones where fluxfields and such take you, before the destination. Sort of like a mid-flight fueling stop or something. IIRC, the Appendix has information and map data that includes this. I'm damn sure that the BC3000ad Manual or Appendix had one, because I remember reading through it at one point. Look around, and you might find your answers. Oh, and be warned: some fluxfields have exits that lead to black holes. The one at Mars is one such fluxfield.

Boy, I've been reading the forums quietly for weeks, and how could I have missed this thread? (Was gone in early June.) Upgrade's pretty slick. I see there are more little doodads to tinker around with, which I won't. (i.e. "Report This Post") No trouble on my end, chief.

Heh. Even the first article (the British one) said it was a .06 threat factor. That's pretty damn small. (Even though all the other recorded asteroids have had negative numbers for threat factors, I still consider it small.) This just goes to show you. You've got your optimistic American science group, and your pessimistic British gang overseas. Of course there are going to be disagreements. The truth (18 posts until I hit 1337 (l33t). w00t!)
-
Hm... Been a while since the Supremacy's toured the Obsidia region. IIRC, there's one that appears to be trapped in the ground, and there's another one that flies around the atmosphere of the planet. Unless this has been changed, or my memory is going bad, this should be correct. (19 posts till I hit 1337 (l33t). w00t!)

NASA's Opinion on the recent media hype of this? Rubbish. (No, not the SC kind.)
