Nothing ever works on This Ship (Aka Star Trek)
Parias replied to a topic in Role Playing Discussions
The officer at sensors looked up with alarm. "Sir! I'm picking up a massive energy surge from the vessel! It appears they've triggered an auto-destruct!" "Typical of Galcom pigs, they'd rather die than join our magnificent cause..." "Sir, there's a mass of ships exiting the vessel, difficult to detect thanks to the high energy coming from the cruiser and the nebula itself, but they're there." "Abandoning ship? I would have expected more of a fight my Galcom friends.. but alas, I cannot let you go. Tactical, prepare a shuttle to deploy the hyperspace inhibitor." "Uh, what sir?" Parias blinked for a second, then cussed himself for getting too drawn up in those vids... "Never mind. Engage drives to intercept, we must-" "Sir, it's too late. They're away." Parias' face drained of colour. Suddenly, the ship exploded, rocking the vessel and sending Parias' cup of cola crashing to the ground. "Sir, shields down to 15%! They must have dumped something into the reactor to increase the power of the explosion!" "Dammit..." Suddenly Parias got an idea. "Are there any corpses floating amongst the debris?" "2 of them were blown clear and avoided being melted by the secondary blasts... uh, why?" "I think I have a plan that may avoid our execution... dispatch a shuttle team to bring those carcasses on board. Have the medical officer re-create the bodies from whatever DNA may be left in the cloning chamber." "But sir, there are only 2 bodies and our orders were for-" "Yes, but the rest did not survive interrogation." Parias said, winking at the officer. A few minutes later a shuttle was dispatched from the cruiser and picked up the bodies, then proceeded back. "Sir, we're picking up multiple entries from the gates, it appears that the enemy has scuttled re-inforcements." "Very well. We have what we came from, primary objective fulfilled. Helm, engage hyperspace drive." With a white flash, the vessel jumped out and proceeded to the jump point, where it then vanished from the system. 2 of the Galcom vessels maintained pursuit for 2 systems before giving up, while the other one searched the debris for any remains. Only one in-tact object remained.. a slightly cracked coffee mug that somehow survived the explosion. (ooc) Hope that one is a bit better... ------------------ Parias ICV-Galatae ICQ:1293359 Staff member at www.tacticalplanet.com "I took this job because I love to blow sh*t up!" Parias watched with great interested as the crippled Battlecruiser faded from view, and a small power spike that indicated a small craft had left the ship. After that, nothing. "Really my dear Galcom friend, what good will cloaking do you? I have the power to tear your ship to pieces, and you simply try to hide in the shadows without moving an inch. I know exactly where you are." The sensors officer looked up. "Sir, we're showing some power surges along the ship, it appears they are preparing to fire their primary IOD." "Interesting..." Parias was just taking a sip from his cola, when a small explosion rippled among the hull. The ship shook slightly, sending his drink right into his lap. Parias stood and cussed loudly. A small PIP opened at the lower end of the main viewer, showing an external view. Parias grinned as he saw the armour appear to ADJUST itself, slowly regenerating from the impact, while additional armour was brought around from other areas to compensate. The whole process only took seconds. "Damage report." "The people sleeping in those quarters in that sector are a bit shooken by the impact, but I'm not reading any punctures or damage. It looks like the armour is working fine." "Excellent. And now to test out a couple more devices..... power up the new sensor array while I go change.." ---------------- A few minutes later, a small panel opened up the underside of the massive ship, which revealed itself to be a massive sensor array. It lit up as power was diverted to it. "All systems operating normally, but I can already see many places where we can optimize the energy flow.. the device is taking up 25% more energy than it really needs to..." Parias listened intently to his science officer, Ella. She was a fine and capable officer, with an eager interest in new and mysterious devices. "But it will function? Good. Keep me informed. Sensors, how's the device charging?" "80%.... 90%... ready sir!" "Very well. Activate." A large green wave emerged from the beam, then another, directed towards the area the Black Star was in. As it got closer to the ship, the beam expanded to cover more area, before finally vanishing at 100 units away.. The beams came out in a circular fashion from the ship, covering each angle. As one of the waves touched the Black Star, green electic energy was seen flying across the hull of the cloaked ship. This effect lasted about 10 seconds, in-which another wave impacted and the effect happened again. While the effect didn't do any real damage, it gave off a bright glow that made the ship stand out far more than even if it was uncloaked. "Excellent. They certainly can't hide from us..." "Sir, I'm a bit worried" said the helm officer. "That explosion that happened.. it was far more powerful and explosive than any normal IOD blast, at least as powerful as a mine.." "They must have upgraded their weapon technology... obviously a tad too late, as our armour shows. Very well. One last technology to test. Tactical, raise shields and bring the new tractor beam online." "Aye sir! Tractor beam now going online. Thanks to the sensor array we can lock onto and haul the ship, even while it's cloaking device is activated." "Good. Very well, close to within tractor range. If this device functions properly, we can haul that vessel while our shields are up.. a rather useful tool." The Black Shard's engines began outputting energy, and a massive glow was seen behind the ship as it closed within range of the now helpless Black Star.... ------------------ Parias ICV-Galatae ICQ:1293359 Staff member at www.tacticalplanet.com "I took this job because I love to blow sh*t up!" -

Hmm, mind if I try smacking myself in here somewhere? Hell I might be able to keep this one going as well Note that this thread bears no marking on other RP threads, so while in another story I'm some drunken idiot begging for food, in this one I might be something.. different.. Hopefully I won't go out of line or anything. [rp] Parias slowly rose from his comfortable command couch onboard the ICV Black Shard, his new command vessel. The Insurgents had discovered artifacts deep near the planetary core of Sygan, and some kind of wierd new metal that had a strong power of some kind that seemed to absorb anything thrown at it and adjust itself for better protection in weakened areas. Along with it, researches were also able to bring a new PAD system online and sucessfully integrate it into the Black Shard. "Helm, bring us about to face the BlackStar. Tactical, bring the PAD online, pronto!" "But sir, the power of that weapon will put such a drain on our reactor.. it isn't perfec-" "Dammit Harris I know about the risks, if by some random chance they punch through our shields, they still have the armour to worry about! Now charge the PAD and prepare to fire! We're taking control of this system!" The lights dimmed slightly as power was drawn from the reactor to charge the massive weapon. Servos could be heard whining overhead as the PAD was unsheathed from it's protective armour and brought into the open for firing position. "PAD ready sir! The last of the GalCom interceptors have docked with that cruiser, and they appear to be charging their hyperspace drive!" "I see. We can't have that now can we? Tactical, lets knock out their primary engine drive and see what they do. I expect precision, nothing more, nothing less. If that ship explodes from the beam, I'll personally have your head served to the high commander!" "You mean Rat-" "Silence! Dare not speak his name in the open! Now take careful aim and fire!" The shield indicator on Parias' hud dropped to 25%, and the lights totally went out as massive energy was drawn from the reactor. Red emergency lights came on. A large glow could be seen in front of the vessel where the gun was mounted. Then the gun spat out a large stream of laser fire straight near the rear area of the Black Star. A small explosion could be seen on the ship, and the engines suddenly lost their bright glow. "Nicely done Lieutenant Harris. Keep up the good work and I might have some use for you yet. Now lets simply sit a moment and see what they do. Bring the shields down. Helm, bring us in circling manuevers around that ship." "But sir, we'll be right in the path of their IOD and turret fire! And without shields..." "Helm, this is a field test of this ship and all technologies aboard. It would be rather unpleasant to return without testing out our hull armour, now would it?" "Understood sir.. course laid in." "Very well..." Parias laid back on his command couch and sipped from a small cola. Other commanders often chidded him for not taking the "hard" drinks, but he prefered to be alert and ready, not drunk and stumbling. [/rp] Oh and note that the Black Shard is only a temporary assignment for this thread, I'll return to normal in other ones Hope I didn't go out of line at all. ------------------ Parias ICV-Galatae ICQ:1293359 Staff member at www.tacticalplanet.com "I took this job because I love to blow sh*t up!" -

(rp) Quartler crouched down in a darkened area of the flight bay. This was going to be rather difficult... He had waited untill most of the crew was asleep, the less people watching the better, but there were still new ships arriving and leaving every 10 minutes. This would have to be done very precisely. Using a stolen uniform of the chief engineer, he was going to lead them into a rigged chamber for a "meeting". He would then use a small knife to make cuts in the victims, leaving some blood behind, and using a large flatbed he would transport the unconsious officers to a small chamber he had rented out privately for this very purpose. He waited untill the bay was at it's quietest, and rose. Walking over near the rigged room, he yelled "I need 30 engineers or officers in here, now! Quick meeting!" The personell sorted themselves out and after a moment of confusion, 30 assorted engineers/officers entered the room. Quartler entered last. He closed the door and locked it. He then stabbed a red button he had quickly hidden under a panel in the wall, and donned a gas mask. The engineers and officers looked at him in confusion for a moment, then almost instantly after, they hit the floor unconsious. There was a cargo bed already in the room, along with a blanket. He set to his task, and a few minutes later he was in the reserved quarters, hiding the bodies. Once they were positioned to his satisfaction, he exited the room and locked it, muttering to himself. His job was done, the rest was in Parias' hands. --------------- Parias clutched his briefcase tighter as Galcom HQ loomed closer. The shuttle he was in looked very old, and he was a bit worried about making it in one piece. This worry was inflated by the fact that the pilots were drinking, laughing, and looked fit for death. The package in the briefcase contained a special item that would frame a particular Galcom commander that had caused him a lot of trouble in the past. If things went accordingly, then phase 2 would begin. All a matter of time... The shuttle jerked about violently as the drunken pilots attempted to dock. "...and a matter of survival I suppose.." Parias mumbled to himself. He wondered how Galcom could let such incompetent officers fly a civillian plane, much less a military shuttle. (/rp) ------------------ Parias ICV-Galatae ICQ:1293359 Staff member at www.tacticalplanet.com "I took this job because I love to blow sh*t up!"

(rp) "You need WHAT?!" Quartler looked astounded. "Come on buddy, I've done a hell of a lot of back rubbing for you in the past. Remember that little skirmish around Pluto??" "Yea but.. this is-" "Come on! All I need is this little favor carried out, and we'll consider the matter closed." "But Parias.. assasinating half of the command staff on GalCom HQ? It's damn near impossible, and I'll be hunted like a dog!!" "I know dammit. I didn't say to assasinate them though did I? I said to make them LOOK dead. Kidnap them, get em into a room and use gas, I don't know. Just make sure there's a lot of blood left, but no bodies. Let em go at a later time when I give the word. I've got it covered, they won't trace it back to-" Suddenly the door opened and a tech walked into the area. Parias cursed himself for not locking the cargo bay doors for a moment. He quickly stabbed the red button he had installed on the modified comm unit, signalling the transmission was being monitored. "Uh, yea looks like we'll need 20 units of Iridium.. just in-case. Charge it to my personal account." The tech looked around a bit and left the room after checking a couple of cargo containers. Parias hit the red button again. "Anyways, I've got it covered. And looks like we still have a communication problem or something, have you been drinking? I didn't say the COMMAND staff, that would be insane. Just some 30-odd engineers and officers in general. Make it look like they were assasinated with the bodys carried away, and leave some blood, but make it look like it was hastily, and very poorly, cleaned up. This will be all I shall ask of you for a very long time." "Well, I DO owe my life to you... alright. But only under one condition." Parias raised an eyebrow. "If this is traced back to me, I am going to expose your whole godamn operation. Galcom troops will be all over you like stink on sh*t." "I SAID I have it covered. Get the job done. Out." Parias switched off the comm unit. Upon his signal the operation would begin. The officers wouldn't be missed much, but an investigation would go under way anyways. Just perfect for his plan..... His timer beeped, it was time to get back to work. Parias sighed heavily, cleaning out the reactor of gunk was getting old, fast. But soon he would have his revenge.... ------------------ Parias ICV-Galatae ICQ:1293359 Staff member at www.tacticalplanet.com "I took this job because I love to blow sh*t up!"

(rp) Parias gathered his things and signaled the shuttle pilot. The shuttle took off from the hidden base on Sygan and flew off towards the ICV-Galatae. Due to the circumstances, Parias' first officer, Jerry Slinger (no jokes please hehe) was now in command, but Parias was able to maintain his posting on the ship, but as an engineer. Better than nothing at least. As the base became smaller and smaller behind them, Parias looked ahead to the upcoming events that would transpire. The black men, the mysterious readings of nullspace, the strange items that had accumulated in his quarters. They would all come together in good time. Things were definately looking up, (/rp) ------------------ Parias ICV-Galatae ICQ:1293359 Staff member at www.tacticalplanet.com "I took this job because I love to blow sh*t up!"

(rp on) Parias scrubbed the engines of the interceptor a bit harder, they needed to be "nice and shiney" by the time the damned drill officer returned. Glancing at a nearby monitor, he caught a whiff of the latest news. A new defector to the insurgency eh? Parias grinned to himself and scrubbed a bit harder. His career had gone down the drain awhile ago, but things were finally starting to look up for the first time ever. Alright my other attempts at Rping haven't gone over so well, so I'm gonna make another attempt, cautiously >) Here goes.. [rp] Parias gazed up, stunned, dazed, and confused. The last of the cruisers had hypered out of the system, whereever it was, leaving him for dead. His Interceptor was crippled, and he hadn't the slightest idea what he was doing there. His last memory was some people in black lab coats standing over him in a dark room. One of them held up a tiny sawblade, and his memory cut off there. Most of his Interceptor's systems were either fluctuating or gone. Looking up, as if for the first time, he saw a planet in the distance, slowly moving towards him. No, he was moving towards it! Still dazed, feeling as if he was the most tired person in the galaxy, Parias shunted a bit of his remaining power to his navigation systems to find out where he was. It stated he was over Mars, and it predicted a crash landing in about 2 hours, far away from any outposts or cities that may be on the planet. There was insufficient energy to break free of the planet's gravity, all he could do was put the rest of his energy into an SOS beacon, in hopes someone would find him. After doing all he could do, Parias leaned back into his chair, and thought hard, wondering why he was sitting out there, why he was in an Interceptor in the first place, wondering just WHO he was, other than his name, and just why he was where he was. It seemed like everything up untill this point was a pure blank, like he had been asleep the whole time untill now. Trailing sparks, the Interceptor was slowly pulled towards the planet, the pilot inside stuggling to find answers. [/rp] There's a good start, I'm encouraging you guys to build upon that any way you want >) Just so long as it doesn't involve a *bump* a "What was that?" and "Woops, I forgot I filtered out SOS signals from the radar!" ------------------ Cmdr Parias ICV-Galatae ICQ:1293359 "I took this job because I love to blow sh*t up!"

[rp] Parias sighed, this was getting to be very tiresome... *INCOMING TRANSMISSION* FROM: SYGAN ACCEPT MESSAGE? *YES* *NO* Parias hit YES, hoping this wasn't another convoy run of Emperian Ale. EA was very.... fuzzy, he didn't like it much, it was popular with most Credians for one reason or another, and lately seemed to be in high demand. What this meant though was that Parias was forced to take his junky cargo freighter deep outside Terran space, and although the Credians allowed this for trade runs, most of the systems he went to were also crawling with raiders. Anyways the EA was in high demand, it seemed like every high-ranking officer in the galaxy wanted some for him and his brother, and Parias and a couple others were the only ships capable of hauling it, due to the fact that all the other ships were busy with "other duties". Har har. *LINK ESTABLISHED* "Greetings comm- er, I mean MISTER Parias!" Parias snorted, this was starting to get on his nerves. Good ol' Travic, always seemed to enjoy seeing high ranking officers reduced to this duty..... he must remember to request him as a crew member on board his ship... maybe to clean the hull of his ship with a toothbrush, or as an addition to the target range in the marine barracks... "Yea what do you want now?" Parias grumbled. "We've got some more Emperian Ale for you to-" "Aw HELL not more! I've got at least 50 cases about my ship already, with each and every one of them wanted on a different planet!" "Well, this one is going straight to the Insurgent command post here on Sygan." "Why can't you deliver it yourself? I'm almost half-way across the galaxy from there!" "I don't care. Make this top priority, I heard some rumors that Cmdr Rattler himself requested this! Just rumors of course." "Yea I'll bet he did...." Parias knew that couldn't be, Rattler was far too busy for such a thing.... "Nevertheless, get your ship over to Sirius now. You'll get your extra cargo of 10 cases from there, and head to Sygan to deliver them to the station there. Make it snappy!!" *TRANSMISSION ENDED* Parias swore loudly enough to make a child cry, then started up his engines and headed for Sirius. He had also done a bit of sniffing, and sure enough, Mr. Mordan was in command of the Galatae. It was last heard he had set course for Lanix V... what business would he have there? As far as Parias knew that area was mostly unexplored... at least to him personally, he didn't know of what stations or planets were there, and since he didn't have access to military data at the moment, he couldn't find out. Things were starting to fall into place, but Parias couldn't figure out just WHAT it was. [/rp] Considering how there isn't much data on the "personal" lives of the average Credian, I, in essence created the snoots. Hope I didn't go out of line >) ------------------ Parias ICV-Galatae ICQ:1293359 "I took this job because I love to blow sh*t up!" [This message has been edited by Ron Wallin (edited 05-17-99).] -

[rp] Parias left the room, shook up but not broken, at least not in spirit. But what was this about there being no spy caste? He was sure that there was... from... Suddenly he snapped his fingers as a thought came into his head. That man in the black cloak.... he was behind the whole thing! He proceeded into his quarters and thought it over some more. He knew that when he first met the man, who had identified himself simply as Mr. Mordan, it was he who had informed him of his "new position" as Elite commander. It was he who, when his command was revoked later on, that suggested he continue to press about the new technology that was coming out. And, earlier in Parias' life, it was Mr. Mordan who had informed him of this "spy caste" and had him join, to get his own Battlecruiser. But WHY?? Suddenly Parias remembered the reports he had heard on Mr. Mordan. Around the time Parias had lost his command for a week and had been sent to the brig, he heard that Mr. Mordan had come into command of Parias' cruiser, and also into a sizeable sum of money. There was also something else..... oh god! Parias got up and angrily began throwing things around the room. "He played me!!" he screamed. "He played me like a puppet! ARRRGHH!!!!" To anybody passing by, it would have sounded like a small tornado or earthquake had gone off in his quarters, impossible of course in space. (ed note, since Cmdr. Chavik failed to specify where the meeting was, I'm assuming it was on a station over Sygan or some place near). The room was a mess when he was finished, and he stormed out, bumping into a nav officer on his way out. He was going to find this "Mr. Mordan" and would find out just what was going on. [/rp] Anyways I've talked to Cmdr. Akira and he offered to modify my post so it isn't so.. er... "faulty". Hope I didn't go out of line with this post as well >) [rp] Mr. Mordan looked out the window of the battlecruiser he had "aquired". He tapped his fingers on the wall slowly and chuckled to himself. Everything was falling into place.... now if Parias would keep doing his "job", things would look very good for Mr. Mordan... very good indeed....... Alright, first of all I did not mean to alter your property. I admit I guess I should have done more research before I wrote that, but creating problems by making my story was not my intent. If I did, then I sincerely apologise. If it is such a big problem, say the word and I'll edit the post, changing it to something like "nothing to see here, move along". Or you guys could just delete it. Like I said, I didn't mean to cause any problems, and I am sorry. What will you have me do? Hmm.. teach me to write fiction at 11 PM >P Anyways yea, it wasn't my idea to create a whole new caste (I'm not here to be an @$$) but I didn't really have too much info on the Insurgent background (or I was just too tired to remember) so I just did what I figgered was right. I couldn't call it the "spy squad" or "spy group thingy" or anything like that, so I just came across "spy caste". I think watching Babylon 5 helped in that decision too....
