  1. quote:I have to run a mile and a half in 13 minutes. A big part of the run is against the wind, any pointers and tips to help get me set? Yepper! Ye should have started seriously working out and running 6 months ago! It's possible to make it Cruis. In, I used to could do it, but giving you a little specifics, you will need to have a SOA (speed of advance) of 10.15 feet per second if you are going to do 1.5 miles in 13 minutes. Just a little food for thought. The average man, standing 5'11" tall has a stride of 11 feet at full run. How tall are you? Nah, you can make it. Start today though and be able to run 5 miles on the day you test out. With that stamina you can do the 1.5 in 13 ------------------ Insurgent One, Rattler ICV Necromancer, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commander-In-Chief, Insurgency Official Tester, Battlecruiser Series [email protected] ICQ 12894104 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"

All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die. Roy from Blade Runner I've remembered this since the first time I saw the movie and the first real exposure to Rutger Hauer, a truely amazing Actor. ------------------ Insurgent One, Rattler ICV Necromancer, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commander-In-Chief, Insurgency Official Tester, Battlecruiser Series [email protected] ICQ 12894104 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand" [This message has been edited by Rattler (edited 10-21-2000).]

  7. When sending saved game files one should first identify the Player Slot. They start at Player0 and go on from there. Therefore, the 2nd Slot would be Player1. The save game slots are also identified in this nature. Again, the 2nd slot would be Save Game 1. Keeping this all in mind, The files you would need to send would be as follows: Player1.cmd, Player1.cml, Player1.log, Player1.pro, and player1.sg1 Hope that clears everything up. ------------------ Insurgent One, Rattler ICV Necromancer, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commander-In-Chief, Insurgency Official Tester, Battlecruiser Series [email protected] ICQ 12894104 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  8. Yes, Cruis. In, I was speaking in generalizations. Most of you that are reading this thread weren't alive when that was going on. I can't hold bad feelings for you, as I said, You weren't even born yet. I was just demonstrating that inallienalbe right of freedom of speech, whether it be by verbal or physical process. I'm going to refrain from posting on this thread from this point on. I tend to get heated in this type of discussion when I see someone questioning what I've devoted most of my life defending. In our past, We Americans have done a lot of bad things ourselves. I cite the "Bay Of Pigs" as a perfect example. So, we aren't squeaky clean ourselves. With that, I'll just monitor this thread and watch what unfolds. ------------------ Insurgent One, Rattler ICV Necromancer, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commander-In-Chief, Insurgency Official Tester, Battlecruiser Series [email protected] ICQ 12894104 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand" [This message has been edited by Rattler (edited 10-16-2000).]

  11. I believe, and I could be wrong here, that during the '60s they started this movement because they felt that they had the right to say and do anything without reprocussion. Our bill of rights, (remember those?) gave us the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Along with those rights came the responsibility to use them as we saw fit, as long as they did not infringe upon another's rights to pursue his own life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. We still have all those rights guaranteed by the constitution. We can say and do anything that we want, we just have to be correct. Those that forget to be correct are generally prosecuted to the fullest extent under Libel charges. That's also another right of ours. We don't have to stand for character assasinations. They had better be right if they say something about you in public forums. Another Right, under the free speech movement that Cruis. In is talking about, is your ability to burn the American Flag in public. That might still be your right but don't try it around myself or any other Vet out here! You might be speaking with your actions and hands for a lot longer than you counted on. I'm told it's extremely difficult to speak, and eat, with a broken jaw! Late Add In: While I'm on a roll here I'll also bring up the fact that, during the '60s and '70s, we guardians on the walls stood out there on the line, many dying, far to many I'll also say, defending your right of free speech and spitting on us when we wore our uniforms home through the airports. You had your freedom of speech even back then. We didn't drag you by your collars out into those streets and execute you like many other countries would have done. Nope, we smiled, hurt inside, and climbed back on that wall so that those that had offended us could stay safe at night and do it all over again to us again tomorrow. It might sound like I'm bitter but I'm truely not. I've given the better part of my life (and my wife's as well) defending YOUR right to freedom of speech! If you don't recognize this, then it's all been wasted and I could easily have just stayed at home and enjoyed my family more. ------------------ Insurgent One, Rattler ICV Necromancer, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commander-In-Chief, Insurgency Official Tester, Battlecruiser Series [email protected] ICQ 12894104 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand" [This message has been edited by Rattler (edited 10-15-2000).]
  12. Firstly, I applauded Steve's post, but this whole thread is now gaining a bit of civility. I most heartily applaud that! Now, Cruis. In, Are you speaking of "The Freedom of Information Act?" If so, then yes that was a good thing IMHO! If you weren't, then Where you been Son? Americans have always had the Fredom of speech! It was written into the Constitution!
  13. Applause! Great post, and this is finally developing into an informative thread! My compliments! Food for thought! Has anyone ever WON an election by popular vote and was not elected to office because he LOST the electoral vote? The answer is a resounding YES! That is, in my humble opinion, a travesty! We are one nation, elected by the people, for the people. If I were a candidate and I had more votes cast by the people, then I should be elected. Personally speaking, I think the Electoral College is a load of bunk and should be shelved for something better, like a bent trash can! At least I could look at it and say I'm getting something from it! ------------------ Insurgent One, Rattler ICV Necromancer, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commander-In-Chief, Insurgency Official Tester, Battlecruiser Series [email protected] ICQ 12894104 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  14. My latest find on the Insurgency is that Ramspite and Xavier have been included into the Beta Test. Great work guys! Xavier, Ya just made Captain! 15. I've had just about enough of this crap! Hamblin, I've been watching this thread since it started, biding my time and waiting for it to settle down. I thought that it had made it until your last post. Now you've gone and started calling names! quote:Ever stop being such an arsehole? With that, you've once again invited this forum to hammer you. I'm not going to let that happen though. I'm Locking the thread right after I do the following: 1) Reprimanding every one of you guys that are engaging in this pointless war of the wittless 2) Advising that any such repeats on any thread will result in 30 day suspension of posting priveleges. 3) Notifying all Fleet Commanders of my intentions. 4) Revoking Hamblins Posting Priveleges for the next 7 Days. No discussions, No reprieves. Now Mike, Ron, SpacePhish, Cruis. In, and anybody else out there that even think about this kind of BS again, Get a damned grip on the situation. Do NOT Repeat this again. Please? Done! Rattler

  17. Heh! Neither was I and I've made quite a good living at harvesting those Debris Fields. I'm going to have to give this a shot and see if it's duplicateable from my end. I'd like to personally investigate this one as well. ------------------ Insurgent One, Rattler ICV Necromancer, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commander-In-Chief, Insurgency Official Tester, Battlecruiser Series [email protected] ICQ 12894104 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  18. Hey Tac, While you are there, and learn to ride the trains , hop one out to Yokohama. From there catch one to Yokosuka. Somewhere along the way to Yokosuka you'll hear the "announcement" of Angin. Get off there! That's the little village that was the basis of the Novel and Movie of Shogun. It's been since '74-'79 timeframe but I think you'll find that the actual name of the Pilot was Adams. It's worth it just to explore that country. Also there's a little island park along the coast, North of Atsugi, named Inoshima (misspelled I'm sure). Go there! It's a little island loaded with shrines. Have fun Tac, but above all else, Learn the customs. A little knowledge and courtesy will put you head and shoulders above the normal tourist and WILL gain you favors that are not normally offered to the Gaijin (again, probably spelled incorrectly but pronounced like GuyJean!) ------------------ Insurgent One, Rattler ICV Necromancer, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commander-In-Chief, Insurgency Official Tester, Battlecruiser Series [email protected] ICQ 12894104 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand" [This message has been edited by Rattler (edited 10-14-2000).]
  19. (RP) The Old Insurgent sat there, brooding as normal. The inclusion of Akuma had not only surprised him, but had temporatily short circuited his thought process as well. He'd lost a good friend to the enemy trying to keep her from harm's way and now Blades had dragged her right back into the thick of things! Rattler viewed her as something precious, something to be guarded and kept far removed from such things that, if discovered, would tarnish all it touched. Rattler made a mental note to "Speak to Karl" about this when it's all over and done with, should they make it back in one piece! The Old Insurgent finally turned to Akuma and cleared his throat..."Ahh...Hmmm! It's been a long time Akuma. I hope you received the item that I sent you. If so, keep it safe. It might save your life someday, if I'm not around to do it myself." Rattler had seen it, tightly clinched in her hand but wanted her to admit that she had the artifact. Admission was a necessary thing with an affiliation with the Insurgency. If she admitted that she had it, then she also affirmed that she still considered Insurgent One a member of the Family. That was enough for him. He would not actively recruit her to the Insurgency and she knew that. If he had wanted her in the Insurgency, he would have taken her to Sygan instead of Galcom. Joining the Insurgency must be a personal choice, made with the deepest conviction. When he had rescued her, those many years ago, she was but a mere child with many more years of mental development ahead of her. It just wouldn't have been fair to her, or the Insurgency. Now the choice would be hers...and hers alone! Again the Old Insurgent turned and spoke to her....From the heart! "Akuma, now get a grip on yourself. Since Karl here has seen fit to drag you into this mess, I'll let him fill you in on what this is all about. I will tell you that this is all about making things right again. This will be your opportunity to regain ballance with yourself and with the Universe. You seem to have lost that ballance and focus. Well, Uncle Rattler's here to help you regain what you have lost, and as a side benefit, regain what he's lost as well. We're going to get Akira, and since you are along with us, It's your chance to help! Understood?" With that he abruptly turned to Fleet Commander Blades and gave him a look that could have killed if he had been just 1 meter closer. Another benefit of those Mirrored Glasses! "Karl, Fill her in on the details! She's your subordinate, she's just MY Family!" 20. Steve, although I agree with your statement of "What ever happened to Naval Intelligence", It IS the FBI's Responsibility to conduct the investigation, just as they did on the Battleship incident. US Vessels, particularly "Men/Women of War", US Embassies, et-al, are sovereign soil of the Unites States Of America. No matter where they are in the world, They belong to You and I. By law, CIA May NOT opperate within the confines of the United States. That means those ships as well. The CIA may Visit, but they cannot work there. As a criminal investigation that directly affects US Sovereignity (if that's a word), The FBI has absolute power and athority. Unfortunate, but quite true. So, there ya have it. The conspiracy thing sounds familiar to me too! ------------------ Insurgent One, Rattler ICV Necromancer, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commander-In-Chief, Insurgency Official Tester, Battlecruiser Series [email protected] ICQ 12894104 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  21. quote:I heard some speculation on the radio yesterday that the reason that the Cole was in port was that the Clinton Pentagon has eliminated all the refueling ships, so the big ships have to come into port now instead of refueling out at sea. Is this true? As far as I know, The navy still uses AFS/AFO Ships. That's one of the most important links in the chain of the US Navy's ability to perform it's designated mission. That mission is to be able to conduct Immediate and Sustained Opperations anywhere around the world with the follow on mission to remain in that AO for an indefinite period of time. It can't be done without the ability to Underway Replenish (UnRep). Plain and Simple. Being a veteran of a few trips through those particular waters, I can almost assuredly speculate that the USS Cole was on port of call In Yemmen, prior to transitting the Straights of Hormuz. Once into the Straights (Very Shallow and Narrow Passage), The Gulf opens up quite a bit, but remains damned shallow. The AO/AFS Ships, when fully loaded out, draw a tremendous draft. This is detrimental to operations in the Gulf. Any opperations that they might conduct would have to be limited to the main shipping channels and would place both the AFS/AO and the Receiving Ship in jeoprady. That's why Most Larger Ships (The Cole is quite small in this list) normally dock pierside and take on fuel before they go in. Once inside the Gulf, there are a couple of places to get gas again from pierside and give the crew a much needed rest as well. Rattler, Retired Chief Warrant Officer BTW, Gulf War Vet and multiple trip taker to Hormuz
  22. The patch will auto detect and patch if it's the right size and right patch. What it won't do, unless placed in the bc3000ad directory is create the .bak folder in there so you can unpatch if necessary. Now cut him some slack. Having the patch in the bc directory isn't his problem I don't think. He's still got a mismatch there somewhere. Now please provide your patch size as I previously requested. ------------------ Insurgent One, Rattler ICV Necromancer, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commander-In-Chief, Insurgency Official Tester,Battlecruiser Series [email protected] ICQ 12894104 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  23. The "Man behind the mirrored glasses" had long since taken them off and had proceeded to get comfortable in his "At Sea Cabin." As he proceeded to empty his flask, his nerves had settled a bit. He was totally relaxed by the time the flask had been emptied. He had "Read the Room" as any good Gambler would have done, disabling any and all Snoops that were there. Under his breath he snarled Karl, and I thought you trusted me.. as he disabled the last of the 7 devices. In the back of his mind that song flourished again and came rushing back into his consciousness. "You've got to know when to hold them, Know when to fold them....." Memories came rushing forward like a tidal wave. He remembered them all. The loss of the 1st Necromancer. His good friend DeSylva, Locke1 being there to pull his bacon out of the preverbial fire when the Gams were intent on frying his posterior. He remembered an Eagle Eyed Galcom Commander that came to visit, Uninvited, an old Gunnery Sergeant that was Time Eternal, ever vigilant on watch, the first one to man the walls, the last to leave his post. He also remembered a fleeting Buck, and his return. Storekeeper, I hope you're still out there carrying Nails! We might need some soon! And finally came Akira, The current mission. We're coming Mia Amigo, We're Coming!" Rattler threw the empty flask at the bulkhead and slumped into his chair. Damned it all, why must there be such times as these? Why must there always be someone out there who is afraid to face their enemies in the light of day, instead of the dark and damp alleys of the universe. What ever happened to Honor? Even the Gammulans were better enemies. At least they had honor. Rattler was in need. He quickly thumbed the intercom and spoke directly into it. "Karl, I need another favor. Could I trouble you with finding a female companion for myself on this fine ship? No it's not what you think! Even an Old Insurgent enjoys the company of the opposite sex. I just need to talk and I find it very pleasant to speak with women. Your choice Fleet Commander. I promise to be what my Mother brought me up to be. A Gentleman......" Click (/RP)
  24. Very well posted Blades! Now for this bickering going on here, Knock it off! Currently I'm bound by an agreement with Blades to not terminate any player entities. I'll abide by that agreement until someone really ticks me off. From that moment on, that entity is fair game! Understood? Akuma, I still have that "Black Heart" called Jester out there at work now. I still see nothing of the "Artifact" showing up in your possession. Your NPC that has it is in serious jeoprady of not surviving this thread if he doesn't deliver real soon. Be advised! For now, FC Blades, please continue with your utilization of my characher. You're doing an outstanding job of portrayal of my character. You and only You have this privelege to use me in the 1st person at the moment. Any Insurgent out there that wishes to use me in their posts should only use me as a message received. I don't want any of you disrupting the flow that Stacy has going at the moment, so pick your places carefully and fall in with the flow. Jester, If you're really out there and are wanting to get in on this, Be Yourself! ------------------ Insurgent One, Rattler ICV Necromancer, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commander-In-Chief, Insurgency Official Tester,Battlecruiser Series [email protected] ICQ 12894104 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
