  1. 1. Start deploying drones 2. Trade to get some money 3. Retrieve drones to get more money. 4. Attack planets, stations, hunt raiders, etc. Anyways, during 1 to 3 you'll probably run into some enemy ships that you'll either engage or run away from. Other stuff that you'll probably try out when you've collected enough money/EP: 1. If you want a vacation, you could always try visiting some planets/moons. 2. Or go into a town and have a party with some enemy raiders 3. If you like gambling, why not try the flux fields? 4. Beam Resnig down to Pluto 5. The ultimate of course... is to play as a god... use the RANDOM on your favorite enemy planet
  2. BCM(G): As an ordinary marine you can teleport to different locations on the same planet. It is impossible to travel to another planet than the one you started in. UC: I'm not sure how you will be able to travel fast on planets, but I think I've read somewhere that different faction-cities will be closer, and so you will have "battles" between them. As for how it'll be with space marines, I don't know. My guess is that you won't be stationed on ships, and that the only way to get orders from someone, is if SC makes instant action scenarios or ACM for the space marine class (or someone else does it with GBS-III)
  3. Only SE can repair shuttles, CC and fighters. To repair shuttles and fighters: -they have to be docked at the CC or... -they have to be docked at a station with your AE aboard. In both instances, you must assign SE. The CC can be repaired both when docked at a station and in space. When you want to do repaires, assign engineers in the logistics screen, and be sure to have the necessary equipment to repair your system.
  4. It's impossible to repair systems that are destroyed (showing up as red in the logistics screen), you have to replace them. Hope that helps.
  5. As Huwie said, there are disadvanteges when there are no officers on station: - You can't use your Navitron computer without your Nav-officer on station - You can't research artifacts without your research officer on station - Your medics won't be set to searching automaticly without your medic-officer on station - Your better half Resnig won't tell you if there are intruders on your ship, or set marines on search-duty automaticly, if he's not on station. - You won't have C&C withour having your ?CO? and ?TO? on station. - ....and more if your crew/officers have more AI
  6. Since it is quite hard to hit much smaller ships (than your own) with the main guns, you should use your PTA-system. To do that, you need to know where your "PTA-cannons" are located. Study your craft from the outside (hit ?F10?). When you are in combat you should try to align your ship so that some of your PTA-cannons can shoot the enemy fighter. On a sidenote, when your asset is a carrier, you should try to avoid going into a dogfight with fighters. You should either use your own fighters to distract them, then use your PTA system to destroy the enemy fighter, or cloak/run away. Hope that helps a bit.
  7. It's really strange that no one has mentioned it before (I couldn't find anything on the topic), but I guess a lot of you have tried the following: 1. Use the -cheat (see end of faq) 2. Start a terran military career with launch-base GalcomHQ. Class: Elite force pilot. 3 Launch 4 Change your own race to unexplored/galaxian 5. Fly within 50 km of GalcomHQ 6. Create a starstaion with race: Gammulan, class military 7. Order the gammulan station to attack GalcomHQ with all its assets, and do the same with GalcomHQ (against the Gammulan station) 8. Watch the battle unfold
  8. Only suggestion I've got is to restart the mission. Anyways... If Starball is destroyed, my guess is that Vagrant will RTB.
  9. quote: Shush. We try to keep things like this quiet. If the SC hear you he'll change the script Well... actually I was only kidding...
  10. In TO1 M4/5 Karl Reines was beamed on my ship, and I got the rank Tacops commander and fleet C&C. When TO1 was finnished Karl Reines left my ship, but I kept my rank as Tacops Commander. Have anyone else experienced this?
  11. quote: The author in question no doubt reviews, and has reviewed, many games. Hopefully not. That review was all about personal attacks and nothing about the game.
  12. quote:I'm chilling down here in West Palm Beach, Florida. Enjoying my electricty and air conditioning.LOL
  13. quote: I just finished the entire series of Thomas Covenant books (The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever & The Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever) and they were FANTASTIC. Now reading Farseer: The Assassin's Apprentice and it's also very good, though depressing. You should read his SF-series. I think the first book is called "The real story". Those books really kept me pinned to the sofa. I just finnished the first two books in a triology called "The lightstone" by David(?) Zindel. He writes a bit like Tolkien (although you can't really compare Tolkiens work with anyone). But if you want to read something that really makes an impression, you should read "Forgotten soldier". It's written by a german/french guy (can't remember his name), and his life as a soldier on the eastern fron during WWII. One of the most depressing and realistic (I think) books I've ever read. quote:Now I'm reading "Use Of Weapons" by Iain M. Banks.Yea, Iain M. Banks rocks
  14. As Enigma says: keep trying, and you will eventually make the jump. There are three possible results when using flux-fields: 1. Position unchanged 2. You make a jump, but you end up in a black hole/super nova and your ship explodes. 3. You make a jump to a new system. The results, as far as I know, are random. Therefore you can have number 1 happen to you a number of times before any other results occur. I think this is covered some place in the manual.
  15. I may be wrong, but I thought ejecting cargo in space generated cargo pods. Also, a "cargosweep-order" (or somethig like that) with a shuttle will retrieve any cargopods in your region.
  16. Ehr... I'm not sure how to link a site but here goes.... *snipped* Is it legal to harass someone like this????? [ 08-07-2003, 04:01 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  17. quote: ALso: often, when I access the nav computer to set a new destination, when I first click on where I want to go, some other system name shows up as the destination, i.e. clicking on the Xylan system, and having it suddenly say that Earth or some other place is now the destination. I just have to click on it a few times to get it to finally say the name of the place I'm actually clicking on. Not a big deal, just annoying. What's a little more annoying is when I have to go through the whole process twice; I get it to say that where I want to go is my new target, and when I leave the nav computer, it says there's no waypoints set, so I have to go and do it all over again. Happens just about every time - when I want to go somewhere, I have to set the destination twice. I think this has to do with the AI of your navigation officer. Higher AI means she will plot more correct waypoints - you don't have to click on your destination (in the nav. computer) more than "once", and she will be able to plot a course to that destination (you will have a waypoint).
  18. 2) How dangerous your enemies are does not depend on what type of asset you choose: You will meet the same kind of enemies no matter what kind of asset you choose. On the other hand, it is more difficult to fight enemy ships with a shuttle, than with a battlecruiser....
  19. Resnig is the combat officer. He acts "kind" of stupid.
  20. 1 Go to tacops (ALT+S). 2 Click on the marine you want to follow your AE. 3 Order him to escort your AE.
  21. 1 min game time = 1 min real time
  22. quote: Don't believe it? Don't like it? Lifes a B$%ch, because that is what is happening. DEAL WITH IT!!! If this is the view of USA/GB, no wonder the rest of the world condemns their actions. “Don’t believe it? Don’t like it? Lifes a….” goes both ways. Personally I believe there are numerous reasons why USA/GB did go to war against Iraq. Human rights are at the bottom of that list.
  23. Jaguar: The reason I asked why USA didnÔÇÖt attack N. Korea, was that IÔÇÖve heard numerous people, in this forum and others, argue that Saddam needs to be removed because he is a lunatic that kills his own people. If this is the case, the tyrant in N.Korea should be removed too. Arguments about the country not having money/good economy should not be relevant. People die in thousands every year in that country, as in Iraq, because they have a lunatic tyrant in control. Yes, the government will most likely collapse ÔÇô eventually. How many people will die in the meantime? As I said, the UN is the closest thing we have to world democracy. By making the UN irrelevant, as you put it, every country can do whatever they want because the UN has absolutely no power at all. They didnÔÇÖt have all that much power before, but now they have none. If USA/GB is to decide, from now on, what is wrong and what is right, they will be the tyrants of the world. quote: then we have to take it upon ourselves, because it effects our security DIRECTLY Do you mean that you have to "take it upon yourself" because Iraq is funding terrorism? If this is the case, so do a number of other countries. By trying to stop terrorism through war, USA may very well be looked upon as terrorists by those countries that are invaded.
  24. Hmmm... I really don't get how one can defend the war in Iraq. Mostly because USA/GB has gone against the closest thing we have with regards to world democracy - the UN - and still they argue that the war has to do with getting rid of a tyrant. And yes... the UN s$*ks, but it's the only thing we have. It seems like USA/GB use the UN when they agree with USA/GB, and do whatever they like when the UN doesn't agree. Still they condemn a country that does exactly the same. Also, how come USA/GB didn’t want to attack N.Korea? I mean N.Korea is at least as bad as Iraq. Does it have something to do with the possibility of N.Korea doing a preemptive strike against USA/N.Korea not having valuable recources/N.Korea not being as important strategically?
  25. Should know the answear to these questions, but don't know - here goes: 1. What's the difference between the autopilot beeing in "direct mode" and the autopilot being "under Mother's control"? 2. Situation: I have marines ready for combat and some intruders are beamed onto my CC. The intruders goes to sickbay, and I manually move my ready marines to sickbay to fight them. Do they go off duty (use the sickbays facilities -> goes off duty) or do they fight the intruders?
