CTD and intruders

CTD and intruders
Supreme Cmdr replied to Cruiser's topic in Battlecruiser / Universal Combat (Legacy)
Do you have that saved game Cruiser? If so, send it along with a description of how to reproduce it. Once again, I'm not in the mood for you to waste my time. So you only get one chance this time to clearly explain what you were doing and how to reproduce it. If I have any doubts or questions, it means that you weren't clear. Which means I won't revisit this issue again. -
So obviously you either didn't respond to the challenge or Comcast filtered it out. If you don't have the full name of the game in either the subject or the body of the email, you will be challenged. If you don't get a challenge response at least once, we never - ever - get to see your email. Pretty simple really.

I hope his death was slow and painful.

Actually we don't store emails in our dB. If your AOL email address went through to us (it did, because I gave you a new CD-KEY yesterday), then it means you already passed the challenge response sent by ChoiceMail One, our spam filter. If you sent email to [email protected] using your new email addresss, then received a challenge response and didn't respond to it, then your email will never get through. You might want to try that again and be sure to check your Comcast spam filter in case it is trapping the challenge response email sent back by ChoiceMail One when you send email using the new account.

I reproduced it with your saved game as well as with a new game. This is quite odd and I think its related to the compiler (we just switched from VS6 to VC2005 .Net in this update). I'm going to look into it right now. Standby. EDIT: OK, this has nothing to do with the compiler, as I was just able to reproduce this with a VS6 build. How come this is the first time I'm learning of this? Given that we had no less than six .12 updates and ample time to test it?
-
Sorry, no. It was done by Akella and has nothing to do with us.
-
Thats just not possible. In fact, I just tried it and it works just fine. You probably didn't save the game, or you are using cheats and have a corrupt game etc etc. There is nothing wrong with the resume/restore and it hasn't been touched since, well, 1994 actually. Send in your saved game to [email protected] (or upload to a server for download) and I'll take a look.

Multiplayer Servers Status
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in General Multiplayer Discussions
The mp servers will be down until further notice. There is a problem with the latest DirectX runtime and the console server running on non PS 1.1 hardware. This will be looked into this weekend and hopefully will be resolved over the weekend. -
The Direct2Drive patch is now online via the in game patcher.

If you were using the interim .12 patches, you can simply run the Updater (or download the full patch) and apply as normal. There is no need to re-install the game. This patch requires the February 2006 DirectX runtime [ 02-17-2006, 08:56 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Use the game Updater to download and apply the patch. The online VCF has also been updated. NOTES: If you use the game's Updater, the process will go like this: If you have any version lower than 1.00.07, it will download the 1.00.07 update first. After applying this, you need to run Updater again so that it can download the incremental update to the latest version. You will have to run the Update multiple times to get all the updates to the latest version. If you already have 1.00.07 or higher installed, it will download only the incremental update to the latest version. Also, you can now view the VCF directly from the Updater (once it has self-updated itself to the newer version which supports this). If you don't want to use the Updater, then you have to check one of the public mirrors for a link to the full patch; which you should then copy into the game's folder and execute from there. Though this latest patch contains a new SETTINGS.INI file, if the Updater downloads the patch but it doesn't run or you discover that it didn't patch, you may need to edit the SETTINGS.INI file in Notepad and make the following changes : version=1.00.12 to version=1.00.11 (or change this to whatever the previous version was) location=. to location=%updater% Then save the file and run the Updater again. WARNING: DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE PUBLIC PATCHES AVAILABLE ON DOWNLOAD MIRRORS IF YOU HAVE THE DOWNLOAD (DIRECT2DRIVE, TRYMEDIA ETC) VERSION OF THE GAME!! USE THE UPDATER INSTEAD. ONCE THE PUBLISHERS MAKE THEIR VERSIONS OF THE PATCH AVAILABLE, THE UPDATER WILL DOWNLOAD THEM. THE TIMETABLE FOR THOSE PATCH RELEASES IS UP TO THE PUBLISHER DUE TO HOW THEIR PROTECTION SYSTEM WORKS.

Product Activation
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Battlecruiser / Universal Combat (Legacy)
No activation requests have been received from either of you. I just checked the dB as well by your email addresses. So, wherever you two are sending it, its not to us. -
Well, it is official;; and the release is set for Spring.

...and so it goes It can only go downill from here. Those silly Canadians. -
Those whacky crackpots are at it again.

If you keep screwing developers, this is what happens. They no longer have any developers, no money and no new products. They're not going to be around much longer. Its only a matter of time now.

Another military intervention?
Supreme Cmdr replied to v01i0's topic in Politics, Religion & Legal etc
It'll never happen. However, the govt. does run these routine scenarios routinely so that they don't get caught with their pants down. If Bush even thinks of going into Iran, it will be the worst thing since Iraq. I don't even think Israel is brave - or crazy - enough to even consider it. Iran is a melting pot that could trigger WWIII. The best that Bush (or the next pres) can hope for, is to destabilize the govt. and oust the current radicals. Unfortunately, there isn't much of that in Iran, so this is highly unlikely. Heck, the opposition in Iraq couldn't pull it off. So it is highly unlikely that any such movement in Iran could.
