  1. I was talking about economics in this thread and wanted to use the current sales of BF2 as mentioned by DICE to drive a point home. As you can see, a company that puts out a sub-par and run-of-the-mill game like BF2 would get by with 250K units and be jumping for joy. But when you see a company project sell-in of about 4m (thats four million, ladies), you see where 1m is a flop. This is just an example of how the industry is and why companies are downsizing, shutting down, crappy games being made etc. ....and its only going to get worse.
  2. Please make sure that when you created thread subjects that they are descriptive. Also, don't post download links without accurate descriptions of what they are.
  3. Stock holders file class action lawsuit against Take Two.
  4. There is a reason that extensions such as IEtab and IEview exist.
  5. Well, that explains the layoffs Serves them right. Maybe now they'll stop releasing drab rehashes of the same old crap.
  6. Yeah, I kinda like it. Though I will stick with Firefox for now even though some sites still don't load properly. EDIT: Oh yeah, now I remember why I stopped using IE. They can't frigging get anything right. Try opening a local (on your HDD) html file and it won't open in a tab. No, that would be too easy. Instead, IE7 opens a whole new Window (if its the default browser; otherwise it loads it in the default browser). [ 02-03-2006, 08:14 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  7. I can't reproduce it. Sorry. If someone else can reproduce it reliably, then I would be willing to revisit the issue. Until then, I have no choice but to close this issue forthwith.
  8. Here we go again. With all the money they make, how can they possibly justify this? quote: I was one of the unlucky people who happened to be skilled enough to be let go today. You can bet I'll be spending the rest of my night at the bar. The layoffs were very skillfully done. Not a word of it leaked out to the company before the fact. Actually, just last week we were all reassured by our lead that our jobs were secure despite the reports of lower earnings, so none of us saw it coming. I happened to have a TFT (temp) working under me who was let go after his contract ran out on the 29th, and yesterday I was feeling bad that the guy didn't get hired for a permanent spot. He was extremely talented. Ironically, today I don't feel so bad. The timing was also carefully chosen: annual employee reviews come up on February 8th, and most reviews result in raises. By letting people go now they can not only spare themselves of having to give wage increases but skip out on the employee reviews as well. Again, skillfully done. They called me into a meeting room where they proceeded to tell me that they were cutting back, etc etc, and I was going to be a casualty of those cutbacks. They then pulled me into another meeting room with about 50 other people. I saw a couple good friends in there, people who had been working there far longer than me. Many of the women were crying. After splitting us up into groups they shuffled us up one by one for a short briefing to review severance details, and that was that. They told me to leave the building immediately, gave me a red badge (much like a scarlet letter, in a way) and said that if there was anything I wanted from my desk I had better get it now. I did so. I cashed in the rest of my game points for 7 crappy EA games -- there are definitely not 7 games in the EA store that are worth playing -- and went home. So let me take this opportunity to extend to you, EA, a giant middle finger. We worked extremely hard to make you rich. I hope you're happy. -Ex-EA Employee Redwood Shores Layoff

  11. When will the madness end? Well, at least now we know why MGM refused to give Perception permission for a new publisher, which led to the cancelation of SGA
  12. Take Two might be the target of a take over quote: SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. shares rebounded more than 10% Monday on takeover speculation after losing a quarter of their value last week amid concerns about the video game maker's corporate governance. Take-Two (TTWO16.19, +1.50, +10.2%) closed up at $16.19 to follow a Saturday report in the New York Post, citing unnamed sources, that the company has been in active talks with several buyout firms over the past week. The report comes after the stock fell 26% over four trading days last week. On Wednesday, the game publisher filed a document with securities regulators that contained a resignation letter from board member Barbara Kaczynski, who said she had concerns about the company's management.
  13. Its rubbish. I fracking hate it.
  14. I have pulled this scenario because it requires an INI update which is only available in the .04 patch update. I will re-release it when that update is out. [ 01-31-2006, 09:57 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  15. You save the game first. Then restore and see if you can still reproduce it. If you can, then send me the save game.
  16. If you are running the SF executable (it is about 12MB) I sent you, it has debug information and should display more info than what you have displayed above. Are you sure you are running the correct UCAWA.EXE file? Also, if you reproduce this error in a new game, save the game and send it to me. You also need to try running at 800x600 and let me know if it crashes when you attempt to resize the window. You seem to be running at 1024x768 and you should be able to display ALL 20 marines on the left pane. The only time you will see 19 marines on the left-pane, is if you drag the top part of the right-pane up/down. The ONLY time a window can be resized, is if it has been shrunk. You can left-click on any window heading and drag up/down to shrink/expand it. And I need to know WHICH pane you are dragging that is causing the CTD. EDIT: You might want to update your drivers. The latest is 82.12 [ 01-30-2006, 04:27 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  17. I asked you to provide me with the screen display showing the crash info so that I can see where it is crashing. Where is it? Also I need the saved game that you are using. And as I suspected, this has nothing to do with intruders, but is rather a graphics driver issue.
  18. If you have this version, you need to do the following to convert it: Install the original download version of UCAWA or UCG if not already installed. Download the UCAWA or UCG conversion, copy it into the game install folder and execute it. This will convert your current Trmedia version to the Starforce v1.00.13 version. Send your order info to [email protected] with the subject Trymedia Conversion and state whether you have UCAWA or UCG. Upon receipt of your order information, you will be issued with a Starforce ProActive activation key which can be used to activate the product. Once you have converted to the SF version as indicated above, you can then use the Starforce patches for all future updates. [ 03-20-2007, 07:45 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  19. v1.00.12.03 is up. Check the VCF for revision info.
  20. The entire game world is always active. AG has nothing to do with that.
  21. OK, now try that SF v1.00.12.02 in full screen.
  22. We have no less than three different [protected] versions of the game in circulation and maintaining them is taking up more resources than first anticipated. To this end, effective Feb. 1st, we will no longer be selling the Trymedia protected versions of UCG and UCAWA. This leaves us with only two protection schemes to support and concentrates our digital sales through Digital River and IGN's Direct2Drive. If you currently own a copy of the TryMedia version, you will be contacted via email and given instructions on how to convert your version to the Digital River (Starforce ProActive protected) version. If you don't hear from us by Feb 6th, please contact [email protected] and be sure to provide your Trymedia sales receipt as proof of ownership. ps: If you want to immediately convert your version, you can send us email right away, with the requested information. 23. You can't use 'autogen' like that because it is not region specific. It is a global command that affects the entire game world when on|off. btw when posting scripts, you need to enclose them in 'code' tags to make them readable.
