  1. aha!!! I KNEW it. This stupid movie is down 67% in its second week. Now that bad, real bad. Good. Thats the last time these b*stards pull this stunt again.
  2. Is there a soundtrack for the movie out yet? If so, I need to grab it. As for the film ending, somehow, if Vincent had got away, that would have made for a less formulaic ending; what do you guys think?
  3. Did anyone watch this? It is a five episode series on USA Network and for a popcorn movie, it was quite good. I didn't catch the last episode last night, but I taped it. So I'll probably watch it tonite with this week's episode of Dead Zone. If you didn't catch 4400, when the inevitable DVD comes out, you should get it. Its, well, quite interesting to say the least. That means no chest bursters - no swearing - no BLOOD (human blood, anyway) - and no SCARY. We're gonna get a straight-out WWE-style smackdown between Aliens and Predators with some really bad actors thrown in to salt the wound. I see what you mean about the R rating; but again, why is a PG-13 such a bad thing? They're just trying to make sure that everyone and their dog, sees this one. As for the bad actors, I dunno. Lance Henriksen is not a bad actor. The others are no-name actors, but thats a good thing if they're trying to breathe new life into the franchise. Remember also that this is not an Aliens or a Predator film. Its just the much and long awaited throw down between two intergalactic bad asses and they just want everyone to be able to watch it. Blood, guts and gore do NOT make a movie good. If done properly, a PG-13 lets the viewer make up the rest with their own imagination; assuming the viewer actually has one. I, for one, welcome a PG-13 rating because it means I'm not going to be pissed (and leave) as I was over Blade 2. As you can see, Blade 2 was gory beyond belief; while Hellboy was just great. Same directors.

  11. Might as well continue this here. quote: Originally posted by Scrivener: quote: Just imagine if next week I went to see AvP and it turns out to be a love orgy between the predators and the aliens. I'd be pissed. Well, based on the early previews I've talked about and the recently-announced PG-13 rating, you might not be too far off there... Oh, yeah, thats what I want to do; listen to your friends from the Art Institute. And a movie doesn't need an R rating to be good. A PG-13 suits me just fine; as long as it is entertaining, the rating doesn't mean anything. Anyone who pre-judges a movie based on a rating, is a FOOL.
  12. I'm off to see it this afternoon after church and lunch. Yeah, wot a combo. EDIT: Just came back from seeing it. Absolutely wicked and typical Michael Mann. I did think the ending was a bit limp as I hoped for something a little more dramatic. I also was a tad disappointed that I didn't get to see the typical Mann throw-down. You know, when all those badasses converge at the club. Now I want to go and watch HEAT again for the umpteenth time. 9/10 [ 08-08-2004, 04:57 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  13. Darn it. My conversion scheme isn't working. brb ps: I DO get it; but I had known what kind of movie it was, I would NOT have gone to see it. Thats the point I'm trying to make. Just imagine if next week I went to see AvP and it turns out to be a love orgy between the predators and the aliens. I'd be pissed.

  15. I was just kidding. I don't plan on changing it.
  16. Looks like in ucHTL I need to start giving violations and court-martial points for purposefully killing your crew. Either that or I just reset the AI to the dumb levels each time someone gets cloned. Yeah, that should plug this hole real good.
  17. Lets see... There's nothing wonky about it. There are several threads on the forum discussing how to train your AI so that they don't do wonky things due to low AI. Also, if you don't want your CC to take off, engage the A/P and give it the HALT order. Its in the manual. Thats the reason the game has a pause button. No PDF manual will be available. Besides, you would still have to switch away from the game to read it. And the game will most definitely not like that. At all. The distance at which your craft emerges, depends on the size your ship and the size of the target. This calculation is made in order to prevent you from colliding with the jump target. Its in the manual. Yeah, that would be nice; but its not as easy to implement as you might think. This is not an RTS game. Thats why Tacops has a HOLD button. Freeze the game AI and order your troops about. If you want to do something like managing a massive deployment of units, you have to be prepared to deal with the work involved with that. Naming things is silly. You're complaining about the amount of clicks involved with ordering multiple marine units around.....and you want to be able to name thing; especially given the number of units that are in the game. Yeah. So don't do it. The game requires exclusive use of the system resources; which is why you are explicitly told - as with many games - not to have ANYTHING running in the background that you would have to switch to. There are many utilities on the net (there is topic about it in the tech support forum as well) that allow you to disable the Windows key system wide or on a per game basis. Or you could just use a flatbed screwdriver. No game can be all you want it to be and yes, gripes are good because it means I've done something worthy of discussion. But remember, play a game for it is, not what you wished or want it to be.
