Like I said, if you can reproduce it, I'd like to see the saved game file.

Universal Combat - First Impressions

quote: Originally posted by ToxicFrog: although, the status bars and their labels on the left are misaligned at 1280x1024; I don't know if this is a game issue or a gfx driver issue, but it's a bug in something. It's also somewhat bizarre to see a missile slam into a station's hull, followed by the station's shields - quite some distance beyond the hull - lighting up. The drive trails also seem to be intermittent at times; perhaps I'm hitting some kind of particle limit? the screen is misaligned at certain unsupported resolutions (I have yet to address this). check the VCF with shields, missiles won't impact the object at all - thats why they are shields contrails are based on the velocity of the craft. They are not rendered at low velocity. -
I got it.

*sigh* I dunno what's worse. Someone screwing up and knowing they screwed up and admitting it. Or someone screwing up and then trying to compound the problem - after wasting everyone's time - by making excuses. The files on the downloads page are 100% correct and very descriptive. If you downloaded the wrong file, blame yourself for that; don't blame it on the downloads page. -
The zip file you sent is corrupted and has been deleted. Try sending again - but before you do, try unzipping the file you just sent.
-
Yeah, I'm going to give the new one a whirl this weekend. I stopped playing the current demo because of the griefing b*astards.

There is a subject in this very forum, that points to saved game distribution. And yes, the files should be zipped.

You all need to re-register because I flushed the Wraith dB.
-
OK, you all need to re-register in the fleet dB because I flushed it - along with Wraith. Greg, were in a leadership position in Orion? If so, I can restore it. If not, do you want to head it with Zane?
-
As per this post by Marvin Actually, I am beginning to wonder if S.C.I.D would be better served under the Prime Fleet heirarchy. Any objections? If not, I will move it back - permanently - and then move Krekol out of there into Primus (after all, he is the alliance leader and can stick himself in any fleet he wants).

In the upcoming patch, all the fleet related stations currently in the single player world, are going to be mirrored in the mp galaxy. This means that all the station names in the mp galaxy will also bear the names of fleets (if any) the belong to. e.g. Paladian will become Paladian-GHQ. ...which of course means that new stations are going to be added. -

I won't let you down. I know you won't. Do you want your own fleet? I ask because some of you regulars shouldn't have to answer to other regulars if you don't want to. Especially since most of you have as much experience. So, if there is an open fleet (in which I have fired all the primaries) that you'd like to lead, say the word and its yours. The Prime and Insurgent fleets have very stable leadership, so I'm not going to mess with those. quote: Originally posted by DREADA: Aside from all this fleet stuff, with just one more exam to go before I say goodbye to the 20hr working days, 100 page reports and more engineering calculus than you can shake a stick at, you don't know how I'm itching just to check out this MP experience Well, I fired everyone from Orion and Wraith. So, you need to re-register with Wraith. And once you do, I will increase your security level and you get to head that fleet until I hear from Tac. -

I need a volunteer to check/verify the links on the main fleets page please and let me know which are dead, changed, new etc etc so that the page can be updated. -
Start by reading the fleets FAQ. Then contact the recruiting officer of the desired fleet. You can do this by checking in the fleet's dedicated forum. Once you have the info you need, you can then register for the desired fleet. Then wait to be approved.

Everyone else just sents me PM regardless. At least you remembered that I don't like PMs, unless they're important and worthy of my time and attention. quote: Originally posted by Remo Williams: It’s not so much that I was ineffective but just overloaded. That’s why in the last week or so I've tried to delegate some of the duties I have to others such as Marvin, Gordon and Kalshion. ...hence the reason I am trying to restructure and kick start the fleets so that more than one person has access to the dB and can administer it, auth new recruits, do recruiting etc etc e.g. Marvin - apart from being retired and bored - has become a significantly important resource. So, with him having access to the dB he can handle some aspects of the Prime Fleet stuff while you're AWOL. Or something. The Insurgents seem to be doing fine and there is always an ICV presence on the MP servers. All they have to do now is delete from the ranks, those they know to be gone, haven't reported in etc etc. And thats what I need ALL fleets to do. If you delete someone, when they return, they can just rejoin. No big deal. The Wraith, ISS, Orion, EarthCom fleets etc, are in a shambles (pretty much) and they need to be beefed up. Everyone joined Prime because apart from being the first fleet, it is the best run (second to the Insurgents) fleet and has a lot of members. The question is, do we move some people from Prime to the other Ter/Mil fleets? I have no problems doing that, but its up to the fleet leaders to make that decision. All I want is for the fleets to organized. Right now, I'm looking for leaders who can keep their fleet dB up to date, recruit and orient new members, get actively involved in the mp aspects etc etc. And so far I've got some volunteers already. All fleets should have a least two people with Alliance Leader security access in order to properly administer their fleet. Most of the official testers - with experience - have admin access to the dB as well. So, there is NO reason why there should be stale members in the fleets, no fleet activity etc etc. ....and there are three public servers, capable of handling a total of 64x3 people at any one time, 24-7. And while you ladies are all sitting around wondering wtf is going on; remember, being an active member of a fleet has its benefits. As you will soon find out. I'm doing this just because I bloody well feel like it. Nor did I pay to have the fleet dB redone just for the hell of it. -
Workflow for eventually becoming a Commander in Prime Fleet

Relocated crud.... quote: Originally posted by Marvin: Okay, I've finally dug my copy of the Prime Fleet Charter out from under all my old military publications and drafts for the PF Training Manual. I'm looking at Section 2c, Ranks and Organization. Sir, could you please clarifiy the Fleet position I'm to accept? Is it one of those listed: G5: Public Relations G4: Logistix ... er, Logistics G3: Tactical G2: Intelligence G1: Personnel Or would it be a different G-note? Since the Academy has been elevated in stature, shouldn't Commandant, Prime Fleet Academy be a Fleet position? After all, in the good ol' USAF, Air Training Command (ATC) is (was? not sure if it still exists) a Command-level organization ... which, I believe, is akin to the Fleet-level structure of the Navy. Awaiting your reply, SC. quote: Originally posted by Gudihl: quote:Originally posted by Marvin: Okay, I've finally dug my copy of the Prime Fleet Charter out from under all my old military publications and drafts for the PF Training Manual. Is it one of those listed: G5: Public Relations G4: Logistix ... er, Logistics G3: Tactical G2: Intelligence G1: Personnel Heh, this Prime Fleet Structure has been made up by me. Within a fleet organised in this structure, there are only three people who would have "X leader" rank in the Fleet Database (X = Fleet, or Wing): G6 Fleet Leader (CO) G6 Staff Chief (2nd in command, or XO) G1 Personell (Note: In a Wing, the 2nd in command is combined with public relations, thus denoted S5 Staff Chief) Now, you are either one of these three. The G6 Staff Chief is empty at the moment, IIRC (did not hear from Mark Giao for an eternity, or two). On a side note, if S.C.I.D. is still a fleet, then there is a Fleet Commander position, G6 Fleet Leader, vacant. Or, your may have been promoted to G6 Fleet Leader of Prime Fleet by our SC, which would mean I am fired, er retired... Let's see what our SC decides on that matter. quote: Or would it be a different G-note? Since the Academy has been elevated in stature, shouldn't Commandant, Prime Fleet Academy be a Fleet position? After all, in the good ol' USAF, Air Training Command (ATC) is (was? not sure if it still exists) a Command-level organization ... which, I believe, is akin to the Fleet-level structure of the Navy. Awaiting your reply, SC. As I would see it, CO of the Prime Fleet Academy would be equal to a Wing Leader position. We could set up a wing called "Academy"... Best regards quote: Originally posted by Cmdr Chavik: The absent fleet leader cries when his position is threatened. The De Facto fleet leader is happy to give his position to someone most deserving. Can we stop this G6, G347, G+3 crud? Can we stop ADDING officers? Unless there are about 5 people to populate a wing it doesn't need to exist. Ya'll want to do all this fancy stuff when it isn't warranted yet. Populate Multiplay first. -

You have a corrupted install or game. And I can bet my last dime you were using the quick save feature - though NOWHERE in the tutorial did I say to use it. The game date/time tells me that the game has been running for a while (the start time for the game is 21:00)- and quite possibly was from an unsupported save game format. Dunno. And if you really wanted to research the problem, you would have started a new game and checked this data again. Instead of sending in a screen cap of game thats almost an hour and half in. You're on your own. Do send us a postcard when you get where you're going.
