  1. I am going to re-open this thread - though Jaguar closed it. Until now, I have never had to overrule one of my mods, but an email I just received, caused me to come here and investigate this. Read this.

  4. The reason I'm re-opening some closed threads is so that as long as these threads don't devolve into personal attacks, name calling etc, everyone is allowed to have their opinion. As long as those opinions are expressed with courtesy and within the rules of this website, we're all OK. If any of you tits who don't know how to debate without going overboard, just even think of pissing around with me on this and cause these threads to devolve, not only will I close the threads and kill the forum entirely, the offenders and EVERYONE who posted in the thread, will be BANNED from the site. NO EXCEPTIONS. If you don't know how to have a heated debate (which are 100% allowed!!) without being insulting, derogatory to another poster etc, go watch an episode of CNN's Crossfire. Or something. So, go ahead, piss around with me on this. I dare you. In fact, I double dare you. [ 06-03-2004, 02:55 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

  6. Which part was unclear? OK, let me rephrase it. You have a car. It works. You know how to drive it. You don't need to know how the engine works in order to drive that car.
  7. If the order you gave the shuttle corresponds to the OC you deployed, it will extract it if within range. Are you asking about marine extraction or ordering them about? Both are in the Tacops section of the manual.
  8. At some point today, SERVER4 will be taken down for HW upgrade. So don't be surprised if you get kicked off.

  10. quote: Originally posted by kencol: SC, I don't know, maybe something got corrupted somewhere along the way. I'll try re-installing and see if that cures it. Thanks. Whatever. But if you derail this thread, you will be banned. You know the rules. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  11. No such map exists, only my early sketches of all the deck locations. No, I don't plan on spending time collecting them, scanning them and all that nonsense. At the end of the day, they add nothing to the game and are useless within the scope of actually playing the game.

  13. quote: Originally posted by kencol: SC, On the issue of the background voices not being heard on the bridge, everything in the options page is enabled and I'm still not getting any voices like I was before. I just tried it. Works just fine. I didn't do ANYTHING wrt soundfx in these patches. Try turning up the volume on your sound card and speakers
  14. Sorry guys, the file name extension was incorrect when I updated the page. Try it now.
  15. I just updated the servers to use the 2.00.03 refresh patch. If you were on SERVER4 a few mins ago when it disconnected, that was me. Sorry; there is no way to send a server message in console mode.
  16. If you previously downloaded 2.00.03 before reading this, you need to download it again and re-apply ontop of your current version. I found an error in one of the system scripts and which I have corrected.
  17. quote: Originally posted by UltraMage: The new Intruder and Marauder are nice, but are still of little to no value in roam since you can't really put AI troops or vehicles in them (they end up on top), nor can they operate the crafts' guns. Will the AI ever be allowed to use them in UC? You can get them to enter any craft if you give them the dock order (you will see how in the tutorial I am wrapping up). But you can't get them to exit again. I don't plan on making them use craft guns in UC, because its a whole new layer of AI code that needs to be written for it. I plan on doing this (and other nifty things) in the next UC game. What I do plan for them in a future UC update, is to be visible (like your player character, once thats fixed) in open vehicles (e.g. CAV, UAV etc) and be able to enter/exit crafts using TOM orders. Thats it.
  18. Based on an NFO file sent in by someone earlier, here is the response from Macrovision. Derek, Can you please confirm if the user is getting "Debuggers message" or "Emulation detection message". I found ELBYVCD.SYS driver loaded on user’s system which is basically a Clone CD driver. This should give emulation detection error instead of debugger detection error. Can we get the snapshot of the error? Attached is the snapshot of the clone CD finding. By the way I can see a number of SafeDisc protected program installed in user’s system and I am assuming all running fine. They might have used a little older version of SafeDisc. Some suggestion I found on the net on how to remove Clone CD. (1) Uninstall the VCD. Uninstall CloneCD if you have to; before doing that, make sure you have your CloneCD serial handy. (2) Search the registry(Start>run>search files)) for ELBYVCD.DLL and ELBYVCD.SYS files and delete them. Try the game again after removing ELBYVCD Clone CD is from Elaborate Byte and I think Daemon tools is the older name. If you look in the NFO file you sent, that driver that Macrovision is talking about is in C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32DRIVERS folder Basically, this person has remnants of an older version of CloneCD, which was previously not uninstalled properly. If you remove this remnant (follow the instructions above), then re-install CloneCD/Daemon tools and then *disable* them properly before running the game, everything should be fine.

If I changed any model, it will be noted in the VCF. Turrets on starbases and starstations are designed to shoot down missiles, regardless of type. An OTS is a missile.

Why cant i hit Vehicles which are very small in size in a tank? i tryed to decouple the maingun on my mayem and aimed all the way down but never hitted one, the bigger tanks are no problem but smaller ones like ATV and so on are non killable, because the gun dont aim down The turret/gun will not go beyond its limits. If it did, it would intersect the body of the model. To hit targets like that, you have to be at a larger distance.
  22. I have released 2.00.03 to the reg page and all mp servers are now running this version as well. The tutorial is almost finished and will be made available as a separate download when ready.
  23. Also make sure that the distance between both waypoints is at least 10km or the shuttle will keep overshooting - especially if it has to nav across rocky terrain during approach (which is why the terrain/object avoidance kicks in).
  24. How stuff works has a writeup about our beloved inbound console.
  25. As I posted elsewhere earlier today.... After I did some final testing, it became obvious that using the scenarios which shipped with the game - including the four new ones I freely included in the 2.0 patch - were not adequate for the tutorial. Reason being that they I had no control over the scenario. And unless the reader followed the tutorial to the letter T, they would end up playing it over and over. In the end, I decided to create four new scenarios, specially designed for the tutorial, and in which I had more control e.g. in the commander career training scenario, I manually disabled the launch sytems and fire control systems on a station, in order to prevent it from interfering with the scenario (in which the player is shown how to intercept, interrogate and prosecute hostile targets using command and control methods) by firing on the hostile elements, launching ships to thwart the threat etc etc. That meant that I had to, not only re-write four new scripts, but 50% of the already written tutorial text, had to be scrapped since it centered around the actual game scenarios as originally written. I expect to wrap it up sometime today and it will be available via the registration link.
