If a station (which it won't be, since nowhere did I say anything about station capture) is flagged as being the capture target, then obviously that scenario won't be for planet bound players. quote: Originally posted by Cc: maybe you could be more specific on what could be added. 2. In order to collect cargo from a pod, the pod has to be removed once empty. Since you can't remove objects that are in orbit, there's your answer. Besides, I have NO clue why you'd want to put pods in orbit around anything, when you can just create them near other entities already in the world. You can't create new mzones. Use the ones that are there already.
  3. Whoa!! Thats cool!! Looking forward to the next installment!!
  4. Once the final 1.00.02 patch is released (probably at RC10 level), that will be the last extensive patch for the game. All future patches will be minor incrementals over a long period of time - similar to the BCM and BCM Gold patches. To this end, mp in UC as of this patch, is good enough for those wanting to explore together, deathmatch, play co-op (where all players are of the same race/caste and take on NPCs with AG turned on etc). However, I am considering implementing a sort of gameplay (Vanquish) mode (similar to Conquest for BF1942) whereby players battle for the control of spawn points in order to win the session. Because the game tech does not have the concept of maps, there can't be any map rotation when a round ends. To this end, I'm thinking of just using the standard scenario timer to determine when the scores are being tallied, deciding which side won etc. and then awarding a victory point to the side which captures the most spawn points during a session (which may last up to 30 mins). Of course this would work both in space and on planets and one thing I'm going to have to do, is to introduce a server side config which disables all cap ships. This way, only fp careers, vehicles, shuttles, naval units and fighters can be used. Any thoughts? And please DO NOT ask for features - this is a PvP mp game mode I am THINKING of doing and I'm not in the mood to discuss wish lists which are NEVER going to be implemented. /pre-emptive strike NO, I'm not doing a CTF play mode [ 03-18-2004, 07:07 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  5. No, I wasn't. Remember you heard it here first.
  6. Penny Arcade's review
  7. I hear that Planetside is next on the chopping block.
  8. I have a ZS10 for when I need to keep them at bay. And for melee, the butt of a SCAT1 works wonders.
  9. BOOM!!! Ryan Brant is gone.
  10. Yep, like Allegiance, Motorcity Online etc this too has now been grounded. Next up, Eve Online (since S&S has already dropped it and left CCP to handle it I think) OK, so now we only have Jumpgate (flegling), Darkspace (dying or dead) and Eve Online (struggling) for the MMOG space sims. I guess I've got my work on BCO cut out for me. But then again, its not a pure space sim, so I'm not particularly concerned.
  11. I have made significant progress with the UC mp kernel and its wrapping up soon. I am going to be updating the VCF, later this afternoon. Once RC8 is released, the other pending fixable single player issues are going to be looked into. RC8 geared primarily toward mp related issues.
  12. 1. Objects in orbit cannot be moved 2. No
  13. Isn't there a topic about this already?

  15. This is what MS cancelled Mythica for.
  16. Yep, thanks. I knew I wasn't losing my mind..oh wait. Nevermind.
  17. Bill Clinton is getting $12 million for his memoirs. His wife Hillary got $8 million for hers. That's $20 million for memories from two people, who, for eight years repeatedly testified under oath, that they couldn't remember anything. - God Bless America. ============================================ "I have come to the conclusion that one useless man is called a disgrace, that two or more are called a law firm and that three or more become a congress." - John Adams, 1776 =============================================
  18. Actually the waypoint height is irrelevant. So even if your cursor position (where you want to play the waypoint) shows a negative number, it does not mean that the craft is going to go under the terrain at that location. The problem is when you place waypoints on a slope. I'm getting a feeling of Deja Vu like I've already discussed this before. Somewhere.
  19. No, he placed a waypoint on a slope and the shuttle ended up under the terrain while attempting to intercept it. Nothing I can do about it.
  20. Why would he need to patch first? The statement he made, is just stupid. He is - foolishly talking about Earth as seen from space, due to its angle of rotation. All I did in the patch was move the starting position of the stations out, so that more of the planet could be seen. But that doesn't take away from the fact that only a complete fool would not have - at the very least, flown around the planet. Or *gasp*, just targeted it in the NID and observed it from the F10 camera view in order to see that its not a solid color sphere. And thats part of the problem. Some of these people just can't be bothered with actually doing the work of actually playing games they review. They want to jump in, make some braindead notes, jump out, write a review, get paid. Pathetic.
  21. BBC's report on Sedna
  22. Whats wrong with the demo tutorial on the downloads page? If you ignore the scenarios that it references, it just fully reflective of the retail game. A tutorial that is geared toward the retail game is currently WIP and will be released with the final 1.00.02 patch.
  23. At least I know where my marketing dollars are going now.
  24. This just in!! As per my request, DC are going to be providing four 32-player servers for multiplayer for a four month period!! [ 05-07-2004, 08:24 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
