  1. Moved from a now deleted (was duplicate) thread quote: Originally posted by Cc: Has anyone else noticed something 'a little strange' about forward /reverse movement in multiplayer first person mode? First of all this happens in MP only, not SP.Using any career go to a planet if you are not already there and exit your asset.Immediately you will move forward or backward depending on the mouse position.Moving the mouse 'down' on the mousepad will move you forward and 'up' will move you backward, and this is independent of any 'W' or 'S' key command.Moving mouse to the midscreen position will almost, but not completly, stop the movement. In fact this motion is more like gliding than the normal walking or running motion. While 'gliding' switching to a external camera angle (F9) indicates no motion is occuring. You can crouch or go prone with no effect. And the status bar does not indicate any command to move. Going into config and reversing Y axis does reverse the effect.Going into config and switching to keyboard only (no mouse) controls has no effect. I've checked VCF,manual, etc. and do not see anything about this.If someone else could verify this I would appreciate it,just so the SC doesn't think I'm crazy. BTW this is 100 percent reproducible, not an intermittent problem. Also this doesn't have anything to do with mouselook.Switching on mouselook will stop the motion but releasing mouselook it will continue. Thanks..
  2. This is non-issue and works as designed. If you die in the game and you try to resume, you are still dead. You have to quit the game entirely or restore from a full save.
  3. You twinkies have got to be shitting me. She asked for this about a month ago and some genius (looks suspiciously like ol' Wolfie 'imself ) decides to revive the thread a month later? Echo, did you make a decision yet?
  4. The GameSpy review is up too. Its rubbish. The game is good, but that review makes it seem better than it really is. The game is really not such a big leap that it couldn't have been an add-on for BF:1942. Or at the very least, priced as a minor sequel (e.g. $29.99), similar to how Novalogic priced Sabre Team (truly sub-par), the add-on to Black Hawk Down. I suspect that its going to see a price drop inside of two weeks, down to $29.99 (or less) - especially with the juggernaut that is going to be UT2K4 (damn, this game is cool).

  6. quote: Originally posted by CyKlone: Hmm, by memory. 2 order of the universe. 1 Star of Merit 1 Eye of Andromeda 1 Commander's Shield OK, so you didn't do very well then. Because the ultimate rewards are +2 COMBAT SHIELD MEDAL +1 AWARD FOR GALLANTRY MEDAL +5 PLANETARY SHIELD MEDAL +4 EYE OF ANDROMEDA MEDAL +4 COMMANDERS SHIELD +1 ORDER OF THE UNIVERSE MEDAL +1 STAR OF MERIT MEDAL And if all 4 diplomats dock, an additional +1 ORDER OF THE UNIVERSE MEDAL +200000 EXPERIENCE POINTS quote: bout 330K exps... im not sure about the total amount but i know one i received was 200KYeah, you get 200K if all 4 diplomats dock. You should also be at Supreme Cmdr rank. quote: As for the Empirian ships, i dont remember meeting them or prolly didnt go in there sector, prolly i just missed them but i met and still have 2 Syrian ships with me in LV130.GCV-MRALISTIV and GCV-SRALTIN are two of the four ships which make up the Wildcat fleet operating in Omega Centauri. Check your COMMLINK log.
  7. quote: Originally posted by CyKlone: ACM 1 was great! all finished and cleared. Now as you said, im being in ROAM mode if i understand. Can i request another ACM Mission?? Ive clicked to request one but nothing happens. All counters are at 00.00.00 and the last one is in green. Should i only roam or wait, parked somewhere for the next mission?? CK Thats it. You've played it. Its not ACM 1. Thats all the scenarios rolled into one single ACM scenario. You're done. So, what did you get in the end when all four ships safely docked? ps: You didn't reply to my question about the Empirian ships.
  8. Man, you guys are mean. For my part, might I suggest that you, uhm, just take the drive out and toss in the back of the garbage truck so that it gets mangled into unrecognizable chunks?
  9. You buying a Palm? How ghey is that? I have an iPAQ 5455 and it does everything except make me lunch. I upgraded it to PPC 2003 and now it makes toast.

  11. I was over in the Avault forums, chatting about BF Vietnam, this, that and the other and came across a post about Sundog. And then found out that there's a remake in the works. OK, if you have no clue what Sundog is, step over here and hand in your gamer card. Thank you
  12. quote: Originally posted by CyKlone: Actually im confused, were Rabid One and Two from Pravis or Gam Sector? They are part of the Wildcat fleet. So that puts them in Otura-9. They conduct covert ops in Omega Centauri and I just divert them (via the script) in order to assist you in the campaign. btw, did you join up with the two Empirian ships? They later cloak for the duration of the mission. quote: something you didnt know as well is i was beta tester for early version of BCM but never afford to buy the original game so i never really really learnd all the mechanix of the game but now UC rocks and im looking forward to get the 2 new products by 3000ad and it teams.Really? That must've been back when I did the open Beta program for BCM. Now I see why you're so hell bent on breaking and/or beating my scenario script. Love it. Considering what you're doing with this campaign, would like to get back in the Beta program? If so, send me a PM.
  13. quote: Originally posted by Darkreaver1980: why dont make it so that marines can damage all building, not the full damage, i would say like 10% from the firepower, so we have a reason to use them. Its fun to watch Marines vs Marines combat, but i have no reason to do it, i want to kill the base not the marines :-) No 1. fp weapons are not designed for taking out buildings (only launchers can do that) 2. You're not supposed to use personnel for that. You have vehicles and fighters for that
  14. quote: Originally posted by CyKlone: First, ive sold a lot of my inv to get max shield and armor. Yeah, this is why (in the final version to be included in the RC8 patch) I am going to be adding cargo pods in the first opening phase of the scenario and adding Radine etc to them. quote: 2)Flux Field 10 to Mundial (believe it or not, 1 jump was necessary! what a luck)What did you do with your escorts (assuming they survived the opening skirmish in Pravis) when you jumped through a flux field? quote: 3)From Mundial to Ylisia 4) Flux Field 12 to LV104 in Alpha Cigny (had to fight a couple fighters and carriers, capturing 2 of them) 5)From LV104 to LV103. Aren't you glad you have multiple choices? quote: 67% percent of the crew and fleet composition weren't agreeing with the decision since it might jeopardize the delegates.heh, no kidding quote: Since GCV Fearless was in control of mission, convoy followed.ah, right. I really should have modeled in mutiny in the AI logic for crew. btw, did you know that if you have a probe in a region (that you are not in) that in SCI-LINK mode you can order ships in that region to do jumps from that region to another - as well as give them various orders as if your CC were in their region? *topic moved out of tech support*
  15. Anyone get this yet?
  16. Personnel are not supposed to attack buildings - especially not without the weapons (launchers) that can damage them. I have made a note to look into this
  17. quote: Originally posted by richterm: Well, I've now officially kept my ship alive for almost 5 hours. I think it's a record. hehe, and I'm sure repeated saves had a lot to do with it. quote: Originally posted by richterm: Although, I will confess that I am playing pretty cautious right now...the longer I have this ship, the less I'm willing to do something stupid to get us all killed. So that's probably helping me to get into it. And thats EXACTLY how the game was designed to be played.
  18. Be advised. nVidia have confirmed a bug in ALL drivers since the 53.03 release and which affects fogging on their FX cards. So, if you have one of these cards and you are on a planet in UC, there will be over fogging. There is NO way around it until they release a driver fix. So, if you have an FX card, stick with the 53.03 drivers and nothing higher - if you plan on playing on the planet.
  19. quote: Originally posted by CyKlone: Since im the kamikaze type commander, we decided to take a shortcut..... F12 to Ylisia!! Kamikaze doesn't even begin to describe it. How did you pull that off? Lemme guess, you towed everyone. quote: I took several reload to keep at least 3 out of the 4 diplomats since the escortsCheater!!! quote: (Rabid One and Two) werent completely listening to my orders (hothead commanders i guess). No, they have a rather AI level and as such will sometimes countermand your orders if they think you're being incompetent e.g. sending them to their deaths or against incredible odds, is a definite no-no. quote: Im glad i havent make the trip all the way back by known space as i assume that ambushes are setup here and there in that ACM hehe.heh, I'm surprised that you actually made it out of Alpha Cygni, to be honest - especially since there is a hostile fleet patrolling Alpha Cygni, Omega Eridani and a few others (had you taken the long way around).
  20. quote: Originally posted by ProXimity: Just thought you would want to know. If you would rather not hear these kind of findings here. I certainly do and I have logged it for further investigation. quote: Actually, I would like to be a developer or tester, modeler/artist or contributer in some way to 3000AD.uhm, hmmmm, your first stop would be to send a resume to [email protected] because I'm always looking for a few good men.
  21. quote: Originally posted by Golem: I bought the game in hopes that a TUTORIAL of some sort to tell me how to play in a reasonable amount of time. The manual is a great reference tool but I feel like I'm getting ready for a mid-term exam when I'm going through it. I was also hoping that I could join up in a multiplayer so someone could show me the ropes (doubt anyone would considering the general "I'm smarter than thou" attitudes). There is no tutorial because there was NO time to do one. The one I did for the demo, is available for download. I'm sure you can find your way to the downloads page, right? BCM Gold shipped with a printed tutorial because there was time for me to do one and the page count for the manual (which got chopped to sh*t by Dreamcatcher in the European release) allowed it. If the manual reads like a mid term exam paper, then you're going to fail - not only at learning how to play the game, but also at that mid term exam. Multiplayer in games is not for joining up to learn the ropes from other players. Gimme a break. What game have you been playing and which gave you this option? If you feel so bad about it, why don't YOU host a server and ask someone to join up and teach you the ropes? quote: Originally posted by Golem: Chances are this post is going to get erased, but I'll do it anyway since whoever read it had to have had something with the game. Actually, I'm not going to delete it because, if anything, the absurdity of the post is testament to what happens when opinions are mindlessly conveyed. I don't think you put much thought into that post. Like most, you MISSED the part where MY games were not designed, nor developed, for gamers who don't general like nor play these games. They're not shooters. They're not mindless cookie cutter games. They cater to a specific audience - and judging by the sales of ALL the BC games, obviously that audience is large enough to sustain it and allow us to continue developing these games. If anything, you can blame the publisher for wanting to expand a franchise such as this beyond the realms of gamers who actually LIKE these kind of games. That is EXACTLY what happens when you try to dumb down a flight sim in order to cater to an audience of gamers who never will, get it. Even the great Larry Holland, recently made the same mistake in the disaster that was Secret Weapons Over Normandy - which IMO, was probably aimed at grabbing the fans of Microsoft's Crimson Skies (?) games. It happens ALL the time and UC is NO exception (though most would like to think so). And reviewers - like gamers - are not infallible. And thats the reason why the reviews for this game, are so polarized. It all based on PERSONAL OPINION. Why would someone like, Andy Mahood (a notable sim reviewer), rate the game 75%, while some idiot with a website, see it fit to rate it at 30% - and with a badly written review to boot. Its called incompetence. Most gamers and reviewers are not competent enough to learn, grasp or play games like this. And most would rather just trash it than be objective about it. Others doing it probably for sensationalism; and thats why these fly-by-night review sites, come and go like chaff in the wind. The reviews for BCM Gold were higher than for UC. Take a wild guess WHY that is - especially when you consider that its basically from the same franchise and with the same core gameplay. You get a cookie if you guess correctly. Now I'm off to read the review to see how pissed I can get before my second cup of coffee. EDIT: quote: Originally posted by Hellbinder: Giving the gameplay a 3 out of 10??? I mean come on. That is so far from a true representation of this game its not even funny. uhm, this review was written on March 9th. Did they change the scores? Because I see gameplay got 6/10 and the overall score was 5/10. Anyway, am still reading it...
  22. The animation state is not saved, so I can see how this would happen. You can also reset it by just jumping or something (if you don't have a jetpack). Besides, why would anyone want to save the game while swimming.
  23. If you look in the VDD tab, it will show you when the ACM scenario will end. Since all four ships did not dock, the scenario will not auto-terminate (this only happens if ALL four of them dock), you do not get the *big* reward etc. So, now, you either restart it or just wait until it times out by itself (at which point it will revert to ROAM and you can continue playing). Remember, ALL FOUR diplomats have to dock - especially the first one. So, was it easy, hard, did you find any further problems? And did you notice the support craft the Syrions sent out? They are under your command btw. I am thinking of adding dropped cargo pods (with stuff like Radine, weapons etc in them) for destroying certain scenario related assets. But it doesn't look like that would be necessary - or is it? Don't forget, when an ACM scenario ends, it reverts to Roam, so whatever you had during the campaign, you still have.
