As a brother in arms, IF the SC will reconsider, I will stand good for him. I don't know him from Adam, but I know that if he gives his word, you can take it to the bank. Military people are/should be held to that standard. SC, give him another chance. If you will not allow him into the Galcom community, can we take him into the Spectre Fleet. I and Gallion will assist his transition. With ALL Due Respect! (Salute) Very well then. Decision reversed effective immediately. Most, if you know who Rattler is (at least to me), you'd know that he is one of the most respected members around here and a long time friend of most of us BC primaries. So, him vouching for you is the highest honor you can imagine and shouldn't be taken lightly. Step of out of line and you're on your own. Since he is an admin, he'll be banning you himself.

FYI, Jascatar's posting priviledges were revoked indefinitely last week.

ah yes, I change the forum so that after five mins you can't edit your original post. I did that to prevent abuse by people later editing their posts and then confusing the flow of a thread. Anyway, I think you should put the file in an MS Word or text file, this way I can probably print it to .PDF format. I am even considering having all the appendix files in BCG converted to PDF format and I recently bought pdfFactory Pro for something else I needed docs for.

quote: Originally posted by Gudihl: Another questions that just occured to me: what about those other GALCOM races, i.e. the Empirians, and the Vesperons? Do they have their own fleets, or do the known GALCOM fleets like Prime, Wraith, ISS, and Orion consist of members of all there races? Just wondering... Nope. Just like the Terran heirarchy, anyone who wants to create, say, an Empirian Military fleet, is welcome to do it. And the only support multiplayer race/caste options are those currently listed on the main page. No others will be created.

quote: Originally posted by Gudihl: But is there some need for those Marine Battalions to be Fleets? I'm not sure I understand the question. And the reason they should be within a fleet structure (like a wing) is because they should be part of a fleet command structure i.e. they are not on their own. Don't go assuming that the use of the word fleet just implies ships. It does not - and never did. In modern day warfare, how do, e.g. SEALS get to a strike zone? They don't have their own specific transports so they are usually deployed using any available military transport i.e. eigther by the marines, army, navy (e.g. via subs), even the CIA. Thats the idea. I have now removed the 7th and 15th from the top-level structure. If they are not obsolete, you folks can add them directly to the fleets to which they belong (in the same way you added those to the Prime fleet command structure). quote: Originally posted by Remo Williams: Indeed though it is a bit dated that's the same post I went by when I restructured Prime's wings and battalions recently. As I was discussing here though it seemed prime was missing a few marine battalions or divisions to accommodate all the different careers and Starbases. Unless all the terran military bases that are not occupied by one of the specialized fleets thru out the universe belong to Earth Command. In which case prime wouldn't need the extra battalions. I didn't add anything to the new fleet DB that wasn't listed on the fleets page as active or even present. Heck, half the entries on that page are dead links and I'm going to remove them from there AND from the fleet DB if I don't get the corrected information (posted in this thread) by the end of next week. I simply populated the new fleet DB with what I knew about. I have no idea about anything else outside of that and thats why I made a post that its the responsiblity of the FLs to populate the DB as they see fit. The corporations and other non-military fleets etc - as I've posted before in this thread - need to post their proposal, members, web page etc in order for a level 4 person (e.g. Gallion) to create a structure for them on the main alliance page. And I'm not going to allow people to just create fleets/corps willy nilly. Unless there are at least eight members in the proposal, its not getting added. And if a person is not in that fleet DB, they're never going to gain access to any official fleet server either run by 3000AD or anyone else for that matter. I didn't spend money building a DB nor on bandwidth so gits can misuse those resources. [ 08-10-2003, 08:14 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Thats just plain silly. Scrivener, Lucas has canned Full Throttle 2. Or did you not see that mentioned earlier?

Is that the movie that Mel Gibson directed? Anyway, if its in Aramaic, I'm there - ave been meaning to brush up on that since I'm sick of speaking geek.

quote: Originally posted by Scrivener: Of course! Cancel the good, promising games and keep making the crappy ones that never sell! What an absolutely BRILLIANT financial decision. Seriously, CDV needs to stop funding garbage like Grom and Blitzkrieg and put *more* money into projects like Galaxy Andromeda. Why not cancel some of those low-budget XBox titles? And how exactly is it that you know that the cancelled game was good and promising? Fact is, IG3 had a lot of setbacks and I already predicted - back when the entire dev team quit - that it would be canned. It seems I was right and that the re-assignment to another team was just a temporary stop gap. So, would u have rather they continued funding a half-baked game? How about this, do you have ANY idea how much money it has cost CDV to keep the project going? And do you expect them - amidst losses - to keep throwing money in a well? Not ever publisher is Microsoft (who kept throwing money in the Freelancer well and after 5+ years of development, hasn't even sold 70K units - a tremendous loss by all accounts) you know. And being the space sim genre doesn't help either. It is a niche dead genre and no publisher wants to invest in it - unless they can get it for cheap or as a pick-up (95%+ completed) deal. Homeworld2 has a lot going for it and I'm quite sure that its inevitable release helped CDV make this decision to cancel IG3.

SPiny, instead of creating a new thread with an update, why don't you either update the original post with the revision or post a text file on a website somewhere and just post the link?

Blaster, your saves game helped located a very serious bug which seems to have been in there since BCM. People in the past reported being unable to load some saved games etc but of course, nobody ever produced a saved game which manifested the problem accurately. Because of how memory is being accessed, some people will experience this problem in some cases and others won't. In fact, some people had really crazy theories (which I ignored of course because its rubbish) like ....oh, I never save in slot 0 because that doesn't work or (and this is my favorite) ....reduce the acceleration on your sound card Anyway, it is fixed now (you should be able to now load that saved game) and I am going to be releasing a patch later this weekend for both BCM and BCM Gold (Beta).

quote: Originally posted by Dambreville: The actual technology and graphical development properties of pixel shader and vertex shaders are pretty cool though... definetly next generation stuff here. heh, you have NO idea. Just wait until the demo comes out. Buying a card depends on what you can afford. If you are looking for ps/vs 2.0 support, get the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro. It comes with 128MB of memory and is wicked fast. The 9800 Pro which comes with 256MB of memory is only about 10% faster in some cases - and costs a lot more. The game - especially on the new PTE-III terrain engine - makes heavy use of vertex shaders; and the higher the version your card supports, the higher the visual quality. e.g. if your card only supports ps/vs 1.1, it will look OK and you will see a noticeable difference on a card running a higher version. Anyway, I had posted a chart before with pixel/shader versions, here it is again. Remember, the game requires a MINIMUM of ps 1.1 and vs 1.1 - which means all MX cards are out (as in, the game will quit once it doesn't find both of these supported on the card). quote: [DIRECTX SHADER VERSIONS] vertex shader 1.1 + pixel shader 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 (DX8.1 card) vertex shader 2.0 + pixel shader 2.0 (DX9 card) [CARD SHADER VERSIONS] nVidia GF3 class cards support vs 1.1 and ps 1.1 nVidia GF3 MX class cards support vs 1.1 and no ps support nVidia GF4 Ti cards support vs 1.1 and ps 1.3 nVidia GF4 MX class cards do NOT have a shader engine nVidia FX and higher class cards support vs 2.0 and ps 2.0 ATI Radeon 7x00 class cards do NOT have a shader engine ATI Radeon 8x00 and higher class cards support vs 1.1 and ps 1.4 ATI Radeon 9000 class cards support vs 1.1 and ps 1.4 ATI Radeon 9700 class cards support vs 2.0 and ps 2.0 ATI Radeon 9800 class cards support vs 2.0 and ps 2.0 Matrox Parhelia class cards support vs 2.0 and ps 2.0

Just getting an attorney to issue a cease 'n desist to an ISP, let alone a user, costs money. And then they'd just pop up elsewhere anyway (one idiot, Bill Huffman, has already proven this over the years with no less than four ISPs booting his sites). Without a court order (which means a hulluva lot more time and money), they won't stop. And the anonymity of the Net makes it all that much easier. heh, if Bill Gates, George Bush and everyone else (who DO have the resources and money to put an end to all the websites which libel/harrass them) can just ignore it, who am I to worry about it? I know who I am. My friends, family and colleagues know who I am. And thats all that matters. I don't have low self esteem where I have to worry myself about what every twat (who needs someone to bash in order to feel good about themself) online has to say about me, true, false or otherwise.
