quote: Originally posted by Soviet: Thx 2 the forum I have tried everything including the things mentioned in topics like delmrr's topic "Patching Problems". And WHY exactly did you decide to create a new topic when one - related to patching - already exists? quote: It installs fine, when I a) install for anyone who uses this computer (all users) or when I just install for me (Soviet). I will refer to these later on as (a) and (....and the problem is what? quote: When I install for others (a) the patch has the wrong path so I input a different path directing it to install into C:Program FilesExtrasGamesBattlecruiser Millennium GoldNo. The patch does NOT have the wrong path. It is looking for - and will ONLY use - the DEFAULT path used by the original game install. Quoted from Installshield docs According to Windows logo requirements, you must install your application's files to a subfolder of the Program Files folder, regardless of the language of the target system. If you use ProgramFilesFolder as the parent folder for your product's Destination Folder property, your files will be installed to the correct location. The initial value for this property is [ProgramFilesFolder][product name]. By the time the next patch is due, I will contact Installshield to see if there is a workaround for this (for those of you who insist on installing the game elsewhere other than the default). quote: It chugs along and "patches" it. Only it doesn't.It won't patch files it cannot find. And since you did not install to the default folder, nothing will happen. quote: What it does do is: edit my shortcut "join mp server" and edits out the /c (like its supposed to)Shortcuts are not propaged from the game install folder. They are desktop properties - which means they are unaffected by this. quote: it works fine only now the "killfile.exe" runs, hey thats new.It runs because it is designed to clean up files that are no longer required by the new version. quote: 4) Did it ever patch properly? Here's the killer answer. YES. But only once, I have no idea what I did differently. I think maybe the stars were in alignment and the game knew I needed to play it bad or else I was going to toss it.No, its got nothing to do with stars. Don't go pissing around with it and it will work just fine. Just like it was designed to. quote: This is waaay more then just a concern. It's a fundamental problem with the way the patch functions. I can work around it but why do i have to? And god help someone with less patience/will to play the game patched. There is NOTHING wrong with the patch. Period.

I'd recommend Firebird Does prettymuch everything IE can do and has some nice extra features like tabbed browsing to boot. I recently gave up Netcaptor and went back to Opera, now that the latest v7.11 has everything I need and more - including tabbed browsing (the whole reason I was using Netcaptor to begin with).

That particular first patch uses the same Installshield installer as the game installer on the CD. The reason for this is that I needed to change the shortcuts which rtPatch, used for BCM patches, does not have a way of doing that. All the patch does is replace/add files, update shortcuts, update registry (path/version info) and nothing else. If you don't have the correct rights to the machine, there may be problems. If the game is not installed properly - and to the default folder - you may have problems etc etc. And Installshield is just an installer. It is the OS via Windows Installer that does the work. In fact, Windows Installer may be borked on that machine and is probably flagging some files are shared etc etc. Here is how to find out. Uninstall the game as per the FAQ Go to the registry and look at the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionSharedDLLs tree for any entries pointing to the now uninstalled game. If you find any, remove them. Reinstall the game using the defaults Download and install the patch Prior to installing the patch, you can download and run a file watcher and install it first. Then after applying the patch, you can see which files on your system were affected. WARNING: Go pissing around in your registry without backing it up and not knowing what you're doing, is your responsibility. If you don't know what you're doing, don't do it. The patch has created a folder C:Program FilesDreamCatcher3000ADBattlecruiser Millennium Gold and has put all of its files in there! Which is exactly why you shouldn't have done this to begin with. The patch expects the install path to be in the default install folder.

Moderators CAN and ARE allowed to delete topics and posts as they see fit. Questioning it without good reason is just asking for trouble. If you had a thread or post deleted or a thread locked, there IS a reason for that. You don't have to like it, but thats the way it is. If you don't like it, well then, LEAVE. And no, I'm not going to translate it either. Ask Epsilon5.

If this is the same game profile you just sent me, then it could be related. Will know once I've checked out the saved game.

Got the file and I will look into it tomorrow. In the meantime, use another profile.

quote: Originally posted by Blaster: BCMG I have the same saved game problem (Freezing when the bridge view comes up, music playing). I have gone through the tips, no fix. If I save my game then shutdown the computer, when I restart the computer and restore the last saved game it freezes. Pack up the saved game files and send to [email protected]. Be sure to read the forum archives to see how to find and pack up the problem saved games.

Night at the movies - Tomb Raider : The Cradle Of Life

quote: Originally posted by Race Bannon IV: Ditto SC I agree totally. See what having a good action director like Jan De Bont can do for a film? Imagine how much ass it would have sucked if McG directed it? Too bad it didn't help it at the box office. According to something I read on MSN, the movie opened at $21m which is not even half of what the original opened at. And there is speculation that the late release of the latest game and the buggy nature (hence lower sales), helped tank the movie. -

Akella? Dreamcatcher must be using them for the Russian distribution. Gotta go check this out. And you, just like them, are spelling Millennium with one n. -
OK, I'm a BIG Angelina Jolie fan. I mean BEEG fan. Nevertheless, given the first film (which, to me, was so-so), I went to see this one without ANY expectations. Boy was I surprised!!! It was well done, very well acted and NOTHING done over-the-top (except for the shark part - but, since its Lara, we gotta have sharks ). I was totally surprised by this movie. Highly entertaining and not a SINGLE dull moment in the 2hr showing. 9/10 (It loses a point because I don't like the final part of the ending. You'll know when you see it)

I bought it today and will be running around with tomorrow with the l'il one (if she actually lets me play that is).

heh, I saw that last night. And yes, him replying to that guy who was trolling/harrassing him by saying First of all my editors don't want their columnists to get into Derek Smart-style pissing matches with irate readers is spot on. Because thats exactly what happens. No matter HOW you respond to some people, they never get it, nor do they ever stop. You have to literally sink to their level in order to get anywhere. At which point, you become the bad guy and they the victim. That idiot Duane (to whome Trotter was responding) is going to have a cow when he sees what Trotter wrote at the end. Serves him right too. I'd have done the same thing were I in Trotter's shoes.

And personally, I believe that having the information at hand the way Kasey discribes, will make you react to the targets vector more than you should. Too much info is more dangerous than too little. If you don't know what this means, I would love to do some dogfighting with you. And this reminds me something I read in that thread about model scaling. Kasey, other games don't blow up the model sizes just to make them easier to see/shoot. The issue is that they are moving often so slowly that they are on screen long enough to get larger. Also because they are rarely to scale. Because BC models are accurately scaled and are primarily fast movers, you're never gonna get close enough to see them large enough to see the pilot's eyeballs unless you're committed to a collision or they're just parked there. Even in flight sims, most combat takes place BVR which is why guns are rarely effective and only during a head on or separation pass. Only simmers would have a clue what I'm talking about I think. Anyway, it was because of this that I implemented the TLL, TLD and match target features.
