1. Must've been a bad upload. Try them now. The game is coming along fine. Still in Alpha but is quite polished already. Since its our first dedicated fps/tps game, we're not taking any chances There are tons of movies, but nothing that I want to show to the public. Only the guys in our Beta program have access to them.
2. Ask all your questions here, post your thoughts etc.
3. More info at http://www.allaspectwarfare.com
4. Works just fine. Its not supposed to "mean" anything nor compete with full fledged ground ops games. It is what it is and thats the way it is.
5. ..where exactly in the manual does it say you could do that? You clearly missed the boat on that one. Either that or you missed the memo going back to the orginal UC in which it was made painfully clear that the game is not about ground ops and its just another feature that is there in order provide another aspect of immersion. See planet. Enter planet. Explore, mine, do combat on planet. Leave planet. You like it, use it. You don't like it, don't use it. Simple really - especially when you consider that no other space game in existence even comes close to doing anything like this and to this extent. In fact, scratch that - there is no game that does it, period.
6. See this thread for a Beta version that enables the supply station command. Let me know how it goes.
7. NPC units can get stuck in the world and its unavoidable. As to the supply station, you have to tell them to use via the TOM menu. They used to do it on their own but it looks like I disabled it and made it so that you had to tell them to since they would usually just piss off and do it - usually right in the middle of a battle. Looking at the code, it seems as if a few versions back when I did this, I accidentally disabled the entire entry from the TOM menu which means that the Proceed to Supply Station order is no longer enabled. heh, nobody noticed. Anyway I'll see about putting it back in the next patch. Until then, if you are playing as a Cmdr, when you bring them back to the CC, they will automatically re-arm. Personnel have the ability to locate and use a supply station. The supply station must must exist in the current 3D world to be usable. A supply station is not usable if more than 6 units are already using or intend to use the station. A supply station is not usable if a hostile unit is using or intends to use the station. A supply station is not usable if more than 5km from the position of the person. Personnel currently do not go to a supply station of their own accord. They must be given an order to do so via the Tactical Orders Menu (TOM). The order is ignored if there is no suitable supply station. The person will then proceed to the supply station, stand at a vacant position, and orient towards it. The supply operation takes 10 seconds to complete. On completion the person is rearmed, healed, resupplied and the armour is restored. The person then resumes previous orders. Supply station use is implemented as a gesture. This means that you need to send the person the Escort Me or Defend Me order after using the supply station order. The supply station use is cancelled if an order is issued that sets the objective of the person.
8. Gestures are self-explanatory which is why they are not in the manual. SALUTE (;): Because NPC escorts mimic the player, if player salutes, then all the escorts will also salute (after holstering their weapon), wait a few seconds after the anim is finished, then re-arm their weapon (if it was armed prior). If a specific NPC escort is the current target, then only that NPC will salute back. WAVE ('): If the player has an escort unit targeted and uses this gesture, the unit will do the same (after first holstering the weapon). If no escort is targeted, then all current escorts will wave back (as above). HOLD POSITION (SHIFT+'): If the player uses this with an escort targeted, that escort would act as if it was given the "halt" order. And will not resume until the player uses either a "follow me" gesture or issues another command (via the orders menu) to the unit. FOLLOW ME (SHIFT+;): If the player uses this with an escort targeted, that escort would act as if it was given the "escort" order.
9. Have you tried using the gestures system or PLV+TOM to give them the HOLD order? Doing so causes them to holster their weapon and remain at their current position. I'd have to check to see if they actually change their pose (e.g. to prone) or not since it won't do any good to have them standing there - no weapon in hand - and getting shot at. You should just stick them all in the priority list (if not there already), then use the PLV+TOM to cycle through them and give orders (e.g. HOLD) quicker that way. You can also use the gestures (e.g. SHIFT+') to give them orders. This game is all about planning. But in a pinch, do what I would do. Give one of them a primed APM and tell him to hold it until you get back. Take off. Don't go back.
10. If the games were created from a prior version than .10, they are not backward compatible because the new APM information needs to be saved so that it can be restored. Anyway, I just tried it with a new .10 game and it worked fine for me.
11. I can assure you that things will pick up here rather quickly and suddenly sometime this month. Stay tuned.
12. This patch has been refreshed in order to address an issue related to the game crashing when you quit an mp server. You can just download the patch and apply it on top of itself. If you previously used the patch updater when the original patch was first released on 10-28-08, it won't work without your first editing the SETTINGS.INI file and changing the version number to 2.11.02 and running the patch updater again. The procedure for doing this rollback is documented over here. NOTE: Thus far, only the patch version on our servers have been updated.

14. Weird. OK, download it from the web folder.
15. Denny's right. In IA scenarios, they don't have enough time to learn anything. But yah, most of them start out dumb as a sack of rocks. btw, it is the HAV, not the APC, that unloads the troops. It does it three times. Your best bet is to watch for them from Tacops. Another thing is that if you go prone and move forward a few seconds, all your guys - except the AFM - will go prone. For the AFM, you need to holster your weapon before you go prone. He should do the same and then be able to go prone as well. While prone, unless the enemy can see you or are literally on top of you, you can stay hidden for a bit. I am attaching a revised FPGEAR.INI file which gives the MIM a set of four APMs in all profiles. You can use these to take out the vehicles and personnel as you make your way out of the base. Be sure to read the latest patch info about the use of APMs. Your NPC marines don't know how to use them, so don't expect them to. Make a backup of your pre-existing DATA\FPGEAR.INI file before extracting this, so you can revert if you need to.
16. This patch requires the August 2008 (or later) DirectX runtime Use the game Updater to download and apply the patch. The online VCF has also been updated.
17. This patch requires the August 2008 (or later) DirectX runtime Use the game Updater to download and apply the patch. The online VCF has also been updated. NOTES: The patches use a different installer. So be sure to confirm the location of your install in the dialog which appears!! If you use the game's Updater, it will download the patch and apply it. If you don't want to use the Updater, then you have to check one of the public mirrors for a link to the full patch. NOTE Games supported: UCCE v1.00.03 (or higher) Full (Take2 DVD-ROM retail version) UCCE v1.00.03.01 (or higher) Full (Direct2Drive or Gamers Gate version) * UCCE v1.00.03.01 (or higher) Full (Digital River version) * UCCE v1.00.03.01 (or higher) Full (BMT Micro UCSE to UCCE upgrade version) * * IF YOU BOUGHT THESE VERSIONS BEFORE 11-01-07 - OR YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY DONE THIS FOR A PRIOR PATCH - YOU HAVE TO EDIT YOUR SETTINGS.INI FILE BEFORE USING THE GAME UDPATER. THIS IS BECAUSE IT NOW SUPPORTS ALL THE VARIOUS DRM VERSIONS. FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL RESULT IN YOUR DRM SIGNATURE BEING INVALIDATED (DUE TO AN INCORRECT PATCH BEING DOWNLOADED AND APPLIED). Go to your game install folder and make a backup of the SETTINGS.INI file. Then load the SETTINGS.INI file in Notepad. Go to the UPDATEINFO section and make the following changes depending on which version you have. If you have the current version, no changes are required. When done, save the file, exit Notepad and run the Updater. If you run the game and you are prompted for license info, then you messed something up. In which case you will have to rollback to the previous patch and do it over.
18. Nope. Broken again. Anyway, the issue is in the FSAA and the GUI display. If you have FSAA enabled, you won't see any text in the Frontend GUI displays (e.g. config, start new game etc). The only way around this is to open up the UCCONFIG.INI file in Notepad, look for the FullScreenAA=2x line and change it to FullScreenAA=DISABLED and save the file. Hopefully they will fix it in later drivers. After changing the above, you can use the nVidia control panel to set the FSAA without using the game's settings.
19. The board, for some reason, has come under spam attack in the past weeks. So I have now disabled new registrations indefinitely.
20. This is so funny, I just had to share it. This is a result of crazy scientists with excess grant money.
21. They seem to have fixed this issue in the 180.42 BETA drivers released yesterday.
22. I think this thread serves the same purpose. Its not even a bug. As I said, that data is never saved. And I don't see how it would be a surprise. How many people use a shuttle to deploy their AE, for whatever reason? You can use the transporter and not have that problem. No clue how it was handled in UC but the engine kernel is two generations different from UCCE. However, my guess is that its probably in there as well. The issue is not specifically about saving because I can tell you right now that the information has never - ever - been saved. Not even in BCM (where gears were first introduced). It has to do with asset management. When you deploy from an asset, completely different set of rules are used to 'create' your character. When your character is created, the gear profile is always the default. Thats why this problem is not in NPC vehicles since they are not 'your' assets. So for them, this is handled differently as well. The way assets and characters are handled have changed over the years and across products, so this is just a side effect of that and something that wasn't obvious before.
23. There are far too many workarounds for this minor issue to even warrant any such thing.
