Its not 400 sq. km so you can go roving around in it. On foot. Read my dev blogs over on the game's website. http://www.allaspectwarfare.com The world was made this big so that fighters/gunships - given the speeds - don't run out of airspace. And plus we're simulating a small area of a planet where they crash landed - not a boxed-in level. Unless you are in the air, you have no business wandering outside the confines of the bases because apart from scenery, there's nothing out there that is remotely interesting other than the terrain itself. I never consider "playtime" in my games because it is irrelevant to me and to the scope of my games. You get what you put in. And placing artificial limits on a game's time - or even quantifying it - is pointless because then you have that whole stupid argument about a long or short game. Games are what they are. Long on short, it is how they were developed. This game is not an MMO so the longevity issue is irrelevant. Thats why we have multiplayer. Between the instant action and campaign scenarios as well as multiplayer (which we wrote from *scratch* for this game), it won't be any shorter than any similar multiplayer game. And if you're concerned about repetition - in games - you might want to find a new hobby. The game looks tons better in real-time than in shots and movies.

Get the 9800GT because then you'll have PhysX and CUDA support for games that will support it since all GF8 and above cards do.
-
There was already a free DLC released and is available on the downloads page. If you are waiting for Episode 2 - which just adds new fighters and a new scenario, you have quite a wait as we're all currently working on AAW and won't be touching anything else until it is released in the April/May time frame.

You can find the gory details over here

Absolutely no plans for any modding whatsoever. That time is better spent supporting the game.

Use this guide to view/compare your graphics card. nVidia are the worst offenders when it comes to rubbish SKUs. That started back in the days of the gimped GeForce MX cards. Today, e.g. a geForce 8500GT card is really no better than a GF6 class card and is probably the worst card in the GeForce8 class. So just because your card has a nice high number, doesn't mean squat.

Saved games have no business being there. They are in a single location as you pointed out. He says he has UCCE, so they would be in C:\Program Files\3000AD\Universal Combat Collectors Edition\save assuming he didn't change the game's default install location. Anyway, I have no idea why you're wasting time on this. First of all, he needs to take a look at your sig and modify his to match yours, so we can see his sys specs. -
We are upgrading the web server and our other servers (auth, multiplayer etc) this weekend and during the week. We expect everything to be sorted out by next Monday. So if you see anything wonky, thats why. James has also completely redesigned the main 3000ad.com site (like the recent dereksmart.org, allaspectwarfare.com ones) and should be online around the middle of March and on the new servers.

Shuttles collecting pods has NOTHING to do with the Z axis. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Either it can't locate the pod, the pod is empty, the shuttle cargo bay is full or there is a certifiable jackass in the shuttle.

False. The only missiles which need to maintain a lock are those with CTL guidance logic. Check the appendix. False. Launching a missile every five seconds is just wasting missiles because each missile will maintain a separate track on the target. The only reason to launch several missiles against a target, is if they are CTL with a quick lock or if they are ATL or ATL/V and you wan to dispatch the target quickly. Launching several CTL missiles at a distant target (e.g. beyond 100km) is a waste of missiles because unless each one has a lock, they will all fly in dumb fire mode. If you are in close engagement with a large or stationary target, the tracking logic makes no difference, since the missile will fly straight ahead and hit the target anyway. Not entirely true. Depending on how close you are, the gun's laser setting and firing speed, nose mounted guns are far more effective. e.g. a one shot which can do 500 damage, is far less effective than firing a stream of shots, each with 50 damage. This is only true if the attacker is a fighter. Cap ships rarely use their nose mounted guns because their turrets (more powerful than guns) will engage targets long before they are able to line up a shot with their FMGs (Foward Mounted Gun). You only need to watch for where their turrets are mounted and avoid them. So really, if an FMG is pointing straight at you, there is no chance of a turret ever hitting you if you maintain that angle. This is because most ships don't have turrets mounted in areas that allow them to fire ahead or behind. And all turrets have a 45-60 degree firing arc. Only the TO will ever say this. And she has to be on station. No such link exists. Either correct it or remove it.

This patch requires the November 2008 (or later) DirectX runtime Use the game Updater to download and apply the patch. The online VCF has also been updated. NOTES: The patches use a different installer. So be sure to confirm the location of your install in the dialog which appears!! If you use the game's Updater, it will download the patch and apply it. If you don't want to use the Updater, then you have to check one of the public mirrors for a link to the full patch. NOTE Games supported: UCCE v1.00.03 (or higher) Full (Take2 DVD-ROM retail version) UCCE v1.00.03.01 (or higher) Full (Direct2Drive or Gamers Gate version) * UCCE v1.00.03.01 (or higher) Full (Digital River version) * UCCE v1.00.03.01 (or higher) Full (BMT Micro UCSE to UCCE upgrade version) * * IF YOU BOUGHT THESE VERSIONS BEFORE 11-01-07 - OR YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY DONE THIS FOR A PRIOR PATCH - YOU HAVE TO EDIT YOUR SETTINGS.INI FILE BEFORE USING THE GAME UDPATER. THIS IS BECAUSE IT NOW SUPPORTS ALL THE VARIOUS DRM VERSIONS. FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL RESULT IN YOUR DRM SIGNATURE BEING INVALIDATED (DUE TO AN INCORRECT PATCH BEING DOWNLOADED AND APPLIED). Go to your game install folder and make a backup of the SETTINGS.INI file. Then load the SETTINGS.INI file in Notepad. Go to the UPDATEINFO section and make the following changes depending on which version you have. If you have the current version, no changes are required. When done, save the file, exit Notepad and run the Updater. If you run the game and you are prompted for license info, then you messed something up. In which case you will have to rollback to the previous patch and do it over.

X Axis Inverted After Update (ucce)
Supreme Cmdr replied to Riddari's topic in Battlecruiser / Universal Combat (Legacy)
Works fine here. I plug in my Saitek AV8R-01 stick, start a game, launch. I push my stick L/R, the craft rolls L/R. I twist the stick, the craft yaws L/R. I push the stick F/B, the craft pitches U/D You might want to go into control panel and check your stick settings. Also make sure you're running the latest DirectX. -
I have been meaning to check this out, even though its not my type of game. Always glad to see new and otherwise innovative stuff coming out of indies.

Universal Combat Special Edition V1.00.05
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Patch News
This maintenance release is not for the D2D version - and there is nothing important in it that your version needs. You can't use the data file maintainance patch either since the Direct2Drive version of this game uses a different DRM (TryMedia) encryption which is no longer used/supported. -
Roady1, did you read this KB article? If you did, then you would know why you don't have a key. We check the support dB as they come in and I only just saw your request in the queue and responded to it.
