You know, every timeI see a new thread with you in it, I just know I'm in for a laugh. Yeah, you're a funny n00b. Anyway, until you've been told to siddown more often than you've had hot dinners, you never truly make it out of n00bism. There are other requirements too, but I'll let the others fill you in.

BCM Gold @ PC Gamer (Extended Play)

Welcome and thanks for the link. The review was OK and yes, it was about the game. Here are some quick comments. quote: What the paper manual misses, though, is any kind of background info on the various races and ship types, or even a mention of the history behind the conflicts taking place in the game. Such thematic fleshing-out really would have added a lot of atmosphere to both the game and one of the driest reads I've come across in quite a while. The background story of all races etc is explained in the online appendix. There is a link to it from the program shortcuts and its right there on the main menu entitled Alien Nations quote: There is a tutorial in BCMG, but it in no way teaches a thing about actually playing the game. It seems to just let you cruise about without threat of attack. But how does one even begin to cruise about or do anything? Nary a clue is given in the tutorial. Weird. Luckily, a lot of the more menial tasks can be handled by the AI, which allows you to focus more on the mission at hand. Thats not true. The printed tutorials - a LOT of them - are located at the back of the manual. And they are all listed on p6 of the manual. And as you can see from the list, the very first one is probably the one he wants. quote: BCMG also supports the ability to hop out of your ship and fight both on the surfaces of planets and in space using your jetpack. On the downside, while such open ended-ness adds tremendously to the scope of the game, it still shows that a lack of polish went into developing the enemy AI. Opposing forces are a tad too willing to stand about and take a beating from you and your fellow troopers. The AI scales up the longer you plan. If you were met with high AI npcs during the early stages of any career, you'd be even more frustrated than having to read a 150 page manual. quote: They aren't nearly as great at military tactics as one would've hoped. No they're not. They weren't designed to be that advanced. If they were, well, it would be a whole other game. quote: Also, the armaments at your disposal look relatively blah and unoriginal.Yeah, its not primarily an fps. Its just "another aspect of the total immersion" aspect of the game. But BCG has a whopping 18 weapons this time around, compared to the 7 in BCMG. quote: In general, despite offering entire planets (complete with various military installations) to traverse, the first-person action of BCMG isn't nearly as well developed as most other current FPS titles. [/quote Yeah, at first it was just a matter of being able to exit your ship and wandering about. Now considering how much work (and money) went into the terrain engine, I added the fps combat aspect in order "see where it would go". Of course, that meant having to develop a full blown fps aspect, complete with tactical AI, weapons, navigation, path-finding etc etc.

Now break that badboy out of its box! heh, you're right. Maybe I'll crack open the box today.

A few weeks ago I caved in and got a Nikon Coolpix4300 instead of the Olympus - and with a bunch of accessories (e.g. extra CF card, case etc) I have yet to open the box.

And the planetary regions are specifically populated with areas of interest, just like it says in the manual. i.e. mzones. And those mzones have bases and cities - scenes. Nobody told you to go running out in the wild. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Thats the WHOLE point of a massive expanse. If you don't know what you talking about STFU and sit down. Posting unfounded rubbish doesn't make you look cool, it can only get you banned. And thats got nothing to do with opinions. Its about ignorance. Now, just shut up. Please. heh, this should be interesting.

Animals, birds etc are just there for populating the terrain and making it more alive. However, the aggressive animals (e.g. the bear, snake etc) will attack (just like regular NPCs) if you are too close etc and you will take injury. Yes, you can kill them since they are just regular 3D models like any other in the game.

Well, basically before jumping to the station, target the ODS and view it in the F10 camera view. Watch its rotation. Then beef up your shields and jump to it. Destroy it, then make a beeline for the station. If you survive that is.
-
OK, cool
-
Well, you can wait a week or so because its going to be released in Europe sometime next week or before the end of the month. Last I heard, it was off to manufacturing this week.
-
Derek, I bet you could do a better job with this...

Any way to start the game on "hard" setting?

quote: Originally posted by Epsilon 5: Hey, i didn't make the killboard for my faction in Planetside twice for nothing Oh yeah, thats an accurate comparison quote: And btw, I always play with the Sunflash. i can,t stand the slow hyperdrive times for the bigger ships. The Sunflash has similar HD settings as most in its class. In fact IIRC the Solnar and Starcruiser are merely 5 secs slower. So thats nothing. quote: The easyness of the game is another reasonIf the game is so easy, why don't you post a saved game for us which shows gameplay of a standard career and with your AE at the peak of his career (i.e. highest rank, no violations, high AI crew, about 80% of the medals and at least a year or so older). And no cheating because I can detect a Playmod signature in a saved game. But I'm sure you already knoew this. Just because you can play for a few mins and not get killed, bears no relevance to the game being easy. Surviving a career (the WHOLE premise of the game) is where the skill is. Even then, if the game was so easy, then why are playing with a ship that is literally the top of its class? huh? quote: why I want the GBS, so I can give me a challenge. i want to try fighting 20 various ships using my sunflash Well you have a long wait. And even when I do release it, you won't be able to use it probably, for what you're thinking. quote: Originally posted by Wolferz: Have you tried he bunny scenario? Read the flight dynamics section of the manual because I have no idea what you're talking about.

uhm, it won't move unless the ship has an order before you turn the AP on.

Any way to start the game on "hard" setting?
Supreme Cmdr replied to Epsilon 5's topic in Battlecruiser Series
quote: Originally posted by Epsilon 5: my point exactly, I want the enemy to be harder more often. There's nothing challenging to me in the game, except for the stations that kill you before anyone can blink an eye (unless you,re cloaked, then you can get in position and kill it just like you want) So, stop playing then. Whats so hard about that? -
A bunch of new shots are over at HomelanFed
