This is the newbie forum and you might want to read the description of the forum.

I don't necessarily think thats a bad thing; though I wish they'd paid more attention to the home front. But thats just me. And I hate politics. With a passion. quote: Originally posted by Grayfox: no, we'd rather pump billions of dollars into other countries instead of looking after ourselves first... makes me wonder... ....meanwhile, back at the ranch, they're still frigging arguing over health care reform for retirees. Go figure.
  3. quote: Originally posted by Grayfox: quote:Adapted from Marvel Comics' "The Incredible Hulk," the movie took a more dark and dramatic approach than other recent comic-book flicks. Reviews were mixed. my a$$ it took a dull and boring approach. kinda like Star Wars Episode 2.... the first hour and a half sucked, but the last 45 min saved the movie. and they wonder why it did so bad??? LMAO!! Exactly!
  4. Just came across this and there is another over on C/Net. Then, for a good laugh, go here
  5. I hope this sets a precedent and other judges use this model for, oh I dunno, software piracy perhaps?
  6. Yeah, I saw that. I'm just as shocked as anyone at what he was saying - and the implications of same. I also heard that he was possibly going to run for office and Bill Clinton is said to have commented that he would make a good candidate. As for Iraq, I don't think even the US govt proper, has ANY idea wtf is going on over there. All we know is, we're losing heroes day in and day out. And its going to be worse than Mogadishu (it already is). Then there's the new sh*t storm called Liberia. The US send troops into combat over there and we've got more aggravation to deal with. Though I do think that between Liberia and Sierra Leone, without outside intervention (I'd much prefer the UN, than the US), they're not going to stop killing each other and ruining the countries.
  7. Saw it this weekend and I liked it. If go in expecting what you saw in the previous one, you'll like this one. Its a watchable and entertaining romp. 9/10
  8. Didn't I say that the Hulk won't even come close to making it as big as the other super hero properties of late? Read it here.
  9. quote: Originally posted by Gallion: How about the source code TTFN Indeed. As the rules go, ANY modifications to the game using the GBS tool MUST contain the modified source files. In this case, the OBJDEFS.SCR and/or OBJCLASS.SCR files. BUT, since GBS2 has not been released to the public, I can see why he didn't include the source files. And he shouldn't. It should only be available to testers (if they ask for it).
  10. quote: Originally posted by Tyrn: Should have left the shuttle alone as long as there were still live marines aboard, if they overcome the intruder you get your shuttle back (at least it worked that way once for me many many many moons ago). Tractoring a stolen shuttle is a good way to watch your own shuttle used as a bomb against you. Yep quote: As to the slow down. If memory serves, on a rare occasion, a ship or missile will explode outside normal game space (not sure if it was in Null space or what exactly....I don't remember). This used to crash the game but now the explosion is handled but the processing required to deal with it is huge and will bring any single processor machine to its knees until the explosion sequence is complete. I tried searching the forum and VCF files for a reference but can't find one so maybe I dreamed this was the cause but I do recall this being the reason for the slow down you're describing. This used to be the case but no longer. From what I can tell, there were just too many NPCs around and its the AI kernel that causes the slow down, not particularly the graphics. A huge battle like that - especially on a planet - is excrutiatig. And Kasey is running a Celeron 400 on WIN98. Now, thats bad. Real bad. The best remedy is to sit it out. Quitting, saving, restoring won't do any good because that state is saved. To ease the pain, you should quit, go to CONFIG and run at 640x480 with 16Bit, then resume. When the state clears, go back and reset your options.
  11. Kasey, I just wanted to add that I really like the way you describe your topic threads, pose your questions etc etc. Easy to grab and informative to read and understand. Usually some n00bs are a particularly destructive and disruptive force around here. Just thought I'd mention it

No problem, ordering prisoners is something I like not something I need. OK Anyway, in the upcoming patch, prisoners and intruders will be removed from the CC, regardless of where on the ship they are. This means that the transporter room, support crafts etc, will all be searched.
  13. quote: Originally posted by Kasey Chang: I see the supercruisers have 4 turrets while the heavy cruisers have 8 or even 10 turrets. My question then is... Thats not always the case because it is craft dependent. To see a ship's turret count/coverage, download BCStudio and extract it into your game folder. Then start it and load up the model from the MODELS folder (e.g. bcruzmk1.3D). Then turn on MODEL/TAGS/PRIMITIVES to see the turret tags which determine the turret location. The firing coverage is based on the cone from that turret and the ship will not fire if there is a chance of hitting itself. quote: Do they have the same tracking logic? (i.e. directed by the TacO?)Yes. And they are not directed by TacO (whatever that is). They are automatically controlled by the ship's tactical (threat assessment and coverage) and weapon (acquisition, lock, fire control) and power (allocation, laser intensity, firing rate) systems. quote: By the way, are there existing abbreviations for carrier, super carrier, heavy cruiser, and super cruiser? No quote: Or can we use the common "naval" designation like CV, SCV, CA, and SCA?No. Thats not part of the Battlecruiser mythos
  14. quote: Originally posted by Grayfox: LMAO i can see it now... the SAS light is going off like a xmas tree and resnig is saying "no sir! the ship is not being boarded by intruders! we have killed all the infidels!" LMAO!! Yep
  15. Stations don't resuppply themselves. They are supplied by traders and military transports which dock there. If none dock, then the station will degrade over time. This is what sieging a station entails. If you cause a station to launch all its assets and you prevent military transports from docking, it won't get any new supplies. HOWEVER, any station asset that makes it back to the station (limps back, towed by a shuttle etc), is repaired, rearmed and ready for action.
  16. Been a bit of a delay in the next update due to some mp issues we've been trying to reproduce and fix. Any day now. And the VCF has been updated. Some cool stuff coming! Sorry for the delay. Its for the best.

  18. FYI, Justin has still not finished the new fleet DB (he's AWOL with school again), so I've reassigned it to someone else capable. Problem is, he has to start from scratch. Should be done soon. And this new version will have the ability for the mp server to post stats (kills, EPs etc) about clients, directly into the DB in real-time.

Blasted Galcommies intercepted my relief and now I gotta wait for him to find an alternate means of transportation. I'd love to be out there helping with the testing, but I'm pretty busy out here helping with the rif-raf and pest control. Rattler came out here to chew bubble gum and kick some IWacki tail! Guess what! Someone stole all the Bubble gum! This only leaves one thing to do then. Hop to it Insurgents!! Rattler......Out! whoa!!! Look what that hellaciously big cat dragged in!! Hiya old friend. Hope all is well!!

  21. quote: Originally posted by Tyrn: What's my point? I'd like to see a limited amount of prisoner ordering. I know that's borderline whish list, so I'll quietly walk away now and pretend that I wasn't even here. There are a bunch of other exploits that you may not be aware of. Hence the reason that I completedly disabled the ordering of prisoners, rather than troll through the code and doing special case (as in what you suggested) conditions and end up breaking something - especially since prisoners are not worth the risk of compromising that particular piece of code. So no, I'm not going to allow any manual ordering of prisoners. If I do, it will probably in BCG when I've had time to assess the situation further. For one thing, I'd still need special case conditions because e.g. unless there are prisoner models (which there aren't), I have to prevent the transporting of prisoners off-ship. Crap like that is dangerously counter-productive.
  22. quote: Originally posted by Kasey Chang: Found it... Tactical / Loadout / TP / Crew, then pick prisoners from the pop-down menu, and if you click the left/right arrows it'll let you pick their location. They were at SHUTTLE 1, so I picked DETENTION HOLD, and sure enough, PERSCAN shows them moving from shuttle bay to detention hold. ack! I need to probably plug that I think. You shouldn't be able to send prisoners to any location other than detention hold. What I'll do is plug that hole, then allow the stations to search support crafts for prisoners when you dock.

  24. quote: Originally posted by Kalshion: OSD's don't even fire on you.. I've gone up close and personal to them and they never fire on me =) You should know by now that - unlike silly humans - NPC entities don't fire blindly without a lock solution. You should learn that.
