The game simply doesn't start. After the logo video, the window just closes. No message, no black screen, not even a flicker. That, in itself, signals a patch install, a bad patch or missing files. And as is noted in the FAQ (and here on the forum), if you add /w1 to the shortcut (for troubleshooting only), when the game exits, it will popup an error window which you can't see in fullscreen. Also /d2 will probably created a set of .log files (if I enabled logging in the patch) which can also provide a clue. quote: The problem, I believe, is not with the installation of the patches, but with something that they change within the game.Rubbish. If that was the case, then nobody would be able to run the patch - and BCMG single player(which uses the same 1.08x kernel) won't work either.

  3. Sorry, but I don't believe it. Period. If the patch is IN the folder where the BCM.EXE file resides, its the FIRST file that it will list as being ready to patch.

  5. Oh man, there is always one more story. Some people have way too much time on their hands.
  6. Fragging before playing BCM - or any game - is pure bollocks. All that does is provide faster disk access due to less fragmented disk blocks. The only reason why the patch won't find the bcm.exe is if the patch was NOT executed from the folder where that file resides. Thats the FIRST place it looks and it will NOT look ANYWHERE else unless it does NOT find it there. Hence the reason to apply the patch FROM the install folder.
  7. hehe, welcome guys. Seriously, BC stopped being about one man's dream many years ago. It has become a collective effort and with everyone, from gamers and beta testers to the media, pitching in every now and then. Its not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but hey, thats what progress is about. For BCG we're make several strides in a lot of directions and which - I personally believe - will seriously startle even the most loyal vets, once they get their hands on it. From the new high end assets, vehicular dynamics (with new control schemes), down to the fluid motion capture character animation, new PTE spec III terrain engine, new graphics engine etc etc, its the last of its kind and its going to go out with a band. ......unless of course we sell so many units that we have no choice but to do another (or perhaps an add-on pack).
  8. quote: Originally posted by Raider/Pirate VLAD: anywhoo the problem is my game makes TGA files for the screen shots and I do not know of a program that views TGA's if any of you know one PLEASE PLEASE Tell me i have a ton of cool shots i want to send to a friend who I also hooked. VIVA LA CRUISER! I hope you're kidding. Anyway, every single graphics program in existence, has the ability to read TGA files. You can go to any number of download sites, e.g. www.download.com, www.pcmag.com, www.tucows.com and search for graphics. If you're going to send your friend shots, you should convert those TGA shots to JPEG first.
  9. You only need a SINGLE patch. And if you go experimenting, contrary to the CLEARLY WRITTEN instructions in the FAQ, you only have yourself to blame for the outcome. Now, go read the FAQ and follow the instructions for uninstalling the game and starting from scratch with a patch. And I've had reports of BCM Gold owners applying the BCM patch. I can't imagine WHY they'd do that, when in fact both products have their own patch pages.
  10. quote: Originally posted by Overmind: I assume BC(M/MG/G) was made in C/C++, what compilier did you use, Borland? and where can I get it, at the moment I only have Microsoft Visual C++ and I would prefer something a little more used in the real world. Only seen one engine so far built on Visual C++ and that is the BZ2 engine (dark reign2, st armada/2 few others). I am going to try to start making a full game, but visual C++ is not really supported by a few people as I have noticed... I would also like to know the modules you have used to help make it if any, and where they are accessable, the programs that I have found out some companies use are no longer really findable, specifically Borland, I have heard of a site of an open-source version of it that I would like to get ahold of, just anything that is well used. I have no idea what your source of that information is, but its false. The majority of the games use either GNU, Visual C/C++ or Metrowerks compilers (especially console games use this one). I use a combination of Visual C/C++ 6.x, Assembly (some legacy code I can't be bothered to piss around with) and my own language. Back in the DOS legacy version of BC (BC3K, BC3K v2.0x), I first used Borland Turbo C/C++ and then switched (after playing around with Zortech C++ first) to Watcom C/C++ w/ Rational's DOS 4GW extender when the program could no longer fit within 16Bit addressing.
  11. heh, I wish 'em luck. They're gonna need it.

They were probably already prepped. And if not, they will before actually carrying out the order. Marines never go anywhere or do anything without going through this step.
  14. That Green dot is the target at that exact moment in time. Its the optimal firing solution.

So should I just give up on this one and start a new game altogeather? Don't worry, I'll just deleted it upon receipt. I have now added the warning to that thread. Thanks for pointing it out. quote: So should I just give up on this one and start a new game altogeather? That depends. What exactly is the problem? And is it still happening? Can you reproduce it? etc etc? I mean, we're not soothsayers you know.
  16. quote: Originally posted by Freyar: oooohhh x.x I got in trouble already! egh... I'll still try my best in keeping the threads where they belong. Nice to see everyone. uhm no, you're in trouble. I usually move these welcome messages out of the general discussion forum because they don't belong there. Its not something you, a n00b, would know. Here is your get out of the airlock free card. Guard it well.
  17. oops, wrong link. Fixed The POE link is one I had cut and was pasting to check it out.

  23. quote: Originally posted by Eclipse: Quite a nice piece of work there Sc. It might be my end but I can't tell if these units are hover or tracked with alot of armor covering the treads. They are hovered. I had Wille design them that way so that I didn't have to waste time animating visible tracks. And speaking of weapons, on a whim, I took a shot of the 18 (12 new in BCG) weapons of mass destruction in the game. wmd1 wmd2 wmd3
  24. quote: Originally posted by Remo Williams: Those look really tuff SC. Would a marine with a rocket launcher be able to put a dent in one; or should you head for the nearest DJP on sight? It depends. The armor rating on the Wildcat is 1500 and on the Mayhem its 1000. The KLMP rocket launcher (which carries 4 rockets in 4 independent tubes) fires the APR_GPR rockets (General Purpose Rocket) which have a damage rating of 100 units each. Since you can have a max of 8 rounds, that means you'd need 8 of these rockets to have a direct hit. Then probably a few grenades and whatnot. The LR12 on the other hand (which carries 1 rocket per tube) fires the APR_LR12 rocket which have a damage rating of 150 units each. Do the math. Of course, the gits sitting in the tank aren't going to be waiting for you to hammer them. Not only do those twin main guns have a range of 25K meters, each shell is an armor piercing T5 rating (damage rating = 250). So, each time it fires, its going to dish out a max damage of 500 units. Then there's the top mounted turret gun which has a rating of T2 (damage rating = 35). The two tanks have a pretty low firing rate though (1500ms in the Wildcat and 1000ms in the Mayhem); so, you'd still have time to crawl off the top of that building you're perched on.

I'll probably rent it - and if its not as LOL funny as you proclaim, you're in deep trouble pal.
