You can't help but LOL when this guy shows up on CNN denying any and everything you can possibly imagine - even when there is a ample evidence to the contrary. heh, check this out

Yeah, I'm looking forward to Eve too, though the reports from the testers are best described as being bi-polar. EnB was a disaster from the word go, so no surprise there - but I hope EVE pulls it off.

If you have read the updated FAQ, then you have probably seen the restrictions on the multi play game as it differs from the single play game (see question #8). If you wish to discuss these issues, be my guest and do it here. I wanted to mention that even though tractoring is disabled, I am going to enable it with some restictions in order to prevent cheating that is also rampant in the single play game. e.g. the ability to tow an unwilling NPC object in the single play game could also be exploited to do the same to someone in the multi play game. The towing restrictions I have in mind are the following You cannot tow NPC objects You cannot tow another player's support assets (e.g. fighters) You cannot tow another player if he is in fp mode. And instead of killing him (as it does in single play), it just won't lock. You cannot tow another player unless he is in his asset (command craft/fighter/vehicle) and has manually activated the emit sos code using the remapped CTRL+T command. If this code is on, you can tow this player from place to place but he can also disable it at any time using the same key (it is a toggle), thereby breaking the tractor lock. Naturally, doing it from 25K feet in a vehicle and you're as good as dead. You cannot tow vehicles from one planet to another. Then again, you can't do it in the single play game either. And I may also implement the ability for DJPs to span other planets (instead of just the current one) as well as allow vehicles (not crafts) to use them. This will enable marines to move from planet to planet depending on where the conflict is.

Strange extracting vehicles/drones

All the 1.08 patches were release candidates. This last one is the 1.08 final - meaning its the actual final patch in the 1.08 series - not - a final patch to BCM. You might want to read GNN (in addition to what Tyrn pointed out) because I made it clear there too. -
Almost there....check GNN for a news update

It only got to retail on Friday I believe. Its only Monday. So, some of the branches might take a few more days before they have it on the shelves. I also found out from DC that Best Buy passed on this SKU (probably due to their PC game cut back). But EB, GameStop and pretty much every other retail store has it.

I cut my vacation short and am back waiting for the server config to finish so that I can upload the game, configure it on each and flip the switch on the game/auth/master servers. Will keep you folks posted. In the meantime, keep staring at the server side updates in the 1.00.01 update which I will release once the servers are online. And if you haven't already, you MUST read the Multiplayer Issues section of the updated FAQ. [ 04-07-2003, 01:42 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Strange extracting vehicles/drones
Supreme Cmdr replied to Fernando Luis Garcia's topic in Universal Combat Series
I wasn't planning on getting involved until the testers confirmed it and opened a topic in Area 51, but I have to ask, why don't you just try it in a friendly area on a friendly planet? why do you have to destroy anything in order to solve the problem? If you tried to reproduce the problem on a friendly planet, you could skip most of the steps above. What happens if you just quit and resume the game? Where the options there before you quit and then no longer there when you resumed/restored? Why do you need the AE to be in the craft in order to reproduce the problem? Is his involvement connected to this issue? If not, why do you include him in the equation (it will only cause confusion)? I've got many more, but I'm sure you catch my drift. Keep it simple and it will be easier to investigate. -
Since you can't run a multiplayer game yet. Might as well discuss something else. So. Discuss, damnit!!

Please check GNN for an inportant news update.

The SafeDisc signature has not changed. So I see no reason why one should work and not the other. Replace the Def Leapard CD with the BCM one and it should work.

Final 1.08 is out. Thats probably that last patch for BCM.

whoa!! who let you near a Battlecruiser!!?! You must be the youngest cmdr on deck!

Well thats just great - thanks for reminding me Gummy Me. 40. *shudder* No plans (I never pay attention to such) but I do know that the missus definitely has something cooking - especially since we're talking off for a couple of days on Friday. Dunno where we're going yet. And she won't tell me. Ms Supreme Cmdr ain't talking either. Its a conspiracy of Insurgent proportions. And btw,

BCM Gold is shipping to retail this week and I wanted to post a quick message about tech support and other issues. BCM and BCM Gold use basically the same single player game kernel. However, that does not mean that you can run the BCMG specific scenarios in BCM and vice versa. That aspect of the game kernel, like multiplayer, is different. Attempt to do this and you will blow up your environment. When patches are released, if a fix to a shared kernel is made, then there will be patches for both BCM and BCMG. Tech support for BCM (released in 11/01) will cease only when critical issues are no longer evident. In the case of BCMG, since there are two separate kernels and executables, there will only be updates to whichever one requires it. e.g. if a patch is released for the multiplayer server or client component, then the single player executable will not be affected - thus no patch will be made available for it. Because BCM and BCMG share the same kernel, the forums are the same. So, when posting a tech support issue, be sure to indicate which product you are reporting. If not stated, BCMG is assumed. For you newbies who wish to post on this board, remember, you must (a) register your game ( register to post on the forum © add your system info your board signature if you wish to post in tech support areas. If you post in a tech support section without your SysInfo in your sig, your post may be deleted by an admin or mod. I also need to mention this again because some people simply don't get it. IF YOU REGISTER TO POST ON THE BOARD AND YOU FAIL TO INCLUDE YOUR GAME CDKEY, YOUR REGISTRATION WILL BE DECLINED. NO EXCEPTIONS Every other day, a bunch of registrations are declined for the above reason. Which means that people are simply pressing the AGREE button without reading the text! Playmod - Current Profile is Invalid on XP
Supreme Cmdr replied to xivix's topic in Battlecruiser Millennium
quote: Originally posted by xivix: Here's more info on the urgency of my situation. Half the reason I upgraded my computer was so that I could play BCM without the sluggishness. Therefore, it is VITAL that I be able to use Playmod. I have plenty of computing power, but can't run the program I need to run! Here's the specs (I didn't see where I could add them to my profile): 2.4Ghz processor, 1G mem, 128M ATI Radeon video, Windows XP. HELP! If you so much as create one more topic about this, you're getting banned from the site. Consider yourself warned. Further, the use of Playmod - a CHEAT - has NO bearing on your ability to configure and run the game properly. So, how exactly you correlate your inability to configure the game to your inability to use Playmod, is beyond me. And if Playmod reports an incorrect profile, it means just that. An incorrect profile. Which in itself is the result of using it on an incorrect or missing game profile or an incompatible game version. And I don't even think you know what Playmod does. Do you? Did you even think to create a profile first, then quit and run Playmod? Probably not. -
Seeing your units on the full planet tac-ops map

Seeing your units on the full planet tac-ops map
Supreme Cmdr replied to PegasusJF's topic in Universal Combat Series
quote: Originally posted by Richard: In my experience, you don't need to locate mining drones to extract them (assuming that is why you want to find them). As long as the shuttle is on the planet, you can successfully extract the drone - irrespective of the distance between them. Thats not entirely true. Read the VCF by searching for "shuttle" HOWEVER, someone reported that if you use the HUD menu that you can still do it. I have not yet reproduced this on my end. Once I do, I will prevent it. -

Don't use it. Go to 1280x1024 if the previous does not display properly. -
