The shots bear no relevance whatsoever to Star Trek.

The industry's worst kept secret officially revealed. http://www.crypticstudios.com/index.php?op...8&Itemid=34 Those shots look completely and utterly rubbish.

The restriction is not up to the online distributor (like Gamers Gate). Its the IP owners who place the restrictions. e.g. Gamers Gate sells our games worldwide because we don't impose any such restrictions. If we did, then Gamers Gate would only be able to sell to only the territories that we tell them to.
-
Yeah, publishers are beginning to lockdown on this. The reason has to do with how the licensing is done. e.g. if company A has the rights to the North America (incl. Canada) rights, then company B who has the rights to the game in Europe can't sell the game online. And vice versa. This is particularly troublesome in cases where a deal was done and the licensee only has online distribution rights for only their retail (i.e. boxed) territories. Digital distribution transcends borders and I'm surprised that it took them this long to crack down actually. This of course is just going to cause more piracy. However, this is the same practice behind region locking for DVD media and such. You can always use a proxy to spoof the region checking I think; though that would depend on how they actually implemented it. If they're checking the IP address, then getting a US proxy is trivial. There are many free proxies out there (e.g. Hide My IP is one of them) which can give you an IP address located anywhere in the world. Some are free and some are not.

I watched the 1080p trailer and it looks quite cool. Dunno about those cheesy organic weapons though.

They are now accepting Beta registrations for those dedicated Gunea Pigs out there. http://www.blackprophecy.com/

Trailer is up. It looks good but I'm getting that "ELoG" vibe here. Which is not a good thing.

UC:AWA Issue
Supreme Cmdr replied to BHunterSEAL's topic in Battlecruiser / Universal Combat (Legacy)
Looks like you figured it out. As with all games, no matter how great a gaming rig is, there will always be a piece of technology that will work differently. AA is disabled by default. You have the choice to either use the game's implementation or the video driver's. Obviously in your rig, the video driver is preferable. * thread subject modified * -
UC:AWA Issue
Supreme Cmdr replied to BHunterSEAL's topic in Battlecruiser / Universal Combat (Legacy)
The fact that in the entire history of UCAWA (even UC) you're the only one with this problem, means that its on your end. These forums go back to the days of BCM and no matter how far back you search, you won't find any such issue. And the assumption that what you are experiencing in UCAWA Is in UCSE and UCCE is just plain foolish. Quite clearly you have no idea what you're talking about. Not to mention the fact that their is a demo for UCSE. -
Just a quick question about ground vehicles
Supreme Cmdr replied to Kroyon's topic in Universal Combat Series
Actually the reason I never allowed it is because I wanted the player to use the shuttles since thats what they were designed for. Using the CC would have also been problematic since most of the designs of those crafts does not allow them to rest on the terrain. So any OC coming out of a bay, would drop to the ground and be badly damaged or destroyed, given their size and the height (from the ground up) of those cap ships. -
You clearly don't know anything about protecting your computer, nor what all those programs do. I'm not criticizing you, I'm point out your follies. If you didn't want to participate, you shouldn't have posted in the thread. Here is what you said: Why would ANYONE install both McAfee and NAV? Plus Avast? All those programs do pretty much the same darn thing, but they do it using different methods. Yet, with all that, you still ended up with a trojan?!?! For good measure, you might as well throw in NOD, KAV, AVG8 and ThreatFire. Its the only way to be sure.

Why is it a shame? Why can't you use the shuttle to deploy the vehicle, then you exit the CC and enter the vehicle? -
UC:AWA Issue
Supreme Cmdr replied to BHunterSEAL's topic in Battlecruiser / Universal Combat (Legacy)
Changing the resolution has no effect on the symptoms you are describing and it certainly has nothing to do with your ability to play the game. From what you describe, you have something else going on. Checking the FAQ would be a good start. Also, given that the game is three years old, you're going to have to figure out whats going on with your system and fix it. Nothing we can do about that. -

uhm, so don't use them? There's a reason why you have the option to turn them on or off. And if you have to delete the config file to play a game, that there tells you that whatever config option you were messing with, is not compatible with your system. When in doubt, don't mess with the default settings. -
Whoa!! I kinda missed this thread too. HBD old man!!

The entire season one is on DVD now.

No, Windows Defender doesn't do anything with cookies. For that you need Spybot, Threatfire, AVG8 etc - programs that lockdown your browser.
-
Same here, but I use the AVG paid version. I used to also use Threatfire but stopped using it when I discovered that enabled or not, it was preventing some of my Firefox3 plugins from installing. It took me awhile to figure it out. But once I did, rather than piss around, I just un-installed it and moved on. Thats just overkill, a waste of system resources and paranoia. Frankly, I don't even believe that you are dumb enough to be using NAV + McAfee + Avast. Did you write that with a straight face? You only need ONE of each program. If you need Trojan Hunter to remove a trojan then (1) you're patently careless/irresponsible in your web surfing, downloading etc (2) are using the wrong programs to begin with. If you are using NAV, you have NO use for Windows Defender, McAfee, Avast and Trojan Hunter. Sheesh. Does your system even run? If you're that paranoid, you should stick with Windows Firewall + NAV + Spybot Search & Destroy /w Teatimer enabled + Threatfire

uhm, not really. They are right. Most people who care about BC already have a PS2. Plus, you can pick one up for peanuts. Its also more expensive for them to keep that PS2 chip in the PS3. This is all about cost cutting and practicality. Makes sense to me. I have the original PS3, so I have full BC. But I do have a PS One and a PS2 as well.

Good news? None whatsoever. At least not for indie studios competing with the likes of the big ones. Which is why everyone is flocking to either casual or non-hardcore games. The gaming landscape has totally changed and its going to get a LOT worse before things settle down. Case in point: iD signed a publishing deal with EA (instead of Activision) for their new Rage game. 'nuff said.
