  3. quote: Originally posted by Urza: One more question: Do the BC Cmdr's forums also have that kind of security? And if not, could it be implemented? Dunno. Don't ask here because I have no control over that site. Apart from that site running as if on a GameBoy, I would suspect that they can install a similar hack over there.
  4. GBS uses my own scripting language. But for BCO and future BC titles (e.g. BCTC), I'm currently switching to Python and LUA.
  5. Yep. And when I release the GBS-II docs, I will show how to do what can be done. [ 01-29-2002, 09:07: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Enemy ships constantly and constistently decide to have fights inside the planetary sphere I take it you are not running 1.0.05 yet? You might want to run that version and if you have either of the above problems, report it in the tech support/misc issues thread.

  9. quote: Originally posted by Spider-man: If this forum is the forum for specific, reproducible bug reports (of which, few have been found) -- shouldn't there be a forum for these other problems? Nope. I have NO interest in them and/or people's configuration and/or driver woes. I've been echoing this LONG before BCM was even released, when it was released and after it was released. I'm only interested in BUGS and NOTHING ELSE. The game as configured on the supported systems, works. If you must, go over to the other BCC forum and post over there. Since I could care less what goes on over there, it won't concern me in the least. If I create such a forum, as you suggested, its just going to get abused with people people posting all manner of distracting rubbish. We've already seen, in THIS thread, the outcome of such. The result at the end of a pointless venture and wild goose chase (which happens frequently)? ....ooops, sorry. It works now. My fault. Who has time for that crap? Sorry, but thats the way it is. And I have NO problems banning EVERYONE any ANYONE who violates this directive in any shape of form. NO EXCEPTIONS. I'm not here to babysit anyone's machine, configurations or ego. However, I will discuss it with the beta testers in our private forum and see how they feel about it. Further, once I revoke someone's posting rights (it doesn't mean that they are banned, btw), I rarely EVER restore it; because I do it for a good reason. If I were to restore it, then other offenders will just think that they have carte blanche to pull the same stunt (that gets their posting rights revoked) and that they will get re-instated anyway. e.g. I took one look at Duncan Idaho's post and revoked his posting rights. I won't have even known about it had I not been sent an ICQ message about it. And xierxior's subsequent banning is just a classic example of exactly what I'm talking about. Because these two are new around here, I have now restored their posting priviledges in the hope that they now know that I do NOT kid around with my rules and regs. While Duncan was directing his post at one of the admins here, it is still directed at me, because the mods and admins are appointed for that very reason: upholding the rules and regs of the board. 10. quote: Originally posted by Epsilon 5: c37746.blktn1.nsw.optusnet.com.au He comes often on the #battlecruiser chan on galaxynet (which I took the pleasure of registering). I got tempted to ban him but the only times he spoke someone was there to have fun with him (Fendi mostly )... and I can kick him if he says something. Yeah, its him. Him and Fendi are sparing partners No, don't ban him - we'll just keep pounding him wherever he shows up.
  11. quote: Originally posted by Eclipse: Nice upgrade... now I can't hide in the shadows anymore. Yeah you can. Go into your profile and disable it.
  12. quote: Originally posted by WeeGee: EDIT: P.P.S. Oh, forgot to say that I'd be glad to forward you one of the e-mails too. Yes please
  13. quote: Originally posted by Cmdr Nova: Guess my idea from Dunno about that. This feature is part of the UBB upgrade and not a hack. There is a Who's Online hack which I decided not to use because I already knew that UBB 6.2 would have this feature built in. A LOT of registered people don't post. And thats simple because people SHOULD only post when it is necessary. In fact, I went in and purged a lot of registered users who never posted, back when you had to be registered to even view the forum. Very soon, I will lock it again and unless you are registered, you won't be able to access the board.
  14. quote: Originally posted by Masefield: BTW, should people be warned to erase their CD keys from their public profiles? I noticed them showing up in a few instances. I dunno why anyone would have their CDKEY in their profile. Its only there for registration. And each time I approve an application, I remove it. If some dumbass goes and puts it back, allowing Herbert and his friends to pilfer it (like he did Epsilon 5's), then they deserve all the aggravation they get when they can't login to an mp server.

Have a feeling you┬┤ve been waiting for this for a long time. Man, you have NO clue how annoying that bastard is. In fact, he's one dumb ass. All he had to do was go into his profile and disable his login name from showing up on the recent visitors list. Then, I would've had to look at the actual logs in order to find him. I guess, seeing his login name in full view, at the top of the site page, didn't strike him as odd. Last night, I wrote a script which parses the login log files for IP, email and alias matches. His cohort, Bill Huffman, was also here yesterday. But since he is not registered to post, he appeared as a guest, but I matched his IP address to his Usenet IP and the domain mask for his ISP. So, you have to ask yourself: WHY do they even come HERE?!? Think about that. [ 01-29-2002, 07:58: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

In fact, I'm not going to ban him. I've locked the profile so it cannot be changed. Anytime he shows up here, as long as the cookie is set, that login name will show up in the recent visitors list. 18. quote: Originally posted by Fractux: Hmm.. Sorry for the second post SC, but I am unable to edit my post. Proper pictue link [HERE] That image doesn't tell me anything. The craft could be on the other side of the planet and not INSIDE it. If you are SURE that they are inside the planet AND you are using the current version of the game, send the saved game to the proper channels. If the saved game doesn't show this, you already know what will happen to you, so I need not repeat it. Also, go ahead and edit your post and delete the second post. I have re-configured UBB to allow you to edit or delete your own posts. [ 01-28-2002, 17:19: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  19. woohoo!! I just busted Herbert (aka Shirley aka Fabio etc etc). He logged in at 16:45EST and viewed a couple of forums. His last IP address was 202.12.233.21 and his real email address is [email protected] That BASTARD!!! In fact, he re-registered to POST on the forum using Epsilon 5's BCM serial number and actually registered his username (back in Oct.) as herbert. Two guesses what his profile shows his password as? Here is his posting history Here is a screen shot of him online Anyway, I've locked the profile so he can't change it. I will ban it later tonite once you folks have had the chance to check out the above details. [ 01-28-2002, 17:14: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  20. Your posting priviledges have been revoked. If you want to know why, look at condition #2 above.
  21. quote: Originally posted by xierxior: Thats cool, but now as i look at the huge list of poeple visiteing the board you can only wonder how come no one posts Because, unlike you (and some others), people don't post for the heck of it. [ 01-28-2002, 12:52: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  22. quote: Originally posted by Elenkis: Nice Though everyone gets the option of hiding from the recent users list when they register and via their profile options - These folks will still show up in the admin logfiles, right? Yes
  23. I have upgraded the forum. As you can see, it now supports the viewing of recent visitors. The wording of that is really foolish, because that display actually shows who is currently viewing the site; and it gets updated when you refresh your browser. Guests are either folks who are not registered to post (but can view the page, since it is not closed) or registered users who have not logged in. The admin also has a logfile with information about every one who is in the recent visitors list....including the IP numbers. So, since we have Shirley aka Fabio aka Herbert aka....IP addresses (from Australia), we can tell when he's been to the site. hehe. btw, to see some cool stuff, click on a visitor from the list. Go refresh your memory because I'm not typing up all that crap again.
