I got it awhile back but have yet to play it. Will probably give it a shot this weekend.

The mp patch is WIP and has been for quite some time. There is no firm date for sending it out to the Beta testers, but when that happens, I will post about it. The focus has been to get all issues in the game resolved and bug free before adding mp to the fray. Also note that mp will have a lot of restrictions and certain sp features will either work differently or be disabled entirely (e.g. probe launches will be restricted to a certain degree). Also, once the Beta testers have given it the once over, I will release it as an RC candidate so that everyone can get their hands on it, take it apart, stress test it etc (the same thing we have been doing with some critical BCM patches). And yes, I am going to allow people to setup their own internet (and LAN) servers but the 3000AD run fleet servers will be for dev, beta testers, fleet leaders and their *invited* fleet members only. Make NO mistake about it, you will NOT be able to run an mp server on anything short of the following MINIMUM specs : [*]Pentium III 1Ghz or AMD Athlon processor [*]WIN 2K/XP (with all service packs) [*]256 MB RAM [*]16MB DirectX 8 compliant 3D graphics card [*]16Bit DirectX 8 compliant sound card CD-ROM [*]500MB uncompressed hard drive disk space [*]Microsoft compatible mouse [*]Broadband (cable or xDSL) connection required for Internet servers The server won't be doing ANY graphics processing, so a 16MB graphics card is just fine. If you decide to play (as a client) on the same server you are running, well then, you need to ensure that your server can handle the load. In fact, you can probably get away with a 256MB server also running a client. But as always, YMMV And if you have the bandwidth, you can probably run several console servers on the same box. Clients connecting to an Internet server require a 56K modem connection at the MINIMUM [ 01-10-2002: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

quote: Originally posted by cougarxg1: Now that my extended holiday vacation has ended I finally have several converted models for b5. Has the legality become to extreme to send them in? Well, I didn't hear from you, so I deleted all the ones you previously sent. I was over at the B5 Tech Manual site a few weeks ago, checking to see if it was complete - in that it had all the ship types used by the all the B5 alien races and it seems to. This time, when you send them in, please try to stick to these simple rules. Make sure that the mesh and textures for the model, are in the SAME zip file. Make sure that the ZIP (or RAR) archive file has the same name as the model you are zipping in them. One mesh and its textures per archive Unless you (or someone else) is commited to sending in ALL the B5 ships used by the characters in the series, don't bother.

Missile performance question

The cargo pod in Logistix: how do I use it?
Supreme Cmdr replied to Joel Schultz's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
quote: Originally posted by Joel Schultz: Transporting cargo to planet surface is a separate operation done from another screen and creates its own cargo pod. I don't think then that that's what the Logistix one is for. Since you only have access to cargo inventory from Logistix..... -

In order to post pure benchmarks, you need a controlled environment and configuration that is FREE of ANY and ALL driver enhancements not directly enabled by the game. I think this weekend I will create two scenarios (one space and one planet) which have elements which stress the system. I will upload those to the server and those can be used for real benchmark numbers. [ 01-10-2002: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

My email to Kevin Hey Kevin, just saw the review. First thing that jumps to mind (apart from all the pre-requisite insults on my hard work)... "For instance, by launching fighter craft you simply click on one of the fighter crafts icons and issue it orders. (Assuming you have assigned it a pilot) The fighter craft will launch and follow your indirect orders. Eventually the craft will return to the ship and then the icon will turn red. You cant launch the craft again while the icon is red. What does this mean? How do I turn it from red to green? Has it been destroyed? What happened? No clue The green icon has turned red, that ship is out of action until I decide to go online and ask someone what the hell to do to fix it." Tactical Launch Menu, manual p19 I think your problem is that you discarded the manual as inadequate (so far, you are probably the only one who thinks so)...and clearly missed something like this and others. As far as first person, fun, adventures etc, again, let me point you to a bunch of gamer stories (many of them in first person mode) as told by those actually playing the game and using their imagination as the experiences provided for them. Thats about 4 pages of stories btw oh well. Thanks for you reviewing it anyway. cheers [ 01-10-2002: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

I think we missed this one yesterday. Nobody told me about it and only just came across it as I was reading GameSpy Daily a few minutes ago. A clear case of someone NOT reading the manual quote: For instance, by launching fighter craft you simply click on one of the fighter crafts icons and issue it orders. You can grab it here Pretty good read, I thought. Though the final score is 172/200, thats about 86/100 I think. [ 01-10-2002: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Unlike EVERYONE else in the industry, I CLEARLY label and distinguish bug fixes from tweaks. Dunno how he missed that. But, oh well. I don't remember EVER making excuses for bugs in the initial release. And if you do the math, the game hit the streets on 11/20/01 and by 1/05/02, there were patches and fixes to IMMEDIATELY address issues. While other companies release patches (and tweaks) when they bloody well feel like it.
