Yeah, but doesn't the PhysX require an additional layer in the application as well? My understanding is that games have to be PhysX compatible for you to get any improvement. Physx uses the Novadex (which Aegia owns) physics sdk which is free to developers. Havoc is third-party licensed physics sdk which costs tons. -
It looks like a cartoon. From the shots, it looks like the mass market drivel. Exactly what publishers want these days.

It looks tons better than the shots.

Both the patches work just fine. Read this thread in full. Read the patch notes in the VCF.

Well, with any luck (and they'll need LOTS of it), Aegia's PhysX HW card will revolutionize hardware accelerated physics in much the same way Adlib first revolutionized HW based audio. ...at least thats the plan. But... Naturally, the likes of nVida (with their Havoc partnership) and ATI (on their own) are touting similar accelerated physics on their GPUs. Who will win? I tell you what. If nVidia and ATI perform better and/or comparable to PhysX, that board is history. The nVidia solution apparently only works with Havoc based games. Considering the cost of that engine license, it is only used by top tier publishers with multi-million dollar budget titles. We're still waiting to see if ATI's solution is general purpose and not require and additional layer, as in the case of nVidia + Havoc combo.

A new press release announcing the following, has been posted. Universal Combat Special Edition Universal Combat - A World Apart : Episode 2 Universal Combat - The Legacy Edition

The D2D versions of Playmod and PTEstudio have -D2D in their names. I have refreshed the GBSIII archive (which only works with UC and UCG) to include those two files.

Aw fer frack's sake, when is this tit going to learn?
-
You forgot to score it.

Rubbish. Don't even bother. Wait for the DVD if you can. Don't believe the hype. The plot is the typical contrived bullshit from J.J. Abrams and plays like a season finale plotline for Alias. 5/10

Have I just not been paying enough attention, or has this been a really well kept secret up until now? Actually the release date was a [now corrected] typo. Its not due out until Q3/06; around the end of Sept. to early Oct. I am also going to be releasing an expansion add-on for UCAWA which contains the engine tweaks as well as Episode 2 of the A World Apart campaign scenario and a second scenario. This will be available for download only and will require a previous UCAWA install. The pricing is set at $19.99. More on this next week once it has all be finalized.

They're going to have a HARD time topping the Batman remake.

Seriously.

OK, I got newly protected files from IGN and built a new patch which I've just now tested. It works on my end. So, rollback to .13, run the Updater and patch to .14. Let me know if it works on your end now.

quote: Originally posted by Case: SC, Good news that you are able to repeat the problem. I am not sure, but if you mean the logfiles that look like: ucawa.exe_########.time.log, .log, and .directx.log, then I posted about those files a ways back in this thread, and they occur regardless of whether or not you use the debug switch (for me anyway). Thanks, Yes, those are the log files generated by their DRM. One of them (the one with 'time' in the name) lists (as the last line) that it is unable to read the LANGUAGE.LNG file. Hence the reason the program refuses to start. I have sent them a detailed email and asked them to re-protect the EXE and all the relevant data files. I suspect that they upgraded their DRM scheme and thus only protected the EXE files and not the data files (of which that .LNG file is one). So, the result is that the new DRM signature in the EXE files, cannot read the encrypted signature in the data files, since those were created (in the Feb .13 patch) with a different DRM version. Thats why the .13 version works and .14 doesn't. Now waiting to hear from them.

I think I've found the problem. It has to do with the DRM encryption of the files. I just downloaded the same version from D2D and patched to .14 and was getting the same results. When I added /d5 to the shortcut, I got three .log files which had data showing the problem. I have NO idea why you folks are not getting those .log files.

OK, I have pulled the .14 patch for D2D. Back to the drawing board. I'm going to download and install the full game from D2D, patch it and see wtf is going on now.
-
...and you have the April 2006 DirectX installed? Install it again.
-
Did I not previously say to use /n to disable that logo? And does the Updater actually RUN the patch after downloading it?
-
PLEASE tell me what those results are and make sure you run the game in a Window.

It has been kept under wraps for quite some time. It was originally supposed to be a Q3/06 (Sept) release, but I just want it out of the way so that we can focus on UCO and our XBox360 title.
