  1. Refresh your browser. Also, we are no longer going to release the Episode 2 add-on because it no longer makes sense and would just cause me logistical/patching nightmares. So, it has been rolled into UCSE. Everyone needs to read the updated (today!) UCSE and UCLE product info PDF files on the products pages.
  2. OK cool. Thanks Case!!
  3. The D2D version is online (via the game Updater). Can someone test it to make sure that it doesn't have the previous floating point error issue?
  4. I don't see why nVida wants the ULi chipset when they have their own nForce which does just fine. So, I wouldn't be surprised if their intent is to in fact bury the brand and cause ATI problems.
  5. OK, no problem. But you should not be posting in a thread for a game you don't own. Had I known that it was something to do with UC, I would not have bothered, since its no longer supported.
  6. Yeah, that too. Anyway, boot problems are usually related to PSU issues. That person having boot up problems may have an underpowered PSU.
  7. quote: Originally posted by GeneralVagabond: I said it was from UC standard in the e-mail Why are you posting in the UC Gold forum? UC is no longer supported. If it is a problemy in UC Gold, then it would be fixed. But I tried it with a new game in UCG and could not replace it.
  8. aw fer crissakes. I didn't do ANYTHING in this build which would be causing that. Let me recompile the whole thing and see what gives. F*ck Microsoft. EDIT: Ben, check Area 51 [ 05-30-2006, 08:50 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  9. You need to follow this link I posted and change your registry settings to alleviate the PIO mode drop.
  10. I've been thinking of getting one of these for the heck of it, but the comments on the Newegg site and the boards, have been a tad nervous.
  11. quote: Originally posted by LostInSpace: The Arock PCI-E/AGP uhm, shouldn't that be the ASRock you discussed over here? I just posted to that thread too btw. quote: Originally posted by LostInSpace: One thing that was happening was that DVD burns were taking about 45min or more each to burn a 4gig disk. Yep. Read 2-3 of my posts here and you'll see why that is. Your drive has probably dropped down to PIO mode. quote: Originally posted by Soback: Like that article says. The reason it coincides with installation of some game is becaues winXP is trying to read the disk, while receiving an error, and then trying to compensate by downgrading read/write speed . Yep. And thats why, even though I too use SF in non-D2D versions of UCG and UCAWA, we don't experience those problems. The drivers are the same, but we don't use the CD-ROM for authentication. Instead, it is done online using Starforce ProActive. SF intentionally embeds bad sectors on a CD-ROM during the burning process. Only their program can read it. Windows just sees that as an error and drops down to PIO mode. Hence the problems. But don't try telling that to the anti-SF camp. quote: Originally posted by Prez: Any software that does not uninstall itself when the application it came with is uninstalled is malware in my opinion. uhm, no. The reason this is not done is because if one game removes the SF drivers, how does it know that another - currently installed game - doesn't need it? And guess what? Since the SF drivers are not a standalone install, you would then have to re-install a game that uses it in order for the currently installed games to work. Thats why games don't remove it. The SF sdk does provide the ability for the devs to uninstall SF when their game is uninstalled. We - sensibly - just don't do it for the aforementioned reason. If we did, the next thing you'll hear is something like "...UCAWA broke my BF 1942 install!!!Derek Smart!! Die beeyatch!!" SF should be able to do an install reference check so that if a game attempts to remove it, the uninstall will fail if the SF install knows about a currently installed game that requires it. And SF would auto-uninstall if its the only game on the system that is being uninstalled. Easier said than done. Its not as easy to implement as it sounds. Hence the reason they have'nt done it. 12. heh, yeah. Anyway that issue with the D2D patch is on their end. So, if it appears again in the next patch, then they'll have to sort it out. When the patch is uploaded, I'll post about it. It should be sometime in mid week hopefully.
  13. The saved game you sent me is NOT from UC Gold; so it cannot be loaded. That saved game is from UC, which is no longer supported. Nice try though. You should be banned.
  14. It should be working now. I used your saved game to verify this.
  15. It never did occur to you that it hasn't been released yet? Don't you already know that I have to wait for IGN to send me the protected files before I can build the patch for the D2D version? Do you think they - like me - work weekends? C'mon now. If the D2D version is not updating, common sense should dictate that, well, its not available. Apart from the fact that the D2D version ALWAYS takes up to a week to be available.

  17. And why that's bad for gamers.
  18. This patch requires the April 2006 (or later) DirectX runtime Use the game Updater to download and apply the patch. The online VCF has also been updated. NOTES: If you use the game's Updater, the process will go like this: If you have any version lower than 1.00.07, it will download the 1.00.07 update first. After applying this, you need to run Updater again so that it can download the incremental update to the latest version. You will have to run the Update multiple times to get all the updates to the latest version. If you already have 1.00.07 or higher installed, it will download only the incremental update to the latest version. If you don't want to use the Updater, then you have to check one of the public mirrors for a link to the full patch; which you should then copy into the game's folder and execute from there. Though this latest patch contains a new SETTINGS.INI file, if the Updater downloads the patch but it doesn't run or you discover that it didn't patch, you may need to edit the SETTINGS.INI file in Notepad and make the following changes : version=1.00.13 to version=1.00.12 (or change this to whatever the previous version was) location=. to location=%updater% Then save the file and run the Updater again. WARNING: DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE PUBLIC PATCHES AVAILABLE ON DOWNLOAD MIRRORS IF YOU HAVE THE DOWNLOAD (e.g. DIRECT2DRIVE) VERSION OF THE GAME!! USE THE UPDATER INSTEAD. ONCE THE PUBLISHERS MAKE THEIR VERSIONS OF THE PATCH AVAILABLE, THE UPDATER WILL DOWNLOAD THEM. THE TIMETABLE FOR THOSE PATCH RELEASES IS UP TO THE PUBLISHER DUE TO HOW THEIR PROTECTION SYSTEM WORKS.
  19. Bah!! Didn't I invent that already?
  20. There ya go!! Even Wolfie gives it four thumbs up.!!

You guys only felt stupid after watching a movie. Try walking around feeling stupid ALL THE TIME like I do!!! LOL!!! Actually it wasn't the movie that did it. It was that link that Lost posted. I love a good mystery. So...get this...I read the WHOLE thing. My eyes were bleeding by the time I was done. ...thats when I got up to make coffee and realized that I'd forgotten how.
  22. I just came back from seeing it. Yep, he's full of crap. I too grew up on comics and I simply do NOT see how it could have been remotely possible to do the full Dark Phoenix story arc in such a film. The movie was great and I had a blast. I plan on seeing it again before it ends. Ignore the critics. The movie is the typical Summer popcorn fare and does not disappoint. 10/10 ps: WHATEVER you do, STAY until ALL the credits have rolled off BEFORE leaving. Yes, you'd have to stay for about 10-15 mins after the movie ends, but really, you MUST or you'll miss something VERY critical. I have NO idea why they did that (i.e. put that piece after the credits)!!!
  23. I'm. I'm. I'm speechless!! Man, that looks sweet!!!
  24. After reading this, I'm a little gunshy to go and see it. Sure, one doesn't need to take the comments of critics to heart. But seriously, if Brett screwed up this film as is porported, there's going to be hell to pay!!
