I too have found that raiding Cargo Pods from under people's noses is a rather lucrative course of action. Although, some cargo pods (those near enemy stations) are just too hard to get to. Hmmmm... something to post under the tactics thread.

It's in the game... it's fair to use. Even Klingons used their cloaking devices. The Japanese used Ninja. Their castles had all sorts of alarms and deterents. They were a very real threat. As far as hunting them, you'd have to wait for the static discharge and try and spot them, or wait for them to fire. You could always do a Crazy Ivan. Russian submarine manuver where you turn suddenly to try and see behind you. This tactic in BCM would make you an unpredictable target. Also keeping your EMD on at the first sign of a static discharge would keep the missles off your back, but also blind you. Your best tactic would be to have the fleet travel as a group for mutual protection when they do uncloak. They can only keep the thing on for a limited time, which is your best option. Wait them out.

On another note, So you wanna be a ground pounder eh? Then read these. Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlien Did I spell his last name right? Don't be a cop out and watch the movie. They are TOTALLY different. This was written in 1958, the first use of "Power Armor" in sci-fi. AND Hammer's Slammers by David Drake The quintissential armored warfare sci-fi book, there are several books in this series, check em all out. If you don't read them Colonel Hammer will be angry!

So I can't spell worth a darn!

The US Gov. makes all forms of Gambling illegal. Nevada succeedes from the union and builds nuclear weapons from the stored nuclear waste in Yucca Mt. Are you with me Grayfox?

Looks like an excellent attempt by the people over at Westwood. I did a little internship over there way back in 98. Lots of fun! Well... it's not their genre and I think it blows dikatana away. Then again, I could praise the porclain god "Ralph" and get better results that what John Romero put out. Maybe some of the integration in BCM will give them some better ideas. I don't agree with the rating of "Quake II Graphics." It looks more like half-life if you ask me. My 2 lyras MP... so close and yet so far.

If you are into RPGs.... Steve Jackson Games just released a GURPS book for the lenseman chronicles and that's all I know.... Also check out the OGRE section... hehe... when can I get one of THOSE in BCM? [ 03-13-2002, 16:10: Message edited by: CedricB ]

Hmmm.. make sure you have waypoints set and that they have a valid target for Defend and Escort orders. They have a tough time seeing sometimes and will not attack. They only attack other units most of the time, not buildings. Those are my 2 cents.... PS make sure the hold button isn't on either..

Nah... on Mars they have just enough time to contemplate their deaths before they die. Nice and slow.

YEah, but the whole problem is that you'd have to blockade the jump points, because you can't get too close to the station. You'd need to wait for MP or get Fleet Control and tow the other ships to friendly stations. It would be really cool if you could board a blockade runner and take their stuff!

I'm with you Greyfox!!! No one lives forever!!!!

Here in Las Vegas, those annoying "VOTE FOR _________" signs are going up again. I usually ignore them, but there was one that caught my attention. There was this sign that say "Resnick." Some wahoo running for county commissioner or something. But when I first saw it, it registered in my head as something else. Take a wild guess what it was. No one who let's those pesky intruders on to my ship deserves to be in office!!! *stay tuned for a picture of the sign*

Just use playmod to get all your stuff back the way you had it! Although you'd loose the current state the universe is in, it would revert back to beginning status... but you'd have all those wonderful new bases to nuke again!

My suggestion would be a way around the 10 person limit for getting marines down on the planet. Do a "egg drop" much like my favorite BOOK (read: the movie sucked, it was NOT even close to the book.) Starship Troopers. The poor little troopies would get in little eggs and make planetfall that way. Direct deployment from the CC. Quick and decisive. Of course to get them back you'd need to use the shuttle or transporter but hey, you always expect casualties so for retrieval, a 10 person limit might not be that bad. To keep from getting blown away as they enter the atmosphere, the eggs would break apart and act as chaff to fool radar. Also, a few dummy eggs would be dropped too, loaded with EMD and ECM devices to protect the troopies. Of course all this would have to cost money. You'd avoid having to put all your eggs in one shuttle and risk it getting destroyed. Of course the disposable eggs are not free, but your closest friendly station would be happy to oblige. If not an orbital drop, a SC doing an atmosphere drop would be cool... they do all have jetpacks don't they? Why don't they put them to good use! Of course they'd be sitting ducks in the air. Drop more chaff. My 2 pesos.

Weeeeell.... I'd go small... all you power mongers out there disgust me! It would be a cruiser. Close in defense with lots of PTA, more than a sunflash. A slightly weaker IOD than most ships. It is intended to protect Carriers and other large ships from being raped by fighters, missles, and SF marines. There would also be at least 20-30 marines on board for boarding actions and BA defense. 2 shuttles, but the primary means of deployment would be the transporter. Light to medium sheilding and armor. Since the attackers would be primarily attacking what ever it was escorting. There ya go...

Oh... you seem to have it now... never mind. all is well. Hehehe... I found out the other day that although a station is nearly out of shields that does not mean that it has taken any real damage in anyway... I ended up jumping to my doom... oh well... live and learn.

Wait a minute... Captain X doesn't have his sys profile posted!!! Tsk tsk tsk.... Get it done or you'll end up in purgatory!

To turn all the Gammulans in to docile turnips fit for slave work. The will feel the power of Galcom!!!! Oh... and wipe those insurgents off the face of terra. And capture all intruders and leave them on mars.
-
Well... before the last patch.... I would order all of them into a shuttle and go down to the surface of some hostile enviorment planet. There I would boot them out and line them up. I would announce: "This military court finds you guilty of crimes against Galcom and it's allies. The penalty to be rendered is death. There is no appeal, and there is no one who will hear your screams." Then I aim my Assault Rifle and rid myself of the intruder problem. Some say this is cruel... but tell that to the sands of Mars.

Oh no! Someone set us up the R.A.N.D.O.M.!!! LOL!!!!! Go check out the original at Allyourbase.net or else you might not get it.

What's wrong with keeping things here now that I'm back on this web board again? This one doesn't seem to be going anywhere.... EDIT: Another interesting idea (although I know most of you are really set on this...) Naming conventions for the ships. (All gunships named after deities. All carriers named after Mythological heroes.... etc.) YET ANOTHER EDIT: Hey... how come I keep getting DB errors from that other site anyway? [ 03-11-2002, 15:53: Message edited by: CedricB ]

On a side note.... I've found hauling OC Primary Guns from genisis to Galcom to be quite lucrative... any one else have any good 1 or 2 item deals?
