Hello all. After finally getting my game to run as well as working on a campaign, I find something odd. It seems after some time of using the APC to try and take out an enemy base, the main gun seems to fail, that is, either has no more fire capability or begins to lose its' percentage of charge, with no further firing capability. I've looked around and find nothing thus far explaining this and wonder too, is this the case with any other support craft? Or is there a "cool down" time after extended use? TIA!

Okay, if I read this right, your out of your CC or SC? If so, this is what I did, and if I recall the right key combo, it was alt-s which brought up the tacops overview of everything in the sector I was in, then, using the mouse pointer, click in to the CC and it should bring up the available command list just as if you were on the bridge or cockpit of the craft. Hope that makes sense, cause it was actually and accidental discovery, right after I forgot my keys and exited my CC while it headed off to make the next waypoint I had programed. Geez, talk about a chore gettin' the CC back so I could get back in!

DX8?? I DID put that in the profile didn't I? After double checking the saved results from running the DX Diagnostic prog, I found that aparently I hadn't updated the directX files at the time I filled out the profile, the version listed in the report is,DirectX 9.0a (4.09.0000.0901). Sorry about that oversight. And too, I worded that wrong about causing a problem and want to apologize, I'm on a 10-day stretch at work and still going, doing 10+ hrs a day. I guess I must've read your wording of that reply wrong and mistook it as chiding and not just a suggestion. I didn't mean to come across as terse as that might've sounded. I'm updating my sys profile as of this post. I'm re-downloading the DX file(s) and see if that will help and just "keep at it" and see what happens. Thanks again, and keep up the good work.

As I stated in my first post to this thread, and only after reading much material on this forum/board, I DID uninstall/reinstall it and WITH the 1.08 patch.(3 times over, if I recall correctly, AND from WITHIN the program directory). And, not to be undaunted, after reading your reply, SC, I tried it again, per the FAQ instructions,(which I went back and re-read by the way), with the same result. I'll discontinue any further posts about this, since I seem to be causing a problem and that was not my intention I assure you. Thank you all again for your help. Be well and stay safe.

Here is perhaps another clue as to my problem. Once I end up back to the DT, I still have a minimized taskbar/window, with what seems to be a second instance of BCM running. Example, I start BCM, go on and try and start a game, once I create one, leave the base and try and use any ship command option and return to the bridge view, I CTD, with the "second" instance showing on the taskbar. If I attempt to click it, I return to what seems to be a running game, but, it too, ends up crashing to the desktop and ending altogether. Thanks to all who are trying to help with this.

Good Day Gentlemen, I have been a fan of this game series for some time, starting with BC3000AD and now BCM. However, since having read through the FAQ, and here regarding the mysterious CTD issue, I have still been unable to begin a new game and take on a campaign. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the prog. with and without the last UD patch, with no luck. I've tried updating the video drivers, have made the various previously posted tweeks and sound/video acceleration adjustments, with no success. The only single common denominator in all this is this....upon starting the game and at the front end, the version number at the lower left of the screen is distorted, giving me a clue that even with whatever adjustment/update(grade) I had made hasn't worked. Also, if I proceed from this screen, the text(s) from that point on are nearly unreadable, again, telling me that it won't work correctly. I'm certain that I have read all that I can here and have had no success still. ANY help in this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in/on the developement team and of course you too, SC, for what I can safely say is the single best space sim/rpg I've ever had the pleasure of playing.(Er, when it works that is. )
