No, you may want to look at this thread: http://www.3000ad.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=50005813 and this forum instead: http://www.3000ad.com/forum/index.php?showforum=28

That would be even better than an image like this: http://www.eve-files.com/media/12/eve_chart-rmr.jpg

Just working on my third map for Sid Meier's Railroads using USGS data, and playing some of the maps from the hooked on games community forum. Was connecting to the beta .06 ucce server when it was up a few weekends ago and had fun there. Otherwise just roaming the universe to see what I can see.

Videogame piracy and the PC gaming industry
Protoford replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in PC Gaming & Technology
I'm not very happy with the 'phone home' every ten days to stay active. Even with a ten day grace period. So, if I'm deployed on a submarine, I can play for twenty days, then unable to play for the next few months until I get internet access again. brilliant. Some games I load years later, will their activation servers be up then? It took me eight years and three systems to complete Ultima IX. And I still had to use the 'fly cheat' to get the items needed, after each shrine restoration, to complete the game. I 'roamed' in BCM for years, and am cruising through UCCE now. I'm glad I do not have to phone home with these ever few days. -

New Player Looking for Starter info and Tips for UCCE
Protoford replied to Moonracer1313's topic in Universal Combat Series
I need launch control to recover them. With it turned off, they just bounce off the flight deck back into space, and mad at me for following orders and denting their fighter/shuttle. -
Being on duty and/or peforming a function seems to do it for me. Off Duty they just eat and rest up, with no AI gain that I can detect.

The second half was interesting.

How Do I get from planet back to CC????? HELP!!!
Protoford replied to Nature539's topic in Universal Combat Series
Glad you got back to you CC. I remembered reading about transporter controls in the manual for UC and using Evacuation tags in the tutorial which is why I mentioned both and sorry that I did not have them in front of me before responding. -
Here in hollywood, sequel sometimes means the continuation of the original story, and prequel means a setup to the original story, not always another story. My hope is that they are splitting the book into at least two movies, and not skipping hundreds of pages of storyline.

How Do I get from planet back to CC????? HELP!!!

Reading through the manual and the tutorial will help you find the answer to your 'problem'. Examples are given to go through that very exercise. -
At least they breaking it up into two movies.

Cute trailer. The comments about it on bluesnews were not cute.

Me too. The deeper I go in this game, the more awe-struck I become.

Was able to turn off SOS for me walking around, but not for the ship. Oh well, resigned myself to forever being randomely towed to a station with that AE's capital ship... ...unless someone has a tip for me canceling the capital ship's SOS broadcast signal out.

That is a much better way to spend your off time that what I did. http://www.flickr.com/photos/61208447@N00/...57603152962171/ The silly pictures show my mis-adventures of rescuing shuttles with my carrier after I sent the shuttles in to a war zone to pick up mining drones. It wasn't a warzone when I dropped the drones, but I guess all the shuttle activity upset the residents of the nearby insurgent base. Set a waypoint over the ocean for the CC and let the A/P take me in, unfortunately it wanted to play submarine. Wasn't very damaged, but could not get out of the water either. Launched the damaged shuttles that were nearby to tow me out, they could not quite do it, but they could dock with me underwater. Eventually I got into shuttle 4 myself and towed the thing out into the sky, but could not find the code to egress back into space, argh. 'O' did not work like in BCMG but got me the nearest attacking target, so I thought, well I can't just hold here and get shot at while I look the correct command [didn't think to pause either] so I decide to land in the scrub brush near the beach whilst looking up the command in the printed manual. I let the carrier go a few feet inland only to have it plant itself a few feet under the dunes. Great. Land the shuttle and walk over to it, whilst being pursued by insurgent marines nearby. Standing on the beach, I could sense the ship, but not see it, but was still able to board and re-capture the remaining shuttles, still stuck in the sand. Found the correct command to egress on the keyboard sheet [duh] but still needed to get out of the sand, Ship was sound, just buried. Finally walked to the shuttle bay and popped out in the best looking one, turned on the tractor beam and wished with all my might. After a successful lock, pointed straight up, not bothering to look around, but seeing that my range to target did not go over 0.01 I sensed that I was okay, got over the altitude threshold, issued the orbital egress command and voila, into space. Once in space, docked the shuttle and went back to the bridge, darn SOS beacon is still going, dock at starbase, undock, still broadcasting SOS and all units are tagged in blue. Argh, friend or foe is out the window. Had my shuttle tow me to spacedock, no help, requested a tow thinking it would toggle the SOS off, nope. Ignored it and went about my business. Near Pluto this GAM/PRA catches up with my little newbie carrier and starts to tow me to the nearest starbase. argh again. It gets me there, and then self destructs. I still have this darn SOS beacon blaring to one and all that I am in distress. How do I turn this darn thing off? Back to manual I go...

...when walking to the shuttle bay, you get whacked by an intruder.

A 'Very well done!' to all involved in the re-design and the importing of forum data. A fresh look for a fresh direction.

Trailer - In the name of the king (Dungeon Siege)
Protoford replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in The Arts
bad accents, bad director, too [two] bad. -
Enjoyable escape from reality. Cool off in air-conditioned comfort with lots of great stunts whilst the rest wilt outside in the heat.

It was very fun to watch, and very loud to listen too. Stayed pretty true to the 'all spark' mythos also. Autobots and Decepticons must report. Pretty easy to get a sequel from the way it ended too, though for Megatron it will be harder.

A new computer/phone was announced today at http://www.openmoko.com/ and http://www.openmoko.org/ Looks like something cool for the phone hacker in you!

Interesting announcement at http://gameinfowire.com/news.asp?nid=10738 that an economist has been hired and will give quarterly reports on the virtual economy.

Even the launch date of 747 is cool.
