  1. In my opionion the catholic church is affraid, they are seeing their worst nightmare come true. For some time the issues raised in the Da Vinci Code was more or less an underground thing. But with this book, it has brought some of these ideas (which have been around for a very long) to the masses. This, however, has been discussed in another thread: Whose fault was it? Romans Or Jews. The first link I posted in that thread is dead use the second one. A little off topic: SC that line that begins that thread I linked to still makes me LMAO "I don't really care. I simply moved this over here so that Jaguar and his band of merry men can impale themselves.". Ah, classic.
  2. quote:Originally posted by ShoHashi: I picked it up today and have no problem whatsoever running it. You can check my sig for my system specs. There was also a bunch of people whining that SH3 will only let you install 5 times. I found clarification on the SH3 website forum. According to the developers, the 5 install limit is only applicable to the digital download version. If you have the DVD-Rom version, you can reistall as many times as you want without any limitations. Cool, thanks for the follow up. Maybe I will pick it up tomorrow. Don't think I've bought a game with that starforce protection. The only one I'm aware of that's been with the games I've used is the safedisk. Was just a little worried about it because a lot of people (not with SH3) have been having a bad time with starforce to the point of calling it like a virus or just crippleware. When you uninstall the game/program, the starforce doesn't get uninstalled with it. Quite a few people have had to do fresh OS installs also to clear it up because it was interfering with other programs etc... But that could be due to some not knowing what they are doing. We all know those kind of people. As for the 5 time limit. First time I'm hearing about that. But it makes sense that it doesn't involve the DVD version. More of some people not knowing what they are doing.
  3. quote:Originally posted by Spindoktor: The copy protection sucks. It even verifies the disc when running the mission editor. Paranoia is running rampart at Ubisoft. From what I've been reading around the net is that SH3 is using Starforce 3 protection. Oy vey. Please keep us appraised of any computer issues you encounter since installing the game. I was going to pick this game up tomorrow but I'll think I will wait until I see anyone with/without major problems with this copy protection that many many others have had. Thanks.
  4. AP: Wal-Mart Agrees to Pay $11M to Settle Allegations It Used Illegal Immigrants to Clean Stores quote:Since 1998, federal authorities have uncovered the cases of at least 250 illegal immigrants who were employed by janitor contracting services and hired by the giant retailing chain in 21 states. Many of the janitors from Mexico, Russia, Mongolia, Poland and a host of other nations worked seven days or nights a week without overtime pay or injury compensation, said attorney James L. Linsey. Those who worked nights were often locked in the store until the morning, Linsey said.
  5. Jeezus! What a difference a day makes. I think SC scared them when he said "that's it?" with a follow up comment by soback.
  6. Some greedly little suckes must be falling for that if it's still around. I recieved this same letter during the past summer via fax at the office I work in. In fact, the office recieved 3 faxes, over time, the one above and two others that were different but similar.

  8. EGOSOFT: IN 2005, YOU WILL RETURN TO THE X-UNIVERSE. X┬▓: The Return enhances the already extensive universe with additional missions, weapons systems and space sectors. A complete new storyline adds further tension. Newcomers will enjoy the additions to the already graphically impressive, almost living X┬▓-Universe, while veterans can expect new construction options and an improved physics model. ScreenshotsPlayer HQ Introducing the new station type that people have been speculating about. This brand new, fantastic looking station, that will be in X┬▓: The Return is the brand new Player owned Headquarters. The station will have many new features included to allow the station to act as a functioning Player HQ, we do not want to release everything about this new feature, so most of it will remain a surprise. Station Hubs The giant stations that have been seen in some screenshots are Station Complexes. These are just normal stations that you can connect to each other using tunnel like modules to reduce the transportation issue that you get with slow freighters. New Weapons There are also several new weapons that you can use to equip your ship, The Yaki disruptor is quite a devastating new weapon. Yaki, (a group of extremely deadly pirates) use this weapon to disrupt ship engines. There will be an anti missile defence, a new very fast firing and deadly weapon and more. ------------------------------------------------- Screen Shots
  9. In the next 40 years, we may not even need oil anymore. 40 years is a long time (in terms of human life) and no telling what wonderful energy technologies will emerge.
  10. LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- The space probe Cassini discovered a significant atmosphere around Saturn's moon Enceladus during two recent passes close by, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory said on Wednesday.

  15. quote:Originally posted by Marvin: This game is about to hit the shelves. Before you buy, you might like to check out this rather comprehensive review by someone who's involved with a lot of sub sims. Thanks for the link. Good write up. I had no doubts about this one.

  19. quote:Originally posted by Grayfox: man if they did doom with its original background, the whole church (mainly catholicism) community will be up in arms... all they need to smell is the words "satan" and "hell" in the film and theyll be all over it like a fly on a dung heap. not gonna happen anytime soon How do you figure that? There's plenty of those kind of movies around. In Doom, as in most of the rest, hell takes an ars whooping.
  20. (CBS) The images that aired last August in a 12-minute movie on Dutch television were meant to shock its viewers. In one image, the opening lines of the holy book, the Koran, were written across the naked body of a Muslim woman. Another image showed Koranic verses about female obedience scrawled on the back of a woman beaten by her husband, while a female voice accused Allah of condoning the violence. The movie, "Submission," was directed by HollandÔÇÖs most controversial film maker, Theo Van Gogh, a descendant of the painter Vincent Van Gogh, and a national gadfly, who made a career insulting everyone, no matter their faith, race or gender. Thoughts?
  21. Yup, also pay attention to the source of this story as well. UPI which is owned by Rev. Moon (I didn't think this guy was still around). I had quite forgotten about that. One hasn't heard much about him in the news for quite some time.
  22. quote:Originally posted by Cmdr Chavik: quote:Originally posted by Grayfox: quote:The law requires that defendants on trial not be handcuffed as they enter the courtroom, to make sure the sight of cuffs doesn't unfairly influence the jury. ya that makes real sense... i could rant hours on end about the stupidity of quoted law, but ill save you folks instead ill offer this: bet your ass that law will change real quick All they have to do is have suspects handcuffed till just outside the courtroom. Okay, how about this: Zapper wrist bracelets? One ounce of trouble and zap he's contained.
  23. Epic Games' demonstration of its next-generation graphics engine causes a buzz in San Francisco. What a difference a year makes. quote:To demonstrate this, Epic showed an Unreal Engine 3 demo in which boulders rolled down a hill. In Unreal Tournament 2003, the engine could calculate and display about 10 boulders rolling down a hill at a time. Unreal Tournament 2004 increased that number to about 20. Both of those combined are nowhere close to the number of physical objects that Unreal Engine 3 can handle at the same time. To illustrate this, an avalanche of more than 600 boulders rolled down the hill, each reacting realistically to collisions, and each casting its own shadow. Check out the demo footage at the bottom of the page.
  24. quote:Originally posted by DocHoliday: I put it under laughter thread, so comments are invited, but on a humorous level No use discussing propaganda seriously anyway. Cheers, Doc Damn, you just took the fun right out of it!
  25. The entire news media is broke and isn't doing the american public justice. That's all there is to it. It needs to be fixed from the inside out. I don't care what political party you are affiliated with I'm sure all of you can agree with this. Maybe if the american public stopped watching it and their ratings plummet to zero, someone may get the message. BTW: I think someone already posted something about this story. I could be wrong but it seems awfully familiar.
