quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: My main thing with the Indians is that we have actual signed treaties with them. We made agreements, and 9 out of 10 of them we broke. Well, I don't want us breaking any more treaties with the Indians, we abused them, we took advantage of them, now it's their turn. That's the only thing that I consider. If the treaties did not exist, that would be one thing, but those treaties do exist, and I don't feel that we should break them because we want the money that they have worked hard to get, and deserve. It's their money, they are their casinos, etc. The Indians own them, they are soveriegn nations within our own borders, and we should not be breaking treaties with the indians because now they have something else that we want. Remember some else from history who did that all too often sign treaties and break them Hitler. Besides, if we keep doing that to the American Indians, how is the rest of the world going to perceive our treaties with them(the other countries).

quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: quote: When Bill and Hillary first got married Bill said, "I am putting a box under the bed. You must promise never to look in it." In all their 30 years of marriage, Hillary never looked. However, on the afternoon of their 30th anniversary, curiosity got the best of her and she lifted the lid and peeked inside. In the box were 3 empty beer cans and $81,874.25 in cash. She closed the box and put it back under the bed. Now that she knew what was in the box, she was doubly curious as to why there even was such a box with such contents. That evening, they were out for a special anniversary dinner. After dinner, Hillary could no longer contain her curiosity and she confessed, saying, "I am so sorry. For all these years, I kept my promise and never looked into the box under our bed. However, today the temptation was too much and I gave in. But now I need to know, why do you keep the 3 beer cans in the box?" Bill thought for a while and said, "I guess after all these years you deserve to know the truth. Whenever I was unfaithful to you, I put an empty beer can in the box under the bed to remind myself not to do it again." Hillary was shocked, but said, "Hmmm, Jennifer, Paula and Monica. I am very disappointed and saddened by your behavior. However, since you are addicted to sex, I guess it does happen and I guess 3 times is not that bad considering your problem." Bill thanked her for being so understanding. They hugged and made their peace. A little while later Hillary asked Bill, "So why do you have all that money in the box?" Bill answered: "Well, whenever the box filled up with empty cans, I took them to the recycling center and redeemed them for cash." ROFLMAO!! Hey, hey hey now now as a moderator you should know better than that. There is already a Joke of the day thread. I know the jokes are pretty bad there but that doesn't mean you have to avoid it like the plague . (just busting your chops) . Anyway I'd just thought I'd throw in my own political joke here . BTW that was a good one . George W. Bush was out walking when he saw Moses. "Hey, Moses! STOP!!" he yelled. But Moses walked on, ignoring him. After a few blocks, Bush caught up with him. "Moses, why didn't you stop and talk to me?" asked Bush. "Well," Moses replied, "the last time I talked to a bush, I wandered the desert for 40 years."

Now they are going to try the Utopian thing again. I dunno the whole matrix theme sounds more like a metaphor for Bill Gates trying to develope the perfect OS.

I mean common the Word in office, Money comes bundled with windows and Goback this is just classic stuff. I only wish I could unlease the really good stuff but I cannot on this forum because they are rude crude and obnoxious stuff and I'd get kicked off in a heart beat not that some of you wouldn't mind that happening to me .

Okay here is another big gun!!! ABBOT: Computer Support Group. Can I help you? COSTELLO: Thanks. I'm setting up a home office in the den, and I'm thinking of buying a computer. ABBOT: Mac? COSTELLO: No, the name is Lou. ABBOT: Your computer? COSTELLO: I don't own a computer. I want to buy one. ABBOT: Mac? COSTELLO: I told you, my name is Lou. ABBOT: What about Windows? COSTELLO: Why? Does it get stuffy? ABBOT: Do you want a computer with Windows? COSTELLO: I don't know. What do I see when I look out the windows? ABBOT: Wallpaper. COSTELLO: Never mind the windows. I need a computer and software. ABBOT: Software that runs on Windows? COSTELLO: No, on the computer! I need something I can use to write proposals, track expenses. You know, run a business. What have you got? ABBOT: Office. COSTELLO: Yeah, for my office. Can you recommend anything? ABBOT: I just did. COSTELLO: You just did what? ABBOT: Recommended something. COSTELLO: You recommended something? ABBOT: Yes. COSTELLO: For my office? ABBOT: Yes. COSTELLO: Okay, what did you recommend for my office? ABBOT: Office. COSTELLO: Yes, for my office. ABBOT: Office for Windows. COSTELLO: I already have an office and it already has windows! Let's say I'm sitting at my computer, and I want to type a proposal. What do I need? ABBOT: Word. COSTELLO: If I'm writing a proposal, I'm going to need lots of words. But what program do I load? ABBOT: Word. COSTELLO: What word? ABBOT: The Word in Office. COSTELLO: The only word in office is office. ABBOT: The Word in Office for Windows. COSTELLO: Which word in "office for windows?" ABBOT: The Word you get when you click the blue W. COSTELLO: I'm going to click your big W if you don't give me a straight answer. Let's forget about words for a minute. What do I need if I want to watch a movie over the Internet? ABBOT: RealOne. COSTELLO: Maybe a real movie, maybe a cartoon. What I watch is none of your business. But what do I need to watch it? ABBOT: RealOne. COSTELLO: If it's a long movie I'll also want to watch reels two, three and four. Can I watch reel four? ABBOT: Of course. COSTELLO: Great! With what? ABBOT: RealOne. COSTELLO: Okay, so I'm sitting at my computer and I want to watch a movie. What do I do? ABBOT: You click the blue 1. COSTELLO: I click the blue one what? ABBOT: The blue 1. COSTELLO: Is that different from the blue W? ABBOT: Of course it is. The blue 1 is RealOne. The blue W is Word. COSTELLO: What word? ABBOT: The Word in Office for Windows. COSTELLO: But there's three words in "office for windows!" ABBOT: No, just one. But it's the most popular Word in the world. COSTELLO: It is? ABBOT: Yes, although to be fair there aren't many other Words left. It pretty much wiped out all the other Words. COSTELLO: And that word is the real one? ABBOT: No. RealOne has nothing to do with Word. RealOne isn't even part of Office. COSTELLO: Never mind; I don't want to get started with that again. But I also need something for bank accounts, loans, and so on. What do you have to help me track my money? ABBOT: Money. COSTELLO: That's right. What do you have? ABBOT: Money. COSTELLO: I need money to track my money? ABBOT: No, not really. It comes bundled with your computer. COSTELLO: What comes bundled with my computer? ABBOT: Money. COSTELLO: Money comes bundled with my computer? ABBOT: Exactly. No extra charge. COSTELLO: I get a bundle of money with my computer at no extra charge? How much money do I get? ABBOT: Just one copy. COSTELLO: I get a copy of money. Isn't that illegal? ABBOT: No. We have a license from Microsoft to make copies of Money. COSTELLO: Microsoft can license you to make money? ABBOT: Why not? They own it. COSTELLO: Well, it's great that I'm going to get free money, but I'll still need to track it. Do you have anything for managing your money? ABBOT: Managing Your Money? That program disappeared years ago. COSTELLO: Well, what do you sell in its place? ABBOT: Money. COSTELLO: You sell money? ABBOT: Of course. But if you buy a computer from us, you get it for free. COSTELLO: That's all very wonderful, but I'll be running a business. Do you have any software for, you know, accounting? ABBOT: Simply Accounting. COSTELLO: Probably, but it might get a little complicated. ABBOT: If you don't want Simply Accounting, you might try M.Y.O.B. COSTELLO: M.Y.O.B.? What does that stand for? ABBOT: Mind Your Own Business. COSTELLO: I beg your pardon? ABBOT: No, that would be I.B.Y.P. I said M.Y.O.B. COSTELLO: Look, I just need to do some accounting for my home business. You know--accounting? You do it with money. ABBOT: Of course you can do accounting with Money. But you may need more. COSTELLO: More money? ABBOT: More than Money. Money can't do everything. COSTELLO: I don't need a sermon! Okay, let's forget about money for the moment. I'm worried that my computer might...what's the word? Crash. And if my computer crashes, what can I use to restore my data? ABBOT: GoBack. COSTELLO: Okay. I'm worried about my computer smashing and I need something to restore my data. What do you recommend? ABBOT: GoBack. COSTELLO: How many times do I have to repeat myself? ABBOT: I've never asked you to repeat yourself. All I said was GoBack. COSTELLO: How can I go back if I haven't even been anywhere? Okay, I'll go back. What do I need to write a proposal? ABBOT: Word. COSTELLO: But I'll need lots of words to write a proposal. ABBOT: No, you only need one Word-the Word in Office for Windows. COSTELLO: But there's three words in...Oh, never mind. ABBOT: Hello? Hello? Customers! Why do they always hang up on me? Oh, well. Computer Support Group. Can I help you?

quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: Got that right, Oregon and Washington are actually trying the same thing. The Indians are happy to pay their fair share, but they are getting a bit angry at being the target for all of the states largess. The Oregon Health program is one such program that they are trying to get the Indian Casinos and smokers to pay for. There is a tax revolt coming, and the politicians are gonna be wondering what happened. It's our money fools, NOT yours, and we have about had it with you stealing it. Thanks for the heads up on the other two states I'll look into that as well and do the same I've done here in NY send off a letter to them. Anyway, at first that's what they used to sell the cigarette tax increase to the public here in NY that it would go towards health care (anyone buy that I sure don't) but since then you never hear a word about it the only thing I find mentioned is that they want to use this tax to fill up the budget gap and nothing to do with primarily the health care. This is all I see mentioned anywhere including from the mouths of politicians "The Legislature is counting on the taxes for hundreds of millions of dollars to help close budget gaps. The state Department of Taxation and Finance, however, estimates only $20 million this year and $64.5 million next year." Maybe if these Basterds cleaned up their books and got rid of the pork barrel spending (not cutting back the essential stuff like police, firedept, education etc..) then I bet they could fill that gap real fast and leave us tax payers alone. To give you an example what I'm talking about I saw a report on the news here in NY that there a numerous school principles that aren't working but are still getting a paycheck of anywhere from $90,000-130,000 grand a year. Oy crap. What I'm thinking here is if Pataki, in case he runs for president, got letters from all over the country or even Canada and abroad for that matter (since I know alot of users here are scattered all over the globe) he'd back down and realize that he made a boo-boo if he ever wants to run for President. And the same is true to any other state that wants to pick on the American Indians again. So if any of you have problems in your state or know of a state that has this problem maybe you could leave links to the politicians so we can give them all a piece of our mind.
-
Bastards!! Yep New York state is at it again. trying to break a century old treaty with the Amrerican Indian. Even the federal government said that NY can't enforce the tax if the tribal leaders would not cooperate. The politicians tried this once before and lost but are back at it again. NY even tried strong arm tactics. Anyway, even if you are not from this state, send the pre-written letter to Gov. Pataki in the first link and express your disgust. American Indians got enough of a shaft by this country let's not let it happen again. What makes it more disgusting is that the news media is keeping mum about the whole thing why is that I wonder. What ever happened to aggresive news reporting? Honor Indian Treaties Closing the NY budget gap on the backs of American Indians not to mention on smokers backs too. A CALL FOR HELP NYS Not Compelled To Collect Tax on Indian Land What happened before

Thanks Yeah, if they've used one of those PC translation programs I can see the problem. We dabled in those some time ago and to put simply they butchered the target language translation. I'm surprised at Akella cause their english manuals are fine but then again the US publishers took care of that. Oh yeah, SC didn't know about Akella doing the russian distribution it was Dreamcatchers deal. He actually found out about them from this BC forum. Actually, I think I was the one to bring it to SC's attention because I'm usually haunting Akella's site to keep up on game progress and such and I saw BCMG in their games menu.

You know something, I haven't even seen the matrix part two and probably won't see three either. I was more than satisfied with the first one and am too affraid of seeing any more fillers to expand the story. No thanks, I have an imagination for that that I'm sure is way better than part 2 or 3.

quote:Originally posted by Race Bannon IV: Using the size of the desert as an excuse NOTHING has been found, and as further justification of the tremendous financial and emotional toll this cluster**** is taking on our country is criminal. All we are showing by not drastically altering our policy over there is that we are intransigent and mediocre diplomatically. The diplomatic blunders and the shameless way Bush sent his wife to kowtow to the French made me physically ill. Where is the coalition of the willing now? That said, pulling out is not an honorable option. We simply have stuck our foot in it and must find a better way to extricate ourselves. In doing that we also must look at what the true reasons for going over REALLY were. No American would have supported us going there to liberate Iraq, and now that we have no Saddam,no Bin Laden and no WMD's one has to wonder. Part of me wants them to fail and reveal themselves as the political opportunists I think they are, but this issue is much bigger than that I truly hope that the Bush people get this one right and soon. Too much is at stake. Ah, good argument but a few things we can't really say Saddam or Bin Laden are gone just yet not until we have definetive confirmation that they have indeed expired. All we've done right now is chase them into the shadows. And since we can't seem to get our hands on these two guys, what makes you think getting our hands on the WMD would be any easier. I for one can or cannot say whether there are WMD's becuase I just don't know as I'm sure the rest of us can say that and if you guys do say there are or aren't WMD's what physical evidence are you basing this on. The debacle that's going on over there now with the deaths of our brave soldiers is a military blunder and I think military command heads should roll over this not our political leaders (yet). What do I base this on, well according to CNN the military rounded up all the weapons from the Iraqies and do you know where they put them in unguarded dumps in the desert and they never bothered to blow them up. There the weapons sit for anyone with a suicide tendency to grab them up and use them. What are they thinking!? As for getting involved over there, why not. We would have had to deal with this sooner or later. You are forgetting one point, we are responsible for what has gone on in the middle east. What do I mean by "We"? The western powers, from the US to RUSSIA, from all the world wars to the cold war but mostly the cold war. Between us and the russians we've done a really good job over their using the middle eastern people as our pawns in the cold war game and fostering the kind of attitudes that prevail in the middle east now. From Democratic to Rebulican presidents allowing people in power over there we and the russians and all the other western powers knew if they were citizens in any country they'd be arrested as serial killers. So who do you say should clean this mess up that's gone over in the middle east for so many decades? It's called taking responsibility but I know in this country this idea has fallen out of fashion. As for Bush's wife sent "Kowtowing" the french it's no worse than Bill Clinton shaking the hands of Fidel Castro or Hilary Clinton kissing and embracing Mrs Arafat (a year after Mrs Arafat's Anti-israel speech). Not to mention the opportunities Bill Clinton had to nail Bin Laden noooooo he'd rather sit on his butt nailing interns. At least we have a president now that's willing to take the bull by the horns and kick him in nuts!

quote:Originally posted by $iLk: what right do we have to attack a sovereign nation without a clear and present danger to ourselves? You are correct to a point with this. But it wasn't for the present danger we did this but the future one. Given time Saddam would have gone Nuclear. Remember Hitler. This country sat on their collective asses not wanting to get involved with this guy. If we had done something sooner with him (not just when there was a clear and present danger to ourselves) there would have been a hell of a lot lower deaths from ally casualties to the victims of the concentration camps. quote:Originally posted by $iLk: I personally feel that WMD will probably not be found Egads, you know how big Iraq is and how much desert there is. Those things could be hidden anywhere and the only way I can see for them to do a through search is comb the desert like they did in that wacky movie SPACE BALLS (remember that one). quote:Originally posted by $iLk: The problem has always been that there is politics involved and don't forget about religion too. This plays a very big part on what goes over there. We see it for political reasons but they see it as religious. Look at Saddam, this guy I'm sure doesn't/didn't have a religious bone in his body but when we attacked he called on all arabs to help in his defense in the name of allah calling for a jihad. I mean the guy couldn't just say "Can you help me out fellow arabs from these bullies I'm a nice guy and my politics are humanitary" you think they would have believed him with that!? Nooo so he played the religious card.

Well since I started the Legacy games thread I've just realized it would be nice to have this thread to keep everything nice and tidy and in one location. I was checking out the Akella's web site (the same company that distrubtes the Battlecruiser millennium in russia) and came across this game they are working on due to be released Q3 2004 PT BOATS: Knights of the Sea. Check out that first screen shot. If DREAMCATCHER was smart (no pun intended ), they should pick up the distribution here in the states. [ 06-03-2004, 09:33 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
