  1. Doesn't China hold a large percentage of our national debt in the form of bonds ? If so, maybe then can just buy us out ?
  2. Israel can have Jerusalem as its capital. If other countries don't like then that is their perogative. The Pals don't care a whit about where Israel decides it can have it's borders they want the whole falafel and will stop at nothing until they get it. Take it up with them first. But you basically evaded every single question I brought up. At this point the debate is closed I guess. Onto China.... http://www.3000ad.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?u...c;f=34;t=000626
  3. That's nice about the UN, Israel doesn't respect, the USA doesn't respect, No Arab countries respect them. OK WHO DOES RESPECT UN LAW ? But more to the point... Please respond to the points brought up though ? What is Israel to DO ? What is the PA to DO? I mean actions, not words. Specifically, How many terror organizations has Machmud Abbas dismantled as of today ? What compromises is Abbas prepared to make that are backed up by action ? As for disengagement Hamas just couldn't wait to start shooting rockets. http://www.israelnn.com/news.php3?id=88677 As to your famed disengagement majority: 1) Why no referendum ? The majority wanted that. 2) How do you explain mass rallies in Tel-Aviv & Jerusalem that DWARFED the PeaceNow Niks in the 80's 3) And how do you explain: A widely publicized weeklong show of support for the disengagement attracted only tens of supporters. The supporters drove in a caravan through Israel, ending in Jerusalem. According to the organizer, there were at most seventy cars involved. http://web.israelinsider.com/Articles/Politics/6166.htm 4) over 500,000+ protestors showed up in Tel-Aviv, Statistically speaking that is A HUGE SAMPLE for a country like Israel. and last... 5) Yedioth Ahronoth polls are shown to be heavily biased and incorrect. Polls: Media Biased and Unfair 15:43 Jul 21, '05 / 14 Tammuz 5765 By Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu Almost half of Israelis blame the media for unfair reporting and bias in favor of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, according to a new poll. Support for the expulsion plan has dropped to 48 percent. The survey was conducted earlier this week by Drs. Yariv Tzafati and Yoram Perry of the Herzog Institute. They said results also showed that most Israelis do not think that a unilateral withdrawal from Gaza and northern Samaria will bring peace and may not bring less terror. Support for expulsion plan has been based on feelings that the government has not choice but to carry it out, the pollsters added. Israeli media incite tension in Israeli society, according to 75 per cent of the respondents. Forty-six percent are not satisfied with the media coverage of the issue, partly because they think the media report "illogically" and have taken a position in favor of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. Backing the unilateral withdrawal are only 48 percent of Israelis while opposition remains steady at 38 percent after climbing from 33 percent several months ago. Support has fallen dramatically from two-thirds to approximately 50 percent except for a temporary rise after anti-Sharon demonstrations that blocked traffic. More than half of the respondents think that the disengagement plan will heighten tensions in Israeli society, while 43 percent expect more terror and only 25 percent expect less terror following the proposed withdrawal. A substantial majority of 65 percent replied that most of the Jewish residents in Gaza moved there as pioneers and Zionists, but 57 percent of the respondents also agreed that in retrospect, Jewish communities should not have been established in Gaza. ---- And for more fun: http://www.theraphi.com/ppe/iibsobipm.html --- Points have been made. I haven't seen any real rebutal of the facts I've presented in my previous posts about some of the reality in the Holy Land. So I think the case is pretty much closed. To Close and Shabbat Shalom, from Charles Krauthammer: "What follows is the world saying, almost in unison, that the Gaza evacuation is just the beginning of a total Israeli retreat, one Dunkirk to be followed by many more. What follows is Condoleezza Rice declaring that "it cannot be Gaza only," a thrilling encouragement to the Palestinians jeering the Israeli withdrawal with chants of "Gaza today, Jerusalem tomorrow." Is this what the Bush administration wants? More unilateral concessions to an implacable enemy whose "moderate" leader, Mahmoud Abbas, declares that "we will not rest until they leave from all our land" -- when Palestinian maps show "our land" as nothing less than all of British Palestine with Israel totally eradicated?
  4. Measures taken by a state to protect the lives of it's citizens from a violent and hostile threat are legal under international law. UN Charter Article 51 That means establishing defensive measures and includes taking offensive measures. Classic line: "The world always tells israel what it can't do against terrorism, why doesn' the world tell us what israel CAN do against terrorism." Checkpoints are a defensive measure and are not a "punishment". You go through a checkpoint at an airport, is that a punishment ? Before the intifada in the 1990s, no checkpoints. Terror -> Checkpoints Defensive Wall. Israel has every right to that measure. Is it a punishment ? Obviously not. Before the Intifada 2, no wall. Terror -> Wall Israeli raids on PA occupied cities, operations to capture terrorists and if necessary to kill them. What do you expect ? What would any rational country do that has been continously attacked in this way since it's inception ? Terror -> Raids Do civilians get killed, yes. The IDF does an admiral job of minimizing civilian casualities in doing the best job it can in complying with the geneva accords. What does the PA/Fateh/Hamas/Islamic Jihad/Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade/Hizbollah/Tanzim and all the other para-military organizations do ? What is their responsiblity to the civilians in Israel and the PA occupied territories ? Or is it a double standard ? Pals. can do anything they want and only Israel is up for criticism ? Palestinian civilian casualties are a CONSEQUENCE of the actions taken by the Palestinian government and para-military terrorist organizations. --- You seem to like quotations from international law and treaties. Ok lets play... Occupied Territory : http://www.jcpa.org/brief/brief005-3.htm Settlement: The Mandate for Palestine, League of Nations, July 24th, 1922 see preamble and article 6 UN General Assembly Resolution 181, 1947 Chapter 2 Part 8, Chapter 3 Part 1 1967, the UN passed resolution 242, calling for secure and recognized boundaries and for the end of all threats of violence to all countries in the region. Palestinian National Charter of 1968 Article 9: Armed struggle is the only way to liberate Palestine. Article 10: Commando action constitutes the nucleus of the Palestinian popular liberation war. Article 19: The partition of Palestine in 1947 and the establishment of the state of Israel are entirely illegal. Article 20: Claims of historical or religious ties of Jews with Palestine are incompatible with the facts of history. When Israel offered to withdraw from 95% of the West Bank in the Taba Conference of 2001 the Pals. said another famous "No". The response was Intifada 2. Last but not least UN Resolution 1373 "Refrain from providing any support, active or passive, to entities or persons involved in terrorist acts I have about 6 more UN resolutions that you might be interested in reading. --- Considering the world has not bothered to step in and curb PA terror nor stop the flow of money into the PA through UNWRA or other donation agencies. Then the world approves of the PA and Arab worlds ethnic cleansing of the Jewish minority from the Middle-East. The question is Nomad, which side are you on ?
  5. We are forgetting that Israel is at WAR. Collective punishment is illegal in the USA with regards to punishing criminals who are given a trial in the legal system. Israel is fighting a war against a foreign power that wants it's ultimate demise. In war civilians are killed and it is a tragedy, this is why you do not want to fight or perpetuate wars. But this one started a long time ago, and hobbling Israel's defense forces will do nothing but prolong the war.
  6. One more on palestinian universities: http://www.jcpa.org/jl/vp522.htm Enjoy
  7. Samia Halileh Institute of Community and Public Health Birzeit University, Ramallah, West Bank 29/6/2002 Nice Report. Somehow I am not convinced of the credibility of the academic work coming from a university in Ramallah. (see below for a little Birzeit Rhetoric, considering they are supporters of suicide bombers). Way too much propaganda coming out of those places to even merit reading let alone believing. Of course the Nazi universities had many studies backing up their theories of eugenics so .... -------- All we ever see from the palestinian media and universities is their never ending "victimhood". Not only is their media and academic institutions rife with propaganda, outright lies, and libel but there is never any responsibility taken for their own actions and situation. What happened to the BILLIONS of dollars given by Israel and the world to the PA/PLO ? What was done with that money ? If the palestinians are so desperate then where is their mass peaceful demonstrations against terror ? Where is their tireless effort to remove corruption from the PA ? Where is their rejection of violence and exremism ? Where is their negotiation and compromise with Israel ? Sorry but the victim card doesn't play here. There are too many victims laying in blue and white flags 6ft under to claim any special victim status for the pals. Your wife may have the right to decry "Israeli Hypocracy" but that doesn't mean her complaints have any merit. Let's see her argue that Israel has a right to exist at a conference in Saudi Arabia. Oh, wait she can't goto to saudi arabia, and even if she could she couldn't drive herself to the conference. Makes you wonder... -------- Dr. Hanna Nasir (Birzeit University) Address of Dr. Hanna Nasir, Birzeit University president, at the rally that took place on Monday March 12, 2001 ... Posted: March 12th, 2001 http://www.birzeit.edu/news/2001/drnasir.html My dear friends, On behalf of BZU, and in honor of the martyrs of the Palestine struggle - those who died on the road towards independence since the conflict began back more than seventy years ago, I salute you for your solidarity with the University, with the population of the villages around Ramallah and al Bireh and for your solidarity with both Ramallah and Bireh that are themselves besieged.
  8. Game isn't *that* complicated. Game is actually fun. Tutorial is available. The game is ACTUALLY DOCUMENTED WELL. ummm.... lates bud.
  9. Boy Israel sure is selling a lot of those paper cups these days... http://www.globes.co.il/serveen/globes/Doc...004310&fid=1725 IsraelÔÇÖs first half exports to Arab countries up 21% Exports to Iraq grew 7% to $2.6 million, and exports to Tunisia soared 159% to $1.4 million...
  10. First Impressions on Multi-Player Server. 1) GameGCQ, my client crashed on me. Don't really care because.... 2) I set up a multiplayer (GUI) Server (SCKID's UCAWA) in *MAYBE* 5 minutes. Totally stable, very very easy configuration. This morning I saw somebody login so I know that they can see the server behind my hardware firewall. I really like the simple TACOPS interface and that it runs in a windows so I can do some other minor things with my PC while the server runs. I would like to see a list of server commands that is accesible from the GUI ( or it exists and i don't know it ). If some people login into the server let me know how it runs ( i set it up for 10 people) on DSL. I use SBC DSL and my uplink speed actually gets pretty high since I am really close to a new repeater and DSLAM router here in the silicon valley. Really nice work on the server. -sckid
  11. Hey Guys, I'm heading off to work, I left a UC AWA Server running on my computer, feel free to burn some bandwidth. Look for: "SCKID UC AWA Server" Enjoy !
  12. Topic on Ex-Muslims... 1) I posted on a serious muslim 2) Nomad posts on a Jew -> Muslim 3) $ilk -> What's wrong with Trinity ? We are universally off topic. See Nomad, the tower of babel at work ! :-) --- Philosophically what is wrong with the trinity ? Simply stated from a jewish perspective our view is that g-d is a single, unitary, one (Echad). The trinity is viewed as some composite one, an amalgamation. Not to mention the whole man as g-d thing is right out the window for us. There is a clear seperation g-d is g-d, man is man. We can emulate our creator and try to be as holy as we can. But ultimately g-d's ways are not our ways and g-d's thoughts are not our thoughts (Job). On the plus side, for non-jews, Christianity seems to have a powerful influence on those who are committed to following it. Again probably a case of "many paths to the same goal". The danger is Jews falling away from their path and goal, in the past Christianity was a negative force that was trying to actively convert Jews. These days there are significant christian movements that see Jews as having a role to play as Jews in bringing about redemption for the world. Because of the change in philosophy a more trusting relationship between christianity and judaism has formed. Theologicaly there maybe problems, but "so what" really. (see the trillion websites on christian zionists) (http://www.ifcj.org/site/News2?abbr=rabbi_&page=NewsArticle&id=6185) Are they sincere ? I had my doubts. Met a bunch in Israel, seemed sincere, had to revise my opinion. Such is life. --- For Nomad, the fact that billions of people believe in 1 G-d may lead them to overlook or see past their racial and ethnic differences. Our purpose is to keep struggling to reach the ideal vision of Isiah. Another view is that ÔÇ£we donÔÇÖt need to complete the task, but neither are we free to desist from it.ÔÇØ Take Care, -sckid a little inspiration: http://www.aish.com/spirituality/prayer/Fi...ough_Prayer.asp
  13. One little trick that I found was to do this: Right Click Desktop->Properties->Advanced->Troubleshoot You should see a radio box called "Enable Write Combining". Click this OFF. I found that with my NVIDIA cards that this enhanced the stability of this game quite a bit. I have seen advice before on "AGP Fast Write" Mode and some others, but not this one. Worked well but does require you to reboot your machine. Hope this helps somebody. Maybe somebody with an ATI card can try this as well.
  14. I wanted to get people's recommendations for high-end hardware to run UC AWA. I've had some tech. problems and SC was kind enough to look in to them. So, instead of whining, I wanna here some recs. for some really good stuff that people have run UC AWA on. 1) Graphics Card - ATI or NVIDIA - Memory (128 or 256) - Bus Interface ( AGP 8X or PCI-E ) 2) Motherboard 3) Processor ( Pentium4 or AMD ) - Model - Speed, etc. 4) Memory 5) Sound Card ( Turtle Beach Montego DDL is just great ! For $70 !) Thanks Everyone, sckid
  15. Is the above a version of "my friend thinks..." (Fallacy: Appeal to Authority) ??? Kinda yeah. But it is the one solid data point I have that is not either: 1) Internet Based (Totally suspicious) 2) Based on brief or passing experience - like being freaked out when trapped in the Arab quarter at midnight in Jerusalem ( strange green lights everywhere ) I am sure that there are MANY people who would disagree with pretty much everything above. But it adds to the discussion :-)
  16. I have to admit to being torn on this subject. Let me admit my prejudices upfront. 1) I have a close relationship with a long-time very devout muslim buddy. We learn together every week and he is a high quality human being. Also his family runs the only Kosher Bakery in town so there are some advantages there too :-) 2) I take the traditional Jewish position with regard to Jewish holy texts and I tend to view other religions from the perspective of Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kook. 3) I take that a priori position that how religious people ACT is a reflection of the principles and practices of a certain religion. This leads to evaluating the general behavior of large groups of people who profess a certain faith. ---- Done --- First, Rabbi Kook, and I agree, states unequivocally that all monothestic religions contain "sparks of holiness" that lead Jew/Non-Jews to faith/belief/emmunah (these are distinct) in the one true G-d. According to MAIMONIDES (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maimonides) Islam is a truly monothestic faith, Christianity has problems due to trinity belief (but irrelevant for now). I will confirm that my own experience with Islam will back up this claim. Positive Points on Islams Side: http://www.shia.org/fundamental.html 1) Monothestic 2) Belief and Action Based - Clear set of moral principles - Clear Creed - Sharia Law provides for implementing Koranic dictates on a communal basis. A justice system and a system of exegesis exists for creating new interpretations of the law for modern situations. - Prayer is a regular daily event - Communal worship & charity 3) Claims of Authenticity are Based on Revealed Truth from G-d. 4) Bases claims and theology on prior established faiths ( especially Judaism, some christianity but not quite as much ) 5) Doesn't deny other faiths but does question their validity in the face of Islamic truths. Negative Points on the side of Islam 1) Religious authority in Islam is NOT clearly delineated like in Judaism or Christianity. This is a HUGE problem since many authorities claim to be the TRUE form of Islam and there is no clear-cut way to weed them out (wahabbism, hamas islam, shite, sunni, salafi, sufi, etc. ). Notice all the fights between competing mullahs. Not to mention the Sunni/Shite death struggle over the authenticity of the Ayatollah (oy vay). 2) "Truth" of Revelation is based on the sole prophecy of one person to a small group of followers. - "Truth" established through the winning of wars - "Truth" established by "Read the Koran it's so beautiful that it will move you to believe it is true". 3) Sharia law conflicts with Torah law on MAJOR issues. - Women's rights, Men's rights, and gender roles in society - Justice System - Capital Punishment - Dietary Laws ( not quite as much disagreement) - Theological Perspective ( Muhammed as prophet, JC as prophet, etc.) 4) Principles of Jihad are TOTALLY at odds with the Christian/Jewish mindset. Concepts of Dar Al-Harb and Dar Al-Islam are completely contrary to our current way of thinking. 5) You don't want to be an infidel or kuffar 6) Taqiyya: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taqiyya --- Now the Islam practiced by my buddy I must say DEVIATES strongly with that of the Wahabbi Saudis and from the Shite Hizbollah. Does he represent the majority of Islamic thinking ? I don't think so, but his understanding and ability to integrate Torah Law ( He sees as DIVINELY GIVEN to the Jews only ) and Islamic Sharia (given to non-Jews) makes for a very unified whole. From his understanding of the Koran he posits that Israel 100% belongs to the religious jews (people of the book) and it is the duty of their muslim brothers (literally, Ishmael is brother to Yitzchak) to ensure that fact. My comment (in jest) to him was that if you don't like Sharia law then Jews do take converts. Sorta, we kinda chase'm off and discourage them, but it's done with their best interests in mind... who wants to have peyos if you don't 'have to' :-) Politically he is Anti-Zionist in the form of zionism as secular political ideology. He will not tolerate Jews who divorce themselves from Judaism, in his mind they produce people like Sharon who are essentially prisioners of the Atheist world view. Um, kuffars are right out. His attitude towards christianity is one of prosetlyize the christians until they see the true light of monotheism. NO VIOLENCE, since a Koranic verse is "There is no compulsion in religion." Something violated throughout Arab history but much less in Persian history. --- I can only sympathize with people who have been traumatized in Islamic countries and have abandoned Islam or faith in G-d for that matter. Heck many Jews abandoned G-d because of Manischewitz ( I'm kidding but only kinda if you've tasted the stuff you know what I mean). What to do... A lot of it is up to Muslims themselves, man has a big role in interpreting divine revelation. Us non-Muslims can at best provide information and friendship to Muslims who are in a position to lead the Muslim communities down a particular ideological path. We do have the duty to defend ourselves both physically and politically from an Islam that would have us "enslaved" to a Islamofacist ideology. From that perspective it is our duty to educate ourselves enough about Islam to get beyond the slogans of "Islam is a religion of peace" and all that. CAIR and all the gang are right out. But we do ourselves a favor in learning something about this religion so that when we do have a serious discussion with a real Muslim we can differentiate between a strain of Islamic thought and some idealized version of Islam ( as advertised ). In General: From my perspective we are all finding our way to Truth and even within the context of the Torah, which according to my understanding, is the blueprint from which reality was constructed there is a vital place for Islam & Christianity in the world. As a whole from my (3) position above I see that Muslims take the "Submission" definition of Islam way too literally. The Islamists are hijacking the faith and the mass layity are "submitting" to the few who have power and a powerful ideology (twisted). Submit to G-d and not to Ayatollah blah blah... Best English Translation: Yusuf Ali http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=books&n=507846 Remember that you need to read the Haddiths as well... http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=glance&s=books Kuffar (Kafir): http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/reference/glos...term.KAFIR.html ---------- Sorry for the babble, you can shoot the messenger now ( really funny if you have some Islamic humor in mind... )
  17. Hey, The above websites in Wolfheart's posting are pure propaganda (Not Wolfheart's fault, just those sites, along with MANY others are designed for this reason). Recommendation is to read only Arabic websites. If you can't read Arabic then do what I do and get your info off of http://www.memri.org For a theoretical treatment of the strategies being employed you need to understand the PLO/Arafat's "strategy of parts". Also, the war is being waged on the information front as well as the borders of Israel. I *HIGHLY* recommend that people return to original source material for their reading. Here is an example which destroys the version of events given in the above quoted websites: --- "Every effort is being made by the Jews to persuade the Arab populace to stay and carry on with their normal lives, to get their shops and businesses open and to be assured that their lives and interests will be safe." -- Haifa District HQ of the British Police, April 26, 1948, (quoted in Battleground by Samuel Katz). --- This is from: 1) A source given AT THE TIME OF THE EVENTS 2) A 3rd Party ( The Brits, who didn't love the Jews by any means )(more credible) 3) A source at the location of the events Any narrative or history of the events at that time are going to have show that the British were either lying or the Mr. Katz fabricated this quote. What is more important is that this quote is actually backed up by other sources. Ex: "The mass evacuation, prompted partly by fear, partly by order of Arab leaders, left the Arab quarter of Haifa a ghost city.... By withdrawing Arab workers their leaders hoped to paralyze Haifa." -- Time Magazine, May 3, 1948, page 25 OR "The Arab civilians panicked and fled ignominiously. Villages were frequently abandoned before they were threatened by the progress of war." -- General John Glubb "Pasha," The London Daily Mail, August 12, 1948 OR It must not be forgotten that the Arab Higher Committee encouraged the refugees flight from their homes in Jaffa, Haifa, and Jerusalem. -- Near East Arabic Broadcasting Station, Cyprus, 4.3.49 OR by the Arabs themselves: "The Arab states which had encouraged the Palestine Arabs to leave their homes temporarily in order to be out of the way of the Arab invasion armies, have failed to keep their promise to help these refugees."  The Jordanian daily newspaper Falastin, Feb. 19, 1949. "The Secretary General of the Arab League, Azzam Pasha, assured the Arab peoples that the occupation of Palestine and of Tel Aviv would be as simple as a military promenade...Brotherly advice was given to the Arabs of Palestine to leave their land, homes, and property to stay temporarily In neighboring fraternal states, lest the guns of invading Arab armies mow them down." --Al Hoda (a New York-based Lebanese daily) June 8, 1951. "Who brought the Palestinians to Lebanon as refugees, suffering now from the malign attitude of newspapers and communal leaders, who have neither honor nor conscience? Who brought them over in dire straits and penniless, after they lost their honor? The Arab states, and Lebanon amongst them, did it." -- The Beirut Muslim weekly Kul-Shay, Aug. 19, 1951. "We will smash the country with our guns and obliterate every place the Jews seek shelter in. The Arabs should conduct their wives and children to safe areas until the fighting has died down." -- Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Said, quoted in Sir An-Nakbah (The Secret Behind the Disaster) by Nimr el-Hawari, Nazareth, 1952 "The Arab Exodus was not caused by the actual battle, but by the exaggerated description spread by the Arab leaders to incite them to fight the Jews. For the flight and fall of the other villages it is our leaders who are responsible because of their dissemination of rumors exaggerating Jewish crimes and describing them as atrocities in order to inflame the Arabs ... By spreading rumors of Jewish atrocities, killings of women and children etc., they instilled fear and terror in the hearts of the Arabs in Palestine, until they fled leaving their homes and properties to the enemy."  The Jordanian daily newspaper Al Urdun, April 9, 1953. "The Arab governments told us: Get out so that we can get in. So we got out, but they did not get in." (Quoting a refugee) -- Al Difaa (Jordan) Sept. 6, 1954. ------------------------------------------------ In other words, change the narrative, change the history, and you can change the future. ------------------------------------------------ From the Israeli Side ( IF YOU TRUST WIKIPEDIA ) http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/David_Ben-Gurion ------------------------------------------------ Has Israel's narrative changed ? When you do a critical analysis of the facts surrounding the creation of Israel by the British and then the U.N., do you find consistency in Israel's position or do you see an invention of facts ? My favorite is the convient forgetting about the Arab-Jews who lost their homes, posessions, and sometimes lives to Arab riots in revenge for 1948. Now some Arab websites blame "Zionist Conspirators", what is scary is not the blood libel but the fact that you can actually see the documented evidence ON VIDEO that it was the Arab countries who expelled their Jewish populations. Exactly what they accuse Israel of doing to them !!! http://info.jpost.com/C003/Supplements/Refugees/12-13.html http://www.pierrerehov.com/exodus.htm Take Care, sckid
  18. Like in Nazi Germany. Were ALL the Germans Nazis ? No. Were they ALL rounding up the Jews ? No. But the reigning ideology and the people in power had enough control to commit horrific acts, you don't need a majority to do these things. Same in the PA controlled areas, kill the ideology, make life VERY hard for armed terrorists, and eventually the people will see themselves through to a different path. But seriously this is a war and we are not in the end game yet.
  19. Besides Military Technology and Intelligence... Science etc. http://www.israel21c.org/bin/en.jsp?enPage=HomePage Wolfheart, don't believe all the propaganda. The ISM/PSM crowd will have you believe that the Israeli's are the new Nazis. As far as the "animals" comments go. We'll there is being an "animal" and acting like an "animal".
  20. nomad since that info you found comes form the wikipedia ... well you draw your own conclusions. Point is that he said something very unpopular with current PLO strategy and was killed for it. If what he said was rubbish and he was an unimportant or minority figure, they wouldn't have killed him. Another reference for similar information. This fact is also clearly expressed in the covenant of Fatah, the ruling faction of the PLO: http://www.fateh.net/e_public/constitution.htm#Goals The Movement's Essential Principles: Article (1) Palestine is part of the Arab World, and the Palestinian people are part of the Arab Nation, and their struggle is part of its struggle. In other words the "palestinians" are not distinct from the Arab Nation. This is important because Fateh is a NATIONALIST movement, just like those NATIONALISTS movements from Europe. ex: Al-Husseini became Grand Mufti in 1921. How he did so is a fascinating story told in "The English Godfather of Palestinian Terrorism" (To The Point, Dec. 16, 2003). He organized Arab rampages killing Jewish settlers throughout the 1920s, formed an alliance with the Nazi Party of Germany in the 1930s, met with Adolf Hitler in Berlin in November 1941 to encourage him to slaughter Jews in Europe so they couldn't escape to settle in Palestine, ordered Arab families to flee Israel upon independence so Arab armies could invade in 1948, founded the Palestine Liberation Organization, mentored his nephew Rahman Abdul Rauf al-Qudwa al-Husseini, and turned the leadership of the PLO over to him. His nephew assumed the alias of Yasser Arafat.
  21. Here is sort of a fun quote that Jag should enjoy: Way back on March 31, 1977, the Dutch newspaper Trouw published an interview with Palestine Liberation Organization executive committee member Zahir Muhsein. Here's what he said: "... Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct "Palestinian people" to oppose Zionism. For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan." ----
  22. From WolfHeart: So I would like you to point me any article that explains the problem(But NOT partially please) from the beginning in YOUR perspective (and in detail),by ANNE BAYEFSKY or someone else. This is personal only and would not be my reply in any academic or political debate. ---> BEGIN PERSONAL STUFF <--- From My Persepective.... interesting... well to answer for myself, personally. That is best summed up by: http://www.mechon-mamre.org/p/pt/pt2309.htm Zechariah 9:1 -> 9:16. The English translation is REALLY awkward and it reads better in Hebrew, also the Stone translation is a bit better. Ekron -> Tel-Aviv BTW ( Same geographic location ) Jebusites -> Refers to Jerusalem ( The location of Jerusalem was the capital city of the Jebusites.) if you focus on verses 6 & 7 you see clearly that the Pals. are differentiated from other Arabs by refering to them by geographic location and using the term Phillistines. The next line indicates that they/he will be like a chief in Judah. This is a good thing and further interpretation (Radak i think) indicates this is peaceful co-habitation. Note that the messianic prophecy follows directly from the outcome of these events. ( indicated that this is a prophecy that has not been fufilled yet). Interesting reading. Personally it seems to indicate to me that the Gaza withdrawl will bring peace in time by giving the Moslems something that they can identify with and create a connection to religious Jews. My Muslim buddies say that some of the Arab religious writers are drawing parallels between the Religious Jews and Muslims and that it is now clear that Secular Zionism is the real enemy. They have read the Zechariah prophecy and are 100% on board with it. This is an early development and a bit apocraphal but we'll see what develops in the media. I will state that we are certainly living in interesting times. You can all think I'm nuts now, but you asked for personal. ---> End of Personal Stuff <--- Shabbat Shalom -sckid
  23. Rev. Majdi Siryani's theology is so messed up its not worth discussing. He needs a referal to any real rabinnic authority. Some understanding from the Jewish perspective would really help him. I'll through my vote in that through wars of aggression the Arabs essentially relinquished any real "legal" claims they had before 1973. Imagine modern Germany going back to German legal rulings of the 1930's and claiming parts of Austria or Poland. Oh, I think we owe the native americans some land as well... Here's a stupid analogy. ( This is a game forum ) Think of starting a war as making a Saving Throw Versus Political/Legal Suicide. If you make the saving throw you get what you want from your victims. If you miss your saving throw then your whole cause collapses like a house of cards from a legal standpoint, and you lose any proclaimed "rights". The Arabs fought over 3 times (48,50's,67,73), they lost ( through G-d, the IDF, their own clown shoes military co-ordination ), Now they are waging a proxy war. All the while screaming about legal claims and the UN. I have to disagree with the Rev. again that peace and justice is *NOT* going to come about through Israel handling issues legally through the UN. READ ANY ANNE BAYEFSKY article and you can understand why Israel doesn't trust the UN in any fashion and rightly so. Israel exists now as a state and it should take strong military, political, and economic steps to protect it's citizens and help provide for their welfare. In other words, make it's interests clear and create policies to suit. As for their neighbors, I think this will cover that: Abba Eban's famous line that the "Arabs never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity."
  24. Don't worry about an Ex. Remember the old army adage: "Just because there is a goalie doesn't mean you can't score ;-) "
