  1. I've seen a surge in the Roster since Ver. 2.0 came out. It's time for more recruiting! <G> Anyone with their own brain is invited to check out the Insurgent cause. Free Earth from her possibly well meaning but definitely blundering Gov't. Write your own rules; be your own soul. Don't fall into the dogma of the UFN and Galcom. Any free thinker out there is welcome. Total renegades are not. Come check us out and see what we are made of. Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix P.S. Choosing Insurgent in no way implies any opinions of the site itself. It just means you want to play that character. You will still be a BC3K gamer and treated fairly on any gaming or technical questions you may have.
  2. At All Costs took Rattler's command literally and streaked towards the Pluto jumpgate on the tail of the Prime fleet assigned to check on Neptune while the other Insurgents formed up around the Guardian. Their help was no longer needed and probably not wanted. Rattler waited long enough to give the Prime and ISS members time to get to Neptune. Wraith was already suspiciously congregated around the Syrius wormhole. Almost as one the main body of Spectre sped towards Pluto and their missing comrade. Chavik knew Akira would not have forgotten the failsafes. But with no one on board the computer might not have the power to knock him out of the system. The only hope lay in finding his ship, boarding her, and taking him physically out of the command chair. The only feasible hope. The other was untried and unproven but it was theorized that an emotion could trigger failsafes also. But it would have to be strong. The system was designed for the heat of battle when emotions ran strong anyway. Extremely strong emotion. If anyone knew how to push Akira's button's it was Rattler. Inputing his thoughts into a datapad he handed it to Miss Siamet with instructions to send immediately. Chavik watched as most of the ships in his tacsan swept around to the bottom of the screen. He looked up into the HUD and watched the jump gate loom larger. They did not have much time. <RP> OFF Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix <G> If DeSylva is going to turn this into a novella all he has to do is put in a bunch of "And Then"'s and "meanwhile"'s. We are even leaving a suitably mysterious cliffhanger for the Insurgents. One other point. The manual says that 3 ships were lost in the Gammulan sector and Galcom is preparing for war. How do we know it's the Gammulans? We learned the IFF Signatures from the other races would be good. As gameplayers we know all about the Gammulans but as roleplayers we don't. This could be the very first mass contact with the Gammulans. Anyway just a point. It doesn't have to be that way. [This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 12-21-98).]
  3. The Phoenix lept into battle once more. System's were almost at 100% and steadily climbing. These Gammulans appeared just too darn aggressive to use any tactics. None that he could see. Unless you counted two against one. The Maelstrom continued to be effective as did the Fakeout. Chavik could not believe that one worked so well. Targeting a large ship and burning past her on the way out of hyperspace caused the Gammulans targeting computers to malfunction. They slammed into the target ship more often than not. Causing damage to both and creating easy pickings. Almost easy. They were damn good flyers on evasive maneuvers. He had a difficult time holding one in his sights for a missile lock. And occasionally several fighters would slam into the Phoenix. He almost enjoyed watching their shields fall to nothing then picking them off with PTA. Three enemy fighters destroyed. In the midst of battle he heard Akira's request for intel. He was sorry he had none to give. He had known this was Rattler's and Akira's project from the start but knew no more. Chavik heard more reports. Intercepted transmissions that had not been encoded in the heat of battle. And one from the Lightspeed. She had burned through the system like a scalded dog and made a run for Sygan. He hoped it was corerct. And then again he hoped not. The repurcussions of his actions would be devastating. Four more enemy fighters gone. Rattler's message brought a sigh of relief. Fleet control had both been easier and harder than he had ever thought. The respect given by the commanders under him had been admirable and steadfast but throwing those same commanders into battle had been the hardest thing he had ever done. They had done well. Only one ship lost. Only one in Jupiter Chavik thought, remembering Akira's group. Multiple attack, shields dropping, target a ship and jump. Throughout the battle Chavik thought of things. Things thought and things wished. Things thought to have happened and things that actually had. Things that were and things that never could be. Just things. "Miss Siamet, Transmit to DeSylva. I owe you a drink." Chavik was glad to have Rattler back and waited on the order to fly home. No; not home. Never home. Home was a memory lost in the blackness of space. Paradise lost. Paradise could not be found again. Yet some hope remained. It would take time. <RP> OFF Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix
  4. <RP>ON Chavik looked at the destruction around him. Special forces had fared well but the Prime fleet had not. Even the raiders had done well. That was surprising. Usually they relied on strength of numbers but it appeared they actually knew how to fight. But so many ships lost, so many humans, that would be devastating for Galcom. There was no more red on his Tacsan. Only friendly green and lots of grey. Disabled ships all. Some were Gammulan and were being towed to Orion HQ for seizure. Antti had been able to dock with Orion when the threat had cleared and freed up her launch bays. He had then sent the Guardian back to Spectre. "Miss Siamet, inform the Guardian's Flight Officer she is to escort the Phoenix. Also send to all ICV's that we are to group at the Lyrius wormhole." Wraith had regrouped at the Neptune jumpoint, Orion was centered around their station and what was left of Prime was milling about. Twenty seven Galactan Class Battlecruisers jumped towards the wormhole. They positioned themselves around it and waited. For what they did not know. Chavik knew. The battle was seemingly over but he had his doubts. He knew the mines that Wraith had laid would not last forever. He knew he needed some word from Rattler. "Miss Siamet, send to First Light. DeSylva, I would like to hear from my commanding officer after you get done with your conference. We have twenty-six commanders who would like to know how our leader is doing. And tell him I have secured a ship for him. Antti is done with the Guardian. She is now his." Chavik listened to other messages being bandied about while they were on the way to the wormhole. They were mostly barter posts. "I need this to repair and I have this to give." Typical military horse trading. But everyone seemed to be getting back together. One in particular caught his attention. Earthcom asking for reinforcements? Just as he finished listening to the message ships began pouring through the wormhole. Gammulan Warships. "Broadband to ALL ships, Fire at WILL!!" Several ships had slipped thru before anyone had time to react. But with so many battlecruisers stationed at the Lyrius wormhole several ships were taken out. They kept coming though. Too many to catch them all. Many only took token damage as they went by. Chavik hoped Prime was ready for this new onslaught. He hoped he was. Gammulans pouring in, Rattler missing, Earthcom wanting reinforcements, from space even, what was Earthcom doing so far from Earth? He knew the had a few space vessels to catch smugglers and such but Neptune? All these thoughts were pushed back in his mind as the Phoenix engaged battle once more. <RP> OFF Ok hope that helps. It seems the main Gammulan force has entered Jupiter just as Earthcom wanted reinforcements. TDF is engaged heavily now and can't send help to Earthcom thus allowing Akira to pull off his plan. Akira has also arrived in time to hear Earthcom's plea for help and goes ahead with his plan. Barging past the remaining Earthcom ships and taking out the base that maufacture the synth Iridium. The Graf Spee is still in Gammulan space raiding like crazy while the main force is away. Anyone have any problems? Let me know and I'll edit accordingly. <G> [This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 12-20-98).]
  5. OK when Michael Killed of Renwick I assumed all was lost at Pluto. Sad one that; he had just come into his own. Perhaps someone can find his escape pod, revive him and let Renwick issue the warning from Pluto since no one else has yet and DeSylva is worried. I've changed my previous post to say heavy attack instead of destroyed. The reason I counted ships is so that I could get a feel for an appropriate threat. Tac's right. 26 Insurgents, Wraith that is still in Jupiter, and ISS ships; 60+ Gammulan is not much of a threat. But I'll let my imagination work with that one. Huge works. <G> We are mopping up in Jupiter now to let Antti get back into Orion. No dockin while hostiles are about. We are repairing and regrouping. Chavik is still hunting down Rattler and trying to figure out what is going on after getting the Insurgent forces dumped in his lap. He hasn't heard a word from him but know's Rattler isn't dead. I think I'm caught up and am waiting on the next person to introduce the next Gammulan wave into Jupiter.
  6. New thread; same reason. First I want to apologise to Ristar as it seemed he was posting as I was last night and my roleplay looked like a refusal of his meeting. My Character is only the temp fleet leader and he doesn't want to screw up. Another avenue as DeSylva suggested would be good. Antti as soon as we clear the last hostile from Jupiter space space you can dock with Orion and get on of your own ships. Then you can send the Guardian back to Spectre fleet. It was Tac who wanted to know where prime was. I was wondering the same thing. Has anyone bothered to count ships? Spectre currently has 32. That takes into account the destroyed Necromancer. The Fictional Guardian would put us back up to 33. Minus the six in Akira's group that is 27 Insurgent BC's in Jupiter space. Doesn't make ya nervous does it? <G> I'm gonna take a wild leap here and suppose that since this is In System Security that Prime could fall under DeSylva for the time being. Dangerous suppposition but it's the only way to write them in. Unless you do it in passing. That's not bad either. Fictional BC's can die real well. So here we are about to get a respite from the battle. The last hostiles are being cleaned up and Antti is able to dock with Orion. Pluto is under heavy attack and Earthcom is in Neptune. The Graf Spee is in Gammulan space and Earthcom is calling for reinforcements. [This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 12-19-98).]
  7. Commander Chavik listened as Miss Siamet reported on Rattler,"I've scanned all recent messages and they report he had boarded At All Costs, now it appears he is meeting with DeSylva on the First Light. Three of the IC's from the Necromancer have reported in and they say he was the last to leave the ship. He had saved IC-1 for himself. The Predicant's crew has boarded the Guardian and the leftover engineers have arrived on the Phoenix. Repairs are commencing. All IC wings are reporting in with success on Maelstrom and clean up. Shuttles have been dispatched for cargo pods with IC escort. IC's are on a rotating repair schedule with various Commanders taking up the slack. GCV vessels seem to be doing the same." "Good, increase the repair schedule but leave enough IC's out there for operations. We still have a few bogies running around. See if you can contact Rattler on the First Light and find out what's going on. Keep scanning those messages and get a grip on things. I need to know what is going on." Chavik turned his attention to the systems check. Repairs were proceeding well. The Fleet had held together, no casualties except for the Necromancer. That wasn't to say everyone was in tip top shape though. Repairs were being conducted at a maddening pace. Necromancers crew being spread around helped. Anyone could tote parts. He started going thru the messages Miss Siamet had piped through his visor. One from Commander Ristar caught his eye. A Meeting? I don't think so, he thought, not when half the fleet thinks they have lost their leader. And something just didn't seem right. Jupiter was the front door to Earth on this side of the sytem true enough but it was also the door home. We'll just sit tight right here. Guarding the front door and our way out. "Message to ICV fleet Miss Siamet; narrow band but don't encode. "We have located Insurgent One. He escaped to At All Costs and is currently enroute to the First Light. Nothing else is known. The last transmission transfered fleet command to me. Updates as Info allows." "Repeat that to Akira, double encode, compress, and burst; and add "Akira, proceed as previously outlined. Free reign." Send To Desylva, "Request resupply from Galcom HQ, Starpath, and any other available supply depots. And find out what the Empirians and Vesperons are doing. Help would be a blessing. And Don't let the Empirians claim economics restraints on you." Chavik hoped for the best. It was time to clean up and see what else was in the pot. <RP>OFF Commander Chavik Temp Fleet Leader Spectre ICV TDV Phoenix "We Shall Arise From The Ashes" OK I have unceremoniously closed the battle at Jupiter in preparation for the next wave. 8. "Has the Guardian come into position yet?" Chavik asked, concentrating on the target list. "Yes sir, almost," replied Mr. King. "Good Miss Siamet, transmit that they are to make room for Antti's personnel. Evac them into shuttles so that they won't waste time with the transporter. Be sure to bring the System and flight engineers here. We are short since At All Costs required our assistance. Anyone wishing to stay may do so but not that they crowd them. Antti has a good crew and he's used to them. Request other ships make room for the rest." "Message from the Necromancer sir," reported Miss Siamet. "Speakers," said Chavik. "Chavik, take care of the fleet." "What?!? Put the necromancer in the CVD now. See where he's headed." The sight chilled him. While the small image appeared whole, the indicators told another story. No Shields, no armor, and only 2% integrity. Her target a Gammulan capitol ship. Sight followed thought as Chavik pulled up Tacops in his VR visor. Quickly zooming to the Necromancer he watched and breathed a sigh of relief as the support ships evacuated. Then he gasped it back in as she plowed into the central cap ship in a group. The blast took them all out. The Necromancer had lived up to it's name and had performed magic in her death. "Send out more evac orders for the Necromancer's support ships. Anybody able to take them holler out. I want all ICV IC's to break off and form up. Seven per squad, that will leave enough left over for repairs. Each Squad will choose a jump point for manuever Maelstrom. Target the Stormcarriers and take them out. One at a time. BC's will target other caps. Stay clear of the GCV's unless asked for assistance or a clear opportunity arises. We don't want to step on anyone's toes but maybe they'll get the hint. Mr. King target Orion ODS and bring us in, perhaps it will take out a few also." Chavik watched as the Maelstrom manuever took effect. One whole side of the battle seemed to clear of friendly ships. The Gammulans were confused and only a few fighters decided to follow but they were to late. By the time they chased the IC's down they had recharged engines and the net drew closed like a star going nova. With the firepower of over a hundred interceptors the Stormcarrier did not stand a chance. Support interceptors did not have time nor resources to defend. By the time support ships jumped in the Maelstrom had expanded to suck up another ship. "Miss Siamet, please transmit this to all ships. The Maelstrom is working. The odds are shifting more in our favor. Two more runs than back to standard tactics with the Delta Vee flight pattern. Time to mop up." "Send now." Chavik leaned back in his chair and rubbed his eyes. How long had they been going at this? The stray thought was picked up by the VR and he groaned as a clock came into view. No time to get careless he thought. "Mother, systems check please." He almost groaned again at the status of the Phoenix. Several systems were at the point of collapse. But hearteningly many were also still green. He hoped his System engineers would arrive soon to take the load off his crew. "One more message: DeSylva how goes it with you? Commander Chavik Temp Fleet Leader Spectre ICV TDV Phoenix "We Shall Arise From The Ashes" Send now." <RP> OFF
  9. "Necromancer leaving system followed by the rest of Spectre," reported Mr. King. "What?" Replay those last messages Miss Siamet. Listening again even more carefully Chavik cursed under his breath. "We got our invite a tad late it seems. Mr. King, Mr. Brom, target the Necromancer and follow her." "She's gone sir." "Mr. Harrison is that course still laid in for Jupiter? Good. Mr. Brom, best speed. Miss Siamet put the taclink of probe-02 on the HUD please." They all watched a battle well in progress. The numbers of ships so great the sensor readouts were undecipherable. Simply a splotch of friendly green in a sea of red. "Ok people time to help. Return to main viewer." The main viewer returned just in time to see the Syrian wormhole looming ahead. The transition took less time than a thought yet longer than forever. "Ships sir," reported Mr. King. "Who's?" "I don't know sir but they are transmitting the TDF code. IFF shows green." "Remain on course. Ratttler couldn't have gained that much time. Late picking up Tringad, late delivering him, and now this. Rattler's gonna have my hide." As they enered the last jump into Jupiter space Chavik again ordered Tacops. "Rattler has the Necromancer in a Delta Vee and the Valentine and Sagan were engaged alongside the Predicant. But not close enough or too late. They watched as the Predicant exploded, first the engines blew and then took the reactor core with it. Pieces of shrapnel, more like small meteors, blew out in a tremendous blast sphere. The only thing good that was that it toook out several smaller fighters with it. But not the evac shuttles he noticed. "We've been targeted," said Mr. King. "Are our jump engines up yet? Transfer targeting to me for a moment," said Chavik, apparently lost in thought. A plan formed in Chavik's mind. "Miss Siamet, send a message to the Guardian. Tell her Flight officer I need her here ASAP." "Fifteen small fighters within weapons range sir." "Are they jump capable yet?" "Sir?" "Just keep those shields up, I don't care if you have to sit on the controls keep raising shileds. And tell me when they are jump capable," said Chavik. "Yes sir, in 5,4,3,2, now sir." The Phoenix's shield had held, barely. The jump gave them time to recharge a little. Chavik hoped he was right in his guess. Antti was trying to sneak past a Firestorm but it was coming about. They streaked towards the Firestorm and came out a couple of clicks in front of it. The Phoenix afterburned past it and cut her engines. They swung about and began firing at the Firestorm. The Fighters that had targeted him had been as dogged as he had hoped. They all of them slammed into the Firestorm's shields, crippling most and taking out four of them altogether. The Firestorm had not faired well in the exchange either. Her shields mostly gone the Phoenix was able to cut her down shortly. IOD at 20% for rapid firing and PTA's at 30%. "Now Launch IC's and tell them to defend those shuttles. Antti has no where to go." The Phoenix's PTA's took out several more of the damaged fighters. There were only three left. "Now target those last three and send a Vagrant up their tailpipes." That done Chavik concentrated on Antti's shuttles. He had managed to clear a good bit of space around them and others were beginning to notice. Chavik continued to escort Antti's shuttles while his IC's defended them. The few fighters that appeared were taken out quickly. Chavik being late had one advantage; he and his resources were fresh. Chavik had been lost in the skirmish and wass surprised to hear Miss Siamet announce,"The Guardian has arrived." "Good tell them to get over here and evac these shuttles. Commander Antti Junkarri will be her commanding officer if he will have her. He won't be surprised this time and I am sure he has a small grudge. He'll do well with her. We may even get her back in one piece. Copy that to Antti's shuttle to please. Tell him Orion the Hunter has a new bow." "Yes sir, message sent." <RP> OFF Commander Chavik TDF Phoenix Well that brings me in with one skirmish under my belt. I went into the game and scanned tacops so everyone could get a feel for where they are. http://members.aol.com/clind10107/Jupiter.html . Especially those that haven't played yet. They are the exact same map just rotated so the perspectives may be a bit skewed. Hope they help.
  10. Chavik had entered Sygan space and sent his message to Rattler and sent his message only to hear several more reported by Miss Siamet. He asked her to pipe them thru and was happy to hear DeSylva's reply. Before he could send again he heard another from the Predicant. "Miss Siamet, please initiate contact with the probe we sent to Jupiter and see if it is still active, if so pipe it though Tacops. Mr. King please target Sygan station and take us in. It's time we had a talk with Rattler." "More messages sir." "Put them through my visor," said Chavik. Chavik listened carfully to the barrage of incoming messages. "Ok, Miss Siamet get the transponder code to Mr. Cooper and install those new codes. On everything. Mines, missiles, shuttles, interceptors, everything. If it can leave this ship I want that code on it. We will wait for Rattler's command to transfer. Mr. Brom are we at Sygan yet?" "Aye sir." "Sir the Necromancer is leaving system," reported Mr. King. Looks like we've been invited to a war." <RP> OFF Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix

  13. "Commander, we have broad band transmissions coming in from almost every known Terran military vessel. Would you like me to pipe them through?" "No Miss Siamet, run a filter and send the ones from Fleet leaders through my VR console," Chavik said. Listening intently he tried to get everything straight. Thinking things through carefully he was not surprised when Mr. King reported," GCV Othello in system." "Fine then, target her instead and Mr. Brom; initiate jump to her and drop Tringad off as soon as we are in range. Mr. Harrison as soon as that shuttle is dropped target the Polaris 2 jumpgate and plot a course to Sygan. We have been recalled." In lieu of pacing Chavik sent his command chair into a frenzy looking over his officer's shoulders. However once the jump started he returned it to the central position. He watched as Tringad's shuttle (The Guardian's shuttle, he thought) was practically laid on the Othello's nose. Blazing by with weapons hot he hoped they would concentrate on the shuttle. Entering Polaris 2 Mr. Harrison immediately plotted course for Sygan. The moments spent while the Hyperdrve engines recharged were tense ones as Chavik hoped they would catch up to the Nevermore and be able to provide assistance escorting At All Costs. Once plotted the Phoenix swung towards the jump gate and started accelerating. "Mr. Cooper, full power to the engines please, we need best possible speed." 14. Chavik was leaning back in his office chair when over the Comm System he heard, "Commander Chavik, please report to the bridge immediately. Commander Chavik, please report to the bridge." Knowing it must be extremely important for him to be ordered to his own bridge Chavik made all haste. At least it had better be important, he thought glumly. Arriving on the bridge he was assualted by Mr. King, "Sir, the Nevermore has powered weapons." "What? Get Akira on the horn now! This mission was not to be aggressive and..." "Communication from the Nevermore sir. Marked urgent," Miss Siamet broke in. "Speakers!" Chavik demanded. As Chavik listened to the Nevermore's transmission his spirits fell. "Well that explains his actions; I knew Akira would not break objectives without good cause. Ok people, time to get cracking. Miss Brasfield, run a check on all support ships; once ready send some flight engineers to At All Costs to assist. Mr. Cooper, initiate Mother's systems check. Mr. King, check on those anomalies Akira is reporting and arm the weapons. Main IOD and Missiles only, leave the PTA off. Mr. Brom, get a tractor lock on Tringad's shuttle again, we don't need him wandering off. Miss Siamet leave all channels open and listen for any more communications and please transmit to AT All Costs that our engineers are to work overtime getting her jump capable. Also, please inform the First Light of the current situation. Has everyone got their orders straight?" A chorus of "Ayes" resounded around the bridge and the comm system from those officers not present. Finished with giving orders Chavik finally settled in to his command chair. No sooner had he settled it into a central position than Miss Siamet said,"Commander, we have a tranmission from the Necromancer and one from the shuttle." "Put Rattler's transmission over the bridge and pipe Tringad's thru my visor." "Aye sir," replied Miss Siamet. Tringad's transmission took only a second and then the whole bridge crew listened to Rattler's. "Ok people, our little party has been crashed. Everyone knows what to do. Mr. Brom, target the First Light and jump. As soon as we are in range drop Tringad's shuttle. I don't care if she glides into the docking bay; use your own discretion. Then withdraw per orders. Miss Siamet advise the First Light of our actions." "Yes sir," they replied. "Sir, more transmissions. from the Necromancer again and the Nevermore," said Miss Siamet. "Ok pipe them through." The bridge crew again listened to the incoming messages and the mood grew even more somber. "People, not only has our party been crashed it is about to turn into a riot it seems. Mr. Brom, begin jump and as soon as Tringad is safely in range of the First Light target the Polaris 2 jumpgate. Maintain contact with the Nevermore and At All Costs. Especially to Alun Tringad for wanting to get pulled out and being vocal about it. Maybe he deserves the credit. NAH. You ALL do. Thanks again. 15. <RP> ON ***Begin Transmision*** Due to a small matter with raiders we were a little late in picking up Tringad. We arrived in Polaris 1 to find the GCV First Light, the GCV Shogun, the GCV Black Falcon, the ICV Nevermore, and a badly damaged ICV At All Costs already in system. However DeSylva seems to have kept his word. The system is quiet with GCV ships positioned at the jumpgate to Polaris 2 while we are positioned towards Lanix V. I must admit it was a shock to find the Black Falcon in system, it must have been a tense moment for Commander Akira due to my tardiness. It was even more of a shock to find At All Costs in system, badly damaged at that. We have sent systems engineers to At All Costs to assist in repairs. Long range probes indicate a mass of ISS ships at Jupiter while the normal complement of Orion ships appear to be amassing at Saturn. Confusing to say the least. They seem to be preparing for a full scale invasion. Won't they be surprised when they find out that we set out to do exactly what I said I would do? Thank you for your support in this Commander Rattler. The situation appears to be under control. ***End Transmission*** "Miss Siamet, please make sure that gets transmitted to Rattler and please send a copy to the Nevermore. Akira more than anyone needs constant updates on what we are doing." "Yes sir," replied the Pheonix's comm officer. "Good, I think I will go to my office for a little bit to digest all this." Leaving the command chair and walking towards his office Chavik hoped beyond hope that this would be taken for no more than the simple return of one operative that it was. 16. <RP> "Mr. King, is that Tringad's shuttle?" "Yes sir it is," replied King, Phoenix's Tactical officer. "Good; Miss Siamet open a channel. Mr. Tringad, I'm sorry I'm late but we had a small matter to take care of with some raiders. Everyone is expecting us I'm sure. Shall we get started? Mr. Harrison, please plot a course to Polaris," said Chavik. "Commander, The shuttle has targeted us and is beginning to follow," said Mr King. "Good, proceed to Polaris then. And Alun? Would you please tell me where you left the Guardian. She was one of the newer ships we had. I do hope she is in one piece." The Phoenix's bulk came about and oriented on the jump gate. The hyperdrive engines had finished recharging and she made the first hop to the jumpgate folowed by Alun Tringad in his stolen shuttle. They arrived in Polaris to find the ICV Nevermore and the GCV First Light already in the system. "Miss Siamet, please contact the First Light and tell them we have Tringad. Open a channel to the Nevermore. Commander Akira, thanks for coming along. I see you made it safely. Shall we get this over with? Tringad has already targeted the First Light and is on his way. It shouldn't take too long. And is that At All Costs over there? Does she need assistance?" Opening an internal channel Chavik sent a message to his chief engineer Joseph Cooper in the engineering section. "Mr. Cooper, see about getting some systems engineers on a shuttle and providing assistance to At All Costs. Now we just have to wait on word from the First Light. End Transmisions." <RP> off Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix
  17. <RP> ON Commander Akira, Thank you for volunteering to be my wingman. I had my doubts that I would be allowed to go alone escorting a known spy and wind up in a situation where the odds were two to one. Trust begets trust but being naive is silly. Thank you again. Now we just have to get Tringad's coordinates relayed to us so we pick him up and escort him out. I do beleive in what I am doing. And I beleive I know what I am doing. Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix [This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 12-10-98).]
  18. <RP> ON DeSylva, It's late over here on Trenis so I'm not at my best but you are arguing in the same circles you just recently derided. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Unless it's the human reaction. Those reactions often explode with far more energy than the sum of the parts. Things escalate beyond control as we have so often seen. We are at this point now. Calling us criminals, raiders, murderers, and terrorists only adds fuel to the flames. But going back to the reaction formula I give you my word I will try to escort Tringad to you. If I am able to begin I will finish it. Hopefully my action will produce a like reaction from you. Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix <RP> OFF If we keep going like this we can have this wrapped up shortly. But I think we would get into just a little trouble if we ruined the game. LOL
  19. <RP> ON Mr. DeSylva, What is this I'm hearing from you? What did you say earlier? Did I hear you correctly? I ask so many times because I simply can't believe it. Was it sympathy? Perhaps to strong a word and one perhaps that would get you into trouble. Maybe understanding would bea better word. Have we finally talked longe enough or shouted loud enough to give some glimmer of what we are trying to do? Of what we have wanted to do for so long? If you truly attempt what you are saying you will. That you will desuade Galcom from becoming a mirror image of Earthcom. Or at least the terran part of it. Filled to bursting with longtime Earthcom officers I doubt this will be an easy task. For you to say that we share ideals was a shock. For you to say that we fight for them the wrong way, well when the bully pushes you too many times sometimes you have to push back. For you to say that we started it, well I'll just leave that hat on the rack this time. I will say I'm reading things just a little differently. Then you say we have gained so much from our alliance. It cost Earth dearly to get where she is and is still costing her. I don't think Earth has gotten back nearly so much as she has given. And we are the only ones who target on sight? I think not. I know not. I have been targeted so many times I can no longer count them. You were doing well, please do not pretend that Galcom is the bastion of all that is good in the universe and only defends herself. One man's defensive strike is another man's attack. It does go both ways. I will not lay the blame entirely at Galcom's door; I have seen my share of attacks. We do want the ideals we say we do. You seem to have begun understanding that. Perhaps. Perhaps just a small part of it. I do thank you and respect you for thinking for yourself. Maybe we could meet at Cavalier one day. I doubt I could get that far into the Sol system. Perhaps Polaris. I could park the Phoenix somewhere and shuttle in. Or better yet, with Rattler's permission I will escort Alun Tringad to you. Again a neutral planet or moon. We certainly wouldn't want him getting ambushed by pirates or attacked by raiders. A show of trust, we could be certain he was delivered safely, and ensure there would be no oppurtunity to blame us should something go wrong. You praise us albeit in a small way then turn back and call us terrorists. But some of your words have the ring of truth in them. Perhaps a small talk would give us both some understanding. Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix <RP> OFF [This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 12-10-98).]
  20. The closest thing to what you are proposing is a Syrion. Syrion race and Raider caste. The Syrion race is not naturally aggresive but the Raider caste may change this. Whatever you do stick with the game. <RP> ON However that's terrible. You rank right up there with the Gammulans and should you remain committed to your course of action I know that I have already placed you on my "Targets Of Opportunity" list. The total annihilation of planets and civilizations is something not even we Insurgents do. We do nothing so gross and abhorrent. Military targets are one thing but innocent civilians are quite another matter. <RP> OFF LOL you did post in a roleplaying thread. That was simply a fun way of saying I don't think that will fly. Given the Race/Caste system you may pull it off for a while but I agree with DeSylva in saying that should you decide to do this in Multiplay you will be quickly hunted down. Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix [This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 12-08-98).]
  21. My timeline is on my website. Well the Insurgent part of the site at least. <G> But I have also mailed it to you so I'm covered on both ends. Anyone else? Khir'san? You seem to have quite a history. And Wolf. I think you would have one too. I know Alun will. The list goes on. (My effort to bring this thread back up to the spotlight.) Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix
  22. <RP> ON Mr. DeSylva, You seem to have forgotten our earlier squabble and appear to be giving grudging respect. I will certainly take that as it is better than nothing and it will allow our talks to continue. Now please beleive me when I say I am writing this calmly. I am. But aren't you the pot calling the kettle black? You speak of our crimes of the past 50 years. We speak of yours for the past several hundred. It began with Earthcom. Or at least the operative branch. Kidnapping and brutality. You speak of our crimes and these are not? Then our expulsion from the government itself. This was not a crime in and of itself but the events leading up to it certainly were. But what it was was a cover up. Poorly orchestrated and now part of the histories. A faux pas that not even the historians could ignore. We had no trouble getting elected until the UFN booted us out. Simply for being dissidents. We were changing the face of government but the good ol' boy upper echelon did not like it. Scared of being peacefully ousted they chose the path they did. Declaring us outlaws finally to cover up what they had done. We have the UFN and Earthcom dead to rights yet you still deny it. You of all people knows what is like to run from Galcom. It isn't a lot of fun is it? We have taken steps to ensure that any questionable member is placed under the command of an honorable commander. We will not tolerate another incident like the one at Pluto. That one slipped thru the former command structure and I have been lobbying hard for his removal. I despise him almost as much as you do I believe. Akira's points were not that unreasonable. They were not demands yet offerings. Peace means peace and a joint effort means a jointeffort. We could supply those minerals necessary to manufacture our allotment of BC's. But as you denied all those points it yet again proves, as Rattler said, that you are out for yourselves. So far as needing us to help and discounting us as a drop in the bucket, that dosesn't wash either. We have some good commanders here and you know it. Perhaps I am naive but I just can't believe our actions justify your hatred. War is war after all. To claim we are committing terroist acts to justify your counter attacks is ludicrous. And Alun. The offer of a joint training effort was not because we lack instructors or resources. Having fought against our own style of ship, we know the weak spots. We could teach you this. We could teach you quite a lot of tricks. But go ahead and ignore offers of help. It will be interesting to see whom you target first. This could be worked out but the UFN and her representatives will not see. Then again Galcom commanders are not diplomats and should not pretend to be. Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix
  23. oops, it did. [This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 12-05-98).]
  24. OK. Everything is fine in the real world. The roleplay world is not however. {<RP>on} We still have misguided commanders running around Claiming we are nothing more than terrorists and murderers. I don't know how many times we have to say we are not until you believe us. But that is all part of the propaganda is it not? But if we are terrorists, where are the nukes? We could decimate Earth yet we do not. We want her clean and populated when we return. Military targets are part of war. If you claim we are murderers because we acquire military vessels then so are you. Your aim seems to be to crush us into nothing. We just want you disbanded. If not that than severe restrictions placed on Earthcom activities so that the mass harrassments and arrests cannot continue. Pirates rob and plunder. Military targets do not fall into this category. The spoils of war are just that. If you abandon equipment we are free to use it. If you threw it away you must not want it any longer. So tell us again that we are thieves, terrorists, pirates, and raiders. We will prove you wrong every time, as we have proven you wrong in so many other things. Firesword. Well said. Thank you for joining us and pitching in. Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix <RP> OFF Maybe that will stir the pot some. <G> Thanks for the newbie hints Akira. Here is mine. Go into preferences and reset them to show a longer time frame. You can read the other threads that have dropped off your page. Also there is an icon that looks like a mail slot with a letter sticking out. Click that. CIC leaves messages there too. He suggested 100 days.
  25. Bil, you need to learn patience. At reply 34 you started hollering for a new thread. At reply 52 you practically demanded it. I was going to get aroundto it today; but I kept thinking About DeSylva's directives and how to reiterate them without saying "OK all you MARINES, make sure you got your boots on the correct foot and your supporter on the right way!". That will suffice though. Roleplay is Roleplay but we can tell when it goes over the top. We (I remember when on the old forum) have seen it. Roleplay is Roleplay but it is still you typing in the words. Be very careful or give one heck of a supporting argument. Even then be careful. Little did I know that 10 or so small replies would creep in throwing the reply count of this thread bigger than it had ever been before. And some of those were with pics. I am absolutely not complaining about pics. They are allowed.(Within the bounds Derek set long ago. None bigger than you have already seen.) They are welcome. They eat up loading time. Understand this. I was waiting for the apologies to settle down before I started a new thread. So that I could emphasize DeSylva's warnings about roleplay. As this is only the reply in this thread (I hope) maybe this warning will be seen. And you still haven't done Rattler right. Now as far as you wanting to continue where we left off, where did we leave off? People ganging up on Khir'san? HAH!!! There were two posts from Rattler after that and one from myself. Maybe so but <RP> It always takes several individuals to argue down one Fervent supporter no matter how disillusined he is.(hope ya don't mind Khir'san feel free to use this in a roleplay thread. )<RP> OFF. I'm still waiting on a reply to my reply. Or was my arguement too sound? I'm sure RAttler is waiting on a reply to his reply. So having babbled all that let the roleplaying continue. All are friends. Let the roleplaying continue. Within Bounds. ------------------ Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix "We Shall Arise From The Ashes" [This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 12-05-98).]
