R-4: 6% operational: charge 25%. R-5 lurched slowly into motion and began repairing what it could. Soon a Galcom droid was fit enough to help. McKendrick was just about to take the turbo shaft down to the shuttle bay and tow the Chikuma when he heard Neena's voice over the commlink and received new instructions. "Ma'am?" he replied. "You heard me." "Yes Ma'am." ÔÇ£I got a special job for you. How close are you to engineering?ÔÇØ ÔÇ£Funny you should ask that, sir. IÔÇÖm practically there already. I was ÔÇôÔÇ£ ÔÇ£No time.ÔÇØ Neena said. The instructions were simple. Destroy the computer core. He went into engineering and tried with his limited ability as a flight engineer to override the systems and then tried with Rod's help to overrride them. Equinox kept coming up at every juncture. McKendrick didn't know what Eqinox meant but he knew it was keeping him from the core. All of Rod's efforts at hacking into the core failed. At this point he had had enough. Even his rifle failed to penetrate the shields and Titanium armor surrounding the core. McKendrick wanted to thoew a fit. He was tired of this. Tired of almost getting killed, tired of dragging around to survive. . This round would be different. He left Rod in control of engineering and went down to the shuttle bay .He almost passed out as three functional ATV's rounded on him. The droids had done an amazing job of repairing themselves. A few, so very few, he thought, were again ready for combat per his last intstructions. Even those that were not mobile were still repairing what they could. "Whoa guys it''s me. " "C,mon now. it's me. Anyone know how to take out the computer core?" "No one? Ok that ATA missle is a good candidate. Let's go!" Within minutes the few remaining droids had hauled an ATA missille to the Engineering sectioon. While the warhead was prevented from from exploding the physical impact on the computer core was devastaing. Alarms began blaring. {RP} OFF Charles/Chavik/McKendrick
  2. Hehe Blades I had forgotten you said that but I was about to say the same thing. Clean it up and present it. That would be too cool. ------------------ Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix "We Shall Arise From The Ashes" Official BC3K Tester
  3. It's you, definitely you DeSylva. I said you did have a sig and Blades may want to emulate that. ------------------ Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix "We Shall Arise From The Ashes" Official BC3K Tester
  4. Blades, DeSylva had a good idea on his sig. He always posted (and still does) his site's address in his sig. That may help since you Fleet leader and all. The good thing is you only have to do it once then just check a box. Other's do it. Perhaps it would be a boon to you. ------------------ Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix "We Shall Arise From The Ashes" Official BC3K Tester
  5. [rp] narrative McKendrick was never so glad to see the IC bay as he was at that moment. Not only hot, tired, hungry, and sweaty, now his knees were rubbed raw from crawling in the service tunnel. Now they were going to split up. He told Neena he would make his way back down to the the shuttle bay and try to override the launch codes so they might have secure passage if everything fell apart. She agreed but the look in her eyes almost said she didn't expect to make it that far. McKendrick ordered Rod and the Galcom droid with him and left Neena with Rod's cousin. It might come in handy. The pilots went out first followed my Neena, Sgt. Diamond, the Doc, and the others. He took a deep breath and slowly made his way towards the rear of the ship once again. He wondered at the lack of the other crew but figured they had been captured. That seemed odd but at least those goons were massed in the area Neena and the others were headed. Well, best not get too cocky he thought. Sure enough as soon as he thought it he heard boots. He peered around the corner and saw a lone man clad in black. Here goes nothing he thought. He sent the Galcom droid around the corner and watched as it trundled down the hall. The man in black twirled with his rifle at the ready but dropped it when he saw the droid. "What have we here?" he asked. "You got this," said McKendrick as he stepped around the corner and fire. The man could only stare and fumble for his rifle as McKendrick fired. He walked up to the corpse and took his rifle. Hope I don't see any more of these guys. I don't know if that gambit will work again or not. It did and surprisingly well. Once again McKendrick dropped one of the goons. How many more times he didn't know. He felt he was pushing the law of averages to the breaking point. And he still had a good ways to go. 6. You may have to Jump in that pilots seat yourslf Mojo. I'm a bit vague on the specifics but I believe the IC copilot actually has access to more systems than the pilot. As It should be. The copilot watches your back and keeps the thing flying while the pilot does the dirty work. Correct? I'm looking forward to this chapter. Charles/Chavik/McKendrick

  9. Be sure to start a new game. Old saved games can bring their problems with them. Try a different save point. Earlier perhaps then go past that spot. Try Free Flight for a while and see what happens. Seems odd that particular point would be causing you grief. Wait for RAM to come down and get more. 11. I could have sworn there were two ATV's left. Forgive me. They are dead any way. [RP] McKendrick really couldn't believe they still had a chance. Or that they were trying this at all. He would have much rather preferred the safety of a shuttle. But he knew that was wrong as well. He had been in the shuttle when those drones had attacked. He stopped crawling for a moment and shuddered. He heard Rod grind to a halt behind him. He had taken precaution in the last pause. He had replaced Rod's batteries and those of a couple other droids. The two in the ATV's had been first priority. Rod had been next. One other of Rod's type was fully operational. One Galcom droid had not faired too badly. Two were operational but barely as were two like Rod. Perhaps they could be of some use later. Maybe they could play dead and then help each other. McKendrick had told Rod to relay those messages. It wasn't an ace in the hole he believed but perhaps it was three of a kind or a baby straight. McKendrick almost laughed. No serious player allowed you to play a baby straight. McKendrick's mechanical army had done well but were no match for those miniature flying turrets. And if they had gotten away without destroying them that meant they were still around. They had been tough the first time and tougher the second. He couldn't imagine what they would have been like the last time had they been there to face them. He thought about strapping some laser rifle to their arms but it would have taken too long to rig up a firing mechanism. Three droids left out of, what had it been? Almost sixteen. Four that might possibly survive the next attack. McKendrick rather doubted that as he heard the explosions echo through the crawl space. Then again they had been ignored as non-threats the last time. In a rather odd lull in firing he could have sworn he heard the Doc's hypo sprays go off. McKendrick could only hope. [/RP] Charles/Chavik/McKendrick
  12. The forum time is about an hour ahead of me. Forgive me tonight. I'll have plenty of time tomorrow whilst you... Thanks for the out. I was dead set on taking them all out. Charles
  13. Countdown T-5 hours 25 minutes McKendrick watched as Mr. Polovoski turned and entered one of the ATV's with Reynolds. He picked up one of the drones and looked at it. Nasty bugger he thought as he threw it back down. He had never seen anything like them before. He was glad they were gone though. he wen t around the shuttle bay checking on the droids. The four in the ATV's had survived but those on the floor had not faired so well. Three of the ships droids were toast. Those were the ones that had the misfortune to aim the drone's lasers at themselves while trying to defend the ATV's. A few simply had missing parts and were easily replaced with parts from the destroyed units. Two of Rod's counterparts were destroyed as well. The floor of the shuttle bay now looked like a techno junkyard with droids, droid parts, and drones littering the area. Countdown T-5 hours 14 minutes He had nearly made it back to his position when he heard heard Mr. Polovoski shout "Combat stations!" He scrabbled back to his position wondering how many of the things they had. Then he heard them. "Incoming!" he yelled and got his rifle ready. He and Allen began firing as soon as they came through the door. They were much quicker this time around and simply avoided the fire. The ATV's began firing as well and got a few but they grouped up and destroyed ATV 3 with a massive volley of fire. They then split up and began firing at individual targets. They avoided the droids completey this time rendering them useless. The upside was that since they were apparently no longer a threat they were being ignored. It went downhill from there though. A medic died. McKendrick did have the satisfaction of destroying the drone who had done it. It had stopped to aim and he shot it while it was concentrating. Not before a life was lost though. Some of the drones turned on him and it took a rapid fire burst from his rifle to disperse them. Luckily osmeone noticed and began shooting at them from behind. They got a couple more this way but it was taking much too long. They were definitely acting differently this time. Worse still, Reynolds tried to make a break for one of the shuttles only to be cut down. Then amazingly the drones started dropping rapidly. McKendrick tried to look around to see who had gotten so good so suddenly but he was having a time of it fighting off the drones. He thought he heard someone call for a medic but the voice was unfamiliar. A couple minutes later Sgt. Diamond came by and told him to make his way to the shuttle. He was surprised to see him but began a tactical retreat back to SC-1. They all amde it to the shuttle with the exception of the dead medic and Mr. Polovoski. McKendrick wondered if she wwere dead as well. Sgt. Diamond overrode the command codes and got the shields up but they immediately began dropping. This is it, he thought, we're all dead now. Sgt. Diamond started screaming something and the drones dropped. McKendrick was stunned. At Sgt. Diamonds orders they went outside and started gathering power supplies. A couple more droids had gone down in the crossfire. They started jacking into the shuttle's systems. McKendrick kept an ear out for more of the nasty little buggers as he worked though. Countdown T- 5 hours [/rp] What were we working on Ron? Now I'm confused. Use my character as needed. Blades, my ace in the hole was using the shuttles tractor beam against the drones. Since Sgt. Diamond has so nicely gotten it working there's an option. If you want to control the action in the final part of the confrontation go ahead and use me as you will. We still have a missile or so left as well. The droids could relay a message to the IC pilots if you want to use them. At this point i am ready for you to take control. I'm about out of ideas. Charles/Chavik/McKendrick
  14. He started some crud yet still somehow managed to get a couple of roleplaying things approved. The UCV designation for an undesignated/unregistered ship's name and the use of Merc in a sig. Not content with that he pushed more till he got banned. He then re-registered under another name and pretended to be an innocent newbie. He did ok for a while till he got caught.
  15. Heh I had thought of accidentily being in the shuttles when all this went on but I reread your post and saw you put us in position. Ah well. There it is. What? 8 or 9 people. Twelve Galcom droids and "my" six. Four manning ATV's. Time to start getting creative. Hopefully I ain't dead yet. Charles
  16. McKendrick had gotten tired of simply standing there. He decided he would see what was going on. "Mr. Polovoski, have you made contacts with the IC pilots yet?" He had just finished the question when they heard it. They turned as one and took positions behind the drones. They looked towards the entrance of the shuttle bay to see a swarm of "things" come around the corner. They hesitated a second as they assessed the situation. Luckily the droids manning the ATV's were faster. Anything not already here was a target. McKendrick had cleared all safeties when Neena informed him no one else would be arriving. Four of the things dropped immediately under ATV laser fire. Three more followed while the rest sensed danger and started taking evasive maneuvers. The one that was already targeted escaped bust just barely; it got singed and looked none to steady but it was still operational. Sensing the threat they converged on the ATV's. Plasma fired spewed off the shields. They held and the things changed tactics again. They actually latched onto the ATV's and started cutting through the hull. A couple more got picked off this way but the damage was apparently too great for the shields. The droids on the ATV's apparently communicated with the ones in the bay as they suddenly lurched into motion. They picked the things off the ATV's manually and welded them to nonoperation. McKendrick and Mr. Polovoski took the droids leads and conentrated fire on one of the things. It finally fell to the floor after a sustained burst. A couple of droids weren't so lucky as they basically aimed the plasma lasers at themselves. One droid exploded taking the thing with it. One escaped but with an arm still attached. It flew unsteadily trying to compensate for the extra weight. It went down under ATV fire. McKendrick ducked reflexively as one ATV shot at one directly in front of them. It was over in minutes. Minutes that had felt like hours. He was sweating again and he had hardly even lifted a finger. He turned away from the view of the little droids to Mr. Polovoski and asked, "What the hell was that?" FE#13 Michael McKendrick. (edit in: sorry all: typo, I'm the FE{G}) [This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 11-30-1999).]
  17. Jury duty today. I hear they interview you then it's hurry up and wait. Should have plenty of time to think things up. 24 eh? shouldn't be a problem. Hopefully you won't kill anyone off in the first wave. Saw ST:Insurrection last night. Not great but ok. But I have a good idea of what you are talking about. They dropped like flies in the movie though. I Promise not to get too creative. I'll just post and let you roll the dice. Charles
  18. Hope I'm not too late. Took me a while to decide where to be. I was leaning towards Sygan anyway so I hope it doesn't look like I cheated. It's as good an excuse as any to be out and about. If it messes the story up I'll remove the post. Now on to Blades Thread. Charles
  19. Commander Chavik rubbed his eyes. He had been going over Sygan's books for days. Nothing much was wrong, just a few things that could be better. That they were a bit out of the way of the normal space lanes didn't seem to bother the traders and the Credian Scientists stationed on Toron 1 found them much more convenient than the long journey to the rest of their system. The traders on Toron 2 kept a good stock but sometimes needed supplements and Sygan reciprocated. Also, certain traders would go to nullspace if there were a station and a way to make money there. All in all, Sygan held it's own and generated a little extra besides. Perhaps some of the tips Chavik had given would reduce overhead a little more. This little side trip had come at a quiet time. Rattler was off on one of his jaunts and Akira was keeping an eye on him. Things had been quiet in the region as well so Chavik decided he would pay a visit to Sygan and see how things were going. His crew had needed shore leave as well. it wasn't wuite time for that so Chavik had arranged a working vacation. Each shuttle loaded with crew were making trading runs between Polaris 1 & 2 and Activ IV & V. They were doing quite well for themselves as well Chavik noticed as he occasionally checked his balance in Centcom. Just then his commlink beeped. Chavik answered it and discovered his communications officer Kathy Siamet on the line. "Sir, the shuttles have returned and are reporting massing of raiders and Insurgent mercanaries. in Actis IV." "Well, they aren't ours. Get Spectre and see if you can trace Rattler down. Anyone else as well. Have the Phoenix loaded with as much Irirdium as she can hold. Shuttles as well. Inform Spectre we are going down there to check things out." "Aye sir." "I'm on my way, Chavik out." ------------------ Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix "We Shall Arise From The Ashes" Official BC3K Tester
  20. ARRRRRGH ! time to re-read the thread and get back into the spirit of it. You threw those HK drones at us pretty quick. Are they flying like those little killer balls in Phantasm? (movie)Or are they ground based like normal droids? The reason I ask is that flying drones would be almost impossible to kill while ground based ones could have some competition. Anyone who has docked a shuttle at a starstation should have noticed the hovering light fixture. Antigrav is not something we have exploited but it is there. Given anti grav the drones could be flying. So are they? You are playing Neena and the bad guy, Ben you still around? Hopefully Gallion and Akira will join back in and make this really interesting. We got any IC pilots left? Another wrench in the works ought to make this a blast. Charles

  22. Yup Bosch, his address (business probably) is listed in the manual. He doesn't shout it from every rooftop but it is there. quote:Oh, we need more commanders and especially a primary Empirian, Vesperson and some Insurgent commanders, in the fray. No one has taken Derek up on this yet? Hmmm, that would be quite a role. I'm ready to begin posting as an Insurgent. Got it mostly figured out. This will be fun. Charles/Chavik
  23. Being that close it would be a shame if you didn't drop by Blades. But even crossing an ocean I understand that local distance issues could be a problem. But Could you imagine the SC's face if you knocked on is door? {G}LOL One of these days I'll wander down that way. Charles
  24. That would be William Ramsay aka Alun Tringad on the RP forum. Blades, The "The Official Battlecruiser 3000 AD Webring" link in the webring frame is the link to the home page of the webring. William's e-mail address is in that link. Just some info in case you didn't already know.
  25. Mail sent. Nothing big; just some ideas. When was you leaving for Florida again? Charles
