quote:Then Bush won Florida, I'm still a bit miffed about that. That was a total fiasco made worse by the fact that it was the president's brother who was governor of the contested state. I personally think it should have gone to the secondary procedure like the constitution says. In Draconis Rex's thread An Americans ROle he mentions anti-nepotism. I'm for this. No president should have a relative in another office. Not senator, governor or even mayor of a major city at least. But that's farther off topic than Jag's post. So back to America's Role. We're the only superpower left. What do we do? Poke our noses into affairs involving fanatics that would fly planes into our buildings? That's not real smart. But whatcha gonna do? Surely not anything at all.

Hehe ; still should dump some rain on us which we need. I haven't been in a really good thunderstorm in a while. I would have enjoyed that but not at the expense of coastal residents dealing with a hurricane.

snip article by quote: ÔÇö Paul Johnson, the British journalist and historian, is the author, most recently, of Napoleon. quote:I agree with this assessment 100%... You do realize he is talking about building an American empire don't you? [ 10-03-2002, 11:03 PM: Message edited by: Charles Lindsey ]

Religious and Spiritual Beliefs

quote:Oh? And how are you looking to help? We can always skilled skinners, butchers, and tanners... You'll just have to job-shark them from the cattle industry. I said ya'll needed help. I didn't say I knew how to give it to you. quote:but there's something to be said for people who worship nekkid in the woods. Much more appealing than some stuffy old church. It would seem so but at least stuffy old churches keep the rain off your haed and provede a modicum of comfort. Then again I like being naked. wonder if I could be naked in a stuffy old church? -

Ya'll just flat out need some help. That's all there is to it. Dragon Lady: Read your reply on astrology. That's pretty much it. Pick what you like and discard the rest. But it's still interesting to me how little you need to discard. Wiccans? Voodoo? -

Anyone like astrology? It's interesting reading that stuff and seeing how close the profiles come to your own personality. -
Anyone want some popcorn?

quote:Charles, chill out.I just don't like the insults. Ya'll can have different views. It's what makes the world go 'round. But sheeesh. Well if ya'll ok with it then I guess it's ok.

Yup. Looking forward to it.

quote:Besides, it is unconstitutional (after all, the second amendment specifies the right to bear arms, not just own them, and most states consider walking around with a visible gun illegal). Now that's interesting. Ya can't walk around brazenly displaying one (usually, per Livyak's post)) or people think you're ready for a fight but yet you can't conceal one without being suspected of criminal activity.

Getting pretty thick in here. Everyone hurling personal insults at each other is not the way to discuss something.

I just hope we can get to the state where they will be unnecessary. Maybe in a few hundred more years. Humanity is not that advanced yet. However, tempers and anger will ALWAYS be part of the human construct so my wish is an almost hopeless one. edit in: quote:now, if he is incapacitated, i.e. he is alive but cannot do anything, then i will subdue him and call the police..JAg is right. Just kill him. Provided you have met all the rules for inescapable danger. Dunno if I read that or just heard it. I believe one of the rules of self defense is no other means of escape. I will gladly be educated on this. [ 09-26-2002, 09:51 PM: Message edited by: Charles Lindsey ]

Well then they wouldn't be civilian would they? Been trying to read the news but my work computer crashed the hard drive. I'm now using a win95 machine with IE 2.0. LOL! It can display Yahoo but the formatting is whacked. I can at least read the articles though.

Thundercats. Superfriends. Space ghost a little bit. Bugs Bunny. There was one that came on with Space Ghost. Had a blonde Tarzan like dude, a rock ape, a blob that could be anything, some rhino looking things. That's old. Then the one where an asteroid passed between the earth and the moon, ripping the moon in half, destroying civilization, but magic worked again. Was that Thundarr the Barbarian? Live actor shows. Another where the civilization was destroyed and doctors or something drove around in this huge white laboratory. Space 1999 where the moon broke out of orbit. hehe. The only network with decent cartoons, if any at all, is fox. Pokemon stinks but Yugi-oh is sorta ok. X-Men rule. Wish I could see the spidey cartoons again.

Loved Thief I, partially through Thief II but thought ya'll might like Thievery. I did a search but didn't find anything so I decided to post it. Thievery is an Unreal Tournament mod that seeks to capture the moods of the first two games. Unfortunately I haven't tried because I don't have UT but thought some of you may be interested. See http://www.thieveryut.com/ for more info.

Two or three days ago it was unconditional. Now he's changed his mind again? Geesh.

quote:How much oil we use do you think comes out of the Middle East? 25% Saw a late night political show. They even had a pie chart. I'll happily be proven wrong on this figure. The point was it isn't the US that needs the oil but a lot of our friends and/or allies rely heavily on middle east oil. Hate to disagree with you Lotharr or poke you with a stick but that's what I saw by a reputable news source. by Dredd quote:(which makes no sense, especially since war HURTS oil prices and HURTS the economy, It hurts the consumer certainly. The oil companies will do just fine.

quote:He should've been removed back in 1991, and letting him fester this long is already a mistake. Finally someone said it. But woulda, coulda, shoulda doesn't count. Now it's a mess all over again. Saw a bunch of political shows this morning. SAme stuff we talking about. Some good points. Some I disagreed with. Will be interesting to see how it chakes out.

Religious and Spiritual Beliefs

quote:Ok, I donÔÇÖt know about animals doing it for dominance, They do. Ask a vet. I used to take my dog with me when I visited my friends. They owned his mother and sister. He liked to play with a deflated soccer ball. Soft enough to bite but firm enough to kick and roll. Whoever got the ball got humped by one of the others. Just humped though. Obviously females have nothing to penetrate with. I don't think George did any humping. Then again he was low on the totem pole with two females around. The study I saw on gay animals was on seagulls I think. So there are true gay animals as well as it being used for a dominating tactic. And if you do decide to read the bible I would recommend a more modern translation. The King James version is beautiful when read as scripture in service but rather dry when trying to read it as a book I think. A more modern one shouldn't be too much worse than that nasty mythology book that woman wrote. The one we all read in high school (maybe they have changed by now.) Maybe the library has them. New I think they are rather expensive nowadays. Maybe more than idle curiosity could justify. Dunno. Your choice. -
quote:Or did you forget that?I'll apologize for that. Typical usenet tactic. quote:WE ARE THE UN, and we should leave it and let it fold up for the sham that it is.So we are the biggest contributor and the teeth of it. Fine. It's a tool we should take serious advantage of. (wish we had the devil smilie I've seen.) I thought the non-assasination policy/doctrine was older than Jimmy Carter. I'm not entirely against assasination. The only trouble with it is someone just as bad may come behind. Doesn't he have a brother? You'll probably have a conniption over this. I think we ought to leave him alone. Let him get whatever he wants. Let him become the biggest threat to the region. Then wait till those little sandboxes ask for our help. But no solution is perfect.

quote:AGAIN, HOW DOES A WAR WITH IRAQ BENEFIT OUR OIL SUPPLY? Not the supply in and of itself but who gets to profit from it. I read a (probably very obscure by now) article on Yahoo news. It was wither AP or Reuters. American oil companies are already petitioning the white house for the chance to deal with Iraq. The Sanctions against Iraq prohibit them from dealing wth Iraq. quote:I would agree, but But the argument is whether the US should act with unilateral abandon. quote:. I always thought it was stupid how in the Civil and Revolutionary Wars and prior to that the British and American Armies (or whatever nation), Umm if I remember right the british lined up according to the prim and proper rules of war and Americans invented guerilla tactics. quote:We are international lawWe are NOT. How arrogant. quote:just like we are the UNWe are NOT. We might be a charter and permanent member but we are NOT the entire UN. UN means United Nations. Or did you forget that?

Firefly turned out pretty good. As did John Doe that followed. Very good stuff.

Congratulations and Best wishes. A close relative still misses Seattle. The only compliment she gives Alabama is that the trees are pretty when they turn color. edit in: hehe don't forget to change your tag line. (location) [ 09-20-2002, 11:29 PM: Message edited by: Charles Lindsey ]
