Congratulations

Roam Commander/Terran/Insurgent Sygan/Generis Flew a Generis tonight. Got some enemies pretty soon. Was flying against a falkyrie starcarrier and the PTA was doing a bang up job. I had his shields gone and his armor down to 400. Then the dirty rotten rat b@astard decided I wasn't fun anymore and he went to pick on an S24 Raven. Coward.

Why I don't like guns. I just don't. Not because I had a bad experience with them or anything of that nature but simply because of what they are. They are a tool for killing. That's something I don't want to be a part of; something I don't want to be capable of. I've shot a gun. I was a cub scout. Some little .22 rifle I think. The stock (?) against the shoulder, look down the sights, aim at the target, pull the trigger, and hear my bullet go skittering off into the woods. I've also had a roommate who had two very large rifles. We had them on a gun rack in the living room. My chess set still bears the scar where it fell when he was moving out. I also had a BB gun around here somewhere. I remember shooting it at rocks. I was having cat difficulties I was going to take care of. I think one of the roommates snuck back in and got it though. I'm not scared of them. I just don't want one. You may have yours. The Constitution says so. Someone's got to carry the damme things. I don't. I have wondered what would happen if I did own a gun. Would I carry it? If I did carry it and some criminal jumped me with theirs already pulled could I get to mine? Would it be worth it? Things might be different if I lived in a big city or frequented higher crime areas but I don't. Come to think of it there have been some car jackings at malls. Doubt they'll want my escort but they might want my wallet. I might just go buy a decoy wallet, fill it with like a five and a bunch of ones and give that one away if I ever get mugged. I just dont' want a gun.

Late; but I want to say thank you as well. Was a shock. Haven't shown it to my parents yet. They still ask if I talk to "those people" who play "that game you like".

P.S. I'm still interested in anyone's experience with mandatory enlistment. Quit lurking. And where did Dad go? Premature grey? I should be so lucky. I got carded tonight by someone who hasn't even graduated yet.

I wasn't going to post until I had my thoughts gathered some more but Simparadox "made" me. That was a good post. Everyone else, including myself, should be deeply ashamed we have even proposed such a thing or thought about supporting it in any way. Taxation without representation. Ring a bell? Deciding who can and who cannot vote would be just that. I can still support rewards for military service such as tax reduction. The same or reduced for any other Civil Service. Thoughts on guns will come later guys. I do want to answer you but it's getting late and I've been knocked offline 5 times tonight already. $ilk is welcome to drive up the the 'Ham for lunch.

Was watching some political show this morning. Sam Donaldson, George Stephanopolis (sp?), and two others. Of course John Walker came up. Turns out that treason is the only crime defined by the constitution. Part of the definition is giving aid and comfort to the enemy. So I was wrong. Treason can be applied. It's just not the cold war spying giving away gov't secrets type of treason I am used to.

After warning Blades to be careful while they were cloaked Blades came back with a vey chilling "I don't miss." Chavik went back into the cave to think for a bit. He was feeling worse than ever. The shot Foss gave him didn't seem to be helping. He sat down on a rock and put his head in his hands. Then the nausea started. Wave after wave rolled over his gut till it broke over the proverbial dam. Chavik heaved and heaved again. The third time was the charm as his stomach finally voided it's contents. Lunch was first; then breakfast came later, then finally yesterday's dinner. Two more small heaves later Chavik felt a good deal better. He walked back to his team and checked the comm system. Then they were off. He had thoughts of cloaking and staying behind but decided against it. A mission was a mission. Even with the veiled threat in Blades' reassurance he was sure Blades would do the right thing if only to hide the fact that they were there. Upon reaching position Chavik realized he was worn out again. The nausea was gone but he felt weak and tired. Too tired to be effective. He activated the comms one more time and told the team his situation and that they should do whatever necessary to accomplish the mission. With his team on free reign Chavik headed towards the command post hoping he would feel better by then. [/RP] Not my best. Run with it guys.

I'm waiting for Menchise to start his thread on whatever he wants to debate. I deleted one post and hope Tyrn continues. As for John Walker himself I have a problem with treason. He did not set out (least I don't think so. it must be proven) to overthrow the US gov't. The Webster definition of treason. Maybe there are other nuances I am not aware of but I have a problem with calling it treason. I also have a problem with murder. Sure he was part of the prison uprising but did he actually pull the trigger or was he actually part of the group that killed the CIA agent? Dunno. The third charge that can be applied is supporting terrorists. That he most certainly did. Those three charges are the ones I saw tonight on the news that might be applied to John Walker's situation. They also say that he will probably be handed over to the Justice dept. $ilk's point about the passport rule was interesting. Maybe they will apply that rule. Then they can take him before a military tribunal. Whatever they do John Walker is toast.

Uhhh Tac? What would people be if they were not Citizens? Slaves? Subhuman? That part I don't like. Now special privileges for those who participate in the gov't; any US gov't, In any way (Military, US, Postal, State, County, City, Local) I can agree with. Voting is a combined right, priviledge, and an onus. The tax thing I like. Let's say that we still have a 30 year service towards retirement. What say a 2% reduction in taxes every year you serve the gov't. If you complete 30 years service (Standard retirment service I think) you pay 60% less taxes . I like that. Add up all those people and the loss of taxes and I think it would be a pittance compared to the general population. That is not a bad deal. Serve and get far less taxes at the end of your service. Menchise, I don't think $ilk meant what you think he meant. Perhaps his parents did raise him to be tolerant and understanding. That's a good thing. But I don't think it automatically means you are pro Taliban. I'm not asking you to change your comments just understand where they are coming from. And I don't remember reading he praised the attacks of Sept. 11. More of the story is he left at an early age to go study Islam and the Taliban "touched his heart". I personally feel he was mentally disturbed to begin with. If you haven't, read some more on this story. I almost hate to admit it but I use Yahoo at work. They made it my start page so I figure I have free reign there. The news page links to Reuters and AP. There are numerous articles on this already. So Ok then he took up with the Taliban. So what? Was that Treason? Nah... He liked their religion. Did he actually try to subvert the US Gov't? I doubt it. I really do. Did he take up arms against the US? Not unless he fired an anti-aircraft gun. At least in my opinion. The US has not been in an offensive on the ground yet so far as I know. Is he a traitor? Pretty much.
