  1. Wow. I look away for a day or two and look what's happened. Now I shall add myself to the list of Prime commanders appologising to the SC: I was the commander who noticed an unocupied Ter/Mil station and inquired into moving one of Prime's wings there. Which brings me to my question: quote: My only concern is that, I don't particularly want a wing assigned to a station, when in fact, usually, fleets (which consist of wings) are the designated assignees to stations. See my point? Well, mostly. Most fleets have a single station assigned to them. Orion has its station, as does Wraith, ISS, etc. (I'm not touching the Insurgency, since I'm not up to speed on their organization). Prime, however, during it's re-organization a year or so ago, took control of all of the Ter/Mil stations not assigned to other fleets. I wrote a fairly lengthy proposal on this board, which I cannot now find using search, so it must have been too long ago. After some debate, this proposal was approved, and Commander Guidihl was assigned to the Fleet Command position. This gave Prime three stations, instead of one. We had GalcomHQ, Genesis, and Starpath. So we split the five wings of Prime fleet among the three stations. When I found that Velari was a Ter/Mil station not affiliated with a fleet, I thought we might consider manning it. I also figured another fleet might make a claim on it, but none have, so far. So with 2 wings (Alpha, Beta) assigned to GalcomHQ, 1 wing (Gamma) to Genesis, and 2 (Delta, Epsilon) to Starpath, Epsilon seemed the best choice to move to Velari. (Epsilon, BTW, is among the more active of our wings, with 2 commanders ). Now that the history lesson is over (and it was not intended for you SC, as I've no doubt you're aware of all this. But now everyone is), I'll come to the point: If we are supposed to be at 1 station/Fleet, is Prime then ordered to vacate Genesis, Starpath, and Velari? If so, we need 3 more fleets to fill these stations, and we need them quickly.
  2. A note: Galcom Fleet Academy would be Prime Fleet Academy. We're the Regular Force. I imagine any new recruit would have to pass Through prime to get to any specialized fleet in Galcom.
  3. I don't think it's a database bug, since entering double apostrophes ('') fixes it. It sounds like an HTML limitation. Anyway, there is a workaround.
  4. Gotta agree with the oil rub: I liked it, but it didn't belong. I like the ship. I like that they have absolutely no clue. I like that their equipment is inferior, that they couldn't hit a thing with most of their weapons, and that warp 4.5 is "fast, really fast" The plot was... not bad. The acting was pretty good. It was a hell of a lot better than the first TNG. I love the interior of the ship. Nothing fancy, stark colors, and doors that you need to push buttons to open.
  5. Web through phones, cable, satellite, wireless, and now through the power outlets? What's next? "Water-Web: broad-band internet access through your plumbing! Access includes our new E-SINK!"
  6. I'm with Blades on this one. No matter how bad it is, it'll get better. I'm pretty sure it won't be as bad as the first season of TNG, and I was glued to the set every week then.
  7. I find that sometimes when that happens, entering double apostophes ('') can fix the problem. This may be a long shot, but some programming languages take ' as the end of a string, and '' as an apostrophe within a string. Try it, it might work.
  8. "And there was much rejoicing...yeah" Ok, have to find money. Need video card, need game. Game for Christmas? hmmm...use backup (crappy but compatible) video card? So much to decide. Time is short. [RP] Not much to report in the Omicron Eridani system. No sign of the Insurgent Base that Intel suspects is in Midae. No sign of Alpha Wing's missing ships. 'Bout the only thing of interest is a rogue asteroid, which will pass very close to the planet Midae in a few weeks. Not much to look at, at this range, but it's definately an asteroid, not a base... [/RP] Famous last words Things are about to get fun. [ 09-25-2001: Message edited by: Badgerius ]
  9. New Orders! See the Prime Fleet web-board, Gamma Wing, for details.
  10. For an early peek at the recruitment movie (no sound yet) check out: http://www.primefleet.com/recruit.html
  11. Dear god. The chairman of the Terrorism commission compared this to Pearl Harbour, and called for the full might of the US military to retaliate.
  12. [RP] The Gamma Wing Officer's Lounge, located on Genesis station, is now open for business. The lounge will contain various misc. stuff about the BC universe: Stories, pics, fan fiction, etc. In an effort to sustain cordial relationships between the fleets, the Gamma Wing Lounge will have seats reserved for the Fleet Commanders of all Galcom fleets. Because of the Wraith Fleet Commander's repeated requests for tours of the station's... err... facilities, we have reserved him the first place. The lounge can be reached by accessing the Prime Fleet data system at www.primefleet.com and selecting the Gamma link. [/RP] Well, the BCs may not have 'em, but I made good and sure the stations do!
  13. Web Page update: News, Bios, and Lounge sections are up and running. If you've got anything you want to add to the lounge...stories, pics, whatever, let me know, and I'll put it in there.

    Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Beebop? I love that show. Damn Shaw!
  15. Hehe. We've converted another one. Yeah, I've been addicted to Sluggy for a year now.
  16. Another Sluggy Fan! "Worship the Comic"
  17. I hadn't forgotten about them. EarthCom isn't a Galcom Fleet. I'm actually not sure why ISS is, since it only deals with Earth, but there you go.
  18. ISS stands for In-System-Security. It's main concern is the protection of the Sol system. Unlike the rest of the Galcom fleets, who have to look to the protection of Vesperon and Empirian interests, ISS is tasked solely with the protection of Earth. I think that's right, somebody correct me if I'm wrong here.
  19. Gamma Wing. We have recieved orders. Please check out the prime fleet board, Gamma Wing News, for details.
  20. ok, it's back up.
  21. Hey guys. The webpage is down.
  22. I've played X-beyond the frontier, and Tachyon, and was a little disapointed with both of them. X was supposed to be like Privateer, but isn't really exiting. All of the sectors are square, and the game itself is very, very slow. Tachyon is sort of like Mechwarrior Mercenaries, in space. The graphics are nice, the plot is pretty good. But there really isn't much exploring to do. That's what I miss about Privateer, and the Elite series. The ability to really explore.
  23. Prime fleet has fewer active commanders than Orion, which makes for more possibilities for advancement. Prime also has more scope for it's activities. Orion is a heavy assault fleet. (Goes in there with 30 ships and really, really KILLS that long range probe which violated our space ) Prime fleet has no specialization. We're the Galcom Navy, regular force. Sometimes, we'll kill probes. Sometimes, we'll patrol the boundaries of our space. Sometimes, we'll explore, or defend far-flung colonies, or escort diplomatic delagations. We'll do deep recon, and intel gathering, we'll defend our home system. We'll show the flag, hunt pirates, and deliver medical supplies. Anything and everything which Galcom needs doing, we'll do. We even have room for marines and traders. If you want to do everything that BCM has to offer, in a multiplayer situation, with some fun roleplaying thrown in for good measure, then sign up for Prime Fleet. Join the Navy, see the inside of a starship...err... I mean, the Galaxy, yeah the Galaxy!
  24. I know that IWAR 1 didn't pull any punches as far as distances were concerned. Flying from one of Jupiter's moons to another took a long time, even with LDS maxed out. I re-installed it the day before last. I'm enjoying it one last time before I bid farewell to my Voodoo 3. Still a good game.
  25. Prime fleet welcomes you MidnightGreen, no matter which fleet you choose.
