  1. The fleets are a RPG thing, but they are also the "Guilds" or "Clans" of the upcoming Multiplayer releases. The fleets offer structure and command opportunities to those who don't feel that one battlecruiser is enough. There are two factions which currently have active fleets. Galcom has many fleets, with Prime being the Regular Navy, and the others specializing in some area. The Insurgents are all organized under the banner of Spectre Fleet. If you decide to join a fleet, which you are by no means required to do to play multiplayer, you gain access to the Multiplay Role-Playing servers. Please consider Prime Fleet in your choices. Our recruiting poster may be found at: http://www.geocities.com/badgerius/poster.jpg Check out the Fleet Discussion forum for more general information on fleets, or the individual fleet forums for more specific information. ------------------ Commander S. 2. Welcome Aboard! I'd love to have you in my Wing, but I suspect I've gotten more than my fair share of commanders recently. Still, it's good to see new faces around here! Again, Welcome! ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
  3. LOL! That's us: "ponderous". As in, getting stepped on by an elephant. ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
  4. If you don't want to commit to any particular type of mission, then Prime Fleet is for you. We pride ourselves as being jacks of all trades, and so you would be doing everything from orbital bombardment to mineclearing to convoy escort. Plus, there are numerous openings for Squadron and Wing Commanders, if you'd like to try your hand at commanding something bigger than a Battlecruiser. There are also some more, shall we say, covert positions that might be available after you've signed up. ------------------ Commander S. 5. My this is getting ugly! More time at dinners than on my bridge? Ouch! You see, members of Galcom talk about honour, duty, and courage, and protecting Earth from the miriad of hostile aliens throughout the galaxy, while fostering trade and peace between those Species that don't see Terrans as lunch. Insurgents, on the other hand, spout insults and talk vaguely of freedom. Freedom from what? Freedom from Galcom? Freedom from Peace? They spout corruption and disorganization. I leave that for you to judge. Each fleet of the Galcom Navy is just as well organized (dare I say more) than the Insurgent fleet. From what has been said on the thread, I would say that the Insurgents are nothing more than anarchists banded together under the flag of a very few, albeit very capable, senior officers. So, for honour, courage, and duty, choose Galcom. For anarchy under the guise of freedom, by all means, join the Insurgency. ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
  6. Well, Galcom has a better recruitment poster than the Insurgency, for one thing: http://www.geocities.com/badgerius/poster.jpg (Command and Special Ops positions available, upon request) But seriously, Galcom considers the Insurgency to be a group of radical terrorists. The Insurgency considers Galcom to be a corrupt regime that should be destroyed. All Insurgent members are former Galcom members, who have defected. ------------------ Commander S. 7. I say twice a month, for now. Once we start playing, we can tweak that. 1st and 2nd Squadrons, I'd like preferred patrol locations/routes for each squadron by July 15th. Routes may contain stations of hostile stations, provided that they are Multinational. That means we can patrol Raider controlled regions, but not Gammulan controlled regions, for example. Patrol areas can contain a number of space regions up to the number of active ships in the squadron. Remember that some moons are contained within their own region. These regions must be patrolled, as well. ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
  8. So we'd be patrolling the "space lanes." Keeping the unclaimed regions between our stations and outposts clear of hostiles. ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
  9. Well, Gamma Wing? What say you? There are eight star systems in the Terran Quadrant. Where do you want to patrol? I think that our patrol areas should alternate, once we get them organized. Say, every couple of weeks or so, we all swap patrol zones. That way, we won't get bored. ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
  10. How far out are we going to patrol? Just the Terran Quadrant? Or are we going to be doing patrols in the neighboring Quadrants as well? ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
  11. I'm a father!!! Sean Andrew Wilson came into the world at 5:30 am Pacific Time, June 9, 2000. He weighed 6 pounds, 3 ounces. Pics are available at: http://www.geocities.com/badgerius/baby.html I wanted to let you guys know. Now I'm gonna get some sleep. I've been up and coaching for 28 hours.
  12. I'd like to apologize for my long absence. I have reviewed the posts since I was last here, and I am proud to see how well the squadron commanders are handling problems without need for intervention from myself or the XO. That said... IT'S A BOY!!!!!!!! Sean Andrew Wilson, 6 pounds 3 ounces. pics available at: http://www.geocities.com/badgerius/baby.html ------------------ Commander S. 13. Hey, I liked the Wing Commander Movie, too. Must be something in the BC water... ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
  14. I liked it, but if you liked the "In, do the impossible, and out, with no one ever knowing you were there" parts of MI-1, then you could be disapointed. On the other hand, there is only one way to describe the moves Cruise pulls off in this movie: "Human Perfection". ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
  15. All this Waiting!! No Prob 6 Days and counting! ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
  16. Thomas, the SC mentioned that quote:Fleet Leaders and their high ranking officials who are not already testers will be considered as testers. Do you know anything about this? ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
  17. Good idea. We'll try to hammer some of that out at the meeting. ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
  18. I don't think there's been much meeting in the past few weeks, but let's all try to meet this weekend at the usual time. ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
  19. I'm back. It feels good to be home! Now that I've crawled out of my Exam induced coma, I can get back to work on the newsletter. If anyone has anything they'd like to submit, E-mail it to me. ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
  20. Papi, looks good, I like it. Which post on fleet formations? I went looking but didn't find it. Well, I came on here to let you know that with finals and everything, I can't really devote any time to Gamma Wing until after the 15th of April. I was going to take a leave and leave Cmdr. Scharmen in charge. Looks like that isn't going to work. Good luck on the surgery, BTW, Scharmen. So here's the deal. There isn't much going on right now, so I'll retain command and check in when I can. Rico, if the waste dump hits the fan, and I miss it, you have authorization to do what's best for the wing. Try not to sell Genesis. ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing [This message has been edited by Badgerius (edited 04-03-2000).]
  21. Time for some news. We had a good turnout at Saturday's meeting. We discussed formation flying with battlecruisers, and several other important subjects. The full chat logs will be available in Gamma Wing's newsletter, "The Flux Point" due to come out around April 15. Other features will include Bio's, ship and weapon specs, and articles on strategy/naval warfare. The Flux Point will be web-based. URL to come. The Guarddogs have nicely built us a HQ! It is in Active Worlds, near Commander's Village on Mars. The coordinates are 959N, 881E. Command staff (including squadron Commanders) who don't want to make their own buildings can move into any of the empty offices. Mine is on the 2nd floor on the right. Check it out! ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
  22. The Syrions might be interested in supporting the Insurgents due to the fact that elements within GALCOM came very close to destroying the homeworld of their Allies, the Droidans (Preemptive Strike). An act like that might cause the Syrions to provide support for the Insurgents to keep the "Crazy Aggressive Terrans" divided and fighting amongst themselves, reducing the threat of a Terran invasion of Syrion space. ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
  23. LOL! Sure, raise the bar! Now it won't be RT(F)M, it'll be WAPOTM (Write a Paper on the Manual) Can't wait to see it! ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
  24. Well, the Insurgents are masters of cloaking technology, and have hiding in debris fields down cold... ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
  25. SC, as long as we're talking about moving stations, how about moving Genesis to a more strategically important location? There's a flux point in Mercury no one's guarding... ------------------ Commander S. Badgerius GCV-Diligence Prime Fleet S36 Commander, Gamma Wing
