This thread has been inactive for ages but i'll try and help. i dont have the patience to investigate and replicate it so i'll just state the facts. the Supreme commander is right, it does not affect the gameplay or your ship, so we can deal with it. That said, i'll state what i have learnt from my version of the problem, and from all the wonderful-wonderful posts in this message. I am recieving damage to my bridge. to fifty percent. my CE reports the damage, and he automatically sends engineers to repair it. (speculation) This happened after docking at syganstar or pixan, i cannot remember which. Does this ring a bell to anyone or not? (my straight facts) -My engineers repair the damage, kendrick assigns them. However, they do not use any resources to repair the damage. -I am on my third day, artifacts are available. -I havent found any artifacts yet. (DOH!) -crew are at a respectable ai level, about 45-50. -occured soon after docking at either syganstar or pixan station. perhaps it had already occured during the dock(?) -Several systems are highlighted in orange, at 98- 99-100% and can not be repaired. -No known volatile materials on board, unless large amounts of... PLUTONIUM? is that it??!! or is plutonium safe without something else... (Gathered from this thread) -It occurs using playmod. -It occurs without using playmod -volatile materials cause damage but the damage occurs without any being on board. or any KNOWN volatile materials on board. Unless we are all forgetting what PLUTONIUM is used for today... -It does not just affect the bridge, it may affect some of the other subsystems up there. -It does not occur without a fairly experienced crew. -Whether repaired at a station or while out in space, after coming to 100% the bridge goes back to 50%. (Summerisation) -Playmod is a factor but is not the cause. -Needs an experienced crew. -no KNOWN volatile materials. we should check. remember what PLUTONIUM is used for. -Damage to bridge does not affect your ship or anyone on board. Therfore, it is just a letter on your screen. -Never, EVER entrust your life savings to a Budgerigar. (off topic) KNIGHTBLADE IS COMING!

Yes it is, thanks a lot. I disabled it via it's setup program and it works fine now.

Perhaps somebody here knows a solution, i have tried and can't stop it. Whenever i target a building or spacecraft, or well... anything, it will clear itself off the CVD and TDO. It takes between 2 seconds and 2 minutes to happen, this is irritating when in a fight with a multiple targets, because i spend time weakening one, then lose it and will sometimes target the other one by mistake. It seems like nobody else is having a problem with this? there were no other posts in the forum about this. If it is of any help, i am using a joystick, i use a button to target closest enemy but no buttons on the joystick clear targets.

Guys... Normally when you run purley on solar power the screens display "malfunction" on a power level ten do they still display that or do they work?
-
ok... aside from the fact he looks like he had his photo taken while he had an mrt-15 up his bum what DO you have against him? he seems like a common scapegoat around here... he gets blamed for EVERYTHING!

prox, when it comes to shuttles and fighters sometimes using the hotkeys dont work.(unless...) if you havent, try just using your mouse to turn the engine back on.

hi I know what the dissapearing marine problem is, well its not really a problem. if you check perscan, you will notice that some of the marines (depending on your ship) are in space suits. you can not beam marines in space suits to a planet, well as sc explained, they are not designed for planet operations. so it makes sense. apparantly the idea is that the suits deteriorate upon entering the enviroment, killing the marine. As for the follow order, theres no real solution.. the ai is clueless until they gain at least an ai rating of 70. and even then they're not too bright... the best way to attack a base is using your best asset... you. You will find that once you get your OC in their base, they cant do a damn thing to stop you. I find theres little to be gained from blowing up the bases on a planet.. aside from a change of scenery it just gets you away from your best mate, your CC... from what i have heard, UC is the one for planetary engagements. anyway good luck.

I spent ages trying to think for a name, just sat there at the screen thinking.... hmmm... and who DIDNT name their ship Enterprise for the first few missions??? I realised that was probably taken by about a few hundred other people so i couldnt keep it long... thats when i thought... again. GSV-Steakandchips pulled out of its berth and began its voyage!

When you get into a cab, you say "Take the nearest wormhole to Galcom HQ!" (taxi driver presses some buttons and adds extra $ for this loony)

an intruder blew up my officers quarters

Thats awesome. Although you dont get a whole lot for hull repair units until you start buying ninety at a time. But yeah, thanks a lot for the advice [ 03-26-2004, 09:44 PM: Message edited by: Littlealx ]

LOL! I found a planet called Actis IV is an incredible 45% mineral so i recommend from now on people have a go at mining there. its in the procyon system
-
i dunno if i agree with that... its never hard to find enemy ships but you dont seem to get a lot of cash for taking em out... of course the cargo is sometimes good... how about this unbeatable combination then Finding and killing enemy ships... while your drones are mining If anyone is looking for places to mine, scratch phobos, go to Jupiter and mine from EUROPA. Its an icy moon, and it also has a fair amount of diamonds.
-
Its no suprise that when you start a new game you desperatly need money for radine. lots of it. First thing i did was deploy mining drones and start fighting... i destroyed and captured a few ships, destroyed some CCs and captured some shuttles. Actually i dont think i got a whole lot of money out of that... it all came from the miners 3 hours later (btw i managed to drag a fleeing shuttle right out of hyperspace, hehe i was pretty pleased with myself about that, it reappeared out of hyperspace 30 secs afterwards on the end of my tractor) Anyway peoples, list the tactics you use to get money, and some planets that are good to mine on. I noticed that you can check the mineral type of planets but not moons. since moons are sometimes more rich than planets i just guessed. Phobos, one of mars's moons is pretty damn good to ghet resources from. only problem is finding the things again hehe

Ok im registered and my specs are there now I installed the 1.01.02 patch after insalling the 1.01.01. I started a new game and i could dock fine. Then i saved a few times and flew around, now when i try to go to tradecom it crashes to desktop... i thought the .02 patch would fix this.. anything i can do?
-
I CANT! I dont have a cd key for the game, it didnt come with one and it never asked me for one! its bttlecruiser millenium gold ed, so SHOULD it ask me for a cd code!!?? i cant register because i dont know what it is!!! I am not using an illegal version in case you think i am i can give you the barcade, and details etc, i just cant find the keycode im supposed to type. Im in australia so maybe the retail changed a little? Apparantly i was supposed to get a starchart and manual... well all i got was the cd and a "users guide" which is a lot smaller than the full blown manual on the disk. meh. guess ill have to print it. all 152 pages of it [ 03-04-2004, 01:41 AM: Message edited by: Littlealx ]

I got halfway across the galaxy without a crash the first campaign mission for heavy carrier commander. Well needless to say im running low on radine so i went to majora starbase (i think?) Whenever i go to the "trade" button in a starbase the game boots me out to desktop. Is there an obvious cause for this? I still havent been able to register the game because i dont have a serial number. If its a cd key it wants, i dont have one and the game never asked for one when i installed it... please give me a hand fellas..
-
mmm... well i checked back and theres a post two pages (ago) where someone has the same prob as me. I got those drivers and it works fine so, yeah sorry for making a dupe post. One thing i also read; that if you clean up your registery the comp is more stable, my comp is about 4 years old and thats 4 years of games, but im not experiecned with the reg. should i risk trying to clean it up or leave it because it would be very bad?? Tis ok you can abuse me all you want
-
Ok ok sorry... Ive filled out the specs to the best of my knowledge and um with the registering it wants a serial number located on the cd case? (tyvex??!!) I dont know if this is right but i just got the cd in the box in a clear white case, i tried the number on the bottom of the cd but it didnt like it...

Hey The only symptom for this seems to be it happens when i press the left mouse button. not all the time, i get about 10 mins before it boots, with no error message. it also seems to boot to desktop a few seconds after leaving a planets atmosphere. Im running win 98 SE 256RAM Geforce2MX Directx9.b um 833mhz and thats about it, do you need more? It also gives me this at the startup of game failed 0x80004002 to set message drain for c:programfilesdreamcatcherbattlecruisermillenium gold/gfx/avi/dclogo.avi Any help would be really appreciated, id love to get stuck into this game

absoloutly awesome first off Its not really much of a tutorial huh? I was hoping for some kind of helping hand but, i suppose you have to teach yourself anyway. SO. i sat there bashing buttons for half an hour and suddenly something about hyperspace came up and i started going somewhere i seriously did not want to go. The stars were flashing past, that dirt ball kept getting smaller and smaller and it dissapeared, and i tried shutting the reacter down but nooo lol! Is there anyway to exit hyperspace once your in? and um... theres no map, it says this reigon is unexplored so i just used the computer to target "hells gate" i think and jumped towards that. is that right? Thanks ill be a vet someday hahah
