  3. Yeah, it is a bit like BF2, although here's why I like it better : 1) It's free 2) It runs better 3) The sound of the combat is magnificent. Every gunshot adds to the battle. 4) They got the recoil and the accuracy of the guns. BF2 screwed this up really badly. 5) Maps are better designed and more varied 6) The interface doesn't have an actual "loading screen"
  4. Warrock is a free FPS made by Korean company Dream Exocution. It's an incredible game. Check it out here. It's got over 20 weapons and the map design is amazing!
  5. Yeah , Star Treck legacy looks neat, only hope they'll let you use transphasic torpedoes, if you know what those are. What did you thinkof the games in the list?

  7. Post all your pieces of art here. Here's is my latest, modeled in Wings 3D and rendered in Yafray :
  8. It's pretty decent. The lag is atrocious, but poeple admit that they're using 56K. The guns are really neat. HDR is teh SUXXOR!!
  9. This is a revolutionary mod for Half Life 2that comnbines RTS and FPS. You have one commander per team who builds buildingings and units, just as one would do in an RTS game, and everone else is a soldier. This is what I've always wanted. Give it a spin . 56kers be warned, it weighs in at 415 Mb.
  10. The original boiling point sucked. Deep Shadows just doesn't know the first thing about game design... The AI was terrible and the lack of charcter models was extreme. Weapons were neat, though.. Come to think of it, it sounds like it might be worth it once it hits the bargain bin.. Heh..
  11. Ater playing it, I can say that this is a likely candidate for the best FPS of 2006. The graphics are fantastic and the gameplay is very exciting and intuitive.. Perhaps the best part is the weapons. Firing them is fun no matter what you're aiming at. The weapon effects are simply brilliant. The AI is also refreshingly good. The gamelplay? Fanstastic. Think Call of duty intensity and then some. The only donwside is the performance. It ran well on my dual 7800 GTXs, but I've heard lots of reports from people on the forums complaining about poor performance. Consider you're self good to go if you have a 256 Mb Radeon 9800 or better. The 256 memory seems to make a big difference in recent games. *shrug* That memory is probably completely occupied, becasue the game has the most jaw froping textures you've probably ever seen. Think X3. You're probably going to want a bucket for all the drool, preferably a half gallon bottle. I'de be a fool if I didn't mention the main aspect of this game : time manipulatioime can be slowed down, rewound, or stoped alltogether. Aside from being essential to completing some part so of the game, it allows some very interesting kills. Anyhow, enough of my yacking get it here
  12. Well, I place more value on graphics than most do, so when a the other hardcore UT fans find out that it's gameplay is more or less the same it's going to suck for them too.. and Epic. Then again, Epic are issuing licenses for Unreal 3 faster than Santa was handing out presents, so I guess they don't really need to rely on quality games for their income..
  13. Simplyy put, the gameplay is a total rehash of UT204. Not only are the weapons designed the same way, the also function the identically. Same thing goes for the vehicles. The only thing new seems to be a level of interation betweenplayers and their AI allies. They can give voice orders to them, which I gotta admit is pretty neat. I'm still probabaly going to get it because the technology behind it is so fantastic and groundbreaking.
  14. What part of first person are we talking about? Single player or multiplayer? And about the interface, the bottom bar setup hasnbn't been really used since almost a decade. IMO, this plays a big part in making it feel outdated. I think people realize that with a game world this big, you can't be putting out the latest in visuals.. It should be divided into two parts, spread out on the bottom left and bottom right corenrs of the screen. Total ammo, ammo left in the clip, and currently selected weapon should be in the bottom right and health/stance (prone, standing, etc.) should be in the bottow left corner. Also, the font looks kind of..chintzy(read :"old school").. Bank gothic is an example of a better one. Also, I agree moving at 100 MPH is a baad idea, but it would be good if the walking speeed was a increased A BIT. Jogging speed is aboit 10 MPH. Reasoning : the game involves a lot of walking from point A to point B, so if the walking was a bit faster, it would leave players bored less of the time.
  15. Anyone else get this game? IMO, it is the best FPS ever made. Why? Firsst of all, the combat is spectaculr, and second, it's graphics are second to none, even improving on Half Life 2's. The multiplayer is like nothing you have ever seen. n fact, so much so that I'de say it makes Call of Duty look like FDNY : Firefighter. Chaotic as hell and REALLY exciting. One of the chief benificiaries is the smoke. Yup.. the smoke. The caos of comabat throws snoke everywhere and you can't see thrrough tjhe smoke, so you don't know if there is an enemy there. SO, you're just shooting back and forth through uncertainty. It's tense (not frustrating.) Perfect? Nah, it could use a few more weapons and it's a bit too linear. Though, presonally, I think it deserved a 95% from PC Gamer, not a 92%. Buy it. And loose yourself in it.
  16. New gameplay info: Aliens Aliens do not build units and buildings, they spawn via cloning. Alien buildings are actually stationary lairs which will use cloning and transmutation to grow onto enemy bases. This may seem familiar to some, the Zergs from Starcraft had similar abilites. Aliens undergo stages in which they can clone and stages in which they are ready to defend themselves.Singleplayer The story is written by five sci-fi authors. The campaigns, which aren't linear, will first lead to locations in our solar system before getting interstellar. Missions inside buildings are planned. You will again have a main base with several outposts, researches and units are taken over from mission to mission.Gameplay Units are slowed down by rain (due to mud). The units' appearance suffers from fights - they get scratches and scorch marks. Splitting the view into separate windows as in Earth 2150 will be possible again. This way you can separate the screen to keep an eye on different locations. The already eagerly discussed first-person perspective has been affirmed. You can see the action with the eyes of your units. Steering the unit, however, will not be possible. Resources can be found in different states. Liquid water is better than water from ice blocks, because it's more easily accessible. Also, today marks the day where no screenshots have been released since 7 months... Really do hate it when Devs don't release screens very often. And then, any threads regarding the absense of any screens or updtaes in 7 monyhs(!) are delted... hmm...They said they release some screens soon.. *sigh*
  17. Allright, nothing myuch new lately. Supposed to be some official screenshots released soon which are partially intended to remind us that the game REALLY DOES look as good as (and probally better, seeing as how the engine has advanced quite far in the six months that no official screenshots have been released) than the second batch of offical screens. You know, I really don't like this style. I mean, I don't like it that Reality Pump released screens at a decent rate for the first couple months. Then (suddenly and unexpectantly) they cease to release ANY update for 6 months. And finally, after 6 months, they say that somehting big is coming soon. Oh god... Anybody else agree? I mean, It's good that RP is making such an awesome game, but why can't the release updates oftenly? I mean us fans like to know how the game is going, right. No one likes to be left in the dark, right. And that is what has happened with Earth 2160. During the past 6 months of utter silence, some of us fans thought it had been cancled or had become another DNF. Now that the devs finally speak up, after all this time, how are us fans supposed to react?
  18. Might one of you be so kind as to tell me where I can download the latest ones?
  19. the latest version of the Intel AGP miniport driver is? Intel's dumb site design doesn's make it very easy to tell. Damn intel thinks we al know how to decode their site. How do you view your current miniport driver version? Do the following: 1. Open the CONTROL PANEL 2. Click on DISPLAY 3. Click on SETTINGS 4. Click on ADVANVCED 5. Click on the button on the top that has your video card name on it 6. It should be the second one in the box at the botom which says "Display Driver Miniport."
  20. To see an example of the number that I'm looking for go here and click on "pentium 4 based motherboards" at the top.
  21. Due to the fact that I'm a "true gamer", I have an almost crazy detirmination to sqeeze every last bit of performance out of my PC. Recently, I found out that I can get more performance by downloading the recent AGP mini port drivers for my mother board (that,s what mnakes PC Gaming great - so many drivers to download .) Naturally, this requires figuring out the model number on my intel motherboard. So, question is how do I figure out the model numbr on my motherboard (as you might have guessed)?
  22. Did any of you guys check out the trailers on IGN (skip the trialers on Gamespot, they're rubbish)? FYI, these are taken on a Radeon 9600, so the game will look A LOT better on a higher end Graphics Card. As you can see, there are still some issues that need to be dealt with (the walking animations of the infantry and mechs.) Fortunatelly, the engine is still in the beta stage, so the problems will probably get fixed.
  23. I wonder which ones SC is looking forward to... For all those looking forward to 2160, there is a new trailer at insideearth.de/eng. The interface will soon be replaced by one that resembles the one out of the movie, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. The movies are takne on a Radeon 9600 with no FSAA and AF so if you have the right video card the game can look A LOT better than in the vid.
