  1. But the biggest problem IMHO is still that the ones selling these media articles doesn't (mostly) have no intention to check the age of the consumer.Though this is their very duty. And instead of targetting these deficits, politicians choose the populistic way with forbidding and demonizing games *sigh*.

  3. quote:Jack Thompson is simply a media whore. That's it. He realizes that if he makes outlandish claims about videogames, the idiot media gets all orgasmic and points their cameras at him. He, in turn, gets orgasmic as well, says something even more stupid, and you end up with anti-videogame orgy. Dont show that Jack Thompson. He'll probably take it for real.
  4. Well,I can understand every point counting for online distribution, but as I have said in the old thread it is quite difficult for those people that a)don't trust electronic cash in general and especially via the internet b)don't even have an EC-card :/
  5. http://service.spiegel.de/cache/internatio...,365104,00.html quote:And what about United Nations Resolution 1559, which calls for the disarmament of Hezbollah, which on the one hand bills itself as a normal political party, while at the same time maintaining its own 20,000-troop militia in southern Lebanon, near the border with Israel? "This is an internal Lebanese matter. Hezbollah is a movement to resist Israeli occupiers. A disarmament by force would be completely inconceivable." But isn't it also inconceivable that the Hezbollah forces continue to operate autonomously as a quasi second Lebanese army? "That's something we will negotiate."Well, who really thought it would become a bit more quiet after the Cedar Revolution in the Middle East?
  6. quote:No, not your word, your whole uderstanding of this is wrongThat's your opinion. But a forum is used to exchange views.A forum with people only having the same points of view would be quite unnecessary.
  7. http://service.spiegel.de/cache/internatio...,365056,00.html Isn't if fascinating that you [probably] won't hear about those things when you just watch the news in the television?Or isn't it important because it mainly happens in Asia?
  8. You're right soback,I've chosen indeed the wrong word.
  9. Hmm,but why would you be allowed to patent a random order of 1 and 0?It's IMO the same as if you would patent a book, trying to prevent people to use special words, like "apple" or something like that.
  10. quote:I don't know if this is good or bad, I know that if I invented a unique process for implementing software, I would want to be compensated for my efforts, not have others simply copy what I did, say THANKS and move on. Is this really fair? I have unfortunately no translated source(again)but according to the SPIEGEL from the 5.7 2005 unique (software)proccesses(like software for vehicle building machines) are as usual patented, while software has the standard copyright.I'm not very inside the whole patent stuff, but I imagine it to be quite unlovely,if for example norton decided to patent it's anti-virus software, thus forming a monopole-->and opening a giant security hole,as there is no uiversal, perfect anti-virus software(I for example use 2 different ones, just to be sure). And I guess that scenario in their minds the politcians decided to vote against patents for software.
  11. Yep definetely a good thing they rejected it.(I'm thinking about those unneccessary patents ala amazon.com,who patented their 1-click-buy button)
  12. quote:Seriously, I think that judge just missed the point completely. He perpetrated the crime when he was 18 it shouldn't matter when the vehicle of his crime was created.I basically agree with you,but it depends on what crime has been committed.Even if he had done the crime when being adult,he wouldn't have got to go into prison, he just probably would have been on parole for 5 years. As it is not a typical crime.NoOne has been hurt or has been stolen. Thus I don't know what your problem with the sentence is :/ .But maybe I'm missing some decicive point.
  13. Well,in my country it luckily also counts how old you are at the time you committed the crime. He was underage when he programmed the virus.Do you really want to put an 19 year old one into a jail where rapers, murderers and other scum resides? It would destroy his future! He only damaged virtual things-->and uncovered security holes. It's not something he can be proud of,not at all.He should have been sentenced to have much more social hours,3 years or something like that. But he didn't kill someone. Thus the court judged IMO pretty correctly. Damn am I happy soback that I'm living in an liberal socialist country..apart from that I'm not sure if you know what you want to prove with this term. And I very wonder what you would have liked him to be setenced to. quote:It's the societys fault he did it, and therefore it's the societys responsibility to shoulder the damages he causedNot at all.
  14. Finally I have seen the movie, and it was very stirring in the first half of the movie(especially the scene when the alien machines devastate the city from which the ferry starts, and then all these screams and lights and corpses...I was being flooded this first half of the movie without any pause with adrenaline). The feeling of despair was so tangible,it was almost frightening (IMO).But I guess also this heavily relies on the big screen and the surround effects in the cinema(and on the great acting by Dakota Fenning and Tom Cruise). On your normal screen in the living room, without surround sound and a screen size of merely 20" it wouldn't have been that fascinating I suppose. quote:Tripods making tuba noises ? What for ? Do they communicate by sound ? Very sophisticated. Does their machinery behave like old damp locomotives ?Maybe not realistic, but important as you could tell by these noises that again 1 of the alien machines would appear, thus making it more dreadful IMO. And about the quite bad last half of the movie:I was very happy about that, because if the horror had been going on like in the first half of the movie,I probably wouldn't have watched the movie to the end,it would have been too much for me. I'd give it a rating of 8/10.
  15. What dirty thoughts? There are just 2 pictures with 3 persons.Nothing dirty.I don't know what you might have seen
  16. Exactly.Solidarity with the victims and no compassion on the terrorists. The western nations have to stand side by side to face this threat.
  17. quote:Al Quaeda must be getting desperate, they don't normally claim responsibility for a bombing afterwards. If I listened correctly to the news, then Al Quaeda seems to have risen to be an idiology, not any more bound to a specific group. That means that every one sick enough having fun with killing/hurting people and wanting to destroy his religon's reputation can claim to be Al Quaeda.
  18. Ah,there we have it: Al-Qaida Claims Responsibilty for Explosions in British Capital
  19. quote:I for one have no idea how they could be so stupid to think that killing innocent people is going to make us see there point...what ever that is.... The real islamist terrorist doesn't want to prove any point...he wants just to kill infidels to get rewarded by his god/or better he believes he would get rewarded.I hope that they will burn in hell as soon as they are dead.
  20. Oh my God..How can one do something like that,killing/hurting innocent civilians? I wonder who has organized this:Either Al-Qaida or militant anti-globalists.Though I'd rather presume Al-quaida. I hope they get these damn b#st*rds.

  22. quote:ah, I remember cursing the bpjs so often for so many castrated games...My dear sparky, don't forget:Censoring is a hard job,but the BJPs guys do it for us,they do it for us *sniff*..we should be thankful
  23. oh no sparky, how could you do that to me.. I tried to forget this ugly german half-life version and I had sucess in that until now...*shudders* Though you have forgotten half-life's scientists who would sit down shaking their heads when killed. The BjPS should have earned a medal for pulling this
  24. quote:In this PANIC to kill "TERRORIST", as a cure all; and under the blanket, that any who oppose us is against us..(thus supportive of those few 9/11 criminals and their few comrads); This Country has become the DEMON they themselves FEAR. One may want to take into account that all the things that happened after 9.11 may be intended by Osama Bin Laden. All these quick victorys(afghanistan, iraq)were on the surface impportant, but the fear, that everyone could be a terrorist,is poisoning the western nations.Once considered an "idol" in things human rights, morality and liberty,it is the people's fear, enforced by demagogic media, that lets them cry for abolishing every of these specific features,or distort them. And it is IMO regression if people are for example being judged by their religion/being judged by their fundamentalist minority. And if someone will say that it goes all about terrorism, not about religon, then please tell me about your first thoughts when you hear about countries having the islam as their state religion. It is for sure difficult to keep calm when seing all these innocent people killed everyday because they were "infidels",but their must be a reason for people doing that(except the human liability to violence). And if there's a cause, then there are means to prevention. Sorry for the rather off-topic post, but I felt it was yet quite approbiate in here.
  25. Oh my,that's a very *different* movie.I don't know but did the robots in the exclusive clip also remind you of the Borg?Anyway, this movie will be surely to creepy for me,considering that I even had very nightmares about the lame spiders from Lost In Space (but that's a looong time ago... )
