  1. I agree with you nomad... but what I was up to say is that there has never been a reasonable masterplan to get to a souvereign european country, just a transferring of moneys and arguing about how much subsidiziation this or that country will get.We also need common, equal rights for every european country, otherwise what is that European Union worth other than an economic alliance,an equal currency for all countrys(without the UK),and the Schengener Contracts and,of course, the avoiding of inner-european war? And the reunification is definetely a concern of the EU as Germany is paying the most in Europe(40 billion Euro now from which we are getting back 20 billion Euro)and we are even going to have to pay more. http://service.spiegel.de/cache/internatio...,348546,00.html It is sure a good system to measure how much a country has to pay by looking at its population, but it doesn't look good for us in regards of our economy strenght(and in regards of the unemplyment rate,we have nearly 9 million people unemplyent causing big holes in the country's finances), as we have an economic growing of 0,6 percent. So that we are having that lot to pay to an Europa which doesn't seem to have the intention to become a "real" country,it's just sucking the blood out of Germany IMHO.
  2. http://service.spiegel.de/cache/internatio...,352874,00.html To be honest I'm shocked.I wonder what they are doing in the European Parliament. It is far too early to let these 2 countrys join the EU, as we still have to fully integrate the countrys of the EU East expansion which just happend the 1. may 2004(cyprus,chzech republic, estonia, hungary, latvia, lithunia, malta, poland, slovakia, slovenia). They are far from being integrated, as 8 of these countrys are not allowed to have their citizens go moving to the older EU-countrys to work there, this will be allowed at the earliest in 7 years.Furthermore, all those countrys are poor, so they don't pay, they are subsidizated.Romania and Bulgaria are more poor, so it will even last longer, till they do not need to be subsidizated any more.Approximately that will cost 44,3 billion euro. And furthermore, as to be read in the link above, there is still corruption and injustice in these countries. Why not wait until they have their problems solved and THEN propose them to join the EU?.Of course it is good to have a big EU, in which the infrastructure is quite similar,as it ensures not to have war anymore between european countrys, but I guess that we are having time and do not need to rush expanding the EU.Especially as we still do not have an EU-constitution, and I guess, this will never happen, as the citizens of France seem to probably reject the constitution.Who can blame them for that? There have been made a lot of mistakes and if the citizens of the Federal Republic of Germany(and other european countrys) would also be allowed to elect if they want the constitution,I guess a lot would reject likewise.Probably me too, as we are not given any explenations by our politicians what they are doing, they seem just to sign every guideline the Parliament of the EU want them to sign, they do not care at all if we,the citizens,do not want them to give away their authority to a third party, which we can barely influence, but which can influence us.
  3. Ok I solved the problem with having to type in the cd-key by using the "Join Multiplayer"shortcut in the start menu, there I was able to properly type in the cd-key.Then I exited, and ran UC sp, which wouldn't ask anymore for the cd-key.
  4. What 6case and Socal said also counts for me... even with changing the different input schemes and layouts it wouldn't work to type in the cd-key.
  5. I must admit, this one was quite funny. Though a bit mean
  6. Quote from Jaguar: "The Roman Catholic Church indeed has a history, but unlike some religions, it has matured to a point where it no longer kills people beause they do not believe as they do. All I am saying is this, people are not interested in the history of the Roman Catholic church, they are interested in the NOW. The church of NOW is what is important to them, and beating them with their history is NOT going to change their mind. It took me quite a while to realize that people are NOT interested in the past of their churches, because they LOVE their religion, with a devotion that is incredible, and an iron will that can very easily turn to anger, and an emotional response against you that is way out of proportion to the offense. I am just trying to give you a little advice from a person that has experienced it, and it is NOT fun....." I guess you are speaking of fundamentalist, religious extremest and other people like that. But these are not the only ones belonging to a religion. Speaking of myself, I am not someone that ignores the past of my church, i'm strongly disgusted what happended in the name of god, (thinking about the inquisition,or the crusades). Furthermore I do NOT blindly follow and accept what is being told by ANY religious leaders. To be honest I do NOT care about what the wordly incarnate of the Roman-Catholic Church(the vatican and the pope)do or say. I am having my own opinion about behaving right to please god. This involves not harming anyone, helping others if needed and similar things.Maybe this would be called heretic by "real"believers, but I still feel like belonging to the Roman-Catholic Church. Also I am a citizen of the Federal Republic of Germany. So let me be proud if a german is elected to be pope. But it doesn't mean more to me. However I don't like it if other people want to tell you what you shall believe or not. This counts for religious AND for non-religous people. As I already said, I have my own opinion about behaving correctly in god's eyes.

Hmm..interesting how religion is good, but when it gets in the way or personal pleasure and good morals, guess what, it's out the door from there on. Soback you're speaking right off my heart... It's always the thing about comfort:let yourself be reedemed but HELL if you would have to change yourself for redemption try criticizing long enough until there is no more demanded but sitting on the couch...
  8. quote:Originally posted by nomad: Yeah ? This guy is of the "jesus domini" style, and wants catholicism supremacy. Wonder how protestant countries will digest it... How exactly do you know this?Any official statement by him saying that? Otherwise: it doesn't matter at all"how protestant countries will digest it".Why would the pope care (or other members of the Roman-Catholic Church)? Why would the pope have to justify anything that he says or does to non-members of the Roman-Catholic Church ?It simply is of NO interest what they say. They don't belong to the church. quote:Originally posted by nomad: The Vatican, an instrument of God ? Maybe, with it's politics, embassies, banks, obscure orders like the Opus Dei, and even satellite organisations like the "loggia P2". The biggest fraud of all times. What the hell has all this to do with using ancient texts as spiritual guidelines ? LMAO... I am definetely neither a fundamentalist nor do I think everything declared by the vatican is an expression of god and should be accepted uncriticized but I think everyone has the right to believe what he wants to believe. And if they have there "obscure orders" and "politcs" and what not, where's the problem?Either you want to believe or not.
  9. I have now tried out the newest Omega drivers as well as Catalyst 4.1 and 4.2 , none of them helped, also I was trying some things like enabling/disabling the Catalyst A.I, changing the AGP speed and other things like that without any significant changes towards the problems. So I guess I will be waiting for the retail version of Uc-AWA, maybe my video card will rather accept it than the demo, or maybe another new catalyst version will solve the problem. What i'm very interested in is if other users in here with ATI Radeon 9800 pro or especially MSI RX9800 PRO TD-128 video cards are having similar problems.(though it doesn't seem like that).
  10. I just can say that this is great news for all of us citizens of the Federal Republic of Germany as the last german pope was elected 482 years ago. Though i'm fearing that Benedict XVI will not be more modern in terms of contraception as Johannes Paul II or in things like abolishing the celibacy or allowing women to be priest in the catholic church;as Benedict XVI is said to be very conservativ.
  11. Ok i tried using the msi drivers from the oldest to the newest but still no difference, the problems still exist.I guess i will now be trying out the Omega drivers.

It doesn't matter whether he adds it or not. The game will use the appropriate shader for the video card. So, its not like its going to use GF3 shaders if the card is a GeForce 6800. quote:Originally posted by paranide: Thanks for the reply but this won't solve my problems with the 2nd demo. The 1.demo is doing fine without the update(as i stated above),i just wanted to track down the beginning of the problems im having in the second demo, and i guess that this Geforce-Fix is both included in the 2nd demo and in the full version of Uc-AWA. I know nothing about your video card, but from what you describe, you are having driver problems. So, try another driver set and go with what works. I don't make drivers and have no control over what the video card manufacturers do. Running the demo with the default config (i.e. don't mess with the settings until you know whats wrong), might be a good start. Ok thanks i'm going to try out other drivers and using the default config.I very appreciate the quick help.
  13. Thanks for the reply but this won't solve my problems with the 2nd demo (i do NOT update the 1. demo with the small 65 mbytes 2nd demo but i'm having the big 2nd demo, those one with 330 mbytes or something like that). The 1.demo is doing fine without the update(as i stated above in my first post),i just wanted to track down the beginning of the problems i'm having in the second demo, and i guess that this Geforce-Fix is both included in the 2nd demo and in the full version of Uc-AWA.
  14. Well as my editing time has elapsed i'm doing a new post. I'm not sure but the problems must have something to do with the shaders.I'm guessing this as i had the problems occur again after i re-installed the UcAWA preview demo#1 and then installed the ucAWA_Preview_Demo1_update1 (wich has an gfx folder with shader files included). (of course i deleted the UcAWA preview demo#2 before doing this)
  15. Ok where to start: §1.if everything that i will say in the next lines is dumb, rubbish or nonesense or has been already solved please delete my post and ban me as i would then deserve it So, that said i can start I have several problems with the UC-AWA preview demo 2 1.only one terrain type(kind of desert) on earth and mars(so no water, no hills ,just flat etc.) 2.no "firing" animation: i fire a weapon and no "flame" is coming out of the gun 3.the external planetary clouds seem nearly too have dissappeared(this may have been changed conciously but in comparission to the external planetary cloud effects in the 1. preview demo it doesn't look so good anymore 4.As Arthur Dent has seen it there is a single white line seperating the sky át night which is definetely NO turret firing as i have followed the line quite half an hour(in a gunship) without getting nearer to an firing turret 5.The game crahes especially when destroying Air-Defense-Vehicles(like X10,X15) Config Screen Resolution 1024x768 Anisothropic Filtering High Environment Mapping On Lightning Quality High DXT Compressed Textures On Optimized Models On Preload Character Models On Visible Damage FX On Object Flight Path Trails Off Object Contrails Type Particle External Planet Cloud Map On To state it i wouldn't have dared to post this if i had this problems in BOTH demos but i encounter these only in the 2nd demo NOT in the 1st demo If needed:I've taken several screenshots from both demos to show what i mean,i just dont know how to post them Furthermore: i dont know about the development of UC-AWA so this could already have been solved so §1 would come to action Thanks in advance
  16. uhm...i'm having these problems since 2.00.21(at least i remember it so), but when i go back to 2.00.20 it is exactly like Giulian Ross described,no problems.
  17. Well..i'm unfortunately having the same problem. It seems as if theres just one terrain set(desert)on earth since this patch.I have noticed this in all INSTAND ACTION Scenarios as well as in ACM and ROAM(where i tried out all races with the Military Commander career on a battlecruiser mk3,mk2 and nightstar(in earth region, launchbase galcom hq) as well as all First Person careers with a launch base on earth).Just in case this is needed:I'm playing on 1024x768 with every setting turned on except for NO OCEAN SHADER and NO CLOUD SHADER.4FSAA and 8AF are turned on but the problem remains no matter if they are disabled or not.I'm also having directX 9c and the latest drivers(ati catalyst 5.3). 18. Well i wouldn't really like to buy a game online as a)i don't feel comfortable with paying it online(i even don't have a credit card...well as i'm still student ) B)i really liked the packaging of universal combat, also i like a "painted"cd more than a cd-r ,so if i had to decide between a 20$ online download or a 50$ game with cd+packaging+manual i'd take the game for 50$
  19. universal combat Ok let's start with the graphics, they are not outstanding but they are quite good regarding that you can fight both in space and on planets( or can have massive assaults without too heavy performance losses. The only thing that disturbs me a bit is the texture flickering and that sometimes yellow or green lines pop up and mess up my screen(but i know that's why there is the tech support ) 2.The game:i just can say great job that's the kind of game i've ever dreamed of,a game where one can nearly do what ever he wants... There are just 4. things which could be improved(in my opinion):1.randomly created quest for every caste in the roam mode(like attacking a diplomat when being assassin) 2.Much more things to trade for!!! 3.The fights between capital ships in space should be much slower,e.g by increasing the shield and armor/hull strength, also the fire rate of the main gun is much too high even at full energy,i guess 1 shot in 3 seconds whould be more appropiate 4.At least i miss a damage model for the assets But apart from this i guess i have found the first game ever that has a long term park on my HD Thanks to the developers for this great game (i'm very looking forward to uc-awa)
