  1. No one said GTA shouldn't exist. And you cannot compare AA and GTA.Or have you seen a recruitment link in GTA for example to join organized crime? In GTA there we have a strict boundary between reality and fiction. In AA the boundary isn't that clear.
  2. Hmmm,I agree with you Cc on this point.I've d/l it too,and it's a quite a nice game as it's for free, but what seems fatal to me,is that reality and game is mixed in this game.Of course, people that are quite sane won't recruit themselves in the army just because they"own"the enemy in the game or the whole army stuff both in the game and on the army page look"cool".But imagine if just 1% of the people that play this game really join the army. And those people could be also sent to iraq or to another battlefield. It's somehow frightening.
  3. I just can say very thank you SC for fixing it. Great work.
  4. Well, the problem is:the average arabian believing in the islam wouldn't trust the back off,he would rather suspect Newsweek being forced by the U.S government to deny the story about the koran. Or he wouldn't be able to read Newsweek at all,and would only have the "translation"done by his religios leader. And why should those be more believing that the story was fake? It is very sad that both sides, the western nations and the (middle)eastern nations have already prejudice against each other, this prevents to establish a culture of tolerating each other,or even exchanging the different aspects of our different ways of living.According to that, even a fake story as printed in NEWSWEEK,can lead to an outburst of violence and hatred.
  5. Step 1:Deleted UC + the game's folder Step 2:Installed UC Step 3:Copied both patches into the game folder Step 4:Applied patch 2.00 Step 5:Applied patch 2.00.20 Step 6:Started IA0111,everythings fine, it would look like that http://img212.echo.cx/img212/4364/uc200209ix.jpg Step 7:Applied patch 2.00.21,the problems appear, it would look like that http://img212.echo.cx/img212/9720/uc200212zc.jpg
  6. I'm not really sure about this but if I'm right, a defragmenter wouldn't help you to have more space on your HD,it just makes the HD used more efficientely,as the defragmenter would"collect"all the scattered files on your HD and bring them together,so that the HD's arm doesn't have to move all over the complete HD to get some data that is needed by an application. To get more space, you would use an disk cleaner tool. Here is a link to both defrag-and disk cleaner tools if you want to use other tools than those included in windows http://www.downloadmix.de/dmix/index.asp?D...+tab%5Fsoftware %2Eactiv%3D1+Order+by+update%5Fdatum+DESC&PageNo=2 or http://www.canadiancontent.net/tech/downlo...ddrive+Tools/1/
  7. Ok I've done the whole thing. 1.deleted uc and the folder 2.applied 2.00 patch after having copied the patch into the game folder 3.I ran IA0111 everything looks fine 4.applied the 2.00.30RC10 patch 5.I ran IA0111,it would look like that http://members.home.nl/wubbema/200302.jpg 6.Then I tried out the Test Scenario IA0917,it would look like that http://img188.echo.cx/my.php?image=photo0004jo.jpg"
  8. Sure, this is of course strange, that just a couple of people seem to have this problem and the majority not.Even you don't have this problem, though you possess the same video card as me(though you don't seem to have an MSI video card). But as I can't remember to have anything done wrong with the whole patching, I guess it can't be wrong to post about it,as there ARE people who do have this kind of problems. And as we didn't made that up out of nothing but spent a lot of time to get this thing solved on our own,but didn't have success. So there is just the way to report it.
  9. I just can fall in with wolfheart. I determined exactly the same way wolfheart uses that the problems started with patch 2.00.21 EVERY patch below this patch would work like it should. Apart from that:I tried the scenario IA0111. It would like the same as you can see it in the picture that marc wubbema made http://members.home.nl/wubbema/200302.jpg And as I said above, this only appears with patch version 2.00.21 and above. Furthermore:I don't know if this might have relevance but: I tried to load for example earthz.3dc with the pte-studio.None of the problems mentioned in this thread would appear. I would urge everyone that EXACTLY has this problem: -only 1 planet default terrain texture(for example a featureless desert on earth) ,so that for example IA0111 would look like the picture I mentioned above. to post in here, stating since which patch version they are experiencing these problems. And please, make sure you have done the whole patching like that http://www.3000ad.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?u...c;f=22;t=000019 and have also checked the patch for possible corruption with the md5 file. So that we can see how many exactly are having this problem and if they are all having the problems since the 2.00.21 patch.
  10. The Universal http://theuniversal.net/ quote:The Universal is a unique, massively-multiplayer online game set in a virtual universe of realtime 3d worlds, owned and run by players. You start in space in a single star system, with a range of worlds to visit and explore. By playing on worlds you can earn galactic credits with which to improve your space vehicle, fly to new star systems and... well, that depends on what you find when you get there....
  11. I'm just wondering what that guy has done with the piece of finger. As he kept it about a few days.Ah well, maybe I don't really want to know...^^
  12. For my taste a bit too much information...
  13. paranide

    Moby

Well, it seems as he would perform quite near the place I am living.Maybe I'm going to pre-order some tickets. If they aren't sold out yet.
  14. paranide

    Moby

After I listened to some of these music tracks I must admit that Moby can perform unplugged quite well...and what astonished me most that even the unplugged version of "lift me up" doesn't lose to much of it's energy that was created through the heavy use of keyboards in the radio version. Though he would have been better off not to let the woman sing, she IMO lowered the quality of the performance
  15. And the moral of this story: Always be careful when you order finger food, there could be more finger than food
  16. quote:Which is better, to die quietly, enslaved and unknown at the whim of a mad dictator or die free at the hands of terrorists before the eyes of the world.Well IMO there is no "better" death. And I never intended to say that saddams regime should have been spared. What I wanted to express is that the civilians in iraq are now more threated than before, and this COULD have been foreseen by the US military.
  17. quote:Last year the hysteria about the hostility toward the United States reached a fevered pitch. Everyone from Jimmy Carter to our Hollywood elite lamented that America had lost its old popularity. It was a constant promise of the Kerry campaign to restore our good name and "to work with our allies." The more sensitive were going to undo the supposed damage of the last four years. Whole books have been devoted to this peculiar new anti-Americanism, but few have asked whether or not such suspicion of the United States is, in fact, a barometer of what we are doing right ÔÇö and while not necessarily welcome, at least proof that we are on the correct trackWell... I just can't see why for example the behavior of the US military in Guantanamo Bay is proof for the "correct track".Or think of Abu Ghraib.Or the incident with the Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena.Or the other nameless civilians getting killed in Iraq every day. Before the Iraq was invaded, at least the civilians were save(though opressed by an brutel regime). Now they are threatened by both the US military and terrorists.AND:though the US is the most powerful country in things military, why should it be allowed to strike other countries preemptively? After WW2, there were the "Nuernberger Processes"(1945-1949).A result of them was a condemnation of every preemptive strike. The U.S government has broken this consens. quote:EU bureaucrats and French politicians routinely caricature Americans, whipping up public opinion against the United States, even as they fly here to profess eagerness to maintain the old NATO transatlantic ties. Is it to our discredit that what Europe has now devolved into does not like the United States?I guess this is done likewise in the U.S. Europe(apart from exeptions) doesn't want to support war wagers, why would that be "whipping up public opinions against the U.S"? quote:In short, who exactly does not like the United States and why? First, almost all the 20 or so illiberal Arab governments that used to count on American realpolitik's giving them a pass on accounting for their crimes. They fear not the realist Europeans, nor the resource-mad Chinese, nor the old brutal Russians, but the Americans, who alone are prodding them to open their economies and democratize their corrupt political cultures. We must learn to expect, not lament, their hostility, and begin to worry that things would be indeed wrong if such unelected dictators praised the United States.Well, surely democracy is a good thing, but the approach of the U.S government, to democratize a country by war or threatening is IMHO the wrong way. If a country is being dictatored, it is its citizens decision if they want to rebel and to get rid of their dicator. quote:The French, on spec, conduct maneuvers with the ascendant Communist Chinese navyI'd like to see a reliable source.
  18. quote:Revise you knowledge of oil markets and find out which share is represented by north sea oil...I didn't say that the oil drilled from the north sea would have a big share in the oil market.I just wanted to express that it is good to know that we in europe also have an alternate(though small) oil source. quote:Do you think that any nation who isn't pro-western and get the nuke has automatically suicidary views ? Assured reciprocical destruction worked for 40 years between the West and the Warschau pact.No I don't think that any of those nations would be then suicidial. But it is most IMO important that Israel remains the superior nation in the Middle East, as it ensures the peace(apart from the problems with the palestinians).Without Israel having detering weaponry, there would always be the threat of war in the Middle East. quote:Assured reciprocical destruction worked for 40 years between the West and the Warschau pact.Unfortunately this is a world populated by human beings.Superiority IS needed.Without a nation that is far superior than others, we wouldn't have had already this long time with peace(except from africa, as no one seems really to bother preventing its nations to slaughter eac other). Now that earth's most powerful country has committed several faults in the iraq war(thinking of abu ghraib), it's image isn't that bright shining anymore, it has lost the morale dominance(but still possessing the highest military sthrenght). The consiquences are fatal:Now that the giant USA is weakend, now that his doings are questioned, other countries are seeing their chance and go in the offense, like china and norkorea.IMHO this poses a threat to the whole world.
  19. I also found a very nice ,turn-based,space-sim. http://www.nbsd.de/smugglers3.html I downloaded the demo and had a lot of fun quite 14 hours, now I'm very thinking about if I should buy it(in addition to ucAWA of course )
  20. Well we are not THAT dependant from the arabian, oil exporting countries, nomad. We still have oil in the north sea.And we also have russia, with their massive oil ressources. And to not help Israel survive by it remaining the sole nuclear power in the Middle East just because of the price for Oil would be the very wrong way.
  21. I hope the Congress will sale the bunker busters to Israel, so that Isreal would be able to destroy possible nuclear weapon facilitys of Iran,as it is most urgent that Israel remains the sole nuclear power in the Middle East.If that wouldn't have been this way, then Israel could have been destroyed a long time ago, as for example in august 1967 there was a declaration of the arabian countrys that they would neither accept Israel, nor negotiate peace.Until now, only Jordania and Egypt have negotiated peace with Israel, so that the other arabian countries can still be a threat to Israel.
  22. Thanks Jaguar Well that saved the day
  23. Uhm, isn't it a bit strange that though i'm living in the most north province of germany, the news didn't say anything about this? But maybe this is a conspirancy, who knows
  24. I'm no specialist in this but what sounds very unbelievable to me is that this ammunition would be like miniature nuclear weapons, and that one could see the mushroom of an atomic explosion. What also sounds quite strange to me is, If that would be an "small" atomic exposion, why would "all the goats [...] be dead, ten meters, mangled, turned inside out"?I thought that , if you are in the center of an nuclear explosion, there wouldn't remain to much of you, most probably just ashes. Also I thought there was a convention about ABC weapons, so it wouldn't be allowed to use such an ammunition. But please correct me if I am wrong or didn't get the point.
  25. I am wondering how he couldn't be aware of flies crawling in his ear?Maybe they came insidiously when he was asleep... I guess I'm gonna buy some earplugs now, just to be sure
