if SC decides to...it won't be Casey at bat...it'll be him
-
I'll still sit back and watch the show for it here yet. Exerpt: The Egyptian autocracy may have received $57 billion in aggregate American aid over the last three decades. But that largess still does not prevent the Mubarak dynasty from damning indigenous democratic reformers by dubbing them American stooges. ... end exrpt "American stooges"........it won't change though for a long time if ya ask ME. Contracts are signed, and things like this have been going on for so long, it's all the US government knows how to do things anymore really...

//Thats one thing i like about this board...little tolerance for screw ups and dumb questions..lol // heh....how TRUE that is... (dunno, guess I have more patience with it than SC?) if SC reads that...i'm prolly gonna get a for that one

Why should I join a fleet?
Shadow5731 replied to Ben Zwycky's topic in General Multiplayer Fleet Discussions
Now THAT is something fresh and a wealth of info too... -
Well Casey, Remo will see that and advise you on it, or correct if necessary I think there...wait for HIS word on it though...
-
just make sure you are planning/ have registered in the fleet data base too (somewhere along those lines atleast...I did all that before, THEN was accepted to start the training for Prime)
-
Ok Partyboy...(wow...2 at the time the site went down temporarily?) hopefully it's a very soon welcome to you as well to Prime then! First step is register in the Fleet Database HERE...preferrably with the same name as your using here to cut down on confusion as well. For the rest of the steps, RemoWilliams' post to Codeman (at the top of page 2 in this thread...AS WELL though, using the same name) are the rest of the instructions (referring you there so it's not in this thread more than it allready is)...and patience for the moment too, Primes servers down for some reason, so check back soon, then you'll be on the way.
-
That's ok Casey...the sites down at the moment, but Remo or Marvin will make it official for you. I'd say spend the weekend reading through it all and check back soon...we'd love to have you in Prime!

Doom 4: End of the Game Industry?
Shadow5731 replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in PC Gaming & Technology
Gah...hit the link and couldn't stomach that beyond the first page actually. Almost seems like he's gettin' tired of his job there or something... -
eh...true there...I'll just go the pace you do Marvin:D
-
I confirm Ben's findings as well...nothing in the search comes up before 30 days ago.
-
OMFG........(got half way down and had to stop to clean my coffee off the screen here) ...what an idiot!
-
That sounds awesome here...I'm presently living in a tin-can of an apartment that the bed barely fits into the bedroom, and the livingroom is about the same size as the kitchen (glad I'm the cook here, or wife n I would NEVER get any food prepped )
-
I personally dunno folks...'proof' keeps popping up here and there today even, but the curious question still arises EVERY time: Why are those pictures and video always in black and white?
-
Ready to go! Will check the assignment area in Prime for it (Ijust hope that I can complete it all without too much problem)
-
noobie to the posts....and yes, partially to UC too (though it's been a few months experience)...still caught me goin "WTF?"
-
Thanks Denny...sent a PM to Remo on this (affter a lot of testing too), and I'll leave it in his hands to decide if I CAN go ahead and enter the training cycle here before I get the newer video card.

EVE has that stuff in it? Glad I didn't get that game then... Pop-ups online are bad enough, you don't need crap like that showing up in a game you bought FROM them too...and SC? I'm glad you don't plan on doing that to us.

Restarted a game here, and low-an-behold...raiders show up all around me as I'm about ready to go through to Pluto for some trading...my people we're probably thinking "Whoa...never saw THIS comming fisrt minute out". Soon after dispatching over 8 total by the time that skirmish was over, I then sent out Lace on a comfy cargo sweep of the area (she seems to be good about it...don't go taking off to far-away bases or anything it seems most the time), and I goto Tactical and get all the Marines out checking the ship after their briefing. NOT ONE SECOND after I give the final orders to them all, than what do ya know? You guessed it, an intruder is detected onboard. Evidentally it seemed, that ol' intruder got himself a second row seat right behind me...because when I heard that, I went straight to Tacops to find I was allready down to 95LF, and 1 other officer was starting to get pummelled as well. That intruder didn't seem to like the idea that I had a shotgun on me or something, and VERY soon, left the bridge though without killing me or anyone else. Meanwhile after the intruder had left there (to show me what kind of an intruder he really was), I got Lace back onboard (she was around 10k out from me when the intruder/theif got onboard) and shut down the Launch Controls finally, then ordered the CC to Pluto, and went right back to Tacscan. That lil' thief was just leaving Crews Quarters 1 by that time and THEN had the gall to go into #2 as well, but first took a pot-shot at a medic before going in. Meanwhile, 1 Marine was coming that way and evidentally saw him go into the quarters and headed directly there to get into a skirmish. That Marine was a gutsy one it seemed...injured the intruder down to 33LF, then hung around the Quarters for a moment after the intruder left (I'm guessing is what led up to what happened next there)...all of a sudden, it seemed like EVERY smart Marine was heading to this thief including the dumb ones but 4 of them! That Marine that hung out in the Quarters had evidently noticed something missing, for he shot out of there and almost caught up to that thief by the time he got to the shuttle, AND all but 4 finally got INTO the shuttle before the intruder died! He had almost EVERYTHING but the kitchen sink with him too...I should know, he had shuttle 3 almost 1/4 full of stuff, along with a magazine that I don't remember Lace picking up either in her cargo sweep. Things that make you wonder why that Marine caught up to the intruder so fast and the rest seemed to just swarm him eh?

I'm reading it here...looks great too

Sorry to burst your bubble JUST yet Denny, but it's gonna be till I get a newer video card...(look in my sys-info and see why) (Gives heavy explanation on why I can play at home, but can't get online or OTR a Base). ...nut-shelling it, video doesn't have something the game needs (remind me to shoot Intel too k?) When I DO fully meet the req-ments, I'll write back here "When Ready" (reminds me of my military days....was our units slogan)
-
Done in both forums, BUT, will need a few days to get Mediacom's firewalling data so I can connect to a server here...they're everything but a touchy SOB when it comes to something like this
-
Willing and ready to join...all registrations done as of this post, and will check back after reviewing all the ZIP files I had to download as well. (the Pending will either be removed or completely edited back to my old one with just sys@info upon your word)

Universal Combat - First Impressions
Shadow5731 replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Universal Combat Series
May as well put in my .5 cent worth on UC... An easy simulation? Can end up being that way IF you focus and actually imerse yourself into it, reminding yourself constantly as well in ROAM scenarios, that you ARE infact, thrown into it, and it's up to you to live or die in it. Reviewers, when it came out, flunked and really should have their heads examined CLOSELY since they either didn't want to evaluate it on the scale it should have been, or were too 'babied' with other simulations or games to really see the difference. Sure, I've played it off and on over the past few months and FINALLY registered it, let alone actually sat down and worked hard on not pile-driving myself into a planet or moon. I'm also positive that it'll take a good sit-down with it for a few months to get a good grasp on most of the aspects this simulation holds. Remember too, it has the capability of catering to a vast majority of people and styles of play, and allows you to change your style and do anything you want in it (IE one day you feel like ripping apart a few enemies...the next, maby you just want to do some trading and make some cold, hard credits there) Graphics: Given the sheer size of the 'world' your in, they are better than most, if not all...lets see PS2 do this on their system while we watch their systems cry like a baby at all it'd have to compute Interaction with it to do the things you think you need to do: Some have complained and want it easier!?!?! You CAN NOT just click your mouse once or twice and expect to get done what you want to...the simulations got waaaay too much it's capable of to even TRY to put that kind of simplicity into it. It takes time to learn it and get used to the VOLUME of whats possible to control in it. Our own race sure didn't get to orbit or the Moon without having to figure out a few things along the way A plus AND a minus here....PRICE: Many should have LOVED it only being $19.95 ...not even a half cent for everything you can do in it if you ask me (and the value is probably lower for everything that can be done, just an example there) The bad part of the $19.95 thing is the kicker...one friggin man works his tail off on something of this scale, possibly hoping for $39.95 even, only to get reamed in the backside. If I bought another simulation at this pure MAGNITUDE and scale...I wouldn't mind putting out $100+ for it because I myself have only seen 1 single game that comes CLOSE to this scale....Vampire The Masquerade-Bloodlines....and IT IS LIMITING to what you can do in it, unlike Universal Combat which allows you to do what you want, just about WHEN you want too. Only 2 downfalls I've met in the simulation so far is that it adheres, nay, demands to be at a real-time experience...your starting off, so are your crew with you...minor addition to it to compensate for it (if even possible) add in a choice of how smart you'd LIKE your people to be with you...not running around like the bobble-head you are, even after a week of simulation-time play The other minus is my personal experience with actually being able to view a few occurances, BUT...that's due to my own graphics chip in the computer...can't bomb the heck out of a planet yet till I get a card to throw into the thing....clean exit though after the computer goes "HICK-UP: You want me to do WHAT?!?!?""
