IIRC station beams do something like 2500 damage every second.

each shot does 50 damage according to the settings in the default ojbdefs.scr.

Works fine here. All I did was hit D and the throttle auto adjusts to try to match target speed.

Anyone else tried Star Wars Galaxies?
Eclipse replied to Scrivener's topic in PC Gaming & Technology
A friend of mine picked it up and so far I've not seen any major playability issues. It was quite funny watching him run away from the nest he had to destroy because there were too many critters for him to handle and after finally loosing them getting chased by more creatures and finally getting to the city where he was promptly shot at and ended up running through half the city to loose the people chasing him. then he went to Tatooine and was promptly incapacitated by a womp rat and while lying there saw some other poor fellow getting chased by a greater womprat. The only problem he seems to have had so far is getting credits and finding a group to join. -

As the rules go, ANY modifications to the game using the GBS tool MUST contain the modified source files. In this case, the OBJDEFS.SCR and/or OBJCLASS.SCR files. BUT, since GBS2 has not been released to the public, I can see why he didn't include the source files. And he shouldn't. It should only be available to testers (if they ask for it). Alright, Testers PM me if you want the .scr

Have you tied landing in a fighter?

Acouple of questions I couldn't find elsewhere..
Eclipse replied to TopSpeed's topic in Universal Combat Series
the missiles fired with FATAL have the same guidance logic as normal. They don't magically change when they are assigned a FATAL. FATAL just helps by being able to launch a slew of missiles at several different targets all at once. -
Do a search for hm on theforums... great stories.

Well I started working around in GBS and decided to go rebalance all the weapons (you have ALOT of patience SC) and came up with this. Fighters are no longer Uberships and stations have a bit more varience in their abilities depending on class (pixan is the weakest). And watch out for the super carriers If anyone wants to give this a shot I'm more than happy to take suggestions on balancing it better. you can get it here

Sometimes - if you're unlucky and paying attention to a station when an ODS comes into range, well then. thats why I always try to park with the station BETWEEN me and the ODS

Well, it's been a while since I tried. I guess I can try installing it again. I just remembered that it didn't want to run under windows 2000 pro after I upgraded. If it will work with windows 2000 pro then I'll try again. I mean, bc3k is still real cool. But I don't think it works on the NT kernel since it was designed as a protected DOS environment on Windows 95/98 or something like that..... Not sure of the details. Product info says its for win95/98 too. Ok, I was able to get the game to run ok under WinXP pro but there were some mouse issues.

Look in the TRADCOM/INFO screen when docked at a station/base. I just checked the TRADCOM/INFO @ GalcomHQ and Genesis but it only gives the mineral densities for Earth, what I was looking for were values for Earth's Moon. What I have assumed was that the mineral densities were the same for all planets/moons in a particular region. I was hoping to either prove or disprove this theory by finding if the mineral densities were set in a .scr file. However I have not located them so I guessed they were hard coded and not accessible from GBS and didn't think it was worth wasting your time to ask if the values were in there.

oh that was after the price cut... I think it used to be around 6000 form Maya complete and 10,000 for Maya unlimited. now Maya Unlimited is the 6000 buck one and 3dSMax last I looked was running a good 4000. As I said before you can get pretty far using Blender and Milkshape both of which are free. if the site hasn't changed it should be www.blender.nl

Ship to ship combat: easier than I thought?
Eclipse replied to kschang's topic in General Discussions
it's usually not the one or two enemies you kill at first that gets you, just the wave upn wave of reinfocements and those blasted cloaked ships popping out at inopportune time... usually right about the time you hear the "we've run out of plutonium" message and the nearest friendly station is about 5 jumps away. -
HMMM.... you may have to buy another one from a station to get it working again. I'm not sure if this was changed. Originally you would zoom to the weapon and order a shuttle to pick it up.
