  1. To all interested parties, I have begun the process of rebuilding the Defense Wing website! I am pretty happy with my efforts so far as I managed to get a Crew Roster database (flat file CGI) up and running! It's not much to look at so far, so just bear with me. ------------------ Commander Josh Dilvorn GCV Conquest, ISSHQ (Saturn) Wing Leader - ISS Fleet Defense Wing Home "Honour is what no man can give you, and no man can take away"
  2. I went along to this movie thinking that it would be a Cliffhanger 2, but I was pleasantly surprised by this cool movie. I recommend put this on your list of must-see movies.
  3. Hmm... That sucks, now to see if I can find all the files again. If not, guess I'll have to start from scratch! Grrr! ------------------ Commander Josh Dilvorn GCV Conquest, ISSHQ (Saturn) Wing Leader - ISS Fleet Defense Wing Home "Honour is what no man can give you, and no man can take away"
  4. I would like to take this time to officially welcome Commander Markus Korivak to the Defense Wing. I will be updating the Defense Wing HQ website with your detail over the next few days. ------------------ Commander Josh Dilvorn GCV Conquest, ISSHQ (Saturn) Wing Leader - ISS Fleet Defense Wing Home "Honour is what no man can give you, and no man can take away"
  5. Korivak, First of all, welcome to the ISS Fleet and the Defense Wing! Now down to business... IMO the second sig you tested looks the best, the one with the compressed websites. My only suggestion is of a mere cosmetic nature and that is to insert a space between ISSHQ and (Saturn) on the second line so that it looks like: GCV Norfolk (pending commission), ISSHQ (Saturn) As for the Defense Wing motto, we'll be using the one that is in my sig until I think of or find something better. ------------------ Commander Josh Dilvorn GCV Conquest, ISSHQ (Saturn) Wing Leader - ISS Fleet Defense Wing Home "Honour is what no man can give you, and no man can take away"
  6. I can't speak from everyone, but maybe it has something to do with an intersection of busy lives and an immense anticipation of the release of BCM! ------------------ Commander Josh Dilvorn GCV Conquest, ISSHQ (Saturn) Wing Leader - ISS Fleet Defense Wing Home "Honour is what no man can give you, and no man can take away"
  7. I've got a state of the art 8086 PC XT with a huge 640k of RAM (who's ever going to need more that 640k of RAM?) a 360k FDD and a huge 20Mb HDD! Man this is such a killer system, do you think it will run BCM on low graphics settings? [This message has been edited by Josh Dilvorn (edited 11-02-2000).]
  8. Sorry guys, I have been and will have to be scarce for a while. I'm pretty busy at the moment as my course is just about to finish up for the year, add to that, my CDROM stuffed up right at the time I need to reinstall Windows. If you need to talk to me about anything it will probably be quicker to use email [email protected] ------------------ Commander Josh Dilvorn GCV Conquest, ISSHQ (Saturn) Wing Leader - ISS Fleet Defense Wing Home "Honour is what no man can give you, and no man can take away"
  9. Yea!! I got approved too!! ------------------ Commander Josh Dilvorn GCV Conquest, ISSHQ (Saturn) Wing Leader - ISS Fleet Defense Wing Home "Honour is what no man can give you, and no man can take away"
  10. There's a flip side to that, even if it is a little off topic, and that is; "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt." ------------------ Commander Josh Dilvorn GCV Conquest, ISSHQ (Saturn) Wing Leader - ISS Fleet Defense Wing Home "Honour is what no man can give you, and no man can take away"
  11. Jamont, If you remember, Ristar set up threads for each of the wings. If you go to the Intel and Espionage one, the first post says quote:This is an area for all Intel and Espionage Wing Issues can be voiced and worked on. Wouldn't this suit your needs? ------------------ Commander Josh Dilvorn GCV Conquest, ISSHQ (Saturn) Wing Leader - ISS Fleet Defense Wing Home "Honour is what no man can give you, and no man can take away"
  12. 1227 hours, June 20, 3008 Unknown location Terra, Sol A small herd of deer are grazing in a parched field. The sun is high in the sky, beating down mercilessly on the dry land below. Without warning a small stone begins rattling in the ground, the effect of small vibrations in the ground. Suddenly one of the deer raises itÔÇÖs head to the west, sniffing frantically at the air. Within moments the rest of the herd begin doing the same. As the ground starts to shake more violently, the herd take flight to the north leaving the small stone, which is now beginning to jump up and down. Within seconds, a detachment of six military vehicles thunder by followed not long after by four low flying Zodiacs. As the distance to the ground vehicles close, the Zodiacs suddenly pull up and level out at five hundred feet. Seconds later each craft releases a single missile. Without warning the vehiclesÔÇÖ formation breaks, with each veering off on a new course. But it is to late; each missile easily locks on to the hot exhaust fumes of individual vehicles. In a vain attempt to out manoeuvre the missiles, each vehicle swerves and turns. Within a matter of seconds three of the vehicles are hit, exploding in a fireball of fuel and hot metal. The fourth gets a lucky break, swerving violently at the right moment and causing the missile to impact on the ground. Wasting no time, the other two vehicles send their reply to the Zodiacs by launching a volley of surface to air missiles. In response, the Zodiacs bank and dive, sending up a cloud of dust behind them along with countermeasures. Most of the missiles lose their targets and detonate harmlessly, but one unlucky craft is struck on the left wing and sent spinning into the ground, exploding spectacularly as it hits. The remaining three Zodiacs hit the afterburners and go after the two mobile SAM launchers. They are flying too low and too quickly for the SAMs to get a lock. When they are within range the Zodiacs each fire a burst of T2 laser fire, which easily cripples the vehicles. ÔÇ£Blue four to blue leader. IÔÇÖve lost that last hostile, are you reading anything.ÔÇØ ÔÇ£Negative blue four. Blue squad prepare for turn to 185 and climb to 1000 feet.ÔÇØ The squadron leader, Mitch West, didnÔÇÖt wait for any replies. He was used to the men under his command following orders as soon as they were given. When the fighters levelled out at 1000 feet they each performed a radar scan of the area. ÔÇ£Blue four to blue squad, IÔÇÖm still not getting anything over here.ÔÇØ ÔÇ£Blue three to blue four. Me either, itÔÇÖs almost like it just disappeared.ÔÇØ West keyed the mike on his commlink, ÔÇ£Affirmative.ÔÇØ He then switched to another frequency, and spoke again, ÔÇ£Blue leader to FTC, please respond.ÔÇØ After a slight pause, a response came, ÔÇ£This is FTC, please continue blue leader.ÔÇØ ÔÇ£We have neutralised the majority of the bogies however we are not reading the last vehicle on our radar. Please advise a further course of action.ÔÇØ Several seconds past without a response, West was starting to get impatient, ÔÇ£Blue leader, transferring new waypoint data, please stand by.ÔÇØ ÔÇ£Acknowledged.ÔÇØ As the West switched back to the squadÔÇÖs frequency, his NAV system began beeping and flashing a small icon in the top right corner, indicating that new data had been received. West, using his finger, touched icon and the screen changed to a map of the area showing the new waypoints, which lead back to the base. ÔÇ£Blue leader to blue squad, new orders received, move to standard cruise formation and stay on my six.ÔÇØ With that, the squad leader locked in the new bearing and slammed his throttles forward. The small fighter lurched forward, followed shortly after by the two wing-men. ***** Anyone and everyone feel free to join in, you can play any part you wish, such as one of the bad guys in the last armoured vehicle or even someone back at the friendly base. I would like to keep this planetside but if it ventures out into space I won't a mind great deal. [This message has been edited by Josh Dilvorn (edited 10-04-2000).]
  13. Would I be right in thinking that a pilot must hold at least the rank of Major to be in command of a Fighter Squadron? ------------------ Commander Josh Dilvorn GCV Conquest, ISSHQ (Saturn) Wing Leader - ISS Fleet Defense Wing Home "Honour is what no man can give you, and no man can take away"
  14. Just an idea, but perhaps there could also be a specialist marine group for really out there missions, black ops and such. These will be the best of the best from the ISS Fleet Marine Command and will come under either CIOPS or Intel wing. This will mean that marines who are in the ISS Marine command will basically be left with: security force on carriers etc. planetary defense -- as in base security etc and any other op/posting that you can think ofLet me know what you think of this idea. ------------------ Commander Josh Dilvorn GCV Conquest, ISSHQ (Saturn) Wing Leader - ISS Fleet Defense Wing Home "Honour is what no man can give you, and no man can take away" [This message has been edited by Josh Dilvorn (edited 10-04-2000).]
  15. Congrats Major and welcome to the fleet. I look forward to seeing you around in MP. ------------------ Commander Josh Dilvorn GCV Conquest, ISSHQ (Saturn) Wing Leader - ISS Fleet Defense Wing Home "Honour is what no man can give you, and no man can take away"
