Hello,

I have never posted here before but I have been following up on the forums for the pas few months. I'm so very excited about this game, as you all are.

I had an interesting idea for a mod. I think it would be cool if someone could mod more FP items, such as cloaking units and what not. Maybe a vision unit like in the movie predater. I think it would be cool to send in an 'elite' predator so to speak on an enemy base to take out a couple key targets then move in with the rest of the force. So hopefully someone who knows how to mod will do this.

anywayse, I can't wait till this game is released!!!

interesting notion, but I think you'd have to modify the actual renderer to do something like that...I'm probably wrong though.

I do know that there is already a night vision system in the game, but from what I gather, it's not a thermal system though, it's a light amplification system....like the green monochrome images that they kept showing during Desert Storm.

If GBSII has the ability to create a thermal system, then it would be a neat effect....however I hardly see the point, at least until GCO is made, due to the fact that building interiors haven't been incorporated.

Then again, what's to stop you from learning GBSII and creating the interiors?

Interesting that you are wanting to make a mod of BCM before it's even been released yet.

Nice thought though.

Speaking of interiors, I had an insight on creating building interiors today. Anyone play Starsiege: Tribes? You may have noticed that, in the bases, the base itself is NOT part of the map per se, but rather a floating object. All the "rooms" in the bases are sculpted out of the model itself, kind of like the cargo bay in the model of the BC MK2.

I was thinking that it would be relatively simple to apply this to BCM, just create new building models with internal levels built into the model.

Well, over the years of my computer gaming experience I have sort of been putting together the 'perfect' game that I would love to play. So for the only one that has come close, with free form open-ended gameplay, with an FP shooter with many persanol item, maybe a few artifact FP items and the ability to sail the stars in command of a ship, and even fly a fighter! damn there is no game that even comes close. Than BCM ofcourse. Well I'm sure many of you feel the same way, but all this anticipation is building up in me so I'm going crazy and just have to write about it.

R_Wilco - I think you'll find that due to the way the building models are designed in BCM, you'll find that the the interiors cannot be a single model, but a series of attached parts....at least that's how I build models anyway...at this time I don't think it's possible to 'mold' objects as I think you are suggesting.

Basically you would need to make modifications to the exteriors as well, to accomodate windows and doors, and then there are are multiple floors to some of the buildings, etc. Let's not forget about matching the textures, and sclae...It's a big job.

Designing and then building models is not necessarily easy...especially if you are looking for functionality and a design that actually fits with the universe in which it is set.

However, it would be very cool to see wildly different concepts for different cultures, rather than having all the buildings in the entire game looking basically the same with a few altered textures....in my opinion, that's cheating, but you have to keep in mind being able to play it too.

Well, I don't know much about modeling...I guess one of those posts where I was half-awake

Wow Luc, I am VERY impressed...except that you called it the "Imperator" class and not IMPERIAL class, which it's normaly called

well, as a Starwars fan, I feel I must rebutt.

In the movies, it was called AN Imperial Stardestroyer, but it is an Imperator Class or type ship.

all vehicles have classifications.

You must also realize that it is not the Tyderium CLASS Shuttle either, but the NAME of the Shuttle that the Rebels stole in Return of the Jedi.

oh and thanks, I'm working very hard on that model.

As another Star Wars fan, I feel I must counter-rebutt.

There are approximately three Star Destroyer classes: Victory, Imperial, and Imperial II.

I've never heard of an Imperator class.

In any case, I agree with you about the Tyderium issue (it was a Lambda class shuttle).

I am forced to disagree, I've played X-wing, Tie Fighter, XvT, and X-Wing Alliance, and in all of them, it is the IMPERIAL class

So there
