Scotters Posted November 24, 2001 Report Posted November 24, 2001 Every time I try to take a ship to a planet or send a fighter into a planet the game locks up hard. I'm not sure if this is a video card issue or not so that is why I posted here. I have played the game for up to an hour in space with no problems, but anything on a planet cause a lockup in minutes. Here are my specs P3 1mhz 511 mb ram (1 mb dedicated to crappy Intel 810 video card which is disabled.) ATI Radeon 32 mb PCI card 55.8 gb harddrive with 36. 9 gb freeI have direct x 8.1 installed and the latest patch installed. I have followed the faq for my video card except I have not messed with the drivers because I am not sure how to go about this with out messing up the computer. I want to make sure its a video card issue before I do that. I'm afraid of messing with the drivers because this computer has an intel 810 video card and it was a nightmare disabling it and getting the computer to accept the Radeon card.If I need new drivers exactly what should I do?[ 11-24-2001: Message edited by: Gallion ]
Cmdr Nova Posted November 24, 2001 Report Posted November 24, 2001 Another ATI board. Good.ATI Support SiteYou can download the latest ATI drivers there, they have a list of the products, and you just click on yours and put in the OS and it should point you to the latest driver for your Radeon.Hehe, I've also got an old Intel 810 I don't use on this system.....I seriously think it's your drivers. See if that helps.Rendering assistance is one thing Nova, Keep the snide remarks to yourself TTFN[ 11-24-2001: Message edited by: Gallion ]
Scotters Posted November 24, 2001 Author Report Posted November 24, 2001 Down loading drivers now. I assume if I follow the instructions my old Intel video card won't wake up and try to take over and become the primary card again?
Scotters Posted November 25, 2001 Author Report Posted November 25, 2001 I installed the new drivers, and everything works great now. Thanks.
Gallion Posted November 25, 2001 Report Posted November 25, 2001 Excellent - closing this thread.TTFN
