Matt Steudl Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 these are my system specs as per the device manager, these are verbatim: S3 ProSavageDDR video card, AMD athlon XP 1800+ processor, avance AC 97 for VIA ® Audio Controller and a n HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8400B and i am running off of windows XP home the first issue i shall address is BCMs tendency to randomly crash, this happens at various points throughout the game especially after, before and during warp. the game always crashes once an object is destroyed and explodes in audible vicinity when i am in space. (e.g. my firestorm will be assisting galcom hq in warding off insurgents, raiders or what have you and a craft will explode. then the game crashes) the second issue i wish to address is the V 1.09.01 patch will not load properly. i patch the game in the default BCM directory, where i have installed the game. i get a message that says it is the incorrect version...or something like that...anyway, the intro movie does not show and i have not fiddled with the command line yet. and as an added need for knowledge, how do i get the playmod files to work? that is all, any help here will be appreciated. command your craft safely, and if you see the big man you're probly dead cause you didn't do what i said.
Spindoktor Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 Before requesting tech. support, its important to read and do what this says. Are you possibly trying to apply the BCM patch to BCM Gold? Also, I think you might be jumping the gun on the playmod thing. Assuming you are a noob, you have much to learn before you should be messing around with playmod. Also, read the troubleshooting FAQ for the version of BCM you have. You might find the fix there. For example, you can find out how to skip the opening movie so you don't have to deal with missing Indeo codecs.
Eclipse Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 After that try installing the indeo drivers.
CaptnKarob Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 quote:Originally posted by Eclipse: After that try installing the indeo drivers. DEFINITELY! Matt, I had the same problems you are describing. Installing the Indeo codecs fixed everything.
Matt Steudl Posted September 11, 2003 Author Report Posted September 11, 2003 ok, the indeo codecs were installed prior to the installation of BCM, no it is not BCMG i am trying to patch...i only found out that BCMG existed a week after i got the game home. and as far as being a noob, i am not, i know what playmod does, and what my interaction is. i follow the instructions provided with playmod, and the program genereates a Blank bcconfig file after i load up the desired saved game. it's from that point that i cannot figure out. even though i try to apply the info from the bcmconfig.
Matt Steudl Posted September 11, 2003 Author Report Posted September 11, 2003 and i apologise if i sound stupid at timew during the next few days, i have an extremely bad cold and my brain won't work properly from time to time

You have NO business posting about UNSUPPORTED game modding when you are requesting tech support. This thread will be deleted when I get back, since you're not serious about obtaining tech support.
Matt Steudl Posted September 11, 2003 Author Report Posted September 11, 2003 i am serious about getting tech support, the main reason i started this thread was to find out how to fix the patch. otherwise i would not have bothered.

There's nothing wrong with the patch. And there are several threads (in this same forum) about stuff like this anyway. No need for a new topic.
Supreme Cmdr Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 Matt, please stop creating duplicate topics. The patch works, if you apply it correctly and as indicated in the FAQ and on countless threads here. So, the problem is probably not the patch, but your system.
nsorens Posted September 24, 2003 Report Posted September 24, 2003 I am not having any luck with the patch, either. The game (BCM, not BCMG) runs fine before I install the patch, but after the patch is installed, I only get as far as the initial splash screen (which, I noticed, is not the "SafeDisc" one that appears pre-patch). I watched the process list in the Win2K Task Manager--the program simply quits without an error message about a second after the initial splash screen disappears.

Means you didn't install it properly. Read the FAQ
Matt Steudl Posted October 23, 2003 Author Report Posted October 23, 2003 mind if i ask how to properly install it? i installed the game in it's default directory, so...yeah...stuff
Matt Steudl Posted October 23, 2003 Author Report Posted October 23, 2003 altright that was a stupid question so just ignore it whilst i slap myself upside the head
Supreme Cmdr Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 quote:Originally posted by Matt Steudl: altright that was a stupid question so just ignore it whilst i slap myself upside the head heh. Anyway, any luck getting it up and running? If the game runs fine when first installed from CDROM, but doesn't after applying a patch, it means that patch was not applied according to the FAQ instructions.
Matt Steudl Posted October 24, 2003 Author Report Posted October 24, 2003 after faq instructions i get them bcconfig, bcsetup, etc., etc., etc. files...do i delete the same older files? (bcmconfig, bcmsetup, blah blah blah)
Supreme Cmdr Posted October 24, 2003 Report Posted October 24, 2003 Can you n00bs please STOP creating new forum threads!! The next person to do it, is getting banned from the site. We DO NOT tolerate that nonsense around here. If your game won't start/run, READ the FAQ. Then post in THIS thread ONLY.
Matt Steudl Posted October 24, 2003 Author Report Posted October 24, 2003 ok, i patch according to the faq, i does what it says and the patched game is not running...the safedisc screen is not appearing, so what do i do now?
Supreme Cmdr Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 quote:Originally posted by Matt Steudl: ok, i patch according to the faq, i does what it says and the patched game is not running...the safedisc screen is not appearing, so what do i do now? Well, I dunno what could be happening. You probably have some sort of problem on your system because installing and applying a patch is really no brainer and is quite straightforward if you follow the steps outlined in the FAQ.
Matt Steudl Posted October 25, 2003 Author Report Posted October 25, 2003 i've checked my system, and the thing is solid as a brick
