martinstretton Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 I am playing as Terran Military Commander,my question is after picking up several cargo pods I now find myself with 8-10 illegal items, where can I sell them? Every illegal s/station I go to does not have the drop down menu for illegal items.
Wolferz Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 Best bet is to eject them. Access this through Logistics. Cargo/Illegal items.
Supreme Cmdr Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 Which station did you go to that didn't have this drop-down menu? What race/caste/career are you playing? As Wolferz said, you can eject them or if you are playing Terran/Military, you can just dock at GALCOMHQ where they will be confiscated. And you'll be issued a violation
martinstretton Posted March 6, 2003 Author Report Posted March 6, 2003 I am Terran Military Primary Base Galcom The Bases I Have Tried Are Barrin,Zerrin and Majora. I am using the Roam scenario My version is v1.0.08R32(06.01.03)
Supreme Cmdr Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 The latest version of the game is 1.08.33 You can't trade in illegal items at bases that don't allow them. Its in the manual.
Guest MIKE113 Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 As a Terran/Military Commander I know of no bases to trade Illegal items. As an Insurgent there are several, Khan being one. To avoid a violation for having contraband cargo, put all your Illegal items in a cargo pod and stash them on a Planet with a shuttle or transporter, and pick them up later.
Kalshion Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 you can trade illigel items at illigel stations.. look in the appendix please its listed there
Papi Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 Trading illegal items as terran/military don't work in any of the stations, no matter if the illegal items are allowed or not in the station. I've been under impression that it works as designed. Although it would add some more to terran/military career if it would be possible to trade illegal items in illegal stations IMO. Now I simply toss all illegal items away as soon as my shuttles collects them.

For e.g. Sygan allows the trading of illegal items. Try there.

Papi Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 It seems that all military castes are unable to trade illegal items in any of the illegal stations. The Illegal items button is missing whenever I choose any of the military castes, even I'm on the station that allows illegal items.
martinstretton Posted March 8, 2003 Author Report Posted March 8, 2003 It`s all well and good saying that the version I am using needs updating to xx33, but if I update my game I lose all my carefully nurtured crew beause my saved games are deleted. Is there any way to stop this happening? Also I am not the only one that this is happening to, is this a game feature that has not been covered in the manual or subsequent updates? This is another anomaly like the disappearing debris fields!
Papi Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 You can make a backup copy of of your save folder and after patching simply copy the save files back to where they belong. Disappearing debris fields???? Debris fields were not supposed to be supported in the first place in BCM.
Supreme Cmdr Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 quote:Originally posted by Tyrn: Thought it was a feature so I've never reported it. I had disabled it for military careers because they're not allowed to trade in illegal items. Which is why you can't trade in illegal items at Wraith, even though it allows illegal items. I will probably re-enable it. If military castes are allowed to trade in illegal items, then they would have have access to illegal items menu - BUT - stations that do NOT allow illegal items, will (a) have this menu item disabled ( military stations will remove them from your inventory (and fine you) if you dock there with them. This means that GALCOMHQ will have this menu disabled (it currently is) but Wraith should have it enabled (since that station allows illegal item trading) - but is currently disabled. quote:Originally posted by Spaceghost: Also I am not the only one that this is happening to, is this a game feature that has not been covered in the manual or subsequent updates? This is another anomaly like the disappearing debris fields! There are no debris fields in the BCM or BCM Gold. If you are talking about the asteroid fields around Jupiter, they will do that based on range. Its called distance popping and thats the reason they were removed from the game until I can figure out a different method of handling them.
martinstretton Posted March 8, 2003 Author Report Posted March 8, 2003 Thanks Papi I have tried your suggestion but when I tried to restore my game it kept kicking me back to the desktop. Any other suggestions people Please!!!

Any other suggestions people Please!!! The "problem" is that quite often, updates have required that save game formats change and so old save games will often either cause problems or cause the game to simply exit as you're experiencing.
Supreme Cmdr Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 quote:Originally posted by Spaceghost: Thanks Papi I have tried your suggestion but when I tried to restore my game it kept kicking me back to the desktop. Any other suggestions people Please!!! The save game format in 1.08.33 is compatible with versions all the way up to 1.08.26. So, if the saved game fails to load, its from an earlier version. In fact, you can tell which version the saved game is from if you looked at the .SAV file in Notepad. The first line tells you what version the file was saved with. e.g. BCM Save Game, Saved using 1.08 .36
martinstretton Posted March 9, 2003 Author Report Posted March 9, 2003 My saved game was from 1.0.08RC32 so it should work unfortunatly I still have the problem. I am a novice at computing, so I will start again, shame really as I was quite attached to my crew.

Go to the forum archives to see how to pack up a saved game and where to send it to.
DCZX Posted March 20, 2003 Report Posted March 20, 2003 I just docked at a station and I had illegal items. They were confiscated and it said something was adjusted. Was this my rank? Also, where can I see my rank? thx

I think it's CommLink or Communications or Comms from the computer subsystems drop down.

It's on Bridgeviewer -> Computer Video Display (CVD) -> ACM Status (ACM) And of course from the roster you'll get the same info too.

Migraines and tech support do not mix well. I know better. For some reason, I took rank to mean violations...sheesh. Thanks for clearing that up Papi.
