Alright im unsure if i spell Campaign right of not = but anywho

I know how to make money in roam.. easy really

But I've run into a major problem when trying to play the Campaign... I go bankrupt before my second mission = I deploy my mining drones on the surface.. and of course I go for the artifact (which I soon encounter a problem.. but thats not the focus of this thread) but before my mining donres are even done and full.. im out of money.. and out of radine and pluo... (sheild fuel)

I know for a fact that I can't stay in the station for 2-3 hours straight or else I might fail the mission and be court martialed... but I can't go about protecting the universe if I have no money and no fuel for my reactor and sheild = and going outside in a EVA suit and pushing my ship is not a good idea to = not enough strength so my question is..

How do you make money in the Campaign?

[off topic]

Posted this in BCMBCMG Disscussion.. but I felt that it doesn't belong there so I deleted the topic and reposted it here.

My suggestion is that you use the time alloted in between missions to make quick trade runs. IMHO, the purpose of the ACM is not to become rich but instead to carry out the missions. Therefore, it's obviously much easier to become rich in ROAM as your not held to a timeline necessarily. In any case, use the time in between missions wisely and you should be able to make plenty of cash to sustain yourself.

And by the way, you spelled Campaign correctly. :-)

Drag the diplomat to majora with the shuttle.

latch on, jump, drop it, let it jump, catch it again and repeat.

Shuttle HD's charge extremely fast when not dragging ships. so if you drop the ship your HJ recharge time increases.

edit: Must be still aleep, just reread what I wrote and looks like I compltely forgot to post the relevant part.

anyway with the time left (you should have quite a bit) just used the shuttle to run the trade missions. Just remember to unload the OC.

its all about smart shopping. i never really had a problem with running out of fundage during the campaign (yes you spelled it right).

before i start a mission, id scout out the route i was to travel, and deploy 1 drone on that route. i would get where i needed to go in plenty of time, complete the mission, then during my downtime, id deploy another drone, and use a shuttle to go retrieve my first drone (which should be loaded up pretty well).

i come back, do another mission and deploy another drone. during my downtime, i retrieve the second drone, etc etc... i then cash em in at the closest station with a decent inflation rate. it keeps a steady income coming in. also when you get promoted, you get a payraise which helps as well. also when your doing missions, keep an eye out for cargo pods and whatnot. usually they have stuff thats worth a decent chunk of change.

again, this is just the way i do it, and i really dont have a problem with anything. keep experimenting.

Gray, just curious. Why didn't you deploy all 4 drones at the same time?

I guess I don't see why staggering them helps when they fill up simultaneously anyway.

LOL when I read that first post my first reaction was WTF

I never escort the diplomats on mission 1 tod 1.

95 times out of 100 they make it to Majora station ok sometimes they have taken a little damage but they usually make it.

That is unless Derek has changed the script

He will change scripts if he thinks its a big enough loophole so don't go posting about them.

So what do I do while the mission 1 plays out?

I trade in a shuttle,

leaving my CC parked next to GalcomHQ for protection and 3 shuttles deploying drones.

(you can stop off at your CC on around the 4 or 5 th trip to give 1 of the shuttles the orders to deploy the final drone)

buying anything AD from GalcomHQ and selling them at Wraith (Lyrius) 3 jumps away and a round trip of about 7 minutes (shuttle MK 2).

Buy large cheap items while you have little money and small expensive items when you have a lot you only have 2500 units of storage.

That's why I have a list of all items that I can sort via type and the ratio of their price per displacement.

I can usually have banked 40 million + as the mission is ending.

First thing you do now with this money is upgrade your CC asset to the best shields and armor.

Now when you go into battle those Commanders out there who get their a$$ whipped by the AI will have greatly improved shields to protect themselves.

Choose a Carrier like the Megaron and install Linear S/IV you have 8750 units of shield,

with this craft if you take damage in battle with other craft you really should be thinking about finding a new game to play because in MP your cannon fodder.

if you find some more Iridium you should probably sell it. Iridium gives you alot of moey but is pretty rare.

so you could start with a carrier, sell all your iridium and before you now it, you'll be nuking Gammula(or Earth )

BTW iridium is cloaking fuel.

It's more simple. There is a topic posted by me that explain the best trading plan I've founded.

The escort is to Majoris. But look at SARIEN at 3 or 4 jumps, at the starstation SARON.

Sell all what uneeded to Majoris (repair minerals, medicines, some weapons, some probes, some leech mines and grab mines and so on ... you will have the possibilty to buy it later at SARON) and buy some spare parts at SARON (best is IA) with your shuttle and sell it to majoris. 0% => 40%

And "IA's" are the sp├®ciality of SARON as TRELLIS spare parts too

Best way is to buy all the radine you can on GalcomHQ before starting the mission (you have 2 minutes for that) because here is the best low cost for radine

Thanks guys =) the info you gave me helped me out.. the trading run did me well.. except I didn't end up with 40 mill in one hour.. I only ended up with 6 mill =( *I MUST be doing something wrong =*( *

You *MUST* buy TRELLIS as fast as possible because 1 TRELLIS selled, give you 1,5 / 1,7 millions INCOME !!

The trick, sell everything in your asset before you launch,

that includes the missiles loaded on your CC and FC's mines probes minerals, nutripacks, spareparts,

I even sell most of the fuel onboard.

The is another trick with the selected launch platform but thats aloophole and we don't talk about them

This should give you a starting fund of a little over 4 million.

You didn't say what the route was

but from this Thread

With a MK1 shuttle, you can make 17 Millions of money per travel if you buy/sell only TRELLIS

This is the best trade plan I've founded

This may be one of the more profitable routes but as we are playing a campaign and are restricted in both time and the areas of space you must be in it may not be the most appropriate .

Any RO item you purchase from SARON and sold at MAJORIS will give you the same % return.

If you have limited space ie trading with a shuttle you should buy

HULL REPAIR UNIT

REACTOR REPAIR KIT

TRELLIS

in that order HULL REPAIR UNIT being most favourable and TRELLIS least favourable in terms of space used.

TRELLIS costs around 3500000 credits and takes up 450 units of space so in an empty MK 2 shuttle you can fit 5 in at a cost of 17.5 million

but if you buy HULL REPAIR UNIT 250000 credits / 15 units you can fit in 166 at a cost of 41.5 million

you make the same % profit but on a larger cargo value in this case you buy at -10% of standard market value and sell at +40% standard market giving a total profit of 50%

50% of 41.5 million is a greater return for 1 trading run than 50% of 17.5 million

General rule of trading

1) buy at a lower inflation station base than you sell at

2) buy the stations specialised tech type its 10% cheaper and sell at a station that doesn't specialise in that type.

And, of course, money management, only buy what you need, not want. To reiterate on what was said about drones, deploy them to a planet or moon you know you will come across frequently in the game, and return after every few hours to extract and re-deploy the buggers, thus making a second income.
