Hawk30168 Posted September 11, 2004 Report Posted September 11, 2004 I have no idea what is wrong, and all I can say about this problem is that the Splash Screen comes up, then as soon as you THINK it'll get past it, it doesn't load at all, just quits from the splash screen. No intor, no nothing. I downloaded the 2.00.00 (whatever) patch and the NEWEST patch also. I mean, nothing works! I tried unzipping the zip files in the directory in hopes that it needed to load files, but that doesn't work either. Tried the "-n" thing, no go. Nothing works, NOT EVEN ON MY OTHER COMPUTER. Please, I ask assistance in this matter as I LOVE Battlecruiser and want to play it!
Hawk30168 Posted September 11, 2004 Author Report Posted September 11, 2004 P.S.: The game is UNIVERSAL COMBAT
Gol_Stoan Posted September 11, 2004 Report Posted September 11, 2004 For starters, completely Reinstall the game and install the patches from the game directory. Also, make sure you have DirectX 9.0c, the current version of UC won't run without it.
Cc Posted September 11, 2004 Report Posted September 11, 2004 quote:Please, I ask assistance in this matter as I LOVE Battlecruiser and want to play itYou are going to have to figure out what graphics card your computer has. Also, the game will run out of the box, with no patches. If it doesn't, patching is not the problem.

Cruis. In Posted September 11, 2004 Report Posted September 11, 2004 from what I can tell of your profile, you do not meet the minimum requirements of the game. You have a pentium 3. Also still at directx 9.0 not that that would matter if your chip isn't fast enough. I'm doubting the pentium 3 you have is over 1ghz.
Hawk30168 Posted September 11, 2004 Author Report Posted September 11, 2004 Just Updated my System Profile WITH ALL I COULD GET! Hope its enough and well descriptive.
Supreme Cmdr Posted September 11, 2004 Report Posted September 11, 2004 Your video card is not adequate to run the game because I don't think that Intel on-board video chips has a vertex shader. You might want to check with Intel or Gateway by browsing their websites. Also, in the memory section, you added the info for your hard drive. Thats wrong. Find out what your memory is and change that info. The info for your Intel on-board video card is probably wrong too, since the 5.1 has nothing to do with video cards, its for sound cards.
Hawk30168 Posted September 11, 2004 Author Report Posted September 11, 2004 Oh...sorry about that. I'll fix it when I can But overall I get the message: Can't play it. :;sigh:: Well, I still LOVE Battlecruiser! Perhaps one day I'll get one that'll work besides BC 3000AD, that old game that rarely has good graphics lol. Still a Dedicated Battlecruiser Fan -Drakomis
Supreme Cmdr Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 BCM Gold (released March 2003) is also out on sale (if you can find it), that should work just fine on your machine. Its the game that was released before UC.
Hawk30168 Posted September 12, 2004 Author Report Posted September 12, 2004 I appriciate your help, all of your help, 110%! I'll try looking for it, but for now I'll wait to see if I'll be able to get a better...playing computer for the game. I always loved Battlecruiser, and I'm willing to wait until I get the chance to play a game of either UC or the BCM Gold you mentioned. Thanks, very much! God Bless.
richterm Posted September 13, 2004 Report Posted September 13, 2004 If you can spend $55, you can buy a GeForce FX 5200 video card that runs the game great. Yes, it's not very high end, but it works dandy with both UC and Star Wars Galaxies (which is one of the gnarliest games out there in terms of "GIVE ME HARDWARE!") The card fits in a regular AGP slot and also comes with a backplate that lets you put it in a slimline case. I've had mine for about a week and am tickled pink. Here is the card: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc....-139-165&depa=0 Good luck! And no, my system profile is not accurate...I'll try to remember to update it tonight.
Solidburn Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 What about Windows XP SP2...That seems to have been causing my probs with it...it won't run for me either I tried setting Pri controller to PIO and nothing
jamotto Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 Did you go through the Troubleshooting FAQ that is provided with the game? quote: tried setting Pri controller to PIOI would change this back to "DMA if available".
Solidburn Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Well...I Thought I had it working.... I've tried the FAQ (reading and re-reading several times), taking down the sound and video accel. sliders, updating drivers, safedisk, uninstall/ defrag/clean boot/reinstall...even windows compatability. uninstalling Nero and divx, making sure I had an updated indeo. Tried a clean install without the patches...just to see.....nothin'. so...if there's any suggestions...I'm listening. maybe I over-looked something in my frustration at least multi works....for the time being

If your system does not meet with the game's requirements or you have failed to install and patch the game correctly, it won't work. So far, you have (a) failed to update your sys info with pertinent info ( failed to indicate what specific problem you having.
Solidburn Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 After digging back to the oldest video driver I have...it Finally works. btw...what pertinent sys info do I need to put?
